Also, I think TH-cam might have automatically deleted your comment. I was able to dig it up on my email. On part 2, you can combine extend tool with curve snap (ctrl+alt+left mouse click) to snap. Hi man Great videos man, can anyone please answer, if the blender settings are configured for accuracy, why can't a model (like the koenigsegg be used to a mock up or a prototype. What does alias have that would allow it to excel over blender. I ask because I have a school project and I'm thinking of learning alias just for this project, or can I just make due with using blender to create a prototype ??
Blender is polygon based while Alias is NURBS based. They're very different in how they approach modeling. Polygon based modeling is good for visualization and animation where mathematical (or surface) accuracy is not needed. This is why it's primarily used in the entertainment industry. Alias, on the other hand, along with other Nurbs based modeling tools, produce surface is that very accurate. When I say accuracy, I'm talking about being able to control highlight, and also being able to produce surface that is engineering criteria compliant (think specific dimensions, etc.). This is the reason why Alias is one of the top software used in automotive or product design industry instead of Blender. Now back to the school project, it really depends on what it is. If you're making a model that you need to assemble together and requires tight fit and finish, Alias might be the way to go. If you just need a sculpture in one piece, the Blender might not be bad. It really depends on what you're trying to do. Hope this helps!
Hello. I'm just trying Alias, so the question is probably simple. How do you snap to the edges of the image? I can bind to the grid through Alt, but through Сtrl and Сtrl+Alt the bindings do not work. And I don't know others (
@@3DDesignAcademy Yes, it worked! Last time I just didn't aim at the curve, thinking that Alias would snap to the closest curve to the cursor. And when the binding is already done, choose a place on the curve. Thank you.
@@kostyayaskevich6920 No problem! I'm glad you got it to work. With curve snap (ctrl+alt) the cursor does have to be on the curve, whereas with cv snap (ctrl) it just needs to be near.
Why did you set construction options this way? Why curve fit is 0.001. Why not 0.1 or 0.0001? what is the thought process behind your decisions? Why it's important? Please do a video about it!
Your marking menu maybe different. If you're using Alias 2024 or later, please go to the top bar menu, Preferences, Marking Menu, Classic Marking Menu. That way, your marking menu should be the same as the one that I'm using.
I also uploaded a version that is not cropped. Please let me know if this is what you're looking for. www.3ddesignacademy.com/courses/car-tutorial-lamborghini-aventador/
In order to access the information window, you have to click on ctrl+shift and right mouse button to open the marking menu and it'll be the button at the top. It might have looked like I just clicked on the screen due to either speed or how the video recorded.

Curve snap (Ctrl+Alt) should work. You probably also need the latest version of Alias, at least 2021 and newer, I believe. Let me know if it works.

Great tutorial, but this program is so unintiative.
It's not the most intuitive software, but it's also very powerful!
