Great reaction, one of my favorite songs ~~ OMG OMG OMG 🤩💓 My brother just bought tickets for us today for ELO in Chicago in September! I am so excited I can hardly stand it!! I'm going to be like a kid waiting for Christmas for the next 6 months!!!
Electric Light Orchestra have a deep, deep catalogue. Orchestral Prog Rock. I'd recommend their Evil Woman next but they've got a ton of hits - Sweet Talkin' Woman, Turn To Stone , Tightrope, Big Wheels / Summer and Lightning, Roll Over Beethoven, I'm Alive, Rockaria, Last Train To London, Telephone Line, All Over the World, So Fine, Mr. Blue Sky, Strange Magic, Can't Get It Out Of My Head, Confusion, Don't Bring Me Down, Showdown to name most of their hits!
A rabbit hole definitely worth going down! Jeff Lynne is legendary. ELO has a huge catalog that I highly recommend you exploring! Thanks for this great reaction and choice! ✌💙✌
Some facts about Jeff Lynne (ELO)...First, he is a very humble man, simply because this Music Genius is not interested in fame, the limelight, and money, he just loves to create great music. Jeff Lynne is one of the most versatile musicians ever, this is why he is considered by his peers to be among the greatest. He didn't stick to one style of music because, after decades, it gets boring. Jeff has done progressive Rock, Symphonic Rock - Pop, New wave, and Disco. Everything he does turns to gold. He even flirted with Country music. From 1972 to 1986 (During 14 years) Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra has had more top 40 hits than any other group in the world... 51 years later they still play in sold-out Arenas, festivals and Stadiums. During Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 Tour, many reviews agreed in saying they are the best live Classic Rock Band in the world still touring and Jeff Lynne is a Music Genius( From Forbes Magazine and the Washington Post). ELO is in the Rock Hall of Fame. Lynne is on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Birmingham Walk OF Fame. Jeff Lynne’s ELO won the Best Classic Rock Band plus Lynne won the best Songwriter award ( ASCAP ) in 2019 for his fantastic contribution over the years. In October of 2020, Jeff Lynne has been made an officer of The Order Of The British Empire for his extraordinary contribution to music. He previously has received three Ivor Novello Awards, which celebrate songwriters and composers, including the award for outstanding services to British music. He created the best Super Group of all time with his best friend George Harrison, The Traveling Wilburys. The Legends in the Music Industry call Jeff Lynne the best overall Musician ever and a Producer Extraordinaire. Jeff Lynne has written and produced many hit songs for music legends like George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Del Shannon, the Everly Brothers, The Beatles, and so many others...In June 2023 Jeff Lynne was inducted in The Songwriters Hall Of Fame ❤👍💯
@@MegaSlowburner Well my Beatles could have been sitting in their homes playing with their balls if it wasn't for the following ones... Three great influences that shaped The Beatles' music include Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and The one and only King, Elvis Presley. While all three of these musicians impacted The Beatles strongly, Elvis' style, sound, and all-around charisma left a lasting impression on all four of the young, eager members. The Beatles were also influenced by Cliff Richard and The Shadows, Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, The Beach Boys, The Everly Brothers, The Byrds, Ravi Shankar and Eric Clapton. 13 Beatles Hits That 'Rip Off' Other Songs th-cam.com/video/BSkHRigtkrk/w-d-xo.html
Good point but Jeff was a gopher in Abbey Road Studios when The Beatles were in their prime. Hence he has a Beatlesque tone. So yeah it doesn't matter. If it does.....nobody is listening.
Right on Joe Powell!! ElO is just that good. It's just another example of how good music of the 70s was. Its a golden era and music today is so bad it really amplifies how great the 70s stuff was and how shitty today's music is!!
ELO had a very unique sound and a bunch of really big hits in the late 70's and early 80's. I didn't know who Jeff Lynne himself was. I remember them as a kid and hearing them now I'm realizing how talented they were. You guys would probably know some of their other popular songs...Don't Bring Me Down, Evil Woman, and Hold on Tight. Great review guys.
