I retired in 1995 and sold everything and put my vehicles into storage. Thinking they would come in handy on my visits back. Big mistake when you break free do it all. I’ve been in Thailand for 25 years. 1 year in Bangkok, 2 years in Pattaya and the rest of the time in Chaing Mai. I love the food the people and the weather. It looks like I escaped the US just in time. I never regretted moving here. I purchased a small condo 15 years ago and remodeled it for an old man which I have become at 82. Still love it!
@ron horn thank you for you're perspective. I left the US with a suitcase, backpack and my dog a year ago and moved to Mexico at almost 50 years of age and really enjoy living out of the US. My life is so much happier, simpler, enriched and healthier. Thailand is definitely another place I want to explore. It's so freeing to get rid of everything and start an adventure at my age😊😊😊
Have only been to Thailand a few times and Chiangmai was my favorite place. My wife liked it to. Just seemed a little slower paced. Weather being a big factor. I’m 71 so beaches and sunbathing are not of much interest to me. There was tourists in the old town but once on the outskirts it was much easier going at least for us. There seemed to be a good nightlife with different things to do without the bar scene. Everyone who enjoys visiting Thailand should visit Chiangmai and if you enjoy traveling and visiting different cultural places put Thailand on your list.

This is a perfect example of a human being and shows me how shallow Western life has become compared to what this man has got its inspiring and lifts my heart.
Thai people have a laid-back and relaxed attitude! I love that. 🇹🇭 we also smile a lot and giggle all the time. Love & Take good care of yourself and your family. Your son is so adorable ❣️

I still travel 2 times a year, but since the virus ,can only live vicariously through you and other vlogggers I want to thank you for taking the time to share this with us,and showing us your life, and beautiful family. Thanks Ryan for highlighting the reasons; not to come to Thailand. Believe it's absolutely imperative that travellers leave their self-important attitude back home when entering another country. For those of us who call Thailand home and adore almost every aspect of this land it can be nauseating to listen to whining disrespectful tourists. Arrive with no expectations, depart with dignity!
Your sentiments are true for any country people may visit. One must avoid comparison and judgement based on first sight for a start. Love that last sentence
While I think it is imperative to look at the positive aspects of Thailand and living in it (or any place for that matter), I believe it is equally as shortsighted to see it all through rose colored and pretend that everything here in worthy of adoration. Like every place in the world, there are indeed aspects of Thailand that aren't so good, but in general its true, its best to focus on the good parts..Not every complaint or criticism of the country is invalid, nor do people deserve to be ostracized for pointing out its faults, or told to "go home if you don't like it"...I think if you've lived here, spend time, worked, married, had kids here etc, you are perfectly entitled to express your opinions, even if they may not always be perfectly optimistic...f you truly love something, you will see if for all of what it is, good and bad..cockeyed optimism can be just as bad as perpetual pessimism..
I do love the markets in Thailand, I love watching the "us and we" mentality. Everything here in the states is "I and me". The biggest thing I love about Thailand is the thread that everyone and everything is just more connected. People need one another to survive. Just found your channel and subscribed, thank you for sharing with us all your experiences, stay safe:)
As someone who's been 40+ years in Thailand, albeit living in the city, I think your attitude is spot on. Never mind about accumulating "stuff." All the best for the future with your wonderful family. Disregard the wingers and naysayers.
We visited Thailand in May 2016. The weather was great and Thai people are great. . We went everywhere including many islands. I must say we stayed in the back of the island Koh Pha ngan for 3 days in a small village and it was the best time in our lives. That will always be in my heart.
I visited Thailand once in 2010 and liked very much the people and how they are with each other. They are very friendly and the climate is hot as you say.
I really like Thailand - taught English there for two year back in the 2000s - but two months of the sweltering temperature is enough for me and I'm glad to get back to the UK.
Nice to watch. Thanks for sharing your day to day life and your thoughts. I completely agree and looking forward for your next contributions. I traveled annually to Thailand sine 1981, got finally the chance to work in Thailand for 5 years prior to my retirement. Since than I enjoy every single minute being in this beautiful country.
