This was my first out-of-state event, and I can even be seen in the crowd behind Triple R around the 7:30 mark. What a special memory and a great video! You even nailed the era-appropriate music for the Mundungu set! Well-done.
I was fortunate enough to play with/against Triple R during the Smash 4 scene. He was always a good sport. His presence in the scene during that time for me is something that can't be replaced. Much appreciated lol

I have been playing for under a year and players like RRR inspire me to practice this game and it shows that every character has a chance for greatness. I'm only playing on Slippi unranked but eventually I would love to go to locals and carry on the kirby legacy.
I main kirby in ultimate(where hes also one of the worst characters) and its so gratifying seeing someone else main a character just to prove everyone wrong
At least in Ult even the low tiers are somewhat capable. Ganondorf seems to be the one exception and even then you can get some good matchups with him.
Kirby has a decent air game, his combo game is very specific but still fun and he has a copy ability multiplier. He’s more than capable of moving up the rankings a touch

When I was growing up my friend had Kirby Airride, and whenever I would come over to play it I would be yellow, since that's the second player slot and I didn't know how to change it at the time. Yellow Kirby is kind of like the Luigi of the Kirby colors. I don't choose Kirby in Smash often, but when I do (usually when battling beginners or kids) I will still choose yellow!
If I’ve learned anything about Melee, as someone that knows very little about it, it’s that the key to beating Fox is literally to force him off the stage to a threshold that he can’t recover from (especially if you’re playing a lower tier character)
Also, fox is combo food due to high gravity and fall speed, so fox is probably the worst matchup for most low and bottom tiers, a player with him could easily make mistakes and get comboed to death
@@lapplandkun9273 which is exactly why I think low tiers aren’t hopeless in today’s meta And Kirby excels at edgeguarding in Melee, so if he gets Fox offstage, he will run him into the ground (or the blast zone, either works.)

There is a very simple explanation why it is more striking to see someone win with the worst characters than with the top tier. Because you see a top tier player win and you say "meh, I'm not surprised". But to see something like Kirby beating a Fox is unique. And it even shows a great skill in the game to be able to do it.

You say that M2K won every tournament that he attended from 2008 to 2014, but I'm pretty sure he was at Genesis 1. There must've been more tournaments than that he was at and didn't win too. Edit: I just looked it up and yeah he was at Genesis 1 in 2009 and lost to Armada and Zhu
tiers dont mean shit. I had a melee fest at a buddys place and the best player there was a Kirby main. Same can be said about the Socal Orange county rankings. We have a ganon and a game&watch in the top ten. Love the content and now do one on ganon
