- After owning my 2023 Honda HR-V Sport for a year, I finally hit 10,000 miles. In this video I give you a detailed rundown of all the issues I’ve had over the course of a year of ownership. Stay till the very end for something new I’m trying out!

I have same car for 1.5 years so far good car . No issues. Did some research on this engine and Transmission. They last longer then a turbo charged engine. Should last 300000 miles or more if you like to keep your car for 20 years . Very safe and reliable car
Thank you for your time uploading a video about your hrv. I really appreciated hearing about your experience with this car.
I think you’re missing a point you bought an entry-level SUV. It’s not gonna have all the features at the higher and ones have. I think next time you buy another car, you might wanna look into the CRV you may be more happier with that .
Economy vehicles are the way to go nowadays. Cheaper all around and the engine in this is Hondas most reliable engine rn.
Thinking about getting this car and your review helps alot as I am hearing same stories from other drivers of this HR-V unit. I do want to test drive this but I shall keep your info in mind. #Thanks
If you have wheel spin it might be that you are being too aggressive with the throttle. I agree that the TPMS should show the individual tyre pressures though, my last car did and this Honda system is a real annoyance. As for wiper fluid, just top it up regularly. Interesting about the maintenance, they should change the oil regardless of mileage. However, remember that Kia and Hyundai might have reliability issues, my friends with them certainly have. Nissans are best avoided. In Europe only the hybrid is sold and specs differ. Thanks for the review. Oh, in Britain tyres are never rotated, as you call it. Oh, I didn’t watch the latest bit as you seemed to be eating in your car, I wouldn’t do this in mine, ever. Eat outside or in a restaurant, drink water only in the car to avoid dehydration, if you must. Thanks again.
Dude, your car looks fine. I see no issues. Don't be so critical. I would hate working with you.
With my old civic I have a small dent in the door but no paint loss. 2023 HRV a door caused total paint loss exposing metal. To get better mpg. You need to take your foot off the gas as much as you can. I have my display set on fuel it shows a sliding bar. You need to keep that bar moving to the right as much as possible. If it slides to the left your mpg will drop. The center display select trip computer. The top square is Current Drive touch that one not trip A or B. It will allow you to see if you can get better mpg. I got my car used with 5k mile. That person got 21 mpg on the current trip driving it to my house 40 miles freeway. I only drive this car two days out of the week. So my mpg is at 28. But that cuz I use the current drive data to get better mpg and it’s mostly freeway.
I have the 2023 XL AWD,. I do not have any problems. I get 23 miles in city, 27 on highway. No problems with paint. ItI don’t need a hot rod. The power is fine. And you apparent I do not know how to drive in the rain. I love my HRV.
Thanks for the review. The. 19 mpg was surprising especially with the lack of power. My 2020 CRV with a bigger turbo charged engine gets 28 mpg on average, mainly driven around town. I do really like the new design tho. Hoping for a hybrid version someday.
I feel like if it had the Turbo it would hit that around town which would be a lot better
whoa the 19 mpg is kind of a deal breaker for me. I do love the way it looks & the honda reliability factor - thanks for posting this video
Yeah I get this car and I'm getting about 20 and I don't why????
I have a Nissan Kicks, and I get 29-36 MPG in town and 38-44.3 on the expressway.
Funny how I have had the same problems, I also got a windshield crack but have been waiting 6 months to get a new windshield (they are out of stock of side moldings) and the oem calibration is something I can already see being a problem when I do replace my windshield
Wow 6 months?!? That’s way to long of a wait. The Calibration was could very well mess up your safety features. I have noticed that when I go over the line on the right side it’ll trigger but not the left but it’s been spotty.
I have the exact same HR-V, next month will be a year. I have 27,000 miles on it. I drive 104 miles a day 90% of the time in cruise 65 to 70 mph I'm getting 30.4 mpg
Yes it isn't the fastest but I didn't buy it for that reason. Although I would like to have it, it really isn't an issue for me. It has been flawless minus the front seat lowers a little on hot days and I have to jack it back up when I get back in 8 hours later other then that I have had Zero issues. Thank you for the 1 year review.
Thank you! For the nice 10,000 mile update review on the 2023 Honda HRV sport. I have the same except mine is red but the Nordic forest pearl is really nice! I definetly think Honda could've done better with the third brake light.
Yeah the 3rd Break light is an annoying issues and I’m very OCD which bothers me when the water just falls down
@soflojoshautoreview Hiya, do you have anymore updates on your hrv? Like has it reached 20,000 miles yet? Also does yours make a loud rattling sound inside the cabin when you are idling at a light and when you put it in reverse? Mine does it from time to time and Honda says it’s part of the high pressure fuel pump? Is this true?
