MORE, MORE, MORE ELO!!! Strange Magic, Do Ya, Sweet Talkin' Woman, Telephone Line, Mr. Blue Sky, Turn To Stone, Can't Get It Out Of My Head, Evil Woman.... ALL AMAZING! Jeff Lynne is a GENIUS song writer and producer. Worked with George Harrison, Traveling Wilburys.....
Some facts about Jeff Lynne (ELO)...First, he is a very humble man, simply because this Music Genius is not interested in fame, the limelight, and money, he just loves to create great music. Jeff Lynne is one of the most versatile musicians ever, this is why he is considered by his peers to be among the greatest. He didn't stick to one style of music because, after decades, it gets boring. Jeff has done progressive Rock, Symphonic Rock - Pop, New wave, and Disco. Everything he does turns to gold. He even flirted with Country music. From 1972 to 1986 (During 14 years) Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra has had more top 40 hits than any other group in the world... 51 years later they still play in sold-out Arenas, festivals and Stadiums. During Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 Tour, many reviews agreed in saying they are the best live Classic Rock Band in the world still touring and Jeff Lynne is a Music Genius( From Forbes Magazine and the Washington Post). ELO is in the Rock Hall of Fame. Lynne is on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Birmingham Walk OF Fame. Jeff Lynne’s ELO won the Best Classic Rock Band plus Lynne won the best Songwriter award ( ASCAP ) in 2019 for his fantastic contribution over the years. In October of 2020, Jeff Lynne has been made an officer of The Order Of The British Empire for his extraordinary contribution to music. He previously has received three Ivor Novello Awards, which celebrate songwriters and composers, including the award for outstanding services to British music. He created the best Super Group of all time with his best friend George Harrison, The Traveling Wilburys. The Legends in the Music Industry call Jeff Lynne the best overall Musician ever and a Producer Extraordinaire. Jeff Lynne has written and produced many hit songs for music legends like George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Del Shannon, the Everly Brothers, The Beatles, and so many others...
Is this really their first ELO song?!? Cause if it is they're about to go down an incredible rabbit hole. ELO was a hit machine for decades and nobody sounds like them.
OMG - I think Jamel listened to every ELO song but he was calling them E-Lo, like J-Lo for awhile. Short song but I really like Mr. Blue Sky. You should also do the Allman's "Blue Sky" - two happy great songs.

He also owns his love for pop music over all other kinds. He is a musical genius. Plays all instruments well. He is a prolific producer including many successful albums for Tom Petty, Brian Wilson, The Beatles final album, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Bryan Adams, Roy Orbison, and The Traveling Wilburys. Fascinating stuff learning about the history of that super group. He is a very quiet and humble person, so it really took ages for him to finally be recognized as the legend he is. I am here because Jamel suggested it! I’ve been binge watching you guys since yesterday!! Started following Jamel about a year ago so I value his opinion ✌️☮️ I have to say I got lost in your Queen reactions last night! I am so enjoying everything I see so far! ELO is a super deep rabbit hole you will truly enjoy 🎸🎤🔥 If you want to continue with their music “Mr. Blue Sky” or “Don’t Bring Me Down” or “Turn to Stone” are just a few of their huge hits 🔥🔥
John Lennon said that ELO was what the Beatles may have been had they stayed together - Jeff Lynne adored the Beatles, and became a member of the Traveling Wilburys (led by George Harrison) and produced the 'treatles' (Free as a Bird, Real Love) as he was the only one with the ability and approval of the three surviving Beatles
I was so worried that you were going to have some negative comments about my favorite band of all time, but seeing that you didn’t have ANY just made my day sooo much better! Jeff Lynne is an absolute genius. He wrote all of his songs (except for 2). He also co-wrote many Tom Petty songs (including Free Falling). He was very influenced by the Beatles and even worked with George Harrison a lot. He later was in the band The Traveling Wilburys with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison. I cannot wait for you guys to listen to more. A new World Record and Out of The Blue are my favorite albums of them. But you really can’t go wrong. Wow sorry this is so long, I’m clearly passionate about this band!!❤️❤️
@@andyandalex ELO and Supertramp have always reminded me of each other (in a good way). Both great groups. A+/S-tier IMO. Well-deserved additions to this awesome channel. 👍
Mr Blue Sky - a mood changer - you CAN'T help but feel happy listening to this - great vocals - great foundational rock - and a whole orchestra for goodness sake - give it a shot
Jeff never produced Beatles, he produced (and cowrote) George Harrison songs. Jeff is the reason there was a Traveling Wilburys and brought George into the project.
