Love your videos. My Fiance and I are still very young and dont have the finances to explore fine dining but your videos showe us what to expect and potential first experiences once our situation changes. Great work!
You should check what's around you, there's 1 star restaurants or soon to be 1 star restaurants that have pretty accessible pricing for a once in a while experience, also usually the less crowded the area, the cheaper it gets
Well, it's fine dining. It's kindof meant to be expensive. You need to look for up and coming restaurants. Look if they have a chef that tries to prove himself, that had a good apprenticeship. If you get in early it can save you at least 100 euro's/dollars per person. Meanwhile i googled some options in my area, 6 courses all inclusive for 140 euro's. There are even more affordable options as well. Look on the Michelin guide, there might be something around that's perfectly suitable and affordable with quality. There are also 3 course options which cost significantly less. Alexander has the money for the most exclusive and expensive menu, it doesn't mean there aren't less expensive options. Besides, if you've never eaten at a fine dining restaurant a 3 course menu with amuses can give you a taste. You need to develop a palate for it.
@@Titant2I went to Belfast a couple of years back and ate at all three of their starred restaurants (one has closed since). The Muddlers Club tasting menu (7 courses) was £63 including a drink and was very good - excellent value for money.
I like the new focus on the people who work in the restaurants that you visit. It highlights that fine dining is what some passionate people have created. Also, I think your outro is more elegant now.
So kind of you Alexander complimenting Belgian cuisine and how collegues chefs and sommeliers over all Belgian restaurants great eachother and compliment them for their skills. This is very heartwarming indeed. Truely appreciate all of your video's !! Thank you Alexander _/\_
I know you have shown us more exclusive and costly restaurants. However, this one spoke to me on a different level for some reason. Truly a great experience.
I've never been a big wine guy, I don't really "get" it. However, watching your videos has really given me a new appreciation for the history and story each of the wines you try have. Also, the brioche looked very nice. Thank you for sharing your experiences with these restaurants.
I wasn't either. Then one day, on a rainy day in France, I decided to visit a winery in the Loire. We tasted 5 wines and the last one was oak-barreled. Up to that point, all I could say was: "good, nice,..." I learned that day that there's amazing wine. Start cheap with: New Zealand sauvignon blanc - white. Red: Spanish Rioja reserva. Those are crowd pleasers. Hint: Delhaize supermarket, 11eur, Tasmania, Riesling, "Roaring Beach". Have some sushi with that.
Watching ths video for free is unbelievable. By the way, I loved that you got into city's background a bit. You are travelling a lot as you are making these videos. I would love to see a bit longer videos with more context for the restaurant like this one.
Alexander is simply the best, most informative and elegant reviewer period. his knowledge of food and wines is astounding. his descriptions are inspiring
I really like the little fun fact portions of the video where I learn something not about food! Obviously I'm here for the food, but the beluga and diamond bits are like palette cleansers and really enhance the video.
You are simply the best in terms of taking us on the full journey…from the food to the surroundings to the staff and the back story of the restaurant itself. Plus, a little animal trivia thrown in to boot! Thank you so much for sharing these experiences with us! ❤❤❤
Alex, always great comments about everything especially when you acknowledge people)))) I always have tears in my eyes as no one really recongized my efforts & super hard work all these years so when you do that, I feel good... Great family & hats off
Zilte was the restaurant for my 27th birthday, magnificent memories, Selosse initial, Amoureuse Amiot serverlle, Guiberteau brézé to accompany the meal, Thank you for all the videos
i love the incorporation of other facts sprinkled throughout the video, like how antwerp has a huge diamond industry, and the etymology of "beluga". it adds even more depth and insight
Never thought I'd get hooked on a food channel, but I click every upload as soon as I see it. High quality doesn't begin to describe it. Excellent videos.
I can tell you Alexander that this is by far my favorite restaurant, from begininng to start, it's balanced, talented; elegant, tasteful without excessive and useless arrogant ingedrients.
You’re probably the most unpretentious food reviewer I’ve ever seen. Just sharing a passion for amazing food and wine. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous. Your accent is awesome. I had a girlfriend in high school that moved from Hungary. She had a great family that was very food focused.
Great video! It would be interesting to see you try one or two star restaurants as well, commenting on what the differences are compared to a three star restaurant!
Almost exactly a year ago I was in Antwerp visiting a friend. I showed him this recently discovered youtube channel called "Alexander the Guest" and we enjoy the videos ever since. Keep them coming!
Glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Belgium Alexander! We might not be the biggest country nor the best, but even with all our problems it is still a joy to live here because of the amazing people.