I ended up test driving this car and actually really liked it but in the end decided against it because I found the seats too uncomfortable
Nice review as I am considering a 2024. Power issue is a concern along with crazy markup on sticker price. Please stop eating in your car.
I got a 2024 HRV sport 4 weeks ago. I love it so far. Hope it doesn’t let me down lol it drives amazing! I do wish they had hybrid and also cup holder arm rest in back middle seat along with ac vents since it’s a pretty spacious car.
Im debating wether the sport or LEX .. I want the sunroof & leather seats
If you can afford it and are willing to pay the extra definitely get the higher trim! I would have wanted that one too but I was on a budget. Either way I love my HRV Sport!
My last 2 vehicles were Honda’s, but this time I went for a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek last year. Got the Limited with AWD, 2.5 liter 182 hp motor, Nav system and 8 speaker Harmon Kardon stereo for $32,500. And I’m averaging 31 mpg.
I’m averaging 18 mpg in my quad cab 6’ bed Fx4 f150. And it seems Honda windshields are very susceptible to cracking. I wonder if it’s coincidence or do they save on some process.
Have a 2021 CRV AWD CVT Hybrid have done just under 50,000 miles and nothing it is an absolute Jem of a car am doing 46.8 MPG have no intentions of changing it at all. The build quality is amazing even my Audi and BMW friends like it, recommend to anyone. Weird why your sense don’t work correctly I’d get Honda to send it off to a specialist or something they need to sort that out for you I use it all the time it’s a great system only point may be a bit heavy on breaking sometimes may be me,my wife says it’s fine. You seem to say it’s a cheap car but that’s 26,000 UK pounds which isn’t cheap
The CR-V is a great SUV even the new Generation! I have to say that when I mention cheap it’s because of how little content is offered to compared to Europe and Asia. We get less features on the HR-V compared to the ZR-V which is kind of frustrating given the HR-V was originally designed for NA. The ZR-V was actually a last minute decision for Asia/Europe and Middle East so it feels like we were put on the back burner.
@@soflojoshautoreview I agree, the lack of USB ports and even a freakin armrest is the back is a deal breaker for me. We travel from PA to SC once or twice a year and the people in the back seat deserve at least a few concerts. Same with the new Civic, I'd want the LX because I don't want turbo, but with the LX I guess we're lucky to even get a back seat.
PS.......... be careful who's in front of you especially on a highway, I NEVER, ever drive behind a truck that's loaded with stones, and as a result, our 20 year old VW Passat (with under 37K miles) has one tiny paint chip on the hood.
What mileage or percentage did you get your first oil change?
7,400 or so. It all depends on your driving style that could occur earlier
Thats really low MPG. You must hammer it off every stop or something is wrong with it. I have a 22 EX AWD I use for doordash/Uber full time. I consistently get 26mpg combined. I drive like a grandma though. I love this car.
Only issue I have ever had is sometimes the walk away lock doesn't work. It beeps a bunch like it thinks the key is still in it. Does this around every 10th time I leave the vehicle.
Great video! I have a 2024 Honda HRV. Works for now. I agree on the cargo cover… it should come with the car. Also, the paint does chip easily. My driver side mirror, the arm of it is separating at the seam. Water is collecting in it which is bad news for the heating mechanism. Honda is supposed to replace it.
The Cargo Cover should definitely come with every SUV standard but some reason they don’t. I just looked at the front of my car this morning and noticed more chipping at the front bumper and the hood now. I live in a construction state so it makes sense but still lot of Chips
The reason they don't include the cargo cover is because they want more money from you. Simple!
I got my 23 hrv sport a month after you and let’s just say my only complaint is the power i have the awd and it just gets frustrating
It is frustrating for the power it has and how much it weighs
Did you test drive the car? Here in Brazil we got the euro spec HR-V, but the option is a 1.5 4 cylinder, I mean that kind of power is dangerous, I really don’t understand why the US market hate downsized engines, the 1.5T engine would make that car a whole different story
@@RFL9458 The power is absolutely fine, 0-60 at 8.9 for me.
Lane centering failure should be a warranty item. HR-V was my 2nd choice to Subaru Forester.
It definitely should be! Haven’t been able to make an appointment to take my car in.
@@soflojoshautoreviewClean the camera.
Waiting for a hybrid HR-V. I figure Honda might work out any bugs overseas before releasing it in the States.
I personally feel that we won’t see that till maybe the facelift model.. that’s even if Honda wants to do that given the Civic just got the Hybrid model
wont happen they want you in the crv for hybrid and soon the civic. Making this hybrid would kill their crv sales.