Michel Lowe Jeff produced both posthumous Beatles songs “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love” for their anthology release in the 90s so, technically, he has produced the Beatles
Jeff Lynne is one of the "Royal" figures in modern music in my opinion. His touch is gold for what you guys were discussing. Layers, intricacies and beauty. Once you have been exposed to a bunch of ELO's stuff, I would suggest watching some of the live show videos of theirs. Good production and wonderful performances.
Jeff Lynne is the genius behind ELO. He's up there with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. Lynne can play almost any instrument imaginable. A true virtuoso.
I think "virtuoso" refers to super high skills, like Vai on guitar or Emerson on keyboards. Lynne is not like that, but he can come up with exactly what a song is calling for. For example his guitar solos are short and simple, but tasteful and effective (I'm thinking Showdown, Mr. Blue Sky...).
Rumor has it that "Out of the Blue" - double album - was writtin in a few days. Some of the lyrics bear that out... but still. There are some major classics on that album.
He was in the band The Idle Race when "Walrus" came out. Most bands in the UK were heavily influenced by The Beatles. Three LPs with that band, which are very Beatlesque, then joined The Move for their final two LPs and singles. The Move also very comparable to The Beatles but had their own flair.
Jeff Lynne wears his Beatles influence proudly on his sleeves. That being said, he's a genius songwriter in his own right. Mr. Blue Sky, Don't Bring Me Down, Telephone Line...so many hits dudes. PS we need more CCR when you circle back to them.
I'm recently way into Time, Secret Messages, and Balance of Power. They're incredible, and obviously stand apart from the rest of popular music at the time.
They should check ELO live at 2015 Grammys(Evil Woman and Mr Blue Sky). It's interesting to see the current stars(and Paul McCartney) in audience totally digging it (and an impeccable performance).
Guys, I'm 56, been a fan of ELO since the mid-70s and I'm STILL discovering new things about them. Rush and ELO are my top 2 bands in any order. PLEASE keep discovering more ELO. DEEP catalog. Time for Mr. Blue Sky.
You guys HAVE to do way more ELO. They have SO many amazing hits, such as... Turn To Stone, Sweet Talkin' Woman, Telephone Line, Shine A Little Love, Mr. Blue Sky, Evil Woman, Don't Bring Me Down, Strange Magic, Xanadu... Lead singer and main songwriter is Jeff Lynne, who is just a freaking genius writer. Hope to see more of this sooner rather than later 😎
Gents, you are going to LOVE, LOVE LOVE, the rest of Jeff Lynne and ELO's classic catalogue. Their material will continue to blow you away. They are my own twentysomething daughters (who are musicians) most favorite artist. Excellent track to get acquainted with them. There ARE many Beatles connections. John Lennon once called ELO "The sons of The Beatles". Bravo.
Long long overdue ELO THEY BLEW ME AWAY... my boyfriend hit the floor it was amazing winter land...TURN TO STONE EVIL WOMAN, CANT GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD must must do SWEET TALKIN WOMAN!!
Finaly!!! ELO is definitely one of my all-time top bands. Sweet Talking Woman is probably my favorite song if theirs, but honestly there are so many good ones you'll be on this band for a long time. Other ones to hit: Do Ya, Turn to Stone, Evil Woman, Don't Bring Me Down, Telephone Line, the list goes on and on...