Sir, I recently found your channel because I love food content, especially fine dining. I had no idea who you are, but I couldn't help notice how classy and well done your videos are. Then the food and restaurants you showcase are simply the best on the planet. It as if you have a bottomless budget. It's unreal! I can only dream of your experience. I believe your content is among the best on TH-cam. I can see how you have a high standard when it comes to your taste and experiences. Thank you for giving us such great entertainment and for sharing your expertise. I hope someday to be able to experience fully some of the places you have shown. Keep it going.
The food is not only beautiful, it looks like every course is a tasting bomb. That includes the wines. The setting for the meal is sublimely astonishing. Thank you, Alexander, for sharing this wonderful restaurant experience with us ❤😊
What a delight! I put on the captions to make sure I catch all the descriptions. I can't say enough good things about these videos from the length to taking care of all the details seamlessly, just like a Michelin restaurant!
I've been following your channel since the start and really appreciate the quality of the videos! The addition of the small Lessons (brown butter, beluga) is really nice! Keep up the good work!
I've seen a good amount of fine dining videos, including yours. The food presentation was amazing. Not just a few flowers on top of everything. Some I couldn't even figure out how they did it. Very nice.
You managed to always shine a different perspective with every video that you do. I was really impressed with this place and how they run it but more importantly, the storytelling aspect that you do to narrate the "vibe" of this place is really outstanding. Once again, you've made me add another destination to my list. You should open a travel agency and have packages surrounding all the restaurants youve rated lol bc thats literally what I am planning my travel around
I love your videos! Obviously you are a fantastic host and so passionate about good food, but the quality of your script really shined through in this episode. Thank you to you and your team!
would be cool to see you do a retrospective of each meaningful category, like which restaurant had the best food, which one had the best service, the best wine pairings, the best ambiance, etc.
Thank you for continuing to share these videos. As ever interesting / insightful and skillfully done. Personally, I enjoy seeing the receipt at the end, just so I can work out where the spend goes between the food and wine. Wine pairing for E140 seems pretty respectable, especially if the Sauternes is included in that..? As a big desert wine drinker, you can never go wrong with an D'yquem, especially once it's old enough to sleep with. Looks really decent though, wifey and I were considering a Benelux getaway with a Michelin meal, and this looks to tick a lot of boxes.
Another great video. Getting more and more professional. Had the pleasure of eating at Zilte a year ago. Great experience. Especially the 5 cheeses with 5 paired wines/beers/sakes.
I was just here last week. Interestingly enough we got seated at the same table as you in both the lounge, and the main dining area. Nice to see that all of the dishes were different. Only several of the petit fours were the same. The head sommelier wasn't there and unfortunately we did not get recommended any Sake, although it would have definitely fit at least one of the courses. Didn't think to ask about it. Great channel. Good to see some restaurants relatively local to me covered as well. If you're ever in Netherland again I recommend Inter Scaldes in Kruiningen. The restaurant has lost its three stars since its recent acquisition by a couple who ran a two star in Switzerland. I would hope it'll be of similar quality compared to when it was under its previous ownership.
Excellent video, not only showcasing the restaurant but also the museum, Antwerp and Belgian haute cuisine. You're the best ambassador fine dining can have. One small remark: at 2:09 we see the 5 Champagne regions, but let the audience not mistaken: the colors do not represent all of the Champagne areas e.g. around Vitry-Le-Francois where I already tated some really good champagnes on the domaines.
Alexander, thank you so much and you team for the great videos of such an interesting and exclusive restaurants. Really Great!!!! Can you pls to explain more about food: components, details, taste... as you did in your first videos. This is really a very interesting information in order to understand the exclusive character of the great Chef's dishes. Thank you.
Love your videos Alexander, but please review one and two michelin stars restaurants since they are lets say “more affordable” to some people that want to experience dining at that level.
Great review of this wonderful restaurant. I have always had a passion for champagne. I have indeed had a few glasses of Krug at a gathering, and it was very enjoyable. There was a bar in England(UK) Midlands area called ‘Bar Epernay’ and it was very fabulous with beautiful Decor, inside fire pit, gentleman playing the piano. Of course, the best bit was you could order such a varied menu of champagnes by the glass, so I indulged in that in the past, and got to taste some great ones. Expensive, but very worth it. Not sure if its still there as its been some years, but it was always busy enough to have a great ambience, but not so busy that it felt stuffy. Great bar. I also love restaurants, and The Fat Duck’ and ‘Le Manoir’ would be on my wishlist🥂❤️👏🏼
Amazing video! So great you’re visiting Belgium. If you have the chance, also check restaurant Nuance, another exceptional Belgian restaurant. Really love watching your videos!
WAW, again. And you have to yet discover the ones who are very close to 3-stars. Like you said, they all support each other, ask the chefs themselves and they will guide you through our country. All the best..
Honestly my favorite food related channel. Super high quality and in depth about the location, wine and food. It's such a treat to watch.

@@kiliang96 absolutely. Check particularly for any with a set lunch Franky, that lets you dip a toe into fine dining without breaking the bank.
