It's incredible ofcourse but trust me It's not really as complex as many of us think... humans are capable of much more... for example designing a b2 spirit bomber in 1988 is a marvel of engineering... sending rockets onto moon and mars.. sending voyager 1 and 2 in 1977 is crazy to think about and they are still working... There are literally fly sized camera drones designed in 1970s by US called micro unmanned aerial vehicle UAV... that is crazy to think what the military has today that we don't know.. We think passenger planes are modern marvel but they are very very far from what humans has actually achieved
It's very easy for me to take landings for granted but watching this video reminds me how so many things must be well coordinated and executed properly and night landings are definitely cool ! Thanks to all the pilots, copilots and the rest of crew including the ones on the ground for each and every flight ! :)

That approach controller that handed them off to tower deserves an award for best atc voice, that’s my guy 😂😂😂 I’ve heard him flying over NYC such a commanding voice.
@@rodbroker Alberto Santos-Dumont (you didn't even spell his name right) did not invent heavier-than-air aircraft. He was a pioneer in aviation for sure, but the Wright brothers were still the first. Dumont didn't fly a plane until 1906, and the Wright brothers first did it in 1903.
Finding the correct path to the terminal once on the ground is amazingly complex…especially at night. Great respect for these people who perform this job.

What a privilege , watching and hearing these professionals, at the top of their careers, doing what they are gifted to do. My mom and I were in an emergency landing on Northwest Orient when I was just ten years old. Ever since I have the greatest reverence for pilots and all aircrew. Thanks for the film!

A380 crosses the threshold at a sedate 140 knots. And touches down at around 130 knots. So, very slowly, in fact, and a slow deceleration over 20 seconds results in a very soft touchdown and slowdown.
everytime i watch these im just amazed at the calmness in what is chaos of a active airport, flights coming and going every minute, baggage being uploaded and loaded, planes being taxi'd around, its amazing the system works 99% of the time, it a logistical miracle.
Beautiful landing at my favorite Airport. We often take landings like this for granted. Great job by the crew, and all crews that land you all safely to and from..
I have been into there and it does take ages from landing to parking, or indeed the other way round. A far cry from my youth near Leeds Bradford (LBA) when your plane was the only one there and taxiing took three minutes!
It is amazing how the electronic-glass displays mimic the needle-damping of analog mechanical and electro-mechanical displays, allowing crew to easily follow patterns of change in the instruments.
@@karhukivi and all of those devices are being read by electronic sensors. Yes, you still see analog backups and redundancies, but those are just that, backups. The main gauges and instruments are all electronic and are far more capable and customizeable.
@@oneTOU3 The 100 above doesn't refer to the height, it refers to the minimum set by the pilots. So they are 100 above their minimum descent altitude. The altitude where they have to have the runway insight.
This reminded me of when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon, but now in 2023 we take it for granted just to land in Manhattan, unless you are a flight enthusiast like myself, then this is gold
Sometimes upon exiting a plane after a flight I see a pilot packing up to leave and I always thank him or her for a great job they did ! Don’t pass up that opportunity. Jets fly on autopilot but it takes a pilots to make it happen.
Me too. I will linger as people disembark, so that I can wander out last (unless I'm late for a connector flight), and I always thank the pilot(s). I did my pilot training in Spain many years ago, but never to this level. Amazing jobs by all!

You have NO clue of how high the IQ of your cashier is, still you think "ah this dude is a cashier, hes dumb, otherwise he wouldnt do this job". As I already stated, Pilots do get paid A LOT more money than a cashier for doing their job. I was also jobbing at McDonalds between semesters while studying and now I'm a leading process engineer in a rather big company. Don't judge a book by its covers and don't applaud for someone doing their job, when you don't do that for everybody. :)
MSFS just keeps getting better and better, every single year. Now it features focal depth of field, city lights, and even vehicle movements - like in DCS. Truly amazing!

We just had a near miss at JFK on exactly the same runway and taxi area. Great to see how complicated it is at night and how you still have to be at a high concentration level even after landing to negotiate this part of JFK.
I don't think that I could be a pilot because I'd be mesmerised by all the pretty lights at night, and decide to land the plane on a highway because the lights looked so nice.

My bad, it was the new MS2020 Flight Simulator that brought me to Aviation but I should know (or remember) the name HiFly. To "compensate" I knew very well the the name Carlos Mirpuri and his investments at this sector. After reading the comments I understand that the Captain is himself. Congratulations to the "captain" and in special to the "entrepreneur". As I and my wife will travel at November who knows if we find a destination (not decided yet) flying with HiFly;-)

A long way to the terminal! I recall being on the runway at the Honolulu Airport and taking 15 mins or so to get to the threshold for take-off! The Captain advised us that we were going to fly to Sydney, eventually!
😅 "Eventually." Honolulu and Sydney I've not travelled to. Likely won't. Enjoyed my first international flight - at age 65- last September. Washington DC (IAD) to Vienna, Austria on Austrian Airlines.

I'm always interested in the lighting inside the cockpit at night - a heck of a lot of thought must have gone into getting a colour and intensity scheme just right so that every dial, button, display etc was clearly identifiable, while allowing the Pilot and FO's eyes to retain as full an outside vision as possible. Loved those views outside. Hope you enjoyed your day in Manhattan!

Honestly, taxiing can be as stressful as anything else. These guys are calm and competent, but I remember being really tense my first time taxiing after landing at a class B airport.
This had me confused as i knew that Norwegian have never owned an A380 but after some research i learned that they wet leased this A380 from Hi-Fly for a few weeks to stand in for the somewhat grounded Dreamliner fleet when they were having Trent 1000 problems.

As a kid pre 9.11 I had a chance to go into the cockpit from ireland to Canada one of the best views I've ever seen in my life.

Have no idea how these pilots do what they do, extraordinary.

@and321now And all that work is now outdated by some code, impressive how tech just moves along. Same with radios, all software now.
The electronic displays do not provide the inputs they display, there are still gyroscopic and radio devices doing that.

Getting towed in is a good deal as a pilot. Connected to the tug is the only time you are not responsible if you hit something.