I love hearing your gratitude. Your life looks unbelievable…a family, a beautiful home and a quiet green space where you can grow food. I don’t know your story…my first episode…though imagine it took a lot of work and commitment to get there. All the best to you, and thanks for sharing! Inspiring. 😊
That’s an honest video. My wife and I both enjoyed Thailand and its people. She has told me several times she would be happy to live there. She is Filipino and other than the language and culture Thailand felt very much like home to her. In fact everyone thought she was Thai until she spoke! Hahaha. I grew up in Nevada so for me Thailand is an exotic vacation for me. I enjoy it but sometimes things drive me nuts. Also not speaking the language for me make it hard to truly know people the way I would like. We will hopefully get to visit there again a few more times before I’m unable to travel easily. We both enjoyed our time there and the food was so good. I actually lost weight there. Mostly because we walked so much. Now my ability to walk is more limited so Tuk Tuk will be our friend.
Man, I'm so happy I found this older video from you. What you say from 15:00 onward is so touching, inspiring and heartwarming. Thank you for those amazing words. It's exactly how I am currently feeling and what I'm looking for. 🙏❤️
First time I’ve visited your channel, like your Philosophy, most of people troubles are because of their own desires. Your little girl is a doll. What a great place fir a child to grow up.
First time I’ve watched your channel. Just wanted to say this was a really pleasant video to watch on bleak rainy morning in England. Great words of wisdom. Too much thinking of the past causes depression and too much thinking of the future causes anxiety. These words really resonate in my life. My Thai wife and I are looking to retire in Thailand for a slower pace of life away from the rat race. We have flights finally booked for the end of February. Looking forward to seeing friends and family. Thanks again for cheering my day up. I hope you and your family stay safe and well. 😊
You've totally got it. Just retired here from UK on Koh Chang. but lived in BKK for 5 years in 80's. Lived in slum with Thai family. Love the life, the culture. Now I'm Uncle Jim to everyone, loved, respected, cared for, rent free accom. Just got retirement visa - one year. Couldn't ask to be in a better place than with my adoptive Thai family. Humble, polite, good manners but with a good sense of humour for life's absurdities is all you need.
I like your flat out honesty. You don't complicate explanations that look like your are saying a lot but actually saying nothing. Blessings to you and your family. So thank you
Greetings from Sydney, Australia! Only found your channel today and this is the first vid I’m watching. I’m impressed with your advice and outlook on life. It’s very refreshing to hear you speak of self actualisation in the self absorbed world that is consumed by materialism and consumption. In all my travels around the globe, the happiest people I have found are those with the least material things.
I think those who were blessed to arrive before the internet boom (2012) and a few other things 🤐, we were/are lucky enough to see what changed drastically after those times.
Good points you covered when retiring to Thailand, all very true and important factors. Looking forward to getting back there one day soon, been 2 years now!! Thanks for the vlog, it's lovely to see all the Thailand living content 👍👍👍
Its nothing to do with color of skin, why would it? Its simply this, the Thai government stamp a non-immigrant visa in my passport, I would love to be an immigrant but they do not allow it. Usually an immigrant can become a citizen, have access to public funds and work. I cannot according to Thai law, which is why they classify me categorically as a non-immigrant. Thanks
Yes note the key word "PERMANENTLY". There is nothing permanent about my visa. A residency permit allows for permanent stay, difficult to acquire. I don't think I can explain it for you any clearer. So all the best.
Having lived in Thailand for over fifty years it would/is impossible to imagine having to return to the United States. The thought,to me,is as foreign as having to live on Mars. Yes, Thailand has gone, for me, far far past "I Love Thailand". It is truly a part of me. I've rebuilt Khmer ruins, and worked as Design Manager for a large furnituyre company for 35 years and I was adopted 51 years ago so yes, I have the Thai Government Social Security Medical Program. My home is Buriram/Surin.
I am an expat in jamaica, I find these videos extremely interesting and inspiring, life is very similar here ,and am getting some ideas from videos that will work here 😀keep posting and stay happy and safe .
