@@giuseppelogiurato5718 Oh, sorry. I left out a lot of details that would have clarified my answer. However, this is what is going on in heaven - 1 Peter 4:6. There are a lot of people who were not taught the gospel while in mortality. Now they are getting a chance to hear it and decide whether or not to accept it.
As a Jew, I have experienced only mutual respect and caring from my Mormon friends and neighbors. They have never tried to evangelize me (unlike other Christians), and for that I’m deeply grateful. Whenever I see missionaries in my town, I always say hello and thank them for their service to the church. Thank you for highlighting this positive aspect of the church.
Evangelizing is illegal in Israel by anyone. The LDS church used to do proxy baptisms for victims of the Holocaust till they were told to stop (though they had to be told twice). Mormon missionaries go door to door to everyone else to tell them their religion is wrong (though they pretty much sugarcoat it these days). The fact that individual Mormons might be nice people doesn't change the fact that their dogma is without merit.
Mormons taught me that I was Jewish. My nonexistent jewish heritage explain why I was born in the US with relative wealth, it was my Jewish birth rite. Glad they haven't tried to convert you. That would be awkward when they start teaching you about how they believe they are Israelites.
Mormons tend to be solid, patriotic Americans, hard working, educated, sensible people who live good lives and treat their family, friends, and neighbors with respect and kindness. I will never join any organized religion but if I did, Mormonism would not be much of a stretch for me to fit into. Their values are my values.
@@stephenjackson5065 Because any time you are dealing with organized religion, you are dealing with someone who does not have altruistic motives. Somebody is getting paid to preach, and derives his living from being the preacher. It's a business, and people get paid in it. I say, take your money into your back yard on a calm day, throw the money into the air, and what god wants, god will take. The rest belongs to you. Never tithe, never donate to the collection basket, never give a dime to those who pander their "only through this donation shall you receive eternal life!" lies to you. I trust no MAN who claims to speak for god, ESPECIALLY when he has his hand out. And neither should you. Beware the rich man who speaks of being a poor and humble servant. HE LIES TO YOU. I need nobody else to define my personal relationship with god. Sometimes I pray. Maybe he listens. I am good to my family and friends and live by the principles of honesty and integrity. I need no charlatan to tell me I'm doing it wrong.
The Mormon "religion" is just about one of the richest businesses in the world. What a shocker 💰 Everytime i go to Washington D.C. this temple is a striking reminder of that. It is beautiful. Money can bring happiness and beauty, obviously and if you don't have it, you're not in.
Why do others criticize the Church for good financial stewardship? Part of the reason the church has the money is because they do not have a paid clergy at most levels in the church. This allows the church to give over $1 BILLION a year to world-wide humanitarian projects.

I read this type of comment often on stories about Temples of the Church. I think that what is needed here is more understanding of the incredible humanitarian efforts that are the results of the free donations from the members of the church, in both time and money. Then I think, rather than being cynical about such money and attention going to structures like this, the response should be, “this must be a special church to build such structures that create a membership that is so freely giving of their time, talents and interests to helping others, non-member and member alike, all over the world.”
@@DennisAroundtheHouse These temples should be built the day everyone is fed and housed. Until then God is nowhere near that temple... he's under the bridge with the people they forgot about.

The goal is to uplift people and join families and that is the message of Christ and the temple.

Greedy empire, which spends very little on such causes relative to its pile of filthy lucre. Ensign Peak Investment is where the church hides its money. $150 billion and climbing.
Great suggestion. Where would I go to see the Church’s charitable contributions quantified? With $120 billion in the bank, I bet their charitable contributions are off the charts, right?
No their charitable donations are not off the charts they’re way more into advertising with their temples. They are a multibillion dollar company and are in the business of keeping their product in the eyes of the public. It’s disappointing to see Sunday morning advertising for them!
They also donated heavily ... in the millions of dollars ... toward California Proposition 8, banning gay marriage. Not all their money is spent to "join families" and "uplift people". It's one thing to believe what you want to believe in one's own religion; it's another thing to spend money to blur the line between church and state. This is not the only religion to stick its nose into the public square; the Catholic Church does the same. Then when they get criticized, they think it's unfair. Well, guess what, if you go into the public square to push an agenda, it is fair for others to push back.
I agree on the "do your homework" part. If you do it honestly and with the intent to find the truth and pray to God to know, you'll find out for yourself that it really is true

After all this, study and think for yourself.

However, I have a copy of the Koran, and I treat it with respect. I treat my Muslim friends with respect. I respect Hijabs and strive to understand why they are worn. I respect the great sacrifices it takes to fast during Ramadan and make pilgrimages to Mecca, even if I don't make the pilgrimage my self. I'm not Catholic, but I respect the sacrifices made at lent. I don't honor canonized saints like Catholics do, but I respect that they do; I understand it's sacred to them. I'm not Buddhist, but I'd never deface or disrespect (with my deeds or words) a statue of Buddha. I have in turn, in large measure, received much respect from my Muslim, Catholic, and Buddhist friends. I appreciate that respect, even while they disagree or consider my beliefs as nonsense. The hosts and staff of CBS may not believe in the Book of Mormon. They may not share the tenets of my faith, but I'm grateful they respected what I hold as sacred.

