Most of the unboxings and demos that I’ve seen of GT-1000 Core as of January 2024 have been demonstrating its clean settings and models. It’s great to finally hear a demo of the hi-gain options, not to mention most of those features coming from inside the unit itself during the first 14 minutes instead of the effects loop.
Currently using this for bass a lot. It's amazing. I wasn't even a big fan of distorted bass sounds before that but I got some great tones out of it after some tweaking and it was loads of fun. I thought I would have to go with dual amping and splitting up frequencies like I'd have to do with other modellers, but I didn't. Dunno if that has something to do with the MDP stuff (still not sure if that's something I can actually hear, or if it's just marketing), but I really get a lot of clarity and definition out of this thing with very little effort even when cranking up the gain which is something that I totally did not expect in this price range. Can absolutely recommend this for bass as well.
Adds to the tonal palette. A large bag of guitar tone goodies in a very small footprint. Powerful- with many ways hardware wise to use it. And, As always great playing Bea!
For anybody torn between this and an overpriced Fractal, get the Boss, or swing for a Helix rack unit.. It has your bases covered without adding pages of worthless settings that are basically EQ. I’ve heard so many players demo this and sound great doing it that I had to get one. I ran it next to a Fractal Axe FX III (that I’m now selling) and it opened my eyes to reality. If This had a touchscreen, it would be game over for the 3 switch modeler competitors.
Thanks for the review Rabea! IMHO this thing sounds better than any of the Line6 stuff I’ve played. Now if it were as easy to use as an amp and standard pedal board I might even go for something like this. I disagree with some of the other posters, I think the amp sounds were pretty decent through the interface....in a live setting would be another story I think though.

All Blocks and Tools can be moved. So yeah, this thing can clearly do a lot. 4 Parallel Signal Paths? Sure thing. Wanna use a NORMAL POWER SUPPLY with NORMAL CABLES/PLUGS? Yes, you can finally do that lmao. I hope this helps someone. P.S. Also, BOSS left out the Bluetooth stuff that the big GT-1000 version has. Bluetooth editor on GT-1000 CORE could have really placed itself over HX Stomp. Overall I'm split between keeping my HX Stomp or swapping to GT-1000 Core. I'll wait for the 3.0 Update on the Stomp. Also, Poly Digit/Beebo, and Mod Devices Dwarf look like super interesting Multi-FX/Amp "Modelers"/Synths.
For me, the real thing that's unclear from their docs is if the outputs are balanced. Missing the XLRs I get because of space, but a 1/4" TRS jack doesn't take up any more space. In 2020, that's a miss for me. This thing does use a LOT less power than HXStomp and probably doesn't heat up like Stomp does.
This is exactly the information that people need to know to make an informed decision. It's a different angle than how the HX Stomp works (6 blocks that can be anything)
I really like the idea of this, the size the processing power and parallel (dual) amp capability. I decided against an HX Stomp a long time ago (some things are actually too compact) so it's down to the GT-1000 Core and the Pod Go. I'm torn. They're very much alike in some ways but quite a bit different in functionality, features and price.

hi bea, just a quick question, is it possible to use those two switches as a patch instead of banks down and up? so i dont have to tap dance between my ambiant modulated patch to ny distorted rhythmn, thanks cheers!
This is no reflection on Matt, who is just doing his job, but its a shame he was there IMO. Much prefer when its just you doing your own thing having had time to sit down and create your own dialled in patches. The amp modelling sounded pretty naff to be frank, though I'm sure with tweaking and decent IR's its as good as most stuff out there. That being said, I have mine on preorder lol! I dont use amp/cab sims, but a compact Boss pedal with pretty much every Boss effect in it for £600?!? If they sound as good as standalone pedals, HELL YES BABY!
@@DomTremendous Yeh as I said if the sounds are the same as ones you can get from RV500, DD500 etc. then £600 is an absolute steal. Cant wait to try it. Boss always make high quality stuff.
Do the 500 series algorithms sound the same in this unit as they do in their individual units? (Same amt of relative DSP?) Love the sound quality Bea got in the 500 demos - is this a good way to get all 3 (DD, MD, RV) in one box just for the effects?

