    I work for a call center just like this for a health insurance company. And we can only have the members on hold for 2 minutes!!! By the time I find the right thing I have to “check back in” and then put them on hold again. And if we don’t score an average of a 90 for our monthly calls, we are written up. If we don’t offer them the grievance at the end of the call, it’s an automatic 0 for the entire call. They nitpick everything on our calls. I’ve been here a year and it’s mentally draining. I really want to quit but need another job lined up first. I will never work for a call center ever again. Working from home isn’t worth it with these jobs.

    • @DeandreLinton
      @DeandreLinton  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Dang, I completely relate to that feeling. It's unrealistic and places way too much stress on employees. If you're looking for better entry level remote jobs, I'd highly recommend transitioning into tech. A lot of tech jobs can use the transferrable skills you've acquired throughout working in a call center ! You still have to watch out for employers who like to micromanage but the metrics for tech support jobs tend to be more lenient.

    Call center work is absolutely ridiculous. I’m 21 and started my first WFH CSR job with a large Medicare company about 3 months ago. Training was 5 weeks. Nesting was 2 weeks. Working on the floor has been an absolute nightmare. I feel so undertrained and put to the side. Any time I ask a question, team leads and supervisors try to make me feel stupid. I took 3 live calls before hitting the floor, and there’s so much that I still don’t know how to do. We’re supposed to “use our resources”, but when you’re in a call with a member that is 65+ years old, they are not having it when you need to put them on hold. Ridiculous metrics and bitchy higher ups make it SO much worse. I’d recommend staying away from Call Center work in general. Fuck this kind of work.

    I worked for a call center in health insurance for a year and I quit yesterday. That was the best decision I made. I was working a toxic job and dealing with a micromanaging boss. I did for a remote position that’s data entry no phones. I would never work in a call center again.

    • @Lulusvideos1
      @Lulusvideos1 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s what I tell my coworker, we work remote in healthcare billing, but we have an offshore call center in Costa Rica helping us. They’re eventually going to replace us with all offshore reps, and in Costa Rica, their call centers are going AI. We get called so many nasty names by patients, we get threats and are constantly being talked down to even on simple calls. It’s also the most micromanaged job I’ve ever had.. Other departments dump their mistakes on our department and tell patients we’ll fix it for them. Management doesn’t really do anything about that either.
      I’m retiring in January so I’m just sticking it out until then.

  • @Fourwindsofsuccess
    @Fourwindsofsuccess 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Lmao.
    Yep. I’ve worked in call centers in office 5-6 years ago and I left them in 2-4 weeks. I worked from home doing two call centers working remote, one was patient access representative (scheduling appointments but the patients would curse you out for randomly calling them) and then a “pharmacy help desk/member services agent” to where you deal with medications being covered. Nobody helps you and they throw you in the floor for some “nesting” period to take a load of inbound calls but nobody can articulate how to help you with learning 3-4 systems to process these people information. The call times or the after call work lol, this industry is superficial.
    It was all toxic, cheap training, rude trainers and superficial. Tons of micromanage and NO help as usual. Call center managers, team leads, trainers, and supervisor are lazy people. Also, they brown nose a lot meaning they know it’s a hell job with disorganized unhelpful and disgusting behaviors. They groom the new hires during your orientation but people better learn these work from home jobs aren’t your best friend a lot of them are worst then in person really bad. You feel trapped in your house with all that loads of toxic energy in your home.

    I have to snicker a little as this is such a standard for all customer service positions and training. Those training seemed to either never have worked in the positions they were training you for or it'd been so long since what they knew was accurate or wasn't anymore. It's all bullshit and not to mention the customer’s abusing us...for the pay AND YES THE STRESS it isn't worth it.
    I couldn't handle the gravity of this industry and people's lives. I hope you've thrived since...I see this was made yrs ago. Sadly this job still is a horrible one, only thing different is people in general are more stressed so customers are truly more horrible now more so than ever before and you...get to just sit there and take it.

    This is a primary reason for poor quality in Customer Service. It cannot be ONLY for customers, it must be everywhere throughout the company

    In about 10 years, most people seeking customer service will be computer savvy. I’m 61 and have had a number of jobs requiring computers. But many people who are 70+ now don’t have computer skills and depend on live call agents for customer service. As the older generations coming along have computer skills, they will be able to deal with getting customer service via chat or a chat bot. There will still be a need for live call agents but customer service jobs should be less stressful as chat and chat bots will be able to service clients for many routine issues.
