Why do foreigners leave Thailand? This video offers perspective as to why, including interviews with foreigners who lived in Thailand 10+ years. Also interviewed, a local marriage counselor and attorney, who offer tips to help avoid common issues when living in Thailand as a foreigner. What mistakes do you see foreigners make most often when moving to Thailand? Please include in comments below.
I’m 53 ready to retire tomorrow have plenty of money to go to Thailand. I’ve been following your videos along with many others. The one thing that scares me is they say that people from the United States cannot live long-term and Thailand because they keep getting sick for some reason. Obviously you have proven that wrong, but is there any truth to it??? ❤❤❤❤ also, can you explain the marijuana legalities? I see it in a lot of your shots TH-cam won’t care you won’t get in trouble.!!! ❤❤❤
@@Trump-dj3xu If you have the money to live in Thailand, why don't you take a holiday first, for a few months travelling. I think the weed will be stopped this year, but that will not stop people from buying it, the government made a big mistake not controlling it better.
I like your rapid clip pace, you don’t waste footage, you get to the point and onto the next. It doesn’t move along too fast, just enough to keep viewers engaged. And do a great job blending your footage from diff times and areas to sew your store timeline together. And getting out front of people with your camera, a lot of youtubers shy away from approaching people and that actually makes the best content.
I came from California 1-1/2 year ago. My expectations coming here was to find a completely different way of life. I love Thailand I love Thai people and culture. I'll never go back to usa
This was an informative and well organized episode enriched with pearls of wisdom. It was great to see Tim Newton included as I haven’t missed a single episode of his in over four years. Great video and all of the individuals included in it highlighted great advice.

Thank you for the knowledge and awareness of the do and don'ts of what to do in any part of Thailand. Good educational warning for first timers who are there at present and about to go there for certain reason that they may have ...
fantastic video and informative guidance from you brother. You have covered a wide range of important topics into a great video. Much appreciated, and much appreciate your style, content and service. Thanks again.
(About the police checkpoint in this video at 08:38) they pulled over every single foreigner, and Thais without helmets. They did not honor my 🏍 license from a foreign country. Usually, they honor it, and usually when wearing a helmet there is no issue with being stopped. In the meantime, a Thai license is easy to get, but there is downtime between application and delivery. Hence, 'the Thailand tourist tax'.
Thank you for explaining. I saw your helmet and wondered what was the infraction. So convenient you could pay right there! No separate visit to a police station or wait for a court date. Great helpful tips!
Great video, very informative. I fell in love with Thailand after my first visit in May. Trouble is deciding where to get a long term rental, so spoiled for choice!
About police stops, if you did nothing wrong, tell them you would like to pay at the police station. They will have more paper work and so often let you pass without fine.
Just want to take the the time to personally Thank You for this video it’s very good very different.(In about a month i plan on retiring in The Land of Smiles) trying to suck up a bit of information i can get so Thank You 🙏🏽🇺🇸👍🏽

The attorney from the video shared some bad stories about foreigners and real estate transactions (purchases), that could have been avoided with a legal consultant on board 'due diligence". If I were to buy in Thailand, would definitely consider an attorney, and not a girl or agency, to help me navigate and make sure my best interests are preserved.
Great tips for every country. But why did you get pulled over by the police, you were wearing a helmet. Do you not have an international drivers license?
Ayngelina, this checkpoint was unusual as I never had a problem with it before. On this day, they were pulling over every single foreigner, and Thais without helmets. They did not honor my license from a foreign country. Usually, they honor it, and usually when wearing a helmet there is no issue with being stopped. In the meantime, am getting my Thai license!

Hi @ Philip James Enjoyed your video , my car driving license took about 1 hour in total and I left the building with my new Thai photo license, cost 205 baht the motorcycle license would add another 120 baht I think and only another 30 minutes or so , but I live in a non tourist area near korat , my first business idea for anyone is a comb shop in Pattaya or Phuket , guaranteed to meet only ladies , 👍
ha, TRT is quite common in the Phuket fitness circles. In an upcoming video will share why I am not on TRT (natural levels already high) and why monitoring blood levels is much easier and less expensive in Thailand compared to the U.S.
Okay 1000 bath it’s because no motorcycle Licence I have just licenses fore car Is there place in Phuket I can take motorcycle license ( in English) ?😊
Simple difference: Expats have money and options. Immigrants are looking for better opportunities to live and work. An immigrant moves to another country because they need better jobs or a safer life. They stay in the new country to earn money and start over. An expat is someone who moves to another country but doesn’t rely on it for money. They usually have good income or savings and are looking for a different lifestyle or experience. They can always go back home if they want.
I have to disagree with you with the tourist tax thing. By being friendly, smiling and laughing about it with the police, you just encourage them to keep doing this bad behavior of scamming the tourists and foreigners living in Thailand. Did he said to you the reason why he pull you over?
Well , the biggest mistake ( my opinion only ) is moving to Thailand. ....when you can go there as a tourist for any time you have in your situation and leave again. I mean ,look at the scene showing in the video : that Bangla walking street in Phuket. Cannabis shop. Kebap. I mean , the sheer ugliness of it , not Thai at all , and see the guys sitting in them bars , OMG ! and that beach the one interviewee talks about , shadeless and hot , who would sit there in the sun and get burned ? I once swam in Kata beach , and got stung by them things in the water , no thank you.Where I live , retired , not my born country , I have trees and shade on the coast and clear water with no critters in it that sting , and terrific food , and mostly no sweating weather , and no bars and girls and the ex-pats that frequent them , and beautiful OLD arquitecture. costs a little more ( or not , depending on youse bar-bills ) and if you European no problem with visa and all that entails. I like Thailand , well the North , and will go there again no doubt . but as a tourist.

It's true, anyone who wants to marry a good woman who dreams and overcomes obstacles together should follow Dr. Nat.😊😊😊
This was insightful mate. Well done. I love the tourist tax attitude actually. Too many get bent out of shape
Thank you Justin. And yes, any random fee < 1000 baht am happy to pay without disrupting my day. It beats paying overall inflated costs in the U.S.
But why must have a reason no int.licence?
You mention “living life” in Thailand. That’s nearly impossible in the US nowadays. I make 6 figures in Tampa, live in a 2/1 house and I’m strapped!!!
wow... 6 figures would bring you a high standard of living in Thailand.

Tha average salary is 500$ a month.
The average American lives way better then the average Thai
