You should never under any circumstances wire nut in a car. Wire nuts are designed for line voltage solid core wires in buildings. With stranded wires, you cut strands when you tighten them which is just asking for electrical gremlins down the road. Eventually they vibrate themselves free due to the cut strands or just get a bad connection. Tap splices are also asking for problems. Vibration can cause the strands to get cut and over time fail/work intermittently. Butt splice if you want it done quick, just make sure you fold those wires back on each other. The best way is to lineman splice the wires, solder, then heat shrink. That connection will last forever. Also, spend 15 bucks and a little bit of time to put those leads in wire loom to prevent shorting.
Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge of professional car audio wiring. In my last career as an industrial electrician, it was standard practice to wire nut 480V stranded wire motors to into stranded 480V factory wiring. We always finished by taping the connection with Scotch 33 electrical tape. The conditions were wet, hot (or cold) and often with vibration. A french fry factory. They held up well. Note in the video that I taped the connections with Scotch 33. No worries.

Great video. Thanks. I would just add that many of these have different names, but same exact set up. So some of the wires are colored differently. I would suggest to anyone following this video to install theirs to only pay attention to the terminal designation numbers A1, A2, A3 etc. Which brings me to my biggest question on this unit. The A1 terminal, in my case a pink wire, is labeled "Parking Sensor Control Wires +12v". Which really throws you off considering it's labeled +12v and everywhere you read up on it people say it's a ground from parking brake. So it's a bit disappointing that this video has everything I needed except for that one detail because he never uses the A1 wire. I'll be hooking this up today, and get back with the results. I'll try grounding the pink first before I go and throw any volts at it.my objective is.to ground it constantly so the kids can watch it. Kinda the only reason I got a radio with video player in the first place.
Thanks for clarifying the purpose of this wire. The explanations on the wiring diagrams on these units are disappointing. But I agree with the intent of that parking sensor wire: To prevent the driver from viewing a video while driving. Maybe a portable DVD player for the kids in the backseat would be a better idea.
thank you this helped so much! i bought a very, very similar unit (only difference was the bracket and installation guide) and couldn't get it to work. the harness connector had a brown wire for ignition and the red wire to the harness connector was red, which was also an ignition wire. it didn't work when brown and red were connected, but for some reason, somehow, the red that was for an interior light or something worked and fixed it.
At 3:38 you say you are going to 'put a jumper on the two wires we wired together earlier' but it's just off screen. Had similar head unit installed in my car but quality was really poor. I ended up installing Raspberry PI 4 with OpenAuto Pro software. Great thing in that project was that I could pick hardware that fits my needs regarding sound quality.
i just happened to get one of these as an experiment to a see if i could install and b to see if it works..... mine works ... kinda ive discovered that the cars previous head unit was wired differntly to the plugs on this so it doesnt work while in motion lol hopefully this can help solve the mix up and i can get it working
Thanks for this video. I have the same head unit as yours and this video helped me to install it including the reverse camera. Is there a way that the reverse camera will show the normal view(not mirror view) in the head unit display?
No, no! Wire nuts are for dry, stationary appIcations such as house wiring inside junction boxes, light fixtures, etc. In automotive applications, the vibration and humidity will cause wire nut and crimp - on connections to corrode and fail over time. The wiring harness connections should ALL be soldered and sealed in heat shrink tubing, if reliability matters at all to you.
Great video sir, I do have a little problem I did everything exactly like you said but when I reverse the screen says no sígnal from the camera you think the ground it’s not right?
Hi might be a stupid question but my battery keeps dieing if I slice the red and yellow wire together and plug in to the 12v ignition switch cable will this solve my issue ?
Check and see if the unit turns off when you shut the door. Some car makers don't turn off the radio when the ignition is turned off but only power down when the door is opened to exit. There are kits out there to solve this issue. Splicing those wires together just might work though.
I purchased the exact same model, but with a different identifier since it's a SWM S7, not a Carzin 7010B. Around 4:00 you mention the need to get a wiring harness to match the factory harness, but there is no link as to where to get it and what part No. that is. Could you please help with that information. Thanks.
You have to do a search under the make and model and year of your car to find the aftermarket harness that will plug into and match the factory harness. Try metraonline.com for one possibility.
Would've been nice to see the actual wires being connected. Im still confused about the key wire, does that connect to the acc wire? And does the yellow and red wire get connected together????