Thank you so much for your channel. I look forward to seeing your vlogs every few weeks. I too miss Thailand, the people food and the climate. I left Thailand in September 2019 and haven’t been able to visit since because of the Pandemic. The way you go about your life there, your positive outlook is an inspiration to many I’m sure. Keep up the great content and wish you all the happiness for you and your family........
Very good, I once was on the bkk train- chai mai , I jumped off half way at phitsanulok , it was amazing the street vendors, the evening bars along river , the girls selling egg custard desserts in morning! Truly a different experience
Phitsanuloke is a big city located at the bottom part of northern Thailand. It is not on the tourist map yet. Your impromptu hopping in Phitsanuloke was a real taking the road less travelled.
Another awesome vlog Ryan!!! You’re an awesome life guru in my book!!! Thanks so much for sharing your insights and I love what you have to say today about the past and future……..it’s all about the NOW! Your place & garden is beautiful and your family too❤️ So cannot wait to go back to Thailand and establish myself & my husband there! Your videos give me hope and something to look forward to 😉 Take care & be well ❤️
I think everyone here feels the same way! I've been trying to get back since August 2020. I won't go until all restrictions are lifted. Hopefully, it will be next year!
Following based on my experience - and yes it is a generalisation so please take it as that : I have been retired in Thailand for 5years but lived in Asia for 22 years.. Generally ex Asia working expats seem very positive and accepting and appreciative of the way of life here. Those who have not spent time in Asia before moving to Thailand often present themselves as either very negative or critical or entitled (and sometimes bitter) and often complaining - but perhaps that has nothing to do with Thailand and just the type of people they are regardless where they live. As stated - based on my experience!!
Hey - great to know you're where you are, living the life you are living with your family! We have similar values over here, and have been stripping things away for the past few years. Here's to the now, and tomorrow's sunrise.
It took my a couple minutes to realize that you are joking. Nice. Thailand is great and easy going. For us foreigners with our passports, travelling is just a matter of paying the tickets and choosing a destination. Except for this Covid Crisis time which reminded us suddenly how privileged we are when there are no such travel restrictions. The people in Asia cannot travel easy even without Virus crisis. In fact this is a serious inequality and the so much praised "fair trade" doesn't exist for tourism except for us foreigners. This should be brought to the attention of the UN sooner or later.
I really like your philosophy about looking back at the past causing depression and to the future causing anxiety. I can see that with my own life living in California and "being caught up in the rat race." Additionally, watching your videos has always instilled a sense of calm, making my appetite to move to Thailand even greater. Keep up the great work.
It is BUDDHA’s teaching. My dad told me that since I was young. I was so worried these days and your comment helps me get the right perspective. THANKS 🙏 MUCH
I considered Vietnam but went with my first choice when I sold up in California. I'm happily in the Mediterranean since 2007. I would choose Vietnam over Thailand simply because I spent much more time there and have friends there. But I knew Europe would likely win out. I've no regrets but would like to visit again.
@@Lea-rb9nc Thats very interesting to me, that the med in Europe was your choice over Asia. I've had the same dilema, I love them both in equal amounts, yet for different reasons.
@@tman5634 I do understand. I must confess that Europe always had the edge as I knew I belonged there even before I was old enough to start school. However, I found Vietnam to be a very close second.
You hit the nail on the head. Was last in Thailand in 2012 and have been urging to get back ever since. Was waiting for the Smart VISA but then that didn't cover digital nomads and I wanted to do things legally. Might still just sign up for an education visa and sign up for a language course, I believe that is an option. Awaiting chance to discuss with Thai embassy ref recent announcements about Digital Nomad visa and those arrangements. And yes, being able to see Thailand through your channel is a chance to live vicariously through you and also maintain contact with Thailand. Phuket is my intended destination. Hoping to get there very soon, and for long term.
I’ve lived there 4 times for extended periods. My last 3 times I stayed mostly on Koh Samui. Heaven on earth. I got depressed every time I came back to the US. I can’t wait until I can come again! 🥰🥰🥰 ty I really enjoyed seeing this. Best food in the world, the freshest!
