First to comment! I recall “taking a gamble” on an S2 in 2016 as a new mom, when everyone in my cold corner of the USA still used ye olde Borg Cube open system Medela PISA! The LC at the hospital said “neat I’ve heard about this Spectra brand but never seen one.” When I had baby 2 in 2023 Spectra S1/S2 was market standard. It’s the only pump I’d consider getting second hand because they are rugged machines and you can check the hours - but if you do that chuck everything but the pump and replace the tubing and kits to avoid any nasties. Love MayMom for off brand kits. Good luck parents!

I’m a first-time mom with the Spectra S1! One other con is that it starts in expression mode and you have to switch it to stimulation mode. When I first started exclusively pumping at home I had no idea what I was doing (and didn’t think to consult TH-cam), so I was spending the first minute in expression mode and then sitting in stimulation mode for the rest of the 30 minutes! That was definitely sensory overload. And my milk supply greatly improved once I figured out my mistake! 😅😂

S2 is the only one I found that gets me a good out out but still doesn’t hurt.

I have exclusively pumped for two children, and I personally like Medela more than Spectra. Now I understand what the reason may be: the sensory issues. I'm lucky to have access to Medela Symphony at work. I like listening to you - your videos are very informative.
I have another question: I have been successfully pumping for my second baby when I found out that I'm pregnant again (my baby was 8 months old at this point). I know it is generally advised to continue to breastfeed, but there are many different opinions about using breast pumps. I decided to decrease the amount of pumping to avoid excessive nipple stimulation, and now my baby gets some milk and some formula. But I did not want to stop completely. What are your thoughts on that? Have you made a video on this topic yet? Thank you!

What breast pump would you recommend to increase breast milk to someone who struggles low milk supply

I bought the Spectra Dual S for my main pump and a Horigen Wondermore (pink portable, which I see on your drawer altho sad it wasn't included in your video on portables since it's widely available and inexpensive where I'm from). I'm still pregnant and am worried about transitioning from the strong suction + high cycle speeds on the dual s vs. the fast cycle speeds but low suction in stimulation mode + ok suction but low cycle speed in expression mode on the Horigen portable.