Wembley in London is a gihugic soccer stadium. You guys should react to Freddy Mercury and Queen’s legendary 20 minute set there from the Live Aid fundraiser for Africa in the 80’s. All at Wembley!!!!!❤❤
I love Jeff Lynne and ELO. They have so many great hits. Some of them have featured in movies but the only one I can recall of the top of my head is "Evil Woman" in one of the Austin Powers movie. Jeff Lynne was also one of the Travelling Wilburys and you could really hear his influence on their songs. If you haven't reacted to the Traveling Wilburys yet - you really should. They were a supergroup of Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and George Harrison.
I saw ELO in concert in 1977 @ 16, awesome show! ❤ been a fan every since. It was a guilty pleasure for all the hard rock guys in the 70's because most teenage boys wouldn't admit to liking ELO😊
This is part of a Documentary 'Wembley or Bust'.They sound just rhe same as their Studio versions, amazing.Used to listen on the School Bus and took up the Cello. Many young ones, hearing it from their parents and other ways came along. Beloved.🌹🏴
Awesome reaction! And great suggestions from others.. Later in his career, Jeff Lynne also joined a host of other superstars to form The Travelling Wilburys.. Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and George Harrison. That's another plunge for you folks! Thanks gents! Keep them coming!
Nothing better then ELO, very popular my Senior Year in high school. Electric Light Orchestra! "All Over The World" is another great song by ELO, they have so many!
They were still active when I was in middle school & they were 1 of the few bands in the 1980s that they'd let us play at school dances. P.S. if you've seen the Guardians of the Galaxy movies you've heard their song "Mr. Blue Sky" on the soundtrack (1 of the happiest songs ever).
ELO was one of the biggest hit makers of the 1970s through early 1980s. Their music was everywhere. Your next reaction should be a typical choice: the long version of “Mr Blue Sky” as you’ve likely heard it before. Baby Groot danced to it in Guardians 2. By the way, hip hop groups have sampled ELO’s grooves and hooks. And one of musical genius Jeff Lynne’s many collabs was with Tom Petty (Won’t Back Down, Free Fallin’, etc.).
This Wembley concert is perhaps one of their finest. I've seen them many times over the decades, beginning in the mid-70s, and they are absolutely superb live in concert. I love that Jeff Lynne is over 70 here and performing just as captivatingly as he did in his youth. They're musical geniuses.
E.L.O. is and was amazing. Saw them live. And Jeff Lynn played a wireless violin, and went up and down the isles while playing it. He did all the arrangements, and did all his own mixing in the studio. Unreal!!! Go check out Mr. Blue Sky.. 😄
Like I said in the telephone line on the other video, this is from 2016 ! 40 years after this song was released !! These guys were incredible and still are.
The tip of a very large iceberg! Turn To Stone, Last Train To London, Wild West Hero, Sweet Talkin’ Woman, Diary Of Horace Whimp. So many amazing songs and all featuring the “Orchestra” part of Electric Light Orchestra .
Ahh….ELO…..an amazing sound from my high school days! Never seen this video! Thank you so much! Always loved their unique style and it’s amazing to see every note which is etched in my brain for all time come to life! You gentlemen know what I mean, I’m assuming…..a favorite piece from your youth….each note plays along in your head. The brain is such an amazing thing…music leaves an imprint (if you let it) and I truly enjoy watching you all react….can feel the joy and love! Bless you! 😽🎶
Go back to early days of ELO - their version of Roll Over Beethoven. They did it live on the Midnight Special around 1974 or 75. It builds on Chuck Berry’s original. The use of cellos makes it special.
And think about this this song was released in 1976 and this was live at Wembley Stadium 2017!!! Listen to the studio version, you will be amazed how close the songs are studio and live!!!
The wonderful thing about this (and other) concerts is that everyone, the band and the audience had a smile, eight to eighty wonderful! Wembley (London) was great. Not bad for 70 year old!
ELO was always a good band and really fun to listen to. Telephone Line probably got the most play . The ultimate break up heartbroken song . Not to mention Jeff Lynn's time with the traveling wulberrys. Great stuff .
Their live performances sound as good as the studio versions. They don't call themselves "Electric Light ORCHESTRA" for nothing with those amazing strings. They have SO many awesome songs and I love this one, but I think my favorite one of theirs is "Evil Woman", but then there's "Mr. Blue Sky" (where you can really hear the Beatle influence), "Telephone Line" is another popular one as well as "Don't Bring Me Down". Please keep checking them out, gentlemen!
Definitely Telephone Line live from Wembley !!! They were one of the biggest and greatest bands of the 70s and 80s. Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. Dude is pushin' 70 y.o. in this vid !