I was stationed there in 1969 for 18 months and lived at the king hotel. I was impressed with how little crime there was. We were out and about it all hours and never had a problem. Also we had to bargain for everything which we came to enjoy
What u said about one’s self trying to project a future or catastrophysin many different outcomes out of your control was what I really needed to hear, I’m only 42 but I’ll retire soon in the coming years and over the last 3-4 years I’ve shed back on everything, I want or need or have no urges, I’m so content with my minimalist lyf style and it’ll suit where u guys are, I will retire to Thailand to complete my journey to full peace in all aspects of my being and soul… I do look forward to the wonderful people and places, I’ve spent allot of time outside of australia and I love Thai culture, keep up the great content mate 😊
That’s a good point about drinking - it’s so easy to end up drinking all day, and all evening, until you realise you haven’t had an alcohol-free day in months. If you get into this rut, the health starts to go downhill. I know quite a few falang who have died from alcoholism in Thailand - only in their 40s.
Thanks again for today's video (and all of them of course). I was really curious about these three reasons not to live in Thailand. Not to say bye to this dream but to feel confirmed that this dream is more than a childish enthusiasm. Hahaha turning around your arguments I found you gave me good reasons again. Thanks for this. And thanks for these market pictures, I love it and I really miss these places of nice people, communication and yummy food. Mentioning those who would love to be there but who can't because of immigration restrictions... Yes indeed, since I've been to Thailand, I know what's the meaning of yearning and desire. But I try to enjoy my life here and I know there's a future that sees me there again and finally I'll stay forever. Thanks again for my favorite Sunday afternoon activity, greetings to your great family and stay safe 🙏🙏🙏
Love the spirituality of this video especially. You mention " being in union " ( with market people ) . There's such a humanity to your videos. It's like David Attenbourogh meets Michael Palin meets Delius. Your all the ambassadors that Thailand is so very fortunate to have. Thank you so very much 🙏🙏
First time for me,really enjoyed your philosophy on life & your laid back style. I retired here 9 years ago & im very happy living in Pattaya with my Thai partner. We swim in the pool every day couldn't cope with the heat like you . Totally different lifestyle but it's great for me also.
Miss Thailand over many years wonderfull memories yearly visits sad I losing my Thai and said because of health issues may not be able to return Love. your content so much honesty and from the heart
I can attest to that notion of "you can literally drinking yourself to death in Thailand" my dad did that. He retired to Thailand, have my brother and me and then died from it, leaving me and my brother with an inadequate mom whose have her own problem with alcohol and an abusive stepdad.
We also grow bell peppers since covid and they are the same size as yours! Haha... hopefully they will get bigger over time. I love how you combine your family life, talks about your project and just showing how you guys move things forward. Awesome.
I visited Thailand in 2011 and I miss it so much. I need to find something I can do online so I can move there. There are times here in Salt Lake City when the weather and atmosphere is just right to where it will remind me of being in Thailand.

For most people it would be very unsettling not knowing if immigration will issue your visa every year, especially when you have a family that depends on it. On the other hand, life does not issue guarantees on anything, which makes it even more important to live in the moment and deal with life as it unfolds.
Good afternoon from not so stormy Ramsgate. This week's vlog is so upbeat. Love your British sense of humour 😂, your adorable family ❤️ Seems like you've fulfilled your enviable life 👌 How I wish I was there! 🙏
Great video my friend. You are probably one of the most relaxed expats I’ve seen on here. Bravo to you my friend. Your family looks lovely as well. May you stay happy, healthy and joyful always.
I watched couple of your videos. I like how you explained about living in Thailand. The mentalities of the Thais, what works, what not. Your point of views are direct to the point and true. Great videos. 👍
Thanks for your explanation about why people shouldn’t retire in Thailand. I agree with you. Also, agree and totally understand what you said about peace in mind by letting things go as I am also a Thai retiree in Thailand.
Such sound advice and love how you took stock of yourself and the gratitude you have and realizing what really matters in life, thanks so much for sharing🙏🏽🇿🇦
I reckon you were spot on Ryan with the 3 reasons at start of the vlog. After 21 years of going to Thailand it took me the first few of them to get the go with the flow attitude.."This is Thailand"..Enjoy how you vlog trip out with Damo & Otis..Take care mate.