Welcome to ELO!!! Suggestions: “Don’t Bring Me Down”, “Can’t Get It Out Of My Head”, “Fire On High” (instrumental), Mr. Blue Sky, “Turn To Stone”, “Sweet Talkin’ Woman”, “Evil Woman”, “Strange Magic”... 💯
So glad you decided to take a chance on ELO! Their production values are through the roof. Soooo many fantastic tunes. Founder and leader Jeff Lynne is a genius. "Do Ya" or "Mr. Blue Sky", or "Evil Woman" would be a great next choice. Hell, who am I kidding? They have at least 15 SOLID hits you could drop the needle on and enjoy to the nines.
If I remember correctly Jeff Lynne, ELO, was heavily influence by The Beatles esp Revolver, Sgt. Pepper and most definitely Abbey Road. Glad you found them guys.
I look forward to you guys and your post. Makes me feel like a teenager and young man again discovering the music. I know nothing of Patreon but I will soon. Another great duo on TH-cam is Lost in Vegas. They are a few years older than y'all but have the same passion to discover music that was not of their time.
Personally neither of those songs are even close to their best. You are doing a disservice to the band by steering people towards those songs. They are fine songs but they don’t hit my ear the same way as at least half a dozen of their other tracks.
Yaaaaaay!! Dudes - my grandma, who died 21 years ago and would have been 100 this year LOVED Electric Light Orchestra. As do I. Jeff Lynne once said that ELO aimed to pick up where The Beatles left off...
Welcome to ELO!!! One of the most unique rock bands in history. LOVE the incorporation of the strings! You're going to want to listen to: "Turn To Stone", "Sweet Talkin' Woman", "Can't Get It Out Of My Head", "Evil Woman", "Strange Magic" and "Across The Border".
Finally! ELO can be catchy in the best possible way, this is one fine example of that. Plenty of great titles from the classic period (Mr Blue Sky, Telephone Line, Sweet Talkin Woman etc). Glad to see you guys enjoy some ELO, great tunes ahead.
I think it was Harrison who said that this is what the Beatles would have become. There is a definite connection between the two. Jeff Lynne is a genius and is recognized by his peers as such.
One of the few songs that they did a cover of. As I commented elsewhere on this video, Chuck Berry laid down the skeleton of what the song should be, the Beatles filled it in some, but ELO brings the song to life and makes it DANCE!
"Don't Bring me Down" was probably their biggest hit. In the late 70s we could hear it 20+ times per day. "Telephone Line" is also primo music. Beware that a lot of their songs were way too Poppy-poopy-Pop, but mostly they were cool. In concert, their stage was a big spaceship!
They have plenty of songs that aren't at all poppy, like Bluebird is Dead, Oh No Not Susan to name just a couple. This was my favorite band in the 70s, took up the cello because of them, just seeing those guys rocking the cello, made me want to do it too, but alas I just didn't have that kind of talent. Their biggest hits like Telephone Line, Turn to Stone, Don't Bring me Down are great, but nowhere near their best or my favorites.
Jeff Lynne has produced the Beatles. He’s about as close to them as you get. He was great friends with George Harrison. I hope you take this journey through to The Traveling Wilburys. Next do Telephone Line. Mr. Blue Sky and some others you’ve prob heard in movies.
Yay, thanks guys for making quarentine easier. Check out Turn to Stone, Don't Bring Me Down, Telephone Line, Evil Woman, Sweet Talking Woman (probably the same one after some time) Strange Magic, Do Ya!
My votes gotta go to: (Top 12 in no order.) Can't Get it Out of My Head Sweet Talking Woman Last Train to London Telephone Line Evil Woman Strange Magic Don't Bring Me Down Turn to Stone Confusion Mr. Blue Sky All Over the World I'm Alive Rain is Falling
You guys were hitting on ALL of it!! Well done!! You picked up on so much that IS ELO and Jeff Lynne! Ok! Now we’re talking, fellas!!! Jeff Lynne is the man! So many potential tunes for a next step! Showdown- pure rock funk,; Telephone Line- their biggest hit and really melancholy,; Sweet Talkin Woman- great, hooked, jam; Do Ya- Rock jam; and so many more! Jeff Lynne produces for the Beatles, Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Tom Petty- look up what the Beatles and McCartney have to say about Jeff. The word “genius” truly applies. Also, the documentary “Mr. Blue Sky” about Jeff Lynne is absolutely fantastic!! A must-see!