Thanks for picking this one, I had never seen this performance. I kind of felt bad for the audience and the band when it was ending, they were so into it. ELO is enjoying a nice comeback, there are people who dislike them and Jeff Lynne in particular. I think they are missing out, but everyone has different taste I guess.
I enjoy your variety of music reactions fellas! Just so you know,Electric Light Orchestra(ELO), went into the Rock and Roll hall of fame a few years ago.they had so,so many hits. Thanks!
Just some of their greatest feel good songs, Jeff Lynn and E. L. O. are legendary. You want classic songs, here you go ! "All Over the World", "Do Ya", "Don't Bring Me Down", "Evil Woman", "Livin' Thing", "Mr. Blue Sky", "Rock 'n' Roll Is King", "Rockaria!", "Roll Over Beethoven", "Showdown", "Strange Magic", "Sweet Talkin' Woman", "Telephone Line", "Tightrope",
Thanks so much.. Guys.. Jeff Lynne is the genius behind this band (ELO - Electric Light Orchestra - this was a big hit for them.. the fact they could still do it live, so many years later... give it up, dudes!).. and also.. check him out in the best "super-group" evah! with George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and the amazing Roy Orbison.. they were called "the Traveling Wilburys".. you will not be disappointed!
You will recognize Don't Bring Me Down as soon as you start listening (and probably a few others). ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) is an addictive band !
This is actually a good live version, but I still say always listen to the studio version the first time you hear a new artist/song. Especially artists like ELO, Jeff Lynne is famous for his recording techniques he developed that gave them their signature sound in the studio.
*Corey, it was me who suggested this song/this band.* Thanks for honoring my request, I'm stoked all 3 of you dug it! Before I recommend the next song from ELO for you to react to, let me clarify some things for you about the band. During their initial and primary career from '72 - '86, they were simply known as, Electric Light Orchestra, or ELO, for short. Jeff Lynne was the founder/leader of the band, but his name was not part of the band name. That's a more recent change that's too complicated to get into. Suffice it to say, back in the day they were Electric Light Orchestra or ELO, but today they go by, Jeff Lynne's ELO. (If you want more details on why the name changed, tell me, and I'll reply with that info.) As for the whole "guilty pleasure" thing Fenom was referencing, it had to do with the fact that the word "orchestra" turned off hard rock listeners in the '70s, so for teenaged males in particular, it was uncool to like ELO. Orchestras were bands that our parents and grandparents listened to, and even though ELO fused electric rock instruments with a light orchestra, that stuffy old word "orchestra" in the band's title stopped some guys from even exploring their music, or stopping other guys from admitting they did buy and listen to their albums. And yup, I was guilty of that, myself. ELO was my favorite band, but when I went to see them in '78 I didn't tell my most of my guy friends, nor did I buy an ELO t-shirt at the concert. LOL The silly ego issues young men have. But girls LOVED the band, and weren't afraid to show it. And where the "guilty pleasure" thing came in, was that plenty of guys loved them, too, but just didn't like to admit it. lol So the band was super successful, cranking out more Top 40 Hits in the US and UK combined, 47, than any other band in the world during that same '72 - '86 period! You'll see a lot of guys in ELO reaction song comments sections say stuff like, "I never gave them a chance in the '70s, but dayum they effin' rock!" Or, "I loved ELO in the '70s and had all their records, but didn't let my buddies know." Hey, before I recommend another song from them, Corey, let me ask you a question. Do you strongly prefer to have songs with videos to react to, or are you guys just as cool with reacting to the audio only? The reason I ask is because ELO's prime years were before the MTV era, and so there are not many music videos, and the few that do exist are not the best quality. Let me know. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
@@thisisitreactions You didn't answer my question. Do you only want to react to songs that have visual content, like a music video, or a live performance? Or are you cool with reacting to just the audio of songs?
Not sure why you picked a recent live recording with only 1 original band member. They have an official video for this song, and there's another video of the original band performing (miming to the studio track) at the 1977 AMAs, and a third video of them actually playing live on The Midnight Special. Any one of those would have been a better way to introduce this band and hear a vintage recording (be it studio or Live) of the song.