I am leaving New York tomorrow to join you in Thailand! Your understanding of the way of the Thai is impressive. I once made the mistake of raising my voice while in a public place with my Thai girlfriend. As I watched her leave, and I looked around the bank I realized that everyone had turned to silent statues who refused to make eye contact or acknowledge the presence of the out of control falang. I have changed, I love Thailand.
@@GUITARTIME2024 ,I'd rather raise her spirits by raising her on a pedestal. That's just me. Raising voice i believe would make most people more defensive, man or woman or in between. Not a very good way to communicate with your significant other. I most definitely would rather make her SCREAM at me--- my name, or God's name!
I found your channel while doing some serious research on moving to and retiring in Thailand. I must say that you are truly a wonderful human being. Your message resonates so much with my way of thinking. A few years ago I met a wonderful Thai woman in Ubon Ratchathani. She is a kind and beautiful person and very attractive too. Bonus haha She has a small house where I am welcome to live. Preparing for the post Covid world I’m trying to learn as much as possible about married life in Thailand. Your videos are of immense help. I too want to peel away the layers. Thank you so much 🙏
I Love Thailand for over 20 years! 💕Your a very great father and your vlog is hearttouching beautiful! Best content about living in Thailand. Thank you, "kap khun mak khaa"🙏
First time I've seen any of your videos. Quite agree with your assessments. Except the lack of air conditioning, but that's just an electrical appliance. To live in Thailand, I would want to be near the sea and keep cool that way. Another option for me would be to go up north, where there is a winter of sorts. I was once walking around Chiang Rai in shorts and T-shirt while the locals were donning big coats because it was freezing! (Not real freezing, Thai freezing, below 20 degrees.)
Same here, me and my friend were in shorts and T-shirts while the Thai girlfriends had woolly hats, scarves, gloves and big coats. Mind you we were up Doi Inthanon in December where they regularly get frosts at night. Even so, I think the temperature at the time was around 12c. Seems anything below 20c is freezing to Thais. Having said that, once we were in Pai the temperature at night went as low as around 7c and that felt pretty chilly. Also, same as you, this is the first time I seen any of these videos - I've been binge watching Paddy Doyle's videos and missing Thailand very much. We have a house in Thailand but cannot get back there for a while yet.
Well said in those messages. Thank you for sharing.

17 years in Thailand and I would say the number 1 reason to not to live in Thailand by far would be air quality, distant second would probably be the legal/justice system and probably third would be carbage on the side of the streets, rivers etc... very different list from yours, I guess also depends where in Thailand one lives?
Great video. I've seen many videos that tell you how to live "Long time" in Thailand, but its temporary and really sounds like a royal pain doing border runs and/or filing documents every year which they give you a hard time about etc. You have been there 13 years and clearly you're not old enough for a retirement visa. This is inspiring to me. Do you have a video or can you make one on how easy it is to move permanently to Thailand for those of us who wish to do so and not feel rushed into a finding someone for a marriage visa?
Thanks all for you continued support of the channel. Wishing you and your families all the best 🙏

Well said - I'm sure I had that crappy attitude when I was younger and had just started out travelling - I think I've got over myself now 😳
Your sentiments are true for any country people may visit.
Thank you Stephen - I appreciate it!
No luck with women over there?
UK,second most boring place after Belgium, but lordy best snack food in the world)))
I'm still laughing at "if that offends you it applies to you" statement. Thanks again for making my Sunday morning.
Haha 😂 i thought I was going to get more kick back for that but so far no takers 🙏✊🇹🇭
@@lifeinruralthailand Seems rare any more to have polite conversations when not agreeing. Miss seeing respect even when one disagrees.
Thanks for watching!
Thailand seems to be a wonderful place with wonderful people 😊👍🏼
I love hearing your gratitude.
Thank you for this video. It's like therapy to me. It made me pause and think of what I have at the moment and just be grateful for simple things.
Nice family, nice lifestyle, nice video... been living rural in Thailand for 20 years now...