That shimmer reverb is getting me dangerously close to making some bad decisions. XD Observation: Rabea actually uses his face muscles to play those licks... Watch his face when he's jammin' a righteous guitar solo! Legend
Need to put the amp modeling capability in the Katana amp line so that the amp tones are more customizable like the GT1000 core. I was impressed by the segment where it was direct in the interface so that the amp tones were all on the GT. Having those modeling features in the Katana would open up that amplifier's potential exponentially. Great review of very cool tech Rabea. Thank you sir.
Having analog dry through on a device like this would either mean something like 24 discrete mixers (noise) or running most or all blocks in parallel. From my experience with the MS3 I can safely say that Boss AD/DA converters are phenomenal.
Analog dry through on digital units means you have to run the effects in parallel, for reverb and delay that’s mostly ok, others not so much. Besides this is 2020, ADDA has come a long way, I wouldn’t consider analog dry through a must have.
@@andrewpartington7274 In Germany it's about 660 € vs 417 €. I like the GT-1000 Core is a bit off the beaten track with its amp models. Someone else somewhere noted the legacy amps of Iridium make him feel like all roads are leading back to 1967 or so. That really struck me.
Martin Hinze I’ve had the iridium for about 8-9 months and I definitely agree with the 1967 statement, it’s obviously more vintage-voiced where the gt-1000 would be much better for more modern music
@@andrewpartington7274 Thank you, that's really good to know. I'm not at all against the Iridium, just a bit more interested into the newer Boss amp models like Natural Clean.
I really wanted to like this but aside from a couple of clean tones I was not impressed. I think if you had a chance to play with it and tweak it I would like the tones better
For me it is in the very high frequencies where all amp modellers are still lacking unfortunately. Most people are a lot less sensitive to these in my experience, so depends on your own ears. Edit: Actually, I'm not a fan of the high frequencies from the Soldano either XD
I don’t know for sure, but I think the stompboxes are the same as the lower-end multi-FX units (someone please correct me if I’m wrong). If I understand correctly, the main benefit of the GT-1000 has more to do with programmability, routing, and the AIRD technology that’s employed in the amp models. Depending on your needs, you might be able to save a few pennies.
HOLY GUACAMOLE, AN ACTUAL ARTISTIC GUITAR MANIAC DEMOING THIS GREAT CREATION. I COULD HEAR ACTUAL HEART AND SOME WELL-PLACED RIFFS, YES YES YES! PEOPLE OFTEN FORGET TECHNIQUE IS NECESSARY BUT YOUY NEED MORE., SOMETHING LIKE BEN IN THIS VIDEO.

Hello! Great vid, as usual, congratulations! One question: looking forward to Black Friday deals to get an amp modeller, but I have a big problem: - Love Kemper Stage's profiling and sharing capability. - Love GT 1000 core's size and price point. - Love Neural Cortex's promising specs and UI based on nothing yet. What should I do? Any thoughts? (I can afford any of them, but I am definitely not rich 😆) Thank you in advance!
I’d wait until the Neural has more real world reviews before dropping $1500 personally because I’m looking to switch from HX Stomp and have this very Problem, I can’t afford any of them but my CC can 🤪
Its very nice. I have an ES8 and miss some effects from my beloved GT8... the question is, MS3 or GTK core? Each can be extracted from my big stationary board to do small gigs... but core is allways converting the signal... and I kind of love being straight to the amp... MS3 still apealls to me.
I just bought one, I also have the line 6 Helix LT. Man having a small little unit that pushes great great tones is brilliant. There are also just superb presets to download online from the tone studio. Having something this small and powerful is just awesome. It is tiny. After a day, the Helix LT tones do seem fuller somehow, but I spent ages tweaking and tweaking that thing and a few hours messing about with my GT core.
Great video as always. I'm curious about how the 3 switches can be programmed in a live performance situation. Other products have features like a/b scene switching and even long pressing the same switch for a third scene or effect (making 9 possible combinations) Didn't find any info about if it can be done in this device yet.
Hey Sergio... so what have you learned in the past year about programming the 3 switches on the 1000 core? I just bought one of these, and I've been trying to find some good videos about how to create, and edit, etc. the sounds and patches. I found one pretty good video by a guy in the UK... th-cam.com/video/GeGkpyfnUSk/w-d-xo.html Curious as to what you may have discovered. Thanks, Tim
@@stk7778 Hi, I do like it. It's very capable. But it does take some time to get comfortable tweaking it. I'm guilty of not spending enough time to do this. I've been working so much overtime lately that it sucks. Most of the factory default patches have several effects turned on at one time... which sound great, and are definitely inspiring... however, if you are just looking for some simple patches that only provide one effect at a time... you will need to create them. So, if you don't have the patience to spend time in the menus tweaking to perfection... then this may not be the best solution for you. It does have great sound, amazing effects, and is very powerful. I just picked up a TC Electronic Plethora X3 because its quick and easy to setup some simple effects.