nice video , greatings from germany!!
Hello i just bought one but when I turn it off the time stays on ? Is that normal would it drain my battery? Thank u and the video are very helpful and well explained.
When these stay on it can drain the battery, especially on GM and Saturn vehicles that keep the radio on until the door is opened.
Thank you so much, you help me too much
But I have one question how to connect or install radio? Please can you tell me please 🙏🙏🙏
I just installed this. Is it possible to readjust the guidelines on the backup camera? And how's the mic with you guys? When I'm calling I sound like I'm meter away.
10/10 for this video sir
very informative and super well described
Thanks for the good work
Thank god for this video. Well done and thank you
Had similar head unit installed in my car but quality was really poor. I ended up installing Raspberry PI 4 with OpenAuto Pro software. Great thing in that project was that I could pick hardware that fits my needs regarding sound quality.
i just happened to get one of these as an experiment to a see if i could install and b to see if it works..... mine works ... kinda ive discovered that the cars previous head unit was wired differntly to the plugs on this so it doesnt work while in motion lol
hopefully this can help solve the mix up and i can get it working
Thanks for this video , someone who actually
explains in detail.👍👍
Thanks for this video. I have the same head unit as yours and this video helped me to install it including the reverse camera. Is there a way that the reverse camera will show the normal view(not mirror view) in the head unit display?
I don't think this unit is capable of that.
You need a amplifier...only way you get sound
Oh god 😂 wire nuts 😂😂😂 this guy is an expert 👌
Could u show this type of stereo wiring set up I’m trying to install in the car as a radio
4:01 its Mario!
Good work putting it together, thanks very much.
thank you for this post it help me out o much I install it f150 and its nice

You have more
good job. very well explained.
when the image was up side down 😂
Great video sir, I do have a little problem I did everything exactly like you said but when I reverse the screen says no sígnal from the camera you think the ground it’s not right?
I would double check the camera connections both at the rear and the front.
You're awesome!!!!
Got it up and running in minutes!! 😁
Thank you very much I just installed mine.
I have a 03 Lexus es300 does the blue and white go with the blue on a Metra 70-8113 splice those but what will I connect those too on the B wires ?
I like your video, It was very Informative and genuine! Thank You
Hi might be a stupid question but my battery keeps dieing if I slice the red and yellow wire together and plug in to the 12v ignition switch cable will this solve my issue ?
Check and see if the unit turns off when you shut the door. Some car makers don't turn off the radio when the ignition is turned off but only power down when the door is opened to exit. There are kits out there to solve this issue. Splicing those wires together just might work though.
@TheOriginalMechanic thankyou I appreciate your reply will try it in the morning
I have a blog post on this installation that includes more detailed wiring diagrams: www.originalmechanic.com/2019/12/how-to-wire-low-cost-double-din-head.html
Nice video, straight to the point thanks 🙏
I got this same one but I couldn't figure out how to make the sound work
Reverse signal feed goes to pin 1 on iso plug. Had trouble finding that anywhere
Excellent. Much appreciated. Succinct, very well executed and produced. Nothing we don't need, this is tthe medicine for anyone pulling their hair out over this. Thanks again
Did you try the handsfree cellphone hookup? I am looking at buying the newer version of the same radio. Thanks for the video.
No I did not.
I just got mine installed. This video was so helpful. I had to watch it like 20 times but that's my fault😅
That's OK. Thanks for watching! and watching. and watching. I get credit for views and make a little more jingle.
Hello. I am interested in how the layout of the wires for the camera goes as in the picture because my cores are torn. The output of the camera has 5 wires (red, black, white, green, yellow). How to connect them, make a red and yellow connector? Thanks
Thanks so much for the video, I got mine to working now! 😃
Hey I have a problem. Had the same unit, somebody did the wiring and it worked for years. Now got a new similar Unit with Carplay. Problem: when ignition ON, the unit goes into displaying REVERSE, so cannot using while driving. And it gets worse, when the car is moving, it switches fro REVERSE to main menu every 2 seconds, then the night/day mode is switching alone also. I don’t know what to do guys, any advice? The wiring works for the older one which is similar (7010b vs 7018b). :(
I fount my back wire pink on the back of the touch radio but it stil doesn’t work and my heat doesn’t show up it’s camecho on my 2004 Honda accord ex sedan
Thanks the video was a great help! How ever once i turn of my ignition the radio still remains on ..... any advice ? I do not get a adaptor for the make and model of my car .
tnx to this video got my reverse cam installed correctly, now it automaticaly switches every time i reverse gear engage
you/re welcome
I just bought me exactly the same stereo and camera last week. Tried installing it last night. Followed ur instructions. First the camera didn't work. So I tested the camera on a 12v battery and nothing so I'm assuming the camera is faulty.. secondly the stereo comes on and works fine when I turn my ignition half way to first click.. when I turn the ignition on all the way it shows no signal. As soon as i start the car a plain blue colour screen turn up and stays.. nothing happens at al.. any idea why ? Thanks
I can't think of any miss-wiring that could cause what you are seeing. You likely have a faulty unit out of the box.
Same thing was happening to me literally fixed it 12 hours ago after some time trouble shooting. Disconnect your orange and brown wire. My brown wasn’t connected but I connected my orange. And that fixed it!
My unit has no wire in the A2 slot. A1, A2, and A3 are labeled as "spare" with no wire in them. What do i do now? Is there another wire i can attatch to??
I have this exact same double din that I'm putting in my old Jeep. There were several wires that didn't have a matching pair. Pink, blue and brown and maybe a random green. I have no idea where they should be going
