Yes with y8 head you will need the y8 fuel rail and fuel injectors, my last ek I did a y8 intake swap on my y7 but I had to use the y7 injectors and rail cuz if I used the y8 it would run rich
I'm running hondata so I can change injector sizes. I ran the y7 injectors which worked but my duty cycle got up to 91 percent which was a little to close for comfort so I switched to some z6 injectors which dropped my duty down to about 60. Just started my turbo build and now I'm running 1150cc injectors
you did this pretty recently so thats cool. Im just getting all the parts together right now. I realize the gains arent that much in hp but im doing it because I think itll be fun. Anyway thanks for this.
@@Constantuned thats impressive. im pretty new to this but i replaced the suspension and brake system on my y7 sedan MT. id realistically like to see 150 hp. if that and id be pretty happy. ill look into boost when i know more.
Are you going to sell that y7 head because I need a cam for one can you please help me out thank you because I be looking for parts for my Honda Civic engine
Can you use the same y8 harness and y8 ecu with the y7block/y8 vetch head? Plug n play or would it need some modification still besides the extended coolant hose.
Most connections are on the head so it would be plug n play you would just need to install a knock sensor in the block which is already threaded for it.
Y7/y8 timing belt are the same. This particular setup was a 2 layer OEM Y8 gasket. Bumps the compression a little bit over a fel pro or aftermarket headgasket. Its considerably thinner than most. Any y8 head gasket will work though. the y7 and y8 blocks are the same. Y8 just has a spot for the knock sensor. Dont think the y7s do.
With the iacv wiring are you sure that was the right way to wire it? All the forums Ive went thru say that the orange wire was useless and to connect yellow/black wire to the green wire and the blue/black wire to the black wire.
If I had a auto y7, and got a y8 ecu and harness would the idle air control valve work with a manual intake manifold or auto? Sorry if the question is confusing
The compression ratio with this setup is 9.96:1 compared to a stock y8 which would be 9.76:1. So in theory this would make more than a y8. But its a slight difference.
@@Constantuned thank you! I’ve been looking for a y8 everywhere but they are either hard to come by or more expensive to the point a b series would make more sense. I have a y7 block and was thinking of getting a y8 head from my buddy. If he didn’t have to swap his block cause his last one got cracked I would’ve had a complete y8.
Hey will a Y7 Head fit on a Y8 Block with no mods? I need to get it running for now till I find a Y8 Head. Cars been down for 3 months. Heads are hard to find. lol
Yeah y8 and y7 blocks are the same minus the provision for the knock sensor and the pistons are slightly different but only will change your compression slightly.
ive done it two different ways I think on this dyno session it was installed in the intake pipe using a Rubber gasket and Some JB weld. I prefer to install them in the intake though.
So I have a 99 civic ex. The previous owner did a auto to manual swap and put a d16y7 bottom on the y8 head. So my harness is for the y8 auto. I got my new y8 intake manifold and throttle body for manual and new IAC valve. I’m doing the 3 to 2 pin conversion for the IAC and I have a manual ecu I’m going to repin . That all being said. I’m throwing a code for knock sensor. The d16y7 doesn’t have a knock sensor so what do I do?
I wish I never fell into this rabbit hole why can't I just be pleased I have a good running y7 with no problems .
Extra hp is worth it lol
Bruh same here.. I'm like "engine swap looks simple" lmao
Im with u bro now i want a turbo n mine. Have a y8 head on my y7 block now

So I did that head swap from y7 to y8 and the full rail is from the y7 and the rpm go up and down what I need ?
@@JessieLazos if its getting ruel and stays running, rail and injectors are fine that sounds like an idling issue so check your intake
Yeah I was thinking just build a cammed y7 head maybe ported and Polished. Port match headers for best flow.

Shoot this was an old setup. Car is know fully built turbo making over 400

How did the build turn out? Did you 150 hp?
Remember to remove the oil pressure plug from the block next to the 2 whole on the intake side🤙🏽
This is on like d16a and z engines but yes youll wanna remove that for proper oil pressure

I got a good engine but my head is no good and my Cam shaft is broken in half
Do you know what size roof rack you got?
Cross bars should be 48"
What head gasket would I use? I bought a mini me swapped d16y7 with the y8 head and it has a blown head gasket
Y8 head gasket works fine
question, what timing belt you used and head gasket?

how do you control that stuff through hondata?

I used that wire for my vtec.
If I had a auto y7, and got a y8 ecu and harness would the idle air control valve work with a manual intake manifold or auto? Sorry if the question is confusing
What ecu are you going to run? If you are going to do a y8 swap and use an Auto EX ecu than i would run the automatic y8 intake.
@@Constantuned But if got a manual intake Mani at the junkyard it should be paired with a manual ecu right?
@@kmsthanks not unless your doing a manual swap?

Will this combo make the same stock horsepower at a y8?

But say I do have an auto and I can get a y8 head? Still possible?
tuning the auto is alot of money. Just seems to make more sense to swap it on the EG and EK chassis.
The reason there’s coolant lines on the iacv is because the iacv reads coolant temps and tells your car how high to idle
No that is not true. the iacv duty is controlled by the ecu. It uses coolant and iat sensor. the iacv only has two wires to control duty.
How did you connect the IAT
ive done it two different ways I think on this dyno session it was installed in the intake pipe using a Rubber gasket and Some JB weld. I prefer to install them in the intake though.
how is the alternator over charging?
Had a bad internal regulator
How about the distributor?
