Super curious what your experience with both pumps has been like?! Pros/Cons? Comparisons between the Motif and SG? How you are been using the combination of this set up?? =) Btw Congratulations Mama! Hope you and your new little one are doing super well!

@@eliciaroseheator3305 Hi there! So somethings have changed! I really enjoyed using the SG, it emptied me out within 10-15mins tops, being able to customize the cycle/suction was super convenient! And it's sleek look always made me excited to pump Lol. Later I realized I didn't really need a stationary pump like I thought I would so I traded it. The Motif in comparison had too gentle of a suction for me and didn't respond to the pump as effectively.
Now I have two portable pumps with the Pumpables Genie Advanced as my main and the Elvie Stride as my mobile. I love the PGA, it's very comparable to the SG (aside from the duel motors). The Stride is very good too-- I just find myself pumping longer with it though to get a large output.
And thank you!! The little one is growing up fast! 💖 She's starting to get more interactive and it's a lot of fun 😊.

Is the Spectra Synergy Gold…easy to use for someone who is new at breastfeeding? FTM here and will be taking a breastfeeding class, but I am so overwhelmed and really torn between portable, vs not portable. I have heard portable isn’t always great for getting all the milk out. I would but a SAHM so I don’t need to be portable, but I can see it coming in handy… my insurance will cover most of it, but it’s an upgrade. I didn’t see the S1 available..only the S2 and the gold. Can you buy another charger adapter so I can have it for example plugged in on my bedside and another on plugged in downstairs? It stinks my insurance won’t cover the Spectra 1….because I really don’t want to pump exclusively. But then I worry about supply. Hmmmm.

  • @mitchjohnson4714
    @mitchjohnson4714 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

So I gather that (a) the different pump strengths on the synergy are really nice and it's just a question of whether the mobility offered by the S2 is more nice or less nice than that feature. And I get that that depends on your lifestyle.
But it would be super helpful for me to understand the effect of the mobility on one's lifestyle. Like, you can't go shopping with it, right? Can you do chores with it? Can you walk around the house with it? Can you drive with it? If not to those question, is the usefulness mostly in the fact that you can easily pump in different rooms? If anyone could help me understand what kinds of activities you can do with the mobile S2 that you can't really do with the Synergy, I'd appreciate it.
I'm thinking of going with the Synergy for my wife because she's typically lived a mostly sedentary lifestyle before getting pregnant and in her job. She mostly works from home at her desk. Even if she goes into the office, it will probably be maybe 2 times a week with a 80 minute commute (total) and will work at a desk.
I will be doing the housework and other than her job, she will be mostly free to sit around.
I'm sure she will want to get up and do things, but the point is that she also has lots of time in which she can sit and so I'm assuming that she doesn't really need the mobility of the S2 as much as she might appreciate the dual motors on the Synergy. Does that sound right? Thanks so much.

I’m about to have my second child and I used the Spectra S1 & S2 (same as S1, but plug-in), and Elvie Pump with my first child. You ask a great question about mobility, because I think that’s a great factor to consider when choosing a breast pump. If the breast pump is battery-powered, you can use it anywhere - in theory. I personally wouldn’t use a pump like S1 when out of the house and trying to grocery shop, go shopping, or do something in public. For tasks like that, I would rather use a discrete pump, one where I wouldn’t have to worry about exposing part/full chest + pumping bra and having tubes dangling. Therefore, smaller pumps like the Spectra S9, Willow, Elvie Pump, Elvie Stride, etc would be better for those kinds of activities, IMHO.
I think the appeal of the S1 portability is that you can carry it around with you and not have to worry about being plugged in, effectively stationary and tethered to a spot with a plug. While the baby is not very mobile, these might not be such a big deal and a S2 or Synergy Gold is fine. If your wife wants to move around, cook, clean, laundry, or things she has to do while (assuming) you’re not with her at work, then the S2 would be more convenient.
Since you describe your wife as having mostly a sedentary lifestyle, and if cost is an issue, I would recommend the S2. The main advantage I would say that breast pumps like the Spectra S1/S2/Synergy Gold have over smaller more portable or wearable pumps like Willow and Elvie is that they have more power. Maybe it was just my experience, but my Spectra pump sessions were a lot faster than my Elvie Pump. One of the main reasons I think so, is because I wasn’t able to monitor the amount of milk coming out directly from my nipple with the Elvie (thanks to the white hub and bottle being on the bottom), vs the clear plastic flanges of Spectra. I hope that helps! Best wishes on your journey as first time parents!

@@Born1986 Thanks so much. We originally went with the expensive Spectra one that has dual action. I forget what it's called. Like I said, I thought she would be fine with this, but it turns out she really decided she wanted a more mobile one. She bought what I think is the Elvie battery powered one that she likes much better. She REALLY likes the fact that if she needs to drive somewhere, she can hop in the car and doesn't have to be tethered. Or she can walk around doing stuff.

Great Video!!! Love the information, I ended up ordering the Spectra Synergy Gold. I picked the gold to be have the ability to adjust one side due to sensitivity. Also a couple years ago I had a small bicycle accident, and caused damage to one of my breast ducts, so the gold should be more helpful to me.

  • @nikkinovello6638

Is there a weight difference between the gold and the Spectra 1? (Is one more heavy than the other?) I thought I was set on the Spectra 1 and just checked and now the Gold is being offered free from my insurance too so now I'm back to making a decision. lol
This is my second baby so I'm leaning more towards the gold now..... but the over the handle light and the portability of the 1 is great.

I tried the SG with the portable battery I used in the past with my S2 and apparently it works fine , I'm not a hundred percent sure if the suction is the same because I don't have one of those devices to measure it. But it feels powerful enough for me and after checking the specs on the battery apparently it is enough. But I only use it when I really need to move because im not sure hahahaha. I would love to have an accurate comparison between it plugged in vs with the battery cause if it really works I think it would be great for a lot of moms.