@@bossfan49 I chose it because it's a stellar performance, plus I knew the magnitude of the crowd size alone would impress them into wanting to explore this band that none of them had ever heard of before. It worked. ps~My druthers would've been to have them react to just the audio of the studio cut first, but I think they only react to songs with visual content, I'm not sure, I'm awaiting their answer to that question before I recommend the next ELO song.
@@bossfan49 The Wembley Concert and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame shows are the best they've ever sounded on video. I've been a big record buying fan of theirs since 1973. I'm for putting their best face forward for an intro. The gents can dig to find the earlier stuff. Jeff Lynne regrets the sound quality of the earlier records from him having to bounce tracks on the limited tech of the day to get the bigger more complicated sound he was looking for.
This was one of the great concerts, where every note and harmony was perfromed to perfection by an ensemble of brilliant musicians, in front of an adoring audience that ranged across the generations. Do yourselves a favour and check out the whole concert. Whereas most bands will deliver a few hits the audience wants to hear, ELO delivered one after another, classic hit after classic hit. Jeff Lyne is one of Britain's greatest musical geniuses. Cheers from the UK.
Mr. Blue Skies is one of their biggest and most recognizable songs. They have a pretty huge catalogue to dive into :) I think you all will LOVE The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. ICONIC song.
The quality of the vid was outstanding no interruptions , it actually showed the size of the crowd . Play more , telephone line is my favourite same concert
ELO is a great rabbit hole to go down. Amazing music created by Jeff Lynne. You've for sure heard of a few of their songs. John Lennon from the Beatles commented that ELO was the son of the Beatles. They were so influenced by them.

And, of course, The Diary of Horace Wimp...which might be a good next reaction.
Strange Magic has haunted me for decades. I think it will until I die.

Jeff the lead singer was 72 when he done this live performance. He wrote this back in the 70s
So much ELO to discover, enjoy the journey.
The beautiful lady with the violin is Rosie Langley, a beautiful rose on stage.
Go back to early days of ELO - their version of Roll Over Beethoven. They did it live on the Midnight Special around 1974 or 75. It builds on Chuck Berry’s original. The use of cellos makes it special.
ELO songs always make me smile.

Love the violins in this classic song!
Audience of all ages, most know all of the words and sing along, dance and just enjoy the party.
LIFE is PRECIOUS
The wonderful thing about this (and other) concerts is that everyone, the band and the audience had a smile, eight to eighty wonderful! Wembley (London) was great. Not bad for 70 year old!
ELO was always a good band and really fun to listen to. Telephone Line probably got the most play . The ultimate break up heartbroken song . Not to mention Jeff Lynn's time with the traveling wulberrys. Great stuff .

Their live performances sound as good as the studio versions. They don't call themselves "Electric Light ORCHESTRA" for nothing with those amazing strings. I saw Electric Light Orchestra in concert in the mid 70s and they were amazing! Listen to Telephone Line next! But then, anything by ELO is great!
You'll see a lot of guys in ELO reaction song comments sections say stuff like, "I never gave them a chance in the '70s, but dayum they effin' rock!" Or, "I loved ELO in the '70s and had all their records, but didn't let my buddies know."
Hey, before I recommend another song from them, Corey, let me ask you a question. Do you strongly prefer to have songs with videos to react to, or are you guys just as cool with reacting to the audio only? The reason I ask is because ELO's prime years were before the MTV era, and so there are not many music videos, and the few that do exist are not the best quality. Let me know.

Much love!!!! Thanks for suggesting it! It really was a great song!
The Cellist on this song is A ROCK STAR
Mr. Blue Skies is one of their biggest and most recognizable songs. They have a pretty huge catalogue to dive into :) I think you all will LOVE The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. ICONIC song.
You'd never imagine that Jeff Lynne was 71 years old at the time of this concert.
Love the strings 👏
The quality of the vid was outstanding no interruptions , it actually showed the size of the crowd . Play more , telephone line is my favourite same concert
Love ELO, one of my favourite bands. Saw them in concert a few years ago, they have more hit singles in the 70's/80's you can shake a stick at .
Great show to see!
Great reaction you guys are great!
Their song "telephone line" Live at Wembley is amazing.
ELO is a great rabbit hole to go down. Amazing music created by Jeff Lynne. You've for sure heard of a few of their songs. John Lennon from the Beatles commented that ELO was the son of the Beatles. They were so influenced by them.