3:29 "Today, church members avoid calling themselves Mormons, emphasizing instead what they share with other Christian faiths, a reverence for Christ. What "other Christian faiths"? There's ONE Christian faith, as taught in the Bible. LDS is not biblical. It's an entirely different religion. That's why Joseph Smith founded it. From the official LDS site, under the section, JOSEPH SMITH-HISTORY: 18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)-and which I should join. 19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.”
@@dctalk30 Actually, the Church of Jesus Christ does have quite a few: Daniel 2: 44,45: The kingdom that will be set up in the last days. "What other Christian faith?" Hmmm. How about Roman Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity, Calvinism, Lutheran Anglican, Baptist, Southern Baptist, Church of England, Methodists, Episcopal, Presbyterianism, non-denominational, etc. All these Christian religions have some doctrine in common, but they also have many differences.
They have "baptized" Anne Frank and other notable religious figures that are dead. They argued (after doing that) that they are actually just opening a door for them in the after life to go to heaven, that Anne Frank is in hell, and that her baptism allowed her to go to heaven if she renounced her Jewish faith. It's kind of gross
Don't be ignorant. That is not at all how it works. If you listened to the video, the apostle from the church literally said the dead people have the choice to accept or deny the baptism, while in heaven. You'll probably end up baptized when you're dead too. Also, I highly doubt they said Anne Frank is in hell, because mormons don't believe in hell. You must've mistaken them for literally every other Christian except maybe Catholics who have the purgatory. Other Christians are the ones who believe Anne Frank will go to hell for not believing in Jesus Christ. Spreading misinformation is what is kind of gross.

@@DennisAroundtheHouse Tithing is mandatory. The LDS church has over $100 billion dollars of members tithe money meant for charity in an investment firm, Ensign Peak. A few million dollars are used each year for charity.
Yes, paying tithing (a Biblical principle), believing in God and the restored gospel, chastity, abstaining from harmful substances (our bodies are temples, another Biblical teaching), being honest, supporting children, etc are most of the temple interview questions. Mostly, its about believing in God, living the 10 commandments, and believing that God authorized church has been reestablished.
The outside of the temple is stunning but the inside pales in comparison....the celestial room of straight back couches?????? Why do they not use the same grand architecture on the inside? I have dear LDS friends. I'll ask them. Unfortunately not all LDS are granted "worthy" to enter. If marriages are "sealed" for eternity in the temple, how then do allow and grant so many divorces?
Why so many divorces? Because we are human and imperfect! Sealings only work if both partners keep the promises, commandments, and the covenants they make with God and each other.
I have a better answer. I don't know if temple sealed mormons have a higher divorce rate than other faiths or the general population. I do know that the stresses in a typical LDS marriage are quite often unique. One has to understand the LDS culture, but in short, at 18 and 19 year old young people are strongly encouraged, today not unfair to say "obligated" to go on a two year mission, at least for young men, where they are under extraordinary supervision and control. You then immediately get married, certainly within a year, and promptly start making babies. So think about it. Eternity is a space time concept that humans can't fully even comprehend, but the culture has you marrying someone...anyone so long as they are a returned missionary and otherwise fit the temple bill but typically were acquainted with for only a relatively short time, for eternity. When you come to understand how cultishly controlling this religion is, it actually makes perfect sense. Get the young people committed before they go off and start exploring their youth and sexuality, and keep them committed.
Such an amazing place that I am glad I can go through. When I joined in 1999 to do baptisms there, I knew I was where I had to be. At these iconic temples, I have received more answers through prayer.-Chad James
Jesus was perfect, and he was perfect so he could give his perfection to us as a gift. Consider the completed action in this Scripture: For by a single offering he [Jesus] has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified (Hebrews 10:14). Lucifer says, “Make you aprons.” In effect, do some of it yourself-it’s the only way to preserve some semblance of pride, dignity, and self-respect, and to gain for yourself what you need. That is quite consistent with the instructions every Latter-day Saint is given before going through the temple endowment ceremony. Your Endowment is, to receive all those ordinances in the House of the Lord, which are necessary for you, to enable you to walk back to the presence of the Father, passing the angels who stand as sentinels, being enabled to give them the key words, the signs and the tokens, pertaining to the Holy Priesthood, and thus gain your eternal exaltation. Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30). In effect, “I’ve done it for you, all of it. Now are you willing to humble yourself enough to simply take it?” As long as you are trying to contribute anything of your own to merit God’s provision of eternal life in His presence, you are rejecting the gift of Jesus Christ’s finished work on your behalf. Jesus said: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28). (Nowhere in the Scriptures does Jesus say anything about an apron…or grips…or signs and tokens.) You can trust Jesus.

