- 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe review by The Straight Pipes. The Hyundai Santa Fe is putting down 277 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque from a 2.5L Turbo 4 cylinder. At $49,999 CAD, would you take it over the Land Rover Defender 110?

Did y'alls transmission last more than the 36 miles of Car Confection channels'?
@@BoopSnoot well, Hyundai was trying to copy Land Rover, reliability included
Is it true that the key fob doesnt have the key integrated inside so it is separate on the key chain?
It did last haha
Hyundai always coming in with those GTA looking cars.
I know! They can't make anything original, and when they do, it looks ugly and weird
@@colechapman6976 ignoring the rear the car overall looks pretty good imo
@colechapman6976 that there Is a funny statement, cause its so wrong
That looks horrible
@@hacklaurent9412in what way is it wrong? It literally looks like they took a Ford Expedition and a Defender and mushed them together to create this copy cat, and a bad one at that.
Hyundai is really trying new things in the automotive market. Whether one likes it or not, their innovation is quite commendable. The versatility, features, powertrain options are so vast that there's an option for every car buyer.
Serious question. How can you say that when they almost copied a different cars design and made it theirs? That steering wheel is right out of a Range Rover. I think the new Sonata and the EVs look great, I just hope their reliability improves to what it used to be like
@@Jo-lw5dmManufacturers copying effective designs is nothing new -- have you seen a Mercedes W210 E-class and a Lexus LS430? Toyota ganked like all of Mercedes homework for that car. If a manufacturer can improve an existing design or functionality it's ultimately a win for the consumer.
@@Jo-lw5dmthe steering wheel design has been used for Azera since 1980s. It is not new.
I agree. It just makes so much sense to appeal broad spectrum for all types of consumer vehicles! Hyundai seems to be the only manufacturer that understands that diversity wins!
I agree . Wish Mazda did the same
I worked at a Hyundai dealership in 2004….. can’t believe this is a Santa Fe !!!!
They've definitely come a long way, my first car that I bought new was a 2002 Hyundai accent for $10,000. Sold at 8 years later with 170,000 Miles. Never had any real problems with it, just regular oil changes in basic maintenance.
I left a Hyundai dealership around that time. They've come a loooong way.
I had a 2004 Santa Fe, loved it until last February. Completely different from this
The higher tail lights look so much better
You said it..
10000% agreed, I hate tiny tail lights on bigger cars, especially the Mazdas. Just keep it proportional!!! Imo vertical tail lights look best for bigger cars
This differentiates it in design style and function a lot more from the Tucson than in the past. I really like companies willing to be bold with designs, especially with all the smaller commuter SUVs/crossovers on the market and electric cars
The Tuscon and Palisade will look like this too. The Santa Fe is the first to get the new redesign - design language.
Sure - and if Lexus/Toyota came out with a design even half as ugly as this thing is, everyone would be slamming it all over the place. But because all the fanboys have to be 'cool', they say that this is great.
@@Mr21scott The Hyundai fanboys are taking over the world! LOL
They look cool now, but idk how they’ll age
@@Mr21scottlol it looks good. Maybe your just use to boring Japanese designs that don’t offend. Seeing the same looking suv and sedan every day gets old.
Rear lights looking like the Airbus Beluga 😂😂
What the F were they thinking with that rear end...😧
@@TermlessHGWWTF were they thinking fullstop! Someone needs to be fired.
@@TermlessHGW
Maximize cargo opening. It's either that or the D-pillar like in the CR-V, XC-90/60, Escalade.
So peo0le with smaller vehicle can see the lights?
Nice face…..no butt kinda situation 😂😂😂
1:10 wow that green is stunning, never knew that color was offered
Pea soup green
And Pea Soup is delicious@@stufoo
Yeah new Elantra N Line
10:59 one thing missed about the arm rest is that the tray inside it come out and it becomes super deep, it also has a drawer that can be accessed by the middle row
But does it have an H
Saying $50k is a budget is wild
It's all relative
yea 50k canadian is nothing
$50k CAD is about $35k USD
They didn't say 50k is a budget, but you can have a "Land Rover on a budget" - like getting a Lamborghini like sportscar but for half the price - that would be a Lamborghini on a budget.
@@sierrag8412yeah that’s really, really cheap for what that car is. It seems wrong? Also are they using the wrong xrate? 40,999 is 30k us, not 34k as stated in the video
I get the Defender comparison but honestly I see a lot of Ford Flex in this. And it looks like this could be similar to what the new Explorer COULD have looked like. The actual new Explorer doesn’t look anywhere near as good as this.
As I was listening to this I passed a transport of them ironically and the front is totally modern Ford Flex vibes
I instantly said that when I saw it at the dealership and the salesperson said that they were coached to not compare it to the Flex, lol!
This looks like a Chinese company tried to design a knock-off Land Rover
You two are funny. Great review. Earlier today, I purchased the 2024 Sante Fe SEL version. I could not believe the drive quality. More after i PICK up in two days!!
It drives like a BMW X5 it’s so smooth!
if the rear tails were higher it would be perfect
i agree. I know they were trying to follow the lines of the car, but they could have easily worked in two vertical rear taillights that lined up with the side character lines. Not sure why they decided to make them horizontal and so low...
Boy do I have a photoshop for you!
Adding a split rear tailgate along with the rear light change would make it perfect. 👍🏻
That's honestly the only thing keeping this ugly. I love the rest of the design though.
Facelift model perhaps?
What a massive upgrade in styling. Well done, Hyundai. Reminds me of the Ford Flex.
I get the RangeRover advertisement from TH-cam while watching this video 🤣
They’re scared
Bruh this isn't even a defender ripoff.... JETOUR T2 IS ONE
I’ve missed the Ford Flex so much 😍
This is like if a Ford Flex and a Defender had a baby
Overall I’m really impressed with this thing. I used to just completely ignore Hyundai, they seemed cheap and poor quality. Recently they’ve been doing great work to improve that image! Good job on the review guys!
Lmao you think they used high end parts ?
They’re still are cheap and poor quality what do u mean 😂 get back to doing research cause it’s oblivious u have no clue what you’re talking about
when I bought mine in 2019, I checked it out thoroughly, and it was the top 3rd one where all the others, including Honda, etc were so far below in comparison. I love mine, so quiet and comfortable, it 'feels' so solid, it was one of the best around and so glad I bought mine..now not so sure, have heard they aren't as good as they used to be
Oh man. That move up with the tail lights was the move. 👏
Subscription worthy?
It kind of reminds me of a new Range Rover Sport when he moved them up.
I agree moving the tail lights up makes it looks more appealing to the eye
Photoshopped higher tail lights looked so much better. They're exactly what this thing needs.
but the trunk space would be reduced (that's why they opted for this weird design)
@@DualITofficiela split tailgate would keep the space, look better and add extra functionality.
The trunk space would remain unaffected. The current location of the light bar already occupies the trunk space. They did it for style, nothing more. Many recent Hyundais have featured low-set lights. It’s simply a Hyundai thing.
@@vlj1133 nope , the « side » rear headlights takes space from the inside + the trunk handle opens lower . Look at Hyundai Santa Fe engineer video he explains thoroughly why the back design was made that way. It’s ugly as hell but practical
I have a 2018 Hyundai Tucson Sport that just clocked over 112,000 miles with absolutely no problems! Only tires , brakes , and recently a new battery !
You guys forgot The H in the alloys😂😂
I noticed it right away.
Great Review Guys! I just signed on the dotted line today for a Matte Earthy Brass Santa Fe Calligraphy. Trading in our 22 Palisade for it. Looking forward to this!
just picked up a 2024 XRT and agree on everything - this thing is a nearly unbeatable package considering the space for the size and also the features and value. Design is a personal preference but I don't mind the rear and the interior is incredible. We have a minivan too but the third row in this is just fine for kids so will probably be taking this on most trips. Love it
We bought this exact model in the U.S. it’s the Limited trim. We love it!
Have fun with it 🎉

