The departure out of Runway 23 is even more beautiful with clear sky. You get to turn east after initial climb, and see the entire suburb, downtown Toronto and the airport. When I flew the same flight last October, it was around sunset, making it even more spectacular.
I flew a couple time to Toronto and we flew over the city. It’s also a gorgeous route.

That was great. I've never seen the pilots view from the flight deck before. It sounded very confusing to me with the different pilots and air traffic controllers talking.

Great to see the take-off procedure, especially from my local airport. Must be tough for non-English pilots, learning all the terminology in English.

Are the rectangles on the wings on the control MFD spoilers? I noticed they activate when the aileron on that side go up far enough.. 🤔

Thanks to you 😉 yes, it's something like 200kt! Not sure, but we use it only during taxi, takeoff or final app so we're never very fast!

It's interesting, you'd think that we'd be so technically advanced now that you'd type in the flight number, and CLICK, all the buttons set to what they need to be at that second. But that's not the safe or efficient way to do it, and enough mistakes are made where there are assumptions made, even by pilots.
And these guys are STILL smarter than the elements, the radios, the problems in back, the broken landing gear, the loss of hydraulics, a flared out engine and a goose stuck in the windshield, and they bring these down like landing on a bubble bath. As a passenger I want to know that the plane CAN land itself, but that there's someone there doing it anyway. (Although I've seen a plane land in windshear that acted like there wasn't any windshear.) THANK YOU flight crews!!
Now i see why I have to wait very long inside the plane before the takeoff 😂

J’aurais deux petites questions :
- Concernant la procédure EO (trajectoire, altitude, …), est-ce Air France qui vous la donne sur chaque aéroport ? Ou c’est à vous de la briefer en fonction des informations disponibles sur les cartes SID/STAR/approche ?
- J’ai remarqué que vous aviez activité le WING ANTI-ICE sur ON et que vous aviez laissé les ENGINE ANTI-ICE sur AUTO (ou l’inverse ?) : dans quels cas devez-vous activer chacun d’eux ?

Oui c'est à la compagnie de décider des procédures EO et donc nous les avons par avance.
Pour ce qui est des AI nous mettons les Engines au takeoff si la piste est mouillée et qu'il fait moins de 10⁰C et nous mettons les wing par dessus lorsque les conditions sont vraiment givrantes.

Why are the flap setting’s different on certain takeoffs? Is it because the weather or runway length?
The more the aircraft is heavy and the runway is short, the more we extend the flaps for takeoff 🛫