Man, I'm so happy I found this older video from you. What you say from 15:00 onward is so touching, inspiring and heartwarming. Thank you for those amazing words. It's exactly how I am currently feeling and what I'm looking for. 🙏❤️
🙏😊🇹🇭
I live at Koh Chang, best decision in my life :-) even it was not easy to move from germany after divorce, 3 kids, house, depression etc. !
Germany may well be my second favourite country after Thailand..so your comments are a strong endorsement ❤❤❤ be well😊
How's the smoke
Welcome to the channel Chris 🙏🙏
You've totally got it. Just retired here from UK on Koh Chang. but lived in BKK for 5 years in 80's. Lived in slum with Thai family. Love the life, the culture. Now I'm Uncle Jim to everyone, loved, respected, cared for, rent free accom. Just got retirement visa - one year. Couldn't ask to be in a better place than with my adoptive Thai family. Humble, polite, good manners but with a good sense of humour for life's absurdities is all you need.
🙏☺️🙌😁
Your child is adorable! Your life looks so relaxed there Im very happy for you and your family.
Cheers
I like your flat out honesty. You don't complicate explanations that look like your are saying a lot but actually saying nothing.
Blessings to you and your family.
So thank you
Thank for watching and subscribing 🙏
Greetings from Sydney, Australia!
Only found your channel today and this is the first vid I’m watching. I’m impressed with your advice and outlook on life. It’s very refreshing to hear you speak of self actualisation in the self absorbed world that is consumed by materialism and consumption. In all my travels around the globe, the happiest people I have found are those with the least material things.
Thank you and welcome brother 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for being brave enough to follow your heart and share your dreams with everyone.
You're right, your viewers deeply love Thailand.
🙏✊☺️🇹🇭
I think those who were blessed to arrive before the internet boom (2012) and a few other things 🤐, we were/are lucky enough to see what changed drastically after those times.
Good points you covered when retiring to Thailand, all very true and important factors. Looking forward to getting back there one day soon, been 2 years now!! Thanks for the vlog, it's lovely to see all the Thailand living content 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching 🙏
I spent a year in Thailand and learnt the language fairly quickly out in the sticks.
Lovely place hope to go back someday.
This channel is greatly enhanced by your philosophical reflections towards the end.
Thank you 🙏
Not according to the Thai government , I am and have been specifically referred to as a non-immigrant, passport stamped and all. thanks
It
is truly a part of me. I've rebuilt Khmer ruins, and worked as Design Manager for a large furnituyre company for 35 years and I was adopted 51 years ago so yes, I have the Thai Government Social Security Medical Program. My home is Buriram/Surin.
🙏✊🇹🇭☺️
Oh, my home is also Buriram. It's in the Buriram district, Satuek.
You aren't missing anything in the United States. One giant clusterf**k.
Glad you are happy in Thailand. I have never visit Buriram before but I'm sure looking forward to it.
Have you guys in Buriram been forced to get jabbed? I know the locals cannot work or travel outside without having to quarantine for 14 days.
Thanks so much - wishing you all the best brother
Your videos give me hope and something to look forward to 😉 Take care & be well ❤️
Thank you Marietta - so glad you find hope from the vids 🙏❤️🙏
This is my first time checking out this channel and the host’s honesty just blows me away!!!
Thank you 🙏
Cannot wait to be back in Thailand.
Hope you can get back soon brother 🙏
"Too much past is depression, Too much future is anxiety." Well said, Profound even, Hope I can carry that one with me for while. Thank you.
🙏🙏🙏
Cannot wait to get back to Thailand
Hope you can get back soon 🙏
I think everyone here feels the same way! I've been trying to get back since August 2020. I won't go until all restrictions are lifted. Hopefully, it will be next year!
Your vlogs are a brilliant watch. A big thank you to you and your family.
Agreed 🙏
You know the things I like about you......
You are very genuine guys
May God bless you.
It is nice to always see how happy Otis is.
🙏😁✊🇹🇭
You would then see these places change.
Really swallowed the entire bs narrative huh?
There are good reasons for this and you know damn well what they are.
I never knew how much I enjoy Thailand . Thankyou peace fellow babies.
