I would say that you have a better chance of getting a job with another company than being promoted within your call centre company. If it’s a medium to large-scale company where you are working, you are competing against hundreds of other coworkers in your location to move up the chain. And many to most of those people are also desperate to move up the chain and getting away from the phones. Not to mention that you are also competing against hundreds of other coworkers based in other offices if the company has multiple call centre locations. The odds aren’t in your favour and you’re best to look externally and find something else.
I was unemployed for almost 2 years just to end up at another call center. I’m only one month in and already losing my mind. I just don’t know what to do
When working in a call center, you don't even have the mental energy to do your dishes, so you certainly don't have time and energy for nowadays recruitment procedures; just walk out politely and silently, take some time to recover and take a fresh start outside the call center prison.
Never ever take a call center job. They will ruin your career. Hiring managers won't hire you unless its for another call center job. Just don't ruin your career, it's not worth it. Stay as far away as possible. RUN. Run fast and far. Work in fast food before you do this type of work and you will be better off.
I'm finally able to quit after 2 years of constant suffering everytime I needed to receive calls, now I can say that I'm free, I finally quit this horrible job!
Many thanks PTPOP, I currently work in a call center for one of the worst and most crooked alarm systems companies in the US they basically pay us to scam people , been here for 1 year and would like to quit but I cannot just quit I'm saving tho till I get out of this corporate hell , just subbed back to your channel 🎉
I had over one year of retail experience working in a luggage store, the short times were spent working in clothing stores. When I applied at clothing stores they told me that I don't have enough experience. Furniture stores? Two guys with ten years experience beat me out. One Manager saw potential in me and wanted to train me but the schedule conflicted. Overall my experience in call centers has been pretty good. The one thing that sucks about working in Market Research call centers is that the job is not always stable.
That's a good point , why do all call centers walk you out like a piece of trash? They don't even let you clean out your own desk (only if fired this part) is it to demean or put every one else in fear?
I think they do that to prevent a disgruntled ex-employee from dishing out any kind of retaliation on the way out. Like destroying company property or physically harming someone. I was walked out at one of the call centers that I was with for several years when I quit.
The only job I walked out on was McD's just very terrible at the one I worked at. For me, I think call center jobs are just as bad as fast food but that is me, I don't work well with customers.
PTPop, thank you for your videos. Yesterday, I put in my two weeks notice at my call center job. Before listening to this video, I was going to let them have it. I was going to email my boss's boss and tell her how much my boss sucked. And, I thought about emailing her all of my evidence to back up my talk. Well, I watched your video before hand.. And I am so glad I did. I instead took your advice and wrote a mature resignation notice. I can only imagine the mess I would have caused for myself if I would have told my boss's manager how crummy I thought my boss is. Thank you for your videos, PT Pop!
@@Ptpop thank you. I have seriously taken your advice. I am using the last few of my vacation and sick days to come in late to avoid my boss. Me and her have already bumped heads and I want to leave in peace so that I can be rehireable in a non-phones based position with the company. Thank you for your videos, they've been therapeutic in a way because I feel like it's not just me going through what you've gone through working in a call center. And while you've told your experience in a humourous way, you've also given some really good advice. So thank you, PTPop! 🙌 may God bless you, man.
Start planning your exit as soon as you start lol. Think of all the experience you have gained. Most people don't last in a call center, except cases of lifers and people that are connected with management. Start planning your exit, embellish your application and interview skills. I wouldn't worry about having a personal reference from them because lots of them won't provide it and will only confirm dates. You can get useful office admin customer service experience and telephony experience. You should be spoiled for choice in terms of answering how you dealt with difficult customers, times you had to solve a problem or figure something out for yourself (often you are left alone when you need help the most), a time you had to deal with a difficult colleague?. Your knowledge of office procedure? Ie confidential discreet, sensitive information, discarding of documents discretely things like data protection gdpr etc (I'm Irish live in UK, different rest of the world?). Teamwork? Work by yourself?
I need help sir, I’m stuck here and I don’t know what to do. The only positive thing about my job is that it’s remote and I can travel if I want. But being stuck 8hrs a day answering calls is just crazy.
Your humour is as dry as us Brits lol. I guess thats what working in call centres all these years does to you. I escaped it after 4 years. It's funny how people outside that experience can't even conceive how bad it sctually is although i guess its famously so. It really is beyond awful. My friend/ex colleague still works in one but managed to knock it down to part time. He's desperate to shed the rest of the "cancer" though as he puts it. I don't think they have to be so terrible but they've been geared like that on purpose. Thank god i found a way out🙏
Lol my mom raised me she was 3rd generations Scottish, very dry and sarcastic, great sense of humor. Very staunch Protestant. Lol Plus I watched a lot of Monty Python. Say no more wink, wink nudge nudge.

That’s sucks. Sorry to hear that. I got a copyright strike because I played one of your videos. Lol The music caused it I guess.
@@Ptpop no way! Sorry about that, were you able to fix it by trimming the video?
@GannicusMisteriosdeHonduras No big deal. I haven’t asked YT to review it.
Once you are in the call center you can never really get out of it, your next job will he a call center... cos other fields wont hire you
That’s true.

For me, dealing with customers face to face is unbearable torture. Omg people are such asshats.
Nice new set up!!
Thanks

Try to go out with a little drama as possible. It doesn’t do you any good.

Always love to see. One of your videos❤️❤️
thanks for the advice
No problem!
And make sure to drain all the benefits you have earned, time off, whatever, before you go as well