Yup… just what Jesus imagined while there are thousands of people without a home.

We are saved by grace through faith and nothing else.

it is not the gospel of Jesus Christ, and therefore if it’s not THE GOSPEL but it is the false gospel.
Grace is getting what we don’t deserve , it is unmerited favor, and it means we don’t do anything in the process to obtain it.
We just simply receive it by faith.
The covenant , the promise of our redemption is based on what the Lord did, not what we do ,
therefore even if we sin God won’t break his promise to us ,because it was never conditional, it was never based on what we do, but only on what Jesus did for our salvation.
That is grace!
We don’t deserve it.
We don’t work for it.
We don’t work to keep the grace,
It’s free gift, unmerited.

For anyone thinking of investigating Mormonism: Do your homework, use critical thinking, ask people who left WHY they left.
Or ask why they joined, or why they stay, or in my case, why we came back.
I agree on the "do your homework" part. If you do it honestly and with the intent to find the truth and pray to God to know, you'll find out for yourself that it really is true
Absolutely do your homework. And I would suggest you make it balanced as others replied: ask people why they left, ask people why they joined (and stay,) and in particular for those who are the most loud and critical in the public/online sphere, find out if they have a personal axe to grind -- they usually do. After all this, study and think for yourself.

Because through many Bible verses like Rev 22:18,19 God WARNED to NEVER ADD any word to the Bible THIS IS WHY Mormons ADED their book to the Bible to insult God saying that as all knowing God He was NOT INTELLIGENT enough to write in His Bible ALL what is necessary for salvation and for this reason Mormons saw as necessary TO ADD their book to the Bible to correct the Almighty all knowing God.
ADDING their book the Mormons make clearly that THEIR God was dull when He gave His Bible without ALL necessary for salvation and THEIR God is only LUCKY with their book of Mormon to make the God of the Bible as more intelligent having ADDED the book of Mormon.
&So is clearly to see the book of Mormons AS GREATEST INSULT AGAINST THE ALMIGHTY ALL KNOWING GOD of the Bible ADDING the book of Mormon to the Bible TO HELP GOD to be intelligent having the ADDED book of Mormon
HOW COME that Mormons cannot SEE the book of Mormon as GREATEST INSULT AGAINST GOD ??.

What "other Christian faiths"? There's ONE Christian faith, as taught in the Bible. LDS is not biblical. It's an entirely different religion. That's why Joseph Smith founded it.
From the official LDS site, under the section, JOSEPH SMITH-HISTORY:
18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join.

I like to think of it like the intimacy in a marriage. There are certain things between marriage partners that, if they are faithful one to another, are kept just between them -- not because there is anything "spooky" or "weird" or "suspicious" but, as Elder Bednar said, because -- just like in the case of the temple -- the experience is so very personal and holy that you don't go blasting it all over town. Not everything in a person's life, or in their private relationships -- including their relationship with God, is in a class of things to put on display. I have experienced some things in my life that I have shared only with those who are closest to me -- and some that I have shared with no one. Not because they are a "secret" -- implying that no one else is ever supposed to experience the same things, but because they are indeed sacred, holy, and personal.

Then I think, rather than being cynical about such money and attention going to structures like this, the response should be, “this must be a special church to build such structures that create a membership that is so freely giving of their time, talents and interests to helping others, non-member and member alike, all over the world.”
Funny that, none other than Judas said something similar in the New Testament…

Religion sure is good for business!
They have the nerve to call themselves apostles, doesn't God hate Golden idols
Do you need to pay 10% of your income to the LDS church, in order to enter the temple?
Yes, paying tithing (a Biblical principle), believing in God and the restored gospel, chastity, abstaining from harmful substances (our bodies are temples, another Biblical teaching), being honest, supporting children, etc are most of the temple interview questions. Mostly, its about believing in God, living the 10 commandments, and believing that God authorized church has been reestablished.

Scientology has beautiful buildings too.
Now are you willing to humble yourself enough to simply take it?”
As long as you are trying to contribute anything of your own to merit God’s provision of eternal life in His presence, you are rejecting the gift of Jesus Christ’s finished work on your behalf.
Jesus said: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28). (Nowhere in the Scriptures does Jesus say anything about an apron…or grips…or signs and tokens.) You can trust Jesus.

Born and raised D.C. (not MD, not VA, D.C.). Perhaps new arrivals to the DMV feel a sense of wonder and awe for the “Oz”-like architecture of this place. But people who are from the area are all too aware of what that place is and the bigotry it symbolizes. These people’s values are not indigenous to the region, and they and their building feel terribly out of place. I’ve always dreaded seeing it from the Beltway. It’s ugly to me, CBS’s bizarre and unfortunate decision to glorify it notwithstanding.

They should only be exempt if they actually do charity, which this organization does very little.