I really like your philosophy about looking back at the past causing depression and to the future causing anxiety. I can see that with my own life living in California and "being caught up in the rat race." Additionally, watching your videos has always instilled a sense of calm, making my appetite to move to Thailand even greater. Keep up the great work.
Thank you Roger, wishing you all the best brother
It is BUDDHA’s teaching. My dad told me that since I was young. I was so worried these days and your comment helps me get the right perspective. THANKS 🙏 MUCH
I considered Vietnam but went with my first choice when I sold up in California. I'm happily in the Mediterranean since 2007. I would choose Vietnam over Thailand simply because I spent much more time there and have friends there. But I knew Europe would likely win out. I've no regrets but would like to visit again.
@@Lea-rb9nc
Thats very interesting to me, that the med in Europe was your choice over Asia.
🙏🙏🙏
I’ve lived there 4 times for extended periods. My last 3 times I stayed mostly on Koh Samui. Heaven on earth. I got depressed every time I came back to the US. I can’t wait until I can come again! 🥰🥰🥰 ty I really enjoyed seeing this. Best food in the world, the freshest!
🙌🙌🙌❤️
I was stationed there in 1969 for 18 months and lived at the king hotel. I was impressed with how little crime there was. We were out and about it all hours and never had a problem. Also we had to bargain for everything which we came to enjoy
🙏🙌🇹🇭✊
What u said about one’s self trying to project a future or catastrophysin many different outcomes out of your control was what I really needed to hear, I’m only 42 but I’ll retire soon in the coming years and over the last 3-4 years I’ve shed back on everything, I want or need or have no urges, I’m so content with my minimalist lyf style and it’ll suit where u guys are, I will retire to Thailand to complete my journey to full peace in all aspects of my being and soul… I do look forward to the wonderful people and places, I’ve spent allot of time outside of australia and I love Thai culture, keep up the great content mate 😊
my son lives in Thailand with his two thai children, we live UK. Hope we can get to see them soon in Bangkok
Hope you can get back soon Sandy 🙏
You have FANTASTIC FAMILY. I really love your children how they speak both languages - Thai & English. You are a happy man. God bless and your family.
Thank you 🙏
That’s a good point about drinking - it’s so easy to end up drinking all day, and all evening, until you realise you haven’t had an alcohol-free day in months. If you get into this rut, the health starts to go downhill. I know quite a few falang who have died from alcoholism in Thailand - only in their 40s.
Great video and beautiful family. Title image looks like intro of 60’s sitcom Green Acres !
You are welcome and glad you enjoyed the vlog 🙏✊☺️🇹🇭
Love the spirituality of this video especially. You mention " being in union " ( with market people ) . There's such a humanity to your videos. It's like David Attenbourogh meets Michael Palin meets Delius. Your all the ambassadors that Thailand is so very fortunate to have. Thank you so very much 🙏🙏
Thank you Patrick!
First time for me,really enjoyed your philosophy on life & your laid back style.
I retired here 9 years ago & im very happy living in Pattaya with my Thai partner.
We swim in the pool every day couldn't cope with the heat like you .
Totally different lifestyle but it's great for me also.
Wish you good life always Chris. Very heartening to hear you are blissful 🙏
Miss Thailand over many years wonderfull memories yearly visits sad I losing my Thai and said because of health issues may not be able to return Love. your content so much honesty and from the heart
He is such a adorable little boy
A tip from a geezer gardener: Plant the peppers closer together, so the leaves from one plant just touch it's neighbor.
I can attest to that notion of "you can literally drinking yourself to death in Thailand" my dad did that. He retired to Thailand, have my brother and me and then died from it, leaving me and my brother with an inadequate mom whose have her own problem with alcohol and an abusive stepdad.
Stay strong my friend 🙏
love what you say at 18,35, wise words! you clearly figured it out.
Thanks!
We also grow bell peppers since covid and they are the same size as yours! Haha... hopefully they will get bigger over time. I love how you combine your family life, talks about your project and just showing how you guys move things forward. Awesome.
😁✊🙏🇹🇭
Small ones can be good when you don't need a large one and the seed pods may be much smaller.
