Pay attention to the text that was added into the video. I made some mistakes and the text will tell you more about it. Overall it is an easy install and you should not be afraid to give this a shot!

Good work mate, im about to swap d14 manifold to d16 and your video helped me a lot. My shitbox is eating more oil than fuel so i know i should do other things in it but being a civic owner have its rules right XD. keep up the good work greets from poland.
Sweet! Thank you so much for the comment and feedback
Great video ! This is so underrated. After watching 5 videos on how to do it , this is the one I learned the most , thanks !
Broke del Sol gooooood! When I was trying to do it the first time I had trouble finding a video that explained everything so I figured I would make one. I’m glad it helped you out!
Broke del Sol ... highly agree not to many people are really explaining what to do and most videos sound quality sucks
Same here every question I had you answered , thanks from UK
Same here! I will do the swap soon and this answered all my questions! Thanks man.
So glad I could help!!
Would this be the same process on a 1999 civic?
I would imagine it would be the same
Do you have a y7 or y8 head?
Seth Kendrick Peralta this is a y7 head
The manifold with the extra holes by the ports is a 99-00. The Auto-Trans version has the ports on the back blocked off, which is what you want. So the best manifold to use is a '96 to '98 Auto-Trans EX one.
Elbert W. Reiziger ohhh okay. Thank you for that information. I did not realize that
How about for a 1999 Honda civic?
@@JohnnieIsBored For a Manual 99 Civic get the Manifold from a 96-98 EX Automatic. That's what I did on my 99 DX Hatch (manual).
@@ElbertWR thank you for your reply. Did you have any issues with idles or anything? How is it holding up so far?
@@ElbertWR should I also follow this exact step from this video to have a smooth install?
That one bracket i can't loosen up removed the head, distributor, all the hoses and fuel rail
If i put a brand new or rebuilt head on a 1998 civic dx (d16y7)with 250,000 miles, without rebuilding the bottom end, is that a bad idea? Is there any chance of blowing engine? Any opinions would be appreciated.
It the Cam shaft in the y7the same as the y8 just want to no because one of my friends have a 1999 Honda Civic with the 1.6I and I just want to check it's out and thank you for your help.
@@JohnboyDawson no it will not work. The Y8 is a vtec cam so they are different. Best bet is to swap the whole head
Thanks for the video. It helped me out when I swap my y7 intake for a y8 automatic from 98 that I had laying around. I noticed the difference in power and sound its louder now. Have y8 head that I'm gonna rebuild and then it going on there too.
i realize I am kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good website to watch newly released series online ?
i did this swap and it idles around 1500-2000 rpm and jumps around 100+/-rpm Theres a vaccum leak somewhere. i dont know if i cleared the old gasket enough but i tried for hours and u can still see some barely but im not sure if thats okay. also while scraping off old gasket i accidently cut the head/surface around studs and now theres little holes and cuts on it. would that cause vaccum leak?
Yeah that old gasket sucks to clean but you gotta get it all
Can you use a y8 cram in a y 7
Thanks buddy you video saves me a lot searching time! God bless you
That’s great to here!! Thank you!
Perfect step by step bro help me 110%.....
Gooooood
Dope
I never understand why people feel the need to put music on the videos. I’m forever turning volume up and down
Sorry buddy. First video lol, I’m learning. Thanks for the comment!
@@brotherboost very informative video. Project is coming along nicely.
Have a problem where I turn my car on my rpm’s instantly surge to 3000
You might have the wrong throttle body gasket on
Reset idle control valve
Good job
bringing it back, is this the sameway for the z6 intake on the y7?
I think so but I honestly don’t know for sure
Great video man. I'm going to have to rewatch this when I do this
Thank you! I love knowing I'm actually helping people lol.
I accidentally removed your comment but thank you man!
Did u have to grind the welds down
Yes
Nice 👍🏽 ... i have a 2000 d16y7 and just recently got a y8 vtech head . Any thought on anything else i should do ?
Ayo Edboy time for a turbo haha! I actually sold mine but I miss it so much
BrotherBoost lol i wish but i prolly wont be doing that , my question is since im putting the y8vtech i should get the y8 harness , throttle body and intake manifold
Ayo Edboy oh yes. All of that for sure!
BrotherBoost greatt good to know thanks 💪🏼
This video is PERFECT. just did my auto to manual trans swap and I swapped the intake while the motor was out thinking I could just kinda slap it on lol
I’m glad it helped!
HVAC sensor. lol Only poking a little fun thanks for sharing
just completed my y8 head swap and wish i wouldve watched this first. Some helpful stuff in here. I had to learn it while i was doing it lol. Ill be uploading a video this week.
This is the most clear video I've seen in how this swap is done! Thanks
Thanks for the feedback!!
Couple questions. What year is your car if it’s a 99-00 what ecu you running and is the IACv a 2 or 3 wire. It would help me fix my car thanks
The car is a 98. I don’t have the car anymore but I think it was a 3 wire
Your video helped me a lot
@@kennethpartlow7110 goooood!!
Still haven’t found my current answer to my question but I’m still researching
thank you so much this helped me with the swap so much
Goooooood! I love hearing that
thank you so much this helped me with the swap so much
Good! Thanks for the comment!
Did you get an special gasket ? It looks thinker? I have the orginal gasket and isnt thick enough for conversion.
No it was nothing special. Just made sure it was for the y8 intake. What gasket are you talking about. The intake manifold gasket or the throttle body gasket?
Kristopher Lupton intake gasket: DNJ IG297 Intake Gasket for 1996-2000 / Honda/Civic, Civic del Sol / 1.6L / SOHC / L4 / 16V / 1590cc, 97cid / D16Y5, D16Y7, D16Y8 www.amazon.com/dp/B00TM18HDK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_uPn1Eb5B4E3WP

Questions sir is it fine to run a d15b7 manifold on a d16y7 engine??
Yeah I would think so. As long as everything bolts up correctly
@@brotherboost yes everything is installed in running just wanted to make sure since there from different engines before getting a throttle body for the manifold
@@OmarPerez-ln4es I personally wouldn’t worry about anything. You engine will adjust to it.
Are you using your y7 throttle body?
Y7 throttle body with the Y8 throttle body gasket, y8 throttle rotor, and y8 throttle cable.
👍👍👍👍
Good morning mate! How did you install the canister sensor on the Y8 collector? hugs
I didn’t take any sensors off I let the one sensor on the throttle body. Idk if that’s what you are talking about or not but that’s the only sensor I came in contact with
@@brotherboost would be the canister sensor, I wanted to see how it connected