@@phatgringo2.0 Hyundai has really good transmissions. Engines are another story though.
@@phatgringo2.0 just say you're jealous of hyundai
@@phatgringo2.0that’s Nissan and ford lmao
I LOVE that pecan brown interior 😍🔥🥵🤩! It looks a lot like the Coquina Beige Nappa leather interior from the 21-23 Santa Fe Calligraphy
Looks great, not sold on the rear, but the interior and front is fantastic. The base engine in the US is the 2.5t. Here before the Toyota loyalists and brand snobs come in.
Toyotas are crazy expensive now. I priced out a Grand Highlander fully loaded the way I want it and it was 62k, LOL. At that point, I'd rather spend a couple more grand on a GX 550 with some accessories.
As a Toyota loyalist, I really like this car. I want it to be as reliable as a RAV4 or Highlander. I just don’t think the DCT and 2.5T will hold up over time. Hopefully they will though. That would complete this car and give Toyota a run for their money. Toyota has never been a leader in design or technology so they need to be reliable for their value proposition. If they lose their reliability without major improvements in design and tech then they will lose business. I’m concerned about the new generation Tacoma and Land Cruiser because they have turbo 4s.
Cool, you're here before people with taste come in. Nice!
The rear looks better in person. Just checked out one today.
All of the obvious things you already mentioned about the ugly rear aside, why did they make this boxy? It's not a rugged truck based vehicle, but they are trying to make it that way? That cheapens it. Many automakers are going to a boxy design, but they are doing so with their trucks.
Stop the defender comparisons, There’s no shame in saying this looks like a Ford Flex!
Absolutely you right 👍🏽
my wife and i bought one of these two weeks ago in red, with the 2.5L turbo. We have been enjoying this so much and with kids this vehicle provides all the space we need. its a step up from her 2020 Toyota CH-R. After having a dashboard screen like this one you can never go back to anything else that is not digital. We hadn't used the 3rd row yet but i can say with the 3rd row up there is no trunk space. so we ride around with the 3rd row down for groceries. Hyundai has taken this design to the the next level for the working class at 38 MSRP. im very pleased and its affordable. now maybe if i trade in my 21 toyota corolla hmmm lol..
This is a pretty nice vehicle, Hyundai making moves out here
I can't believe the calligraphy one is 54k CAD, which is like 36k euro. In Europe, MSRP for the calligraphy model is almost 70k euro.. That's double.
Love outlets in the car. This should be the next thing that u guys test. Visors and outlets
Ordered a hybrid Preferred with Trend pack. Can't wait for delivery. Just wish the hybrid came in their shimmering silver colour. I find this vehicle looks best in lighter colours but I definitely do not want a white crossover.
I do wish there was a tech package for it that offered the side view cameras and premium audio.
The back looks so goofy lol
💯
It’s ridiculous. Looks like it’s for a ride straight to the funeral home!
You mean ahhh goofy.
100% agreed, it's the only visual part I hate personally
Saw one Sunday at the Milwaukee Auto Show…love it, and KUDOS to Hyundai- hope they sell shiploads of these..!
Great review. You guys are fun to watch.
I have '23 Santa Fe. That 2.5T is smooth and effortless.
You must enjoy low quality , get a new brand quick lol
Who says it's low Quality? 😂 It's one the best selling car brand
@@ankitsen5971 😂 that’s what they say about chevy and the other American brands and look what quality they present , just cause they sell a lot of junk doesn’t mean it’s quality