Telephone Line, Evil Woman, Don’t Bring Me Down ...they have a ton of hits. Jeff Lynne is a prolific song writer and producer for other artists as well. He was also in the supergroup The Traveling Wilburys with Tom Petty, George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison.
omg I am sitting here chair dancing and singing along - it's been a long time! They're so creative - I've always loved ELO. ♥ Thnx Gents! ♥ There are a lot of tunes from ELO that I love - just google (I don't wanna type lol)... top hits for ELO. ♥
I’ve been scrolling through the comments to see if anyone would recommend this gorgeous song! So fabulous. And so many hits and so happy the A’s loved it. You’re going to love exploring their catalog.
You boys have hit the holy grail with ELO! Listen to this whole album (Telephone Line, Do Ya) & the next album "Out Of The Blue"! I saw them on both tours, 77 & 78!
@@Wtfumean4511I agree. I didn't mean to imply that any of their other songs were inferior, but for what Alex says he likes (Great arrangements with layers and layers to explore all wrapped up in pop melody heaven) "Mr. Blue Sky" is the next obvious choice. It's a mind-blower with one of the greatest outros ever recorded. Of all their S-Tier hits, this one stands out as the most unconventional in terms of songwriting and arrangement. I can imagine a really, really good local bar band could cover "Don't Bring Me Down" or "Turn To Stone" or " Can't Get It Out Of My Head" and do a reasonably good job that you and I would be happy with... but "Mr. Blue Sky"? No way. The song is a monster. Any of their songs will make these kids love ELO. But this song will make them invest in the vinyl.
This was when Jeff Lynne was entering his disco period. Earlier he had more bangers (Showdown comes to mind). Jeff was a producer deluxe and a huge Beatles fan.
Monsters of the late 70’s. get ready they have many incredible songs! you nailed the Beatles influences 😎👍🏻🤟🏻 A lot of their music after the 70s get very main stream pop oriented and that’s when they kind a lost me “Evil Woman” crushes “Eldorado/Cant get it Out of my Head” basically brought them to everyone’s attention. If you guys cover this make sure you use the version that includes the Eldorado overture, some cuts out there dont include it ! “Telephone Line” is another favorite. man... they were amazing
All props to John, but in this case I think he was dreaming and wanting what he could never achieve. ELO had a richer fuller sound than anything the Beatles ever did. I may take crap for my opinion, but let the cards fall
ELO just brings a smile to your face everytime you here one of their songs. I don't think I've experienced that with any other singer/group (at least not to the same extent) even today
When I was a kid I wanted to grow up and be in a rock band so I could play Don't Bring Me Down by E L O. Also check out Mr. Blue Sky which was featured in Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
Jeff Lynne is a master songwriter and producer. The live at Wembley version of this is phenomenal, and sounds almost 100% identical to the studio recording. Definitely hit "Turn To Stone" next!
This video was soooooooo overdue!!! Finally getting around to some ELO!!!!! What’s the next track by them we gotta hit guys?! Keep em’ coming! 🙌🏻🔥

Can't get it out of my head is a beautiful song
Strange Magic is awesome. The family truckster rules.

At first, I thought, no! This is the wrong one to start with! But considering the reaction, I've done a complete flip. Strap in, guys!
Can I suggest Wild West Hero and Rockaria!. Two of my favourites and often overlooked.😎
I didn't think this was their first song from ELO, but it's kinda good that is was - gave a nice orchestral intro 😁
OMG - I think Jamel listened to every ELO song but he was calling them E-Lo, like J-Lo for awhile. Short song but I really like Mr. Blue Sky. You should also do the Allman's "Blue Sky" - two happy great songs.
ELO had been going some years before this with a few albums behind them
ELO is a deeeeeep rabbit hole.