Wife has the exl all the bells and whistles..l got the sport..does not have reverse warning beeper or gps..minor gripe...otherwise perfect for my needs
The only problem is they sell so quickly, despite aggressive dealer mark ups. But, gives so many options, at MSRP equivalents across the board! Several lower! Great time for getting deals! Car dealerships greed is gonna bite them in the wallet. Who is gonna pay 70,000+ for a Ford gas guzzler? These supposed $23,000 HR-V's are a cruel joke. The cheapest new price was $28,500 base model! Come December, and January prior to Tax season, is going, or should be sweet! But, Greed never, ever sleeps!
I'm actually having the exact opposite problem, the lane keep assist button won't let me turn it off after I got my windshield replaced
Wow that’s so strange! Seems like Honda’s safety system has an issue
@@soflojoshautoreview actually I just fixed it, turns out there is a way to turn it off in the safety support section and unclick road migration system and it fixed the problem!
I’ve tried doing that but unfortunately still doesn’t work. Might be something wrong with my system then
I wish the WRV would be available here
i get about 32 combined. I watched a lot of hypermiling videos and try it regularly whenever possible. Saves a lot of fuel.
There's no way you're getting 32 stop lying. I have the same car I drive it on echo mode and I still don't get more than 20 ever 😢
Hyundai Tucson has the Rear seat drop technology.
It means Hyundai's license.
Honda paid the loyalty for Hyundai?
When You replace a windshield, the ADAS system ALWAYS must be recalibrated.
I just bought my 2024 Honda hrv and I’m having 2 problems
1 the car vibrates when I’m at red light
USB plug keep saying no connection
Is anybody having this problems ???
not really
Get a 2005 Infinty FX 35. It will fit your tastes.
Who cares about paint?
Sport probably has very low profile tires. Low tire pressure kills fuel economy. Low profile tires are more likely to lose air going over bumps over time. That is why Scotty Kilmer on youtube is always preaching about looking over your car more frequently. Also there are bad people who intentionally put nails under tire to leak air. They contribute to climate change which causes more severe storms and the dredded polar vortex. It's not only ice vehicles causing all of the problems. Maybe that is why Honda is holding onto ice on HRV.
I wish I only drove 10k in a year 😢
I haven’t had any of those issues on mine. Also you can get a cargo cover for a lot less than $192. Dumb move.
I mean I payed about $120 for mine but nonetheless that is pricy for a flimsy cargo cover that should come standard.
It’s time to switch! The new Kona is definitely a hot contender right now.
??????? Never had a windshield wiper fluid low reminder. Lol… Also, you complained about things that are general wear and tear on a vehicle such as paint chips from flying debris on hwy., break dust (lol), etc. You bought a lowest model. Get the EXL, but you are still gonna get rocks hitting your car, brake dust. How often do you really change your wiper fluid????????? You need a hobby. Honda tech in not the best, but the safety system is standard on all trims. Glad most people don’t base choosing a car based on your experience with this car. Geeesh
The HR-V doesn’t notify you when your Wiper Fluid is low. On top of that, the tank for it is actually small. The only input of reminder is when you got to spray it and all it does is a sound when it’s empty. I tried looking throughout the manual to see if I can enable such a reminder and nothing is listed.
As for the video as a whole, it was an update after owning it for a year and with the amount of miles I put on it was expected to have paint chips here and there. The Video is also to give prospective buyers a heads up and a third opinion about ownership. Many videos out there just show the review of the car but not the overall ownership of a vehicle and that’s what I wanted to deliver to the audience.
Last note is that the Safety features once the windshield was replaced was recalibrated which is required in order for the features to work. I actually had to get it replaced again recently because of another crack in the windshield. They did the recalibration again and the safety features want to work when they want to. Only thing that works is when a car brakes it’ll notify me but lane departure warning works when it wants to.
Since when Florida is the only construction state? Every state is a construction state.
You crazy.... Kia, Hyundai, Nissan wtf u funny
Cup holders are on the side doors!!!!
Where you buy the trunk cover?
Bought it from the dealership parts department. It was pretty expensive
You never took the plastic off the doors idk if you know that
What plastics? If you are talking about the door guard aspect that’s suppose to be there. It’s an added option when you spec a Honda
Sounds like you are really unhappy and made a mistake so sorry ! Too many issues for new car -
I am but hey it is what it is. Planning on getting ride of it soon though.
You probably would have been better off in the Toyota Cross. Too many misses from Honda.
These cars in cheaper in Cuba.
Zrv the Hrv is smaller
A lot of break dust
On a fwd drive car 😂
Tell me about it… crazy how much brake dust I get
Next time remove the music from the video.
Don’t niglect your car, that would be Nigligence.
That music is annoying.
Give the car away.
Too much time you sent on paint. Move on.
Dude get to the point. You are too long winded.