I can actually read the complaints from the hwy website lol
I saw one of these on the showroom floor while asking when Ioniq 5N will be in. It looked great in person and definitely had Land Rover vibes. In a dark green, it would even more so.
Been hoping for this video for a few weeks!!
Can't unsee the Provost Bus look. Just see a Coach liner. Heck almost expect to see Greyhound written over the tailights .
To me the front works, but the back doesn't. The back just looks like it hasn't been designed..,
It looks so much better with the taillights higher up
I love how low the tail lights are! Reminds me of 90s cars.
yeah you are so right no one's mentioning the rear looks exactly like the old school tahoe / full size suvs
It looks better in person. Just saw today
There a poor design. You need your light up high so they can always be seen.
Regardless, it’s going to sell well. The pricing is on point for it. My dealer already sold like 6 out of the gate.
Kinda reminded me of the Infiniti J30 and how the taillights look like they're about the melt off the car.
Hyundai really made this so solid and nice that I forget that it's the "normal" brand in the Hyundai-Kia-Genesis family. The styling is interesting without being glaring. The touch points all seem to have genuine thought behind them, not just afterthoughts.
The 6 speed tranmission is why you would want the hybrid. Want nothing to do with a DCT from a mechanic's point of view.
Especially this DCT, I'm in the second transmission in my Sorento turbo as the first one failed at 20k/2years old.
The hybrid is not better. My 22 hybrid has needed fuel injectors at 25k miles and has various power train issues. Dealerships are a joke at doing warranty work
I have a DCT in my 2022 Audi A4. Just crossed 31K miles (around 50K kilometers), and I've had zero issues so far.
@@snakeeyes9246 yeah but it's an audi vs Hyundai. Depends where they manufacture their DCTs at and quality control and testing.
@@akiramiyazonotrue. And Audi probably gets some influence from Porsche's PDK as well.
Love the style, not only different and bold, but I think the execution is spot on. Like a French pixelated robot. Tron neuve. Cool and funky. Two words, lets stick to the straightpipped here, people seldom use to describe Korean cars. Another French influence to note is how, erm, 'exciting' of an experience post warranty ownership may present.
How is the ride compared to a honda crv? Also, is the cruise control with lane assist as good as the crv/rav4 ?
Love your reviews! You guys are Fab! Had mine on order months ago! Can't wait to get it!
If they shorten that wheel base and put a wheel on the back, they have a new #1 selling vehicle for their brand.
I’m a current 2020 Sante Fe owner and absolutely LOVE it. I’ve seen the 2024 in person: negatives, it’s only available in a seven seater, the back end is ugly, it has a cockpit style interior (with purse compartment). The required seven seats is enough for me to look at different companies on my next purchase. It is true, I don’t think they built this one with their current customers in mind…😢😢😢
Agreed!
Yes, you are absolutely right, this one is not for the current Santa Fe customer base, mostly. But that's how they find new ones, like me lol. I'm glad that it became a 7 seater only, because in my country all Santa Fe's were 5 seaters, you had to pay extra for Palisade.
6 seater with captains chairs is offered in the calligraphy trim
Tail lights are obviously too low... How did that pass production... Will probably be a refresh change
It's a MASSIVE departure from previous designs, but both Hyundai and Kia are truly on a roll with designs lately. Very nice.
Bizarre designs.
Did you guys try the hybrid version? Considering carbon tax, this is going to be the most popular option
I love it, but don't know that I'd ever trust their dual clutch transmission.
I agree. The Car Confections channel bought a new Santa Fe and it needed a new transmission after just 30 miles. Not sure how widespread the issue is but something to think about.
Kia, hyundai, VW, BMW, VOlvo, MErcedes,Stellantis they all have DCT these days. It's all about efficiency.
I guess VW is the longest in the game with DCT so they are pretty reliable but AT or E-cvt is still best.
@@redwhite_040 All transmissions have pros and cons. CVT are inexpensive and simple so long as you're doing straight and level driving typical with Honda Civics and Toyota Corollas.
DCT are typically the choice for more high performance/spirited driving, but they do have a tendency to lurch at low speeds.
I don't trust ANY dual clutch transmissions. The more simple, the better. Let's gooo slushboxes!!! 😂
The same DCT in this car failed in my sore to turbo at 20k/2years and spent 2 months in the shop. No DCT for me next time.
I want this in white and then I’d add a black wrap to the roof for contrast. It would look so nice. At least until that turbo 4 inevitably blows up 😂
Don't think a 2 tone will work well. The full glass panels are blacked out, so not much of a contrast.
@@Ak47ram It's okay to be wrong
54,000 DOLLARS "I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything"