"Fire on High"
"Sweet Talkin' Woman"
"Mr. Blue Sky"
Those are my top three.

Fire on High is an awesome choice and an interesting one for those who've only heard the singles.
Turn to Stone and Evil Woman are my top two.
I just wanna say how fucking cool this is...I'm 57, and to see you guys react so positively to the music of my youth is just fantastic.
Right, I like these guys more now, knowing that with all the heavy rock they review, then still really like ELO
Music of "YOUR youth?" I'm 70 and it's also music of MY "yoot!" June

Mr. Blue Sky...the happiest song of all-time
Watch the reaction to it by Kel-n-Rich : )
CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG
Honestly, they should do the whole 'Concerto for a Rainy Day' suite: "Standing in the Rain"/"Big Wheels"/"Summer and Lightning"/"Mr. Blue Sky"
Happy AND complex!!
Yep! It's the song Yellow Submarine wanted to be... and I love me some Yellow Submarine!
Welcome to the beautiful world of ELO. Jeff Lynne is a legend.

I think the opening of 'Telephone Line' is one of the most creative and entrancing openings of any tune... ever. I love it so much.
100% agree about Telephone Line. Hope the guys include it in their schedule.
Telephone Line always makes me cry :D in a good way though!
More ELO - “Do Ya,” “Mr. Blue Sky,” “Telephone Line,” “Can’t Get It Out of My Head,” “Evil Woman”... there isn’t a bad ELO song, really...
Listen to all these they will blow u away
Turn to Stone to bop to, and Stange Magic for hippy, trippy sauce!
Yes to ALL! ✌️♥️

It's such a rich sound. Fabulous. I wish I'd heard them live in concert!
Jeff Lynne the founder of The Travelling Wilburys, and the War of the worlds album
I think "Turn To Stone" would be a great ELO song to explore. It is a bit more of a "banger."
I'd like to see that, especially that one particular part... ;-)

You were worried what two guys you don’t even know, and weren’t even born when these songs came out, think about a song?
@@HamiltonRb It's her favourite band dude. Cut her some slack.
P.S. Love the passion Cecily.
@Cecily Weinstein
We loved it so much! We’ve both played it several times since recording this!! Can’t wait to hear more!!
@@andyandalex ELO and Supertramp have always reminded me of each other (in a good way). Both great groups. A+/S-tier IMO. Well-deserved additions to this awesome channel. 👍
Turn To Stone, Mr Blue Sky, Telephone Line, and many more....Jeff Lynn (the singer) is a Beatles fan big time. He even produced some of their stuff.
Damn, Telephone Line chokes me up every time. The live version from Wembley Stadium is epic.
Nailed it Billy! Peace brudda.
Michel Lowe Jeff produced both posthumous Beatles songs “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love” for their anthology release in the 90s so, technically, he has produced the Beatles
One of the best bands ever.
Great band to get into! They were one of the heavy hitters of the late 70s and early 80s. One of my favs is " Don't bring me down"
Yeah, Don’t Bring Me Down, Last Train to London and Telephone Line.
Jeff Lynn is a music genius!!
Had the pleasure to see him live @MSG!! Out of this world!!❤❤
Jeff Lynne is the genius behind ELO. He's up there with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. Lynne can play almost any instrument imaginable. A true virtuoso.
Musician and producer. I think that's why it still seems modern when compared to current producer-heavy pop music.
To bad he nor most of the 'BAND' could play LIVE in the mid 70s.
Jeff Lynne is ELO. When he heard the Beatles’ I Am The Walrus, he thought, “I want to make a band based on this.”. He did so and more.
"I can feel by listening to this song that they got even better songs". Good observation!
"Mr. Blue Sky" should be next! After that "Turn To Stone" or "Evil Woman".
Keith DeWitt YESSSSSSSSSS!!!
What Keith DeWitt said!
John Lennon referred to ELO as "Son of Beatles". Saw Jeff Lynne's ELO last year! 70 years old and his voice sounds exactly the same! Great show!
Excellent analysis from you both. I saw them live in 75. The record can't even come close to capturing the magic they bring on stage.