I visited Thailand in 2011 and I miss it so much. I need to find something I can do online so I can move there. There are times here in Salt Lake City when the weather and atmosphere is just right to where it will remind me of being in Thailand.
"Hope It's not sweep off your feet. Business here is brooming, isn't it?"
I was bursting my laugh. hope every one catches that as well. haha
🙏✊🙌🇹🇭☺️
I like what he said as well. And I am so pleased that I am able to comprehend the beauty of the language.
Blooming is what you said, may be? Even though it has a similar sound as brooming (sweeping).
Thank you Ryan for your wisdom.....(my grandson's name is Ryan! ❤️) You have brightened up my day with your vlog and I will continue to watch you and your wonderfully blessed family.....you are an amazing Father and Husband!... I am a retired, 71 y/o single lady, (Grandma, Great-Grandma) and your video has given me peace and serenity....I am working on letting go of the past, and living in the present....staying healthy and eating organic.....looking forward to seeing your next vlog.....don't ever change your way of life or philosophy or reason for vlogging....the travel and food-eating ones have become monotonous ..... Love you all, Annie from Tampa, FL 🙏😊👍🏼❤️
Thank you Magee 🙏🙏🙏
For most people it would be very unsettling not knowing if immigration will issue your visa every year, especially when you have a family that depends on it. On the other hand, life does not issue guarantees on anything, which makes it even more important to live in the moment and deal with life as it unfolds.
Exactly 🙏
Good afternoon from not so stormy Ramsgate. This week's vlog is so upbeat. Love your British sense of humour 😂, your adorable family ❤️ Seems like you've fulfilled your enviable life 👌 How I wish I was there! 🙏

Great video my friend. You are probably one of the most relaxed expats I’ve seen on here. Bravo to you my friend. Your family looks lovely as well.
May you stay happy, healthy and joyful always.
Thank you 🙏
Really enjoy your vlogs Ryan, I appreciate the way you express your thoughts on life and reality, all the best to your family mate.🙏
Thank you for the continued support Mark - stay well brother 🙏
I watched couple of your videos. I like how you explained about living in Thailand. The mentalities of the Thais, what works, what not. Your point of views are direct to the point and true. Great videos. 👍
Thank you Anna and welcome to the channel 🙏😊
Thanks for your explanation about why people shouldn’t retire in Thailand. I agree with you. Also, agree and totally understand what you said about peace in mind by letting things go as I am also a Thai retiree in Thailand.
Exactly 🙏✊🇹🇭
Thailand is one of the most awesome place i ever visited. people are just amazing.
" too much past is depression, too much future is anxiety " Yes.... the moment is all we really have... it's good to repeat and remember.
Cheers Jim - all the best mate 🙏✊🇹🇭
I think that 3 good reasons to live in Thai land ,as long as you’re the right sort of person
🙏✊
Life is really what we make of it. Simple is my life now and one can be so happy and free. Take care family.
🙏❤️🙏
I am leaving New York tomorrow to join you in Thailand! Your understanding of the way of the Thai is impressive. I once made the mistake of raising my voice while in a public place with my Thai girlfriend. As I watched her leave, and I looked around the bank I realized that everyone had turned to silent statues who refused to make eye contact or acknowledge the presence of the out of control falang. I have changed, I love Thailand.
Behind doors, raise your voice sometimes. . Never let her think she's totally tamed you. It's a turnoff.
Thank you so much 🙏
Thank you for your kind words Andre - appreciate it 🙏😊
I Love Thailand for over 20 years! 💕Your a very great father and your vlog is hearttouching beautiful!

✌️
Yes I think so, where we live both physically and psychologically 🙏🙏
Thankyou from the UK. Lovely videos and a beautiful family too. Always take great care
Thanks Kevin 🙏
Great video. I've seen many videos that tell you how to live "Long time" in Thailand, but its temporary and really sounds like a royal pain doing border runs and/or filing documents every year which they give you a hard time about etc.
You have been there 13 years and clearly you're not old enough for a retirement visa. This is inspiring to me. Do you have a video or can you make one on how easy it is to move permanently to Thailand for those of us who wish to do so and not feel rushed into a finding someone for a marriage visa?