That's less than $40k US. That's pretty cheap for a three-row SUV with leather and all the tech.
Did you even watch the video?
@@r0b3rt_959 lets watch how many people like or respond to your comment compared to mine.... don't be an ass!

Just picked up a Rockwood Green XRT. It’s easily my favorite car of all time! Extremely refined and quiet. Great ride. Beautiful interior.
My only complaint is that the key fob is the cheapest, cheesiest, blob of plastic I’ve ever seen, but I’ll deal.
How’s Hyundai still getting away with copying other cars? 😂

Nah. It looks better! Probably more reliable too.

Funny, people hated this look on the Ford Flex Sleeper Rocket. Funny what 10 years does to opinions.
This car looks ugly I like the old Santa Fe
The limited and calligraphy also have fingerprint recognition which is set up through the "user profile" section of the menu. If someone takes your keys, they still can't drive the car. I bought one two weeks ago.. Black exterior, saddle interior, in a limited awd hybrid in the states.. Couple things.. I love mine, and am glad i went hybrid, but.. i am not a fan of the safety tech, and there's no way to permanently disable it, which is very annoying.
For the money this is one of the best ice cars currently on sale.
Love the Britax rear facing car seat reference. Really puts into perspective the space for a car seat
I bought one, a hybrid limited awd and i absolutely love it..
Just ordered the same trim and colours, reminds me of my first vehicle (2007 Hyundai Terracan Diesel). Love the funkiness
So glad yall mentioned CX b/c this is my battle of trying to figure out if I wanna upgrade my CX-9 or change manufactures with HYUNDAI
I'm pissed. I found out my Santa fe limited is a FWD instead of a AWD. I thought all Limited and Caligraphy was all Awd. Make sure you check before you buy
You guys missed one 'H' in the front from the extreme left/right plus the wheels as previously mentioned. That makes it 75 total!
is it just me or the pov of Yuri folding down the third row was straight up chaotic? 🤣🤣 love you guys!
Clutch feature about the charging port in the front is you can switch from power only to power and car connect/data WHICH IS AMAZINGGG!
Looks pretty good but those lights in the rear need to go up
This gives me so many lego vibes from my childhood. I dig it
Big big difference with Taillights raised.
Props to the ultra high res close up on the brushed aluminum.
I feel like placing the lights up higher at the back, just below the window, will look even better. How did this funeral hearse rear get past production?
I’ve had a limited trim for 3 weeks now. Everything they said it’s true.
Hyundai is the new Toyota
How does it look under the hood? Are things easily accessible?
They put the lights that low cause it’s the line from the top of the wheel well! If it was moved up they would have to be up to the shoulder line like on all other vehicles! I see why and it’s smart!
That bet was like when you take the under on an NFL game, then one team alone hits the over.
Looks good...what happen to the rear rear?
Gorgeous interior. Great review.
What’s better the Lexus TX or the Hyundai Santa Fe?