@Tommy Mac I’d love to see them react to CCR’s “Suzie Q!”
Confirmed, Jeff Lynne was a true Beatlemaniac.
I hear George Harrison
He also looked like Bob Ross when he had his sunglasses on
Jeff Lynn has said several times that his concept of ELO was what the Beatles would have been had they not broken up
Agree! Turn to Stone next or Mr. Blue Sky!!! Also, still pushing for Triumph!!!! LOL
The "Time" album is one of the most underrated albums ever.
I'm recently way into Time, Secret Messages, and Balance of Power. They're incredible, and obviously stand apart from the rest of popular music at the time.
Oh there’s that TH-cam word underrated. I guess that means it’s good?
@@SR-vl6ql it means it’s good, *and* that it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves for being as good as it is.
@@DKinMN Absolutely...in that order!
Oh, I LOVE the Time album! Perfect from start to finish with standouts like The Way Lifes Meant To Be, 21th Century Man and Twilight.
Mr. Blue Sky. My gf literally cries every time she hears it, it makes her so happy.
A fairly good chance that they know that one, if they've seen Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
Newton Tomlinson it gives me chills every time.
They should check ELO live at 2015 Grammys(Evil Woman and Mr Blue Sky).
It's interesting to see the current stars(and Paul McCartney) in audience totally digging it (and an impeccable performance).
Sooo many memories with this song...love it so much. Wait till you hear Mr. Blue Sky. MR BLUE SKY!!!!!
They have SEVEN top TEN singles, you have a lot of good ones coming.
No kidding. Get the playlist logo ready, this is a deep catalog.
Dennis Gannon I also love their cover of Roll Over Beethoven. The combination of strings and guitar are amazing!!
So happy! Think I’ve re-watched this video about 10 times
They did have a ton of great singles... Interesting trivia: ELO holds the record for most Top 40 hits in America without any of them ever reaching #1.
Good List...good order.
@@Veggamattic That was deliberate 😎
Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. ELO is my happy music such vibes. I love them.
The sky is blue, grass is green, water is wet, Alex was going to love ELO.
Bravo.
"can't get it out of my head" such a great tune. His Dad got it out of him with some criticism.
Long long overdue ELO THEY BLEW ME AWAY... my boyfriend hit the floor it was amazing winter land...TURN TO STONE EVIL WOMAN, CANT GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD must must do SWEET TALKIN WOMAN!!
So he took a dive?
Was it Winterland in 74? That would have been the place to see them. Post n Steiner
Libertarian Mind he actually had too much weed and southern comfort! Woke up after ( sadly) Evil Woman
Libertarian Mind I meant sweet talking woman:-))
richard foster yes it was winter land in 74 great great show!! Amazing lights and music coordination
Finaly!!! ELO is definitely one of my all-time top bands. Sweet Talking Woman is probably my favorite song if theirs, but honestly there are so many good ones you'll be on this band for a long time. Other ones to hit: Do Ya, Turn to Stone, Evil Woman, Don't Bring Me Down, Telephone Line, the list goes on and on...
the album deepcuts are pretty damn good too.
Jeff Lynne is a bona-fide musical genius.
We ELO/Jeff Lynne fans are some of the most loyal in music (and for good reason). 👍😘
Showdown
These songs are all A+ and will bring you down into the rabbit hole with us!
Please don't forget "Do Ya"... my favorite ELO song
Wild West Hero and Mr. Blue Sky!!
and Rockaria, just for the use of the opera singing
ELO is huge! How in the hell have y'all not listened to them? Best song is obviously Mr. Blue Sky. Do it!
All there songs are peak, don’t forget that
Would love to see them in 2021-2022!!! Awesome!!
Agree with the "A+" rating. Take a listen to Fire On High, an instrumental that ELO rocks!
THIS.
Stephen.... absolutely!!! I was going to suggest the same thing. Glad someone already did so.
Do.
Evil Woman. Yes!!
Do Ya is such a killer song. Whenever I'm lucky enough to hear it in the car, I freak out (also, Matthew Sweet does a fantastic cover version).
