I came to Thailand for employment (16 years). I am now retired in a town in rural Thailand. (4 years) As an American I have become less materialistic, learned to be more patient, and less judgmental. Being around a vibe of “politeness” and “sabai sabai” is definitely better for my mental health than the rat race and “tribalism” back in the USA.
    I like your videos btw

How is rural living? I've no interest in the city but fear language barrier in rural areas.

I lived in Bangkok for 4 years, 3 of them working and the other year just enjoying life. Your video makes me nostalgic for the life I had there. It's been 11 years since I left, but I will always have fond memories of the people, the food, the live music, and of just how much I loved my life there. I lived in SUkhumvit for a18 months, and the rest of the time in Sathorn, Soi Suan Plu. Both fabulous experiences. I found it so easy to make friends with locals, and with the expats I worked with. I was on a fairly tight budget but managed to do everything I wanted to do, and to explore many parts of Thailand and neighbouring countries. Loved the cheap markets that you find everywhere, any day of the week. Truly wonderful and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity. I've been back a few times but it was never the same as living there. Things changed, friends moved on, etc. Good on you for making the move! I hope you stay on for a while longer :)

When i was there nothing was in English. Not sure where she is? 🤔Also, Bangkok is a hussling city. I any country you go to you can find both the hussle & bustle and a more low paced lifestyle this includes the US.

@@AntoinetteYvonne Antoinette, I'm so glad to hear your response but it's obvious that you put a lot of thought and work into your vids. The multiple angles, even taking shots from the floor, placing the camera inside the condo and then opening the door from outside. There's a lot of thought there. Don't think that
this goes unnoticeable. Just saw someone mentioning the music you put in the background is also thoughtful. Good work Antoinette!

Honestly, I dream of 'escaping' the USA, especially the way it is here now, we just aren't what we used to be (the media has divided us deep) and I do fear that it's only going to get worse, both financially and socially. My channel is just starting (2yrs) and I'm trying to do van life...been trying...finances keep holding me up and cars either breaking down or vans needing fixed. You said, "Keep Living Life Beyond the Border" LOVED THAT!!!!!!!! I remember being in Selangor, Malaysia last year and LOVED that feeling of NOT being watched all the time, like here in the USA.
I felt lonely at times because I didn't know anybody there and Some aspects of life were difficult because I didn't know the place very well, but with more time there; things would've gotten better. I felt FREE there, like I could Go anywhere without being Watched & Controlled. On the Contrary here in the USA, there is always Somebody Watching You; your neighbors don't Talk to You, but they Are watching your every move. Americans are too CONTROLLING and the doctors here are very Arrogant.

Do you wear the Head gear for noise reduction? Just courious. If so, you may want to try some of the in the ear, noise cancelling wireless buds/plugs available, they work very well and are not hot! Take up much less room in the luggage. Costs range from US $15 to $250.00. I have tried a few and found that some of the $20-50 ones work quite well. Good Job on leaving the U.S. Stress Race! I think they think we have to participate, but we can just as easily leave, can we not? Have fun and enjoy the feeling!

I arrived in Thailand 6 months ago, I current live in Bangkok and am having a different time adapting to the sabai sabai mentality of thinking!
I retired from working at 38 yrs old. Which is a blessing and a curse! I fought so hard to accomplish things and now I don't know how to shift OUT of a "BE ON TIME" mentality!
I still have a problem slowing down when I walk thru the streets of Bangkok!
And even when I am consciously not trying to show impatience, either my body language or my direct candor is so intimidating here, until I don't feel comfortable going outside alot. Why? Because I get irritated seeing Thais body language says: I am scared of or uncomfortable around you!
As a minority and a lawyer in America, I am shown so much respect amongst my peers, but here some, only see me as a STEROTYPE or as a MONETARY OPTION!
Am I in the right head space mentality to be in, in a place that everyone is calling paradise compared to........? I did go to school to learn to speak Thai but the local still can't understand what I say or they are afraid to reply back to me.

News flash: They are "working girls". The give away: She says she going out with her friends on their "girls night". And they are carrying small purses and hand bags (to freshen up in the morning after doing the deed). Don't be naive yall!

Girls night is a euphemism for being a prostitute. It is just what women say when they hang out. Furthermore more, when women wear make up we carry hand bags to maintain the look throughout the night as well as carry our cards.
      Dresses don't have pockets.

Antoinette, I got that stand months ago and sent a picture of it to my sister. She bought one. And I bought one for my mother a couple weeks ago. That stand is perfect.

Thank you so much for sharing. I would like to go visit Thailand sometime this year and I wondered if they had a church I could go visit. When I heard you say that they did I was so excited.. can you please share the name of the church or contact information and do they speak English at the church thank you