Rabea, you have to play more this les paul beauty 😲
Impressive with the Strat. Probably the best floor modeller tones I've heard with single coils. A bit muddy with the PRS.
Does anyone know how it sounds going through headphones only?
hi bea, just a quick question, is it possible to use those two switches as a patch instead of banks down and up? so i dont have to tap dance between my ambiant modulated patch to ny distorted rhythmn, thanks cheers!
I have a GT 1000. I will say this, the effects are incredible. The amps... Most are very nice. But the high gain ones are not good.
@@DomTremendous Yeh as I said if the sounds are the same as ones you can get from RV500, DD500 etc. then £600 is an absolute steal. Cant wait to try it. Boss always make high quality stuff.
I have a boss ms3 that kinda fills that specific need you are talking about 🤔
@@kikiphallin nah, i had an ms3 and had nowhere near as many features as gt1000 or anything like the DSP and number of blocks available.
Do the 500 series algorithms sound the same in this unit as they do in their individual units? (Same amt of relative DSP?) Love the sound quality Bea got in the 500 demos - is this a good way to get all 3 (DD, MD, RV) in one box just for the effects?
Anyone used the gt1000 core connected to a Seymour powerstage direct to the mixer?
YOU Rob and Joss allan are some of the best guitars players from across the pond. Im a canadian and play as well and one day ill maybe good as well. Peace and God bless.
Do ppl choose to use this like they use the Helix and other such products (Kemper, HC, etc) ? Anyone know someone who does?
That shimmer reverb is getting me dangerously close to making some bad decisions. XD
Observation: Rabea actually uses his face muscles to play those licks... Watch his face when he's jammin' a righteous guitar solo! Legend
😂 we all do don’t we? My stupid face looks hilarious sometimes...
Very good Woow
16:30 sounds so beautifully aggressive
Need to put the amp modeling capability in the Katana amp line so that the amp tones are more customizable like the GT1000 core. I was impressed by the segment where it was direct in the interface so that the amp tones were all on the GT. Having those modeling features in the Katana would open up that amplifier's potential exponentially. Great review of very cool tech Rabea. Thank you sir.
Katana wasn't designed to be that way however. The Katana was meant to sound like a Katana.
I am not able to do the same things as R. But I watch for the guitar faces. Thank You
Guitar player innovative. Entertaining and very impressive
Minute 16" Supreme sounds!awesome.
Is it analog dry thru? I’m interested in integrating w pedalboard. Thoughts? HX Effects does alter tone.
Damn, I was about to order the Strymon Iridium, but this sounds good as well and gives a lot more additional stuff and is not much more expensive..
It’s almost twice the price of the iridium...? But yeah very different functionality
I'm not at all against the Iridium, just a bit more interested into the newer Boss amp models like Natural Clean.
some of those sounds are found in the Roland GR-55 guitar synth unit, except here it seems you dont require the GK pickup. Damn impressive BOSS.
Cómo cuáles?
Man That Rocks 👍👍🎶🎶🎸
7:12 I couldn't for my life remember what that was from, but i got it, it's incubus right? A song off science I think.
Hey Bea awesome demo! From which band or artist is that shirt? Looks hella cool!!!
I'm mostly interested in the stomp boxes and not the amp modelling so it might still be very good for me.
Everything has been tweaked, ihad an ms3 and this sounds better. Not as noisy either
Rabea is looking great loosing the weight is looking great on him. Great stuff.
We want to know what YOU think Rabea! Is it worth it? Are the amp sounds legit?
Impressed as always with playing 👍not feeling the tones and sounds 😔 but cant figure out why. Too processed?
Haha as soon as you struck that D chord I knew you were going to play that Bryan Adams riff! @6:50
Yes ... the name of song ?
@@ferte45000 The song is called "It's only love"
Thank you !
It's cool !
Hey Rabea, great sounding guitar! I got a couple of questions, what model guitar are you using. Is that one of your signature guitars? Also what speaker and/or Amp are you using? The tone is 6:44 is mad cool! Good luck in your future endeavors. Thank you for posting this. Cheers from New York City.
Hello!
Great vid, as usual, congratulations!
One question: looking forward to Black Friday deals to get an amp modeller, but I have a big problem:
- Love Kemper Stage's profiling and sharing capability.
- Love GT 1000 core's size and price point.
- Love Neural Cortex's promising specs and UI based on nothing yet.
What should I do? Any thoughts? (I can afford any of them, but I am definitely not rich 😆)
Thank you in advance!
I’d wait until the Neural has more real world reviews before dropping $1500 personally because I’m looking to switch from HX Stomp and have this very Problem, I can’t afford any of them but my CC can 🤪
Did you end up making a move? Are you happy with the rig?
Its very nice. I have an ES8 and miss some effects from my beloved GT8... the question is, MS3 or GTK core? Each can be extracted from my big stationary board to do small gigs... but core is allways converting the signal... and I kind of love being straight to the amp... MS3 still apealls to me.
I use this with tonex, works perfect all for around a thousand bucks
The Fuzzy Ring Mod and Step Fuzz were the coolest parts of this pedal.
The step fuzz might be the thing that makes me buy one. It was awesome.
Love the MDP amp
Thanks Rabea and BOSS! i do wish there was a way to switch from unbalanced outs to balanced.
Boss GT 1000 or FM3??
2 outs for stereo?
What was the cable setup when you plugged into the SLO 100 ?
Nice quick overview. Can you ask Matt if the outputs are balanced? Their docs are unclear. If not, they need to be.
Feels good for a compact live rig, not a tonehunter's valhalla temple platform. But, could be different when you put your own IR's in there.
I wished Fractal audio would have some like this for that price range.
Bea will make anything sound good, period
I just bought one, I also have the line 6 Helix LT.
Man having a small little unit that pushes great great tones is brilliant. There are also just superb presets to download online from the tone studio.
Having something this small and powerful is just awesome.
It is tiny.
After a day, the Helix LT tones do seem fuller somehow, but I spent ages tweaking and tweaking that thing and a few hours messing about with my GT core.
Do you still have your gt1000? Do you like it better than the helix?
Thanks, Tim
@@1QuadControl Hey Angel, I'm curious how you are liking the box!
@@stk7778 By the way... my new channel, which is more geared around guitar, is Tim's Cabana (@timscabana). I'm just really getting started with it though...