This is one of my favorite pop rocks hits of all time
If I remember correctly Jeff Lynne, ELO, was heavily influence by The Beatles esp Revolver, Sgt. Pepper and most definitely Abbey Road. Glad you found them guys.
I've said sometimes, 'the Beatles never broke up, they just changed their name to ELO' haha
John Lennon referred to them as Son of the Beatles.
I look forward to you guys and your post. Makes me feel like a teenager and young man again discovering the music. I know nothing of Patreon but I will soon. Another great duo on TH-cam is Lost in Vegas. They are a few years older than y'all but have the same passion to discover music that was not of their time.
Turn to stone and Sweet Talkin' Woman are the bangers.
Turn to Stone is great, but
Here is the News > Sweet Talkin' Woman
Here is the news is one of the most underrated ELO tunes. Ma Belle is another banger.
Do Ya....
Personally neither of those songs are even close to their best. You are doing a disservice to the band by steering people towards those songs. They are fine songs but they don’t hit my ear the same way as at least half a dozen of their other tracks.
Ma Ma Ma Belle is a banger!
Just wanted to add to the list of great songs, Hold on tight( to your dreams). Love this track.
"Can't get it out of my Head"is awesome!!They had soooo many good songs.I saw them twice in 1978 great concerts!!
Strange Magic. Sweet Talkin Woman and yes they have more!
Jeff Lynne is awesome! He's been involved in so much music it's astounding even member of the Traveling Wilburys!
Yaaaaaay!!
Dudes - my grandma, who died 21 years ago and would have been 100 this year LOVED Electric Light Orchestra. As do I.
Jeff Lynne once said that ELO aimed to pick up where The Beatles left off...
That is a badass cool comment. You grandma was so awesome!
Yes! Love this song. Other ELO songs to check out;
"Turn to Stone"
"Sweet Talkin' Woman"
"Mr. Blue Sky"
"Strange Magic"
This song is my very first song memory from almost 50 years ago ❤
They acknowledged everyones concerns or interest based on "Orchestra" in their name - check out "Roll Over Beethovin"
Agree. Remember playing that over and over again.
the 10 minute version.....
Yes. If there is a live version. That one. I saw them live in FL in the 70s and the way the orchestra jams to the song is so much fun.
One of the few songs that they did a cover of. As I commented elsewhere on this video, Chuck Berry laid down the skeleton of what the song should be, the Beatles filled it in some, but ELO brings the song to life and makes it DANCE!
Now you know why Jeff Lynne was a part of the Traveling Wilburys along with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison.
Jeff Lyn, one of the most underrated song writers, performers and producers in the history of music...
If not a bit disco.
Nothing wrong with that.
Jeff Lynne has produced the Beatles. He’s about as close to them as you get. He was great friends with George Harrison. I hope you take this journey through to The Traveling Wilburys. Next do Telephone Line. Mr. Blue Sky and some others you’ve prob heard in movies.
Didn't he produce George's Cloud Nine album? And I think he was involved with Tom Petty also, and just just as a Traveling Wilbury.
@@richardsteiner8992 yep Full Moon Fever and Into the Great Wide Open! He was also involved with Cloud Nine
I saw him and several other stars on stage playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" as a tribute to George Harrison. It was a great performance.
My favorite band!
❤️Confusion,
Can’t get you out of my head, Do ‘ya?, Sweet talkin woman, Showdown, Last train to London! So many greats!!!!
Yay, thanks guys for making quarentine easier. Check out Turn to Stone, Don't Bring Me Down, Telephone Line, Evil Woman, Sweet Talking Woman (probably the same one after some time) Strange Magic, Do Ya!
“Do Ya” is an awesome track. Highly recommended by me! ELO/Jeff Lynn had so many great songs.
Check out ELO live, at Wembley, 2017. Awesome concert.
My votes gotta go to:
(Top 12 in no order.)
Can't Get it Out of My Head
Sweet Talking Woman
Last Train to London
Telephone Line
Evil Woman
Strange Magic
Don't Bring Me Down
Turn to Stone
Confusion
Mr. Blue Sky
All Over the World
I'm Alive
Rain is Falling
All worthy.
Last Train To London is a total bop
A must-see!
Brilliant album! Outstanding music and instantly recognisable. Thanks guys, the world needs to hear more ELO. My favourite: Mr Blue Sky.
Scott Eberhart now that was a super group!
Scott Eberhart Wilburys I love this band a must for and music library.👍🏼
This was the first record I bought with my own money. Stills holds a special place in my heart.
Hi guys!! 64 yr old lady and now a big fan. Rediscovering my youth w you two. And ELO rocks. Listen to all they give.❤💋💋💋
omg I am sitting here chair dancing and singing along - it's been a long time! They're so creative - I've always loved ELO. ♥ Thnx Gents! ♥ There are a lot of tunes from ELO that I love - just google (I don't wanna type lol)... top hits for ELO. ♥
AWESOME band and Jeff Lynne is a genius.
I bought 8 7-inch vinyl from my local car boot sale for 50p each a bargain. Great reaction guys
10538 Overture is an early one and definitely a forgotten classic by ELO
That's my favorite!
I’ve been scrolling through the comments to see if anyone would recommend this gorgeous song! So fabulous. And so many hits and so happy the A’s loved it. You’re going to love exploring their catalog.
Love blasting this in the car
You boys have hit the holy grail with ELO! Listen to this whole album (Telephone Line, Do Ya) & the next album "Out Of The Blue"! I saw them on both tours, 77 & 78!
S-Tier.... "Mr. Blue Sky". This is the one. They have a ton of great songs... but this is the one. Alex, this is the one.
Respectfully disagree. ELO has more than one S Tier song. Of course Mr Blue Sky is in that category.
Very Beatlesque
Not really Disco more like Power Pop
Remember the album Disco-Very?
Showdown is great.
ELO just give you so much to listen to in one song. It’s a feast for the ears
Monsters of the late 70’s. get ready they have many incredible songs! you nailed the Beatles influences 😎👍🏻🤟🏻 A lot of their music after the 70s get very main stream pop oriented and that’s when they kind a lost me
“Evil Woman” crushes
“Eldorado/Cant get it Out of my Head” basically brought them to everyone’s attention. If you guys cover this make sure you use the version that includes the Eldorado overture, some cuts out there dont include it !
“Telephone Line” is another favorite.
man... they were amazing
John Lennon once said in an interview that if the Beatles had continued they would sound like ELO.
All props to John, but in this case I think he was dreaming and wanting what he could never achieve. ELO had a richer fuller sound than anything the Beatles ever did. I may take crap for my opinion, but let the cards fall
James Pittman All props to ELO, but in this case your definition of a fuller sound is limited to lots of strings & synth. ‘ All u need is love!’
Lennon refers to ELO in part 4 of the following link as “Son of Beatles:”
www.denniselsas.com/john-lennon/
ELO just brings a smile to your face everytime you here one of their songs. I don't think I've experienced that with any other singer/group (at least not to the same extent) even today
Chicago does that, Wings, the power of music is incredible!
ELO and Steely Dan have one thing in common. Both bands mix styles of music in a way that should not work... but it does work... somehow.
Love SD's Reelin' in the Years
Their double album Out of the Blue is a masterpiece! Not one bad song on the album. Start out with Mr. Blue Sky.
You should see them live.....blow your mind...
When I was a kid I wanted to grow up and be in a rock band so I could play Don't Bring Me Down by E L O. Also check out Mr. Blue Sky which was featured in Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
Jeff Lynne is a Genius. WROTE ALL SONGS, MUSIC, played guitar and is lead singer
Saw ELO in Hampton, Virginia back in the late 70’s. One of the best concerts I ever saw. Jeff Lynn is a master at his craft.
Jeff Lynne is a master songwriter and producer. The live at Wembley version of this is phenomenal, and sounds almost 100% identical to the studio recording. Definitely hit "Turn To Stone" next!
