  • We have had our 2023 ‪@hyundai‬ Tucson for one year and we have put over 14000 miles on it, taken several 1000 plus mile road trips, used it for overland camping and campsite scouting and to move. So, would I recommend it and is it any good? Check out the video to find out.

    I just purchased the 2024 Tucson limited. I agree with everything you said. I generally really love it, with a couple of thing I'm not crazy about. Gas mileage is poor (especially since my Honda gets well over 30 miles/gallon). That is my biggest complaint, but I knew that going in. I do love so much about it, though, from the panoramic sunroof to the heated seats and steering wheel.

    I bought a ‘23 Tucson SEL last year and I adore it. Gets 40+mpg on road trips. Mine is only FWD, but does just fine on dirt and gravel roads. Wireless fruit and robot connection as well since it doesn’t have built in nav. Overall it’s a nice upgrade from my ‘20 veloster. Also in Amazon gray. I love the color. Thanks for the video

      First, thank you for watching and the comment! I'm glad you like yours. That's great mileage. Is yours a hybrid or just the gas model?

      It’s just the gas engine. I average about 30mpg or more on a regular day. It has the smaller 17” wheels so I think that helps a little. Also, the 8 speed keeps the revs really low when cruising in high gear.

      That's solid mileage. I guess AWD makes a bigger difference than I would have guessed.

    I have a 2023 Limited and really enjoy it save for one thing - seat comfort. I a big guy - 6'3", 225 lbs and I'm just not as comfortable in the seat as I was in the 2021 Subaru Legacy I traded in for it. The seats are pretty firm and don't have a lot of thigh support. Something I didn't notice on two 20 minute test drives. Fortunately almost all my driving is short trips.

      Thanks for watching and commenting. We had a 2013 Subaru Legacy and it was one of the most comfortable vehicles we have owned. I think maybe only the Honda Pilot and Tesla Model 3 were more comfortable. It's so hard to buy a vehicle with a short test drive given the expense of vehicles these days.

      @BenInBeta oh, and your issue with power is your high elevation. Here in sea level Florida it feels pretty peppy. You probably have 15% less power up there plus the hills. Turbo engines do better at altitude like that.

      @jeffmorse645 yeah it was better when we were in California and when I was visiting my Mom in Wisconsin. That's one reason I'm excited for the Tacoma, since it'll be turbocharged.

      Mine was new when I purchased it, and I didn't have any issues beyond what I talked about in the video. A couple of software things and the engine overheating message that slowed the car down and then went away like 5 seconds later. That happened twice in the first couple of months and then never again.

    Just bought a 2024 N line Hybrid. Had it fornabout a month now. Like the extra power the hybrid gives, but gas mileage a bit disappointing on the highway. Look forwqrd ti doing sime camping with it this summer.

    Great video thank you. I have a question for you if you wouldn’t mind answering. I was considering purchasing a Tesla but I live in Florida and with the hurricanes I just would rather have a gas engine during those moments. I rented the Tucson and really enjoyed it. Seems well built and like it will last the 6-8 years I usually own cars for. My question to you is was the gasoline savings with the Tesla really so much more in cost of ownership that it’s a better buy overall? All in all considering insurance and everything included in ownership is electric going to save me a lot more money over 6-8 years of ownership or am I about even going with a gasoline Tucson? Not interested in the hybrid. Thank you

      How much do you drive? Like how many miles and are they mostly highway or city?

    • @karlvlawton

      @@BenInBeta About 13k annually. Mostly highway for work.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@karlvlawton So with that many miles a year, if you can charge at home, the Tesla will save you money over the long haul as long a electricity doesn't sky rocket. If you are able to add solar that can be greater, but the initial cost also goes up. There's more scheduled service and cost with the gas car. However, generally the cost to insure and and fix an electric vehicle is more expensive. I liked both the Tesla and the Tucson so I don't think you'll go wrong with either one.

    I have had my Tucson for exactly the same time as you and have done only a little less miles in that time. I think your review was generally very fare. I was interested in the figures you gave for fuel economy. I got about the same around town but way better on the highway. I have to wonder if that is a benefit of having two wheel drive. I also don’t really notice the lack of power you talk about, this also may be help by the TWD. I would say going from a Tesla anything would feel underwhelming. Last thing I would mention is my pet hate, and that’s the fact that the keyless entry doesn’t work on the rear doors, if you have something to put on the back seat you first have to open the front doors. But over all I love this car.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Graham, thanks for the extra information from your end. Yeah, it's possible the FWD version gets better hwy and has better acceleration. I also agree with the rear doors it is annoying. But it's a solid vehicle and we are very happy with it overall. Not that I've driven a few other vehicles in the past couple of weeks, my issue is really with the throttle response itself in my Tucson. It takes a second or two for the engine to kick in. It probably is also because I live at 6000 ft of elevation. Thanks so much for watching!

    We love ours with a few exceptions. We had a CX5 before it is is a better handling car with more upscale standard features at its top level. However, interior room, fuel economy (we took a 4000 trip through the Pacific NW averaged 33 mph) is much better overall. We too have slept in it and it has the room. Wish it handled a bit better and wish that it had a HUD and spare tire.

      Thanks for watching and your take on the Tucson. A few years back we highly considered the CX5, but at that time it was lagging a bit behind in tech and comfort. If you don't have a spare you must have a hybrid?

    I have 22 Limited AWD ICE. I love everything about the car but the gas milage. I usually get around 23-24 mpg driving in the city. I haven't gotten a chance to go on a road trip yet, so I can't really comment on that. Also, the door lock sensors sometimes don't work, I'm not sure if it's just my car. I always have a hard time trying to get it locked by placing my fingers over the sensor.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice. My Tucson gets great mileage on trips around 30, but only about 23-25 in daily mixed driving. What were you hoping for mileage wise? The hybrid seems like the way to go.

    • @Ricky-mo6mv
      @Ricky-mo6mv 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have the 23 Limited ICE AWD. The gas mileage certainly isn’t wonderful , but I had no option for a Hybrid. Those sell before they even hit the lot. I only have my Tucson because I got a crazy deal for a vehicle on the lot, and I wasn’t even really anticipating any of it. I got it for like $6,000 under MSRP, so I guess I shouldn’t fuss too much about the gas. When Trump gets back in office, it won’t really matter anyway.
      I also can’t seem to figure out my lock/unlock door sensors. It doesn’t seem to make any rhyme or reason. I just end up using my key fob button and avoid the embarrassment. 🤣🤣🤣. Otherwise, it’s an amazingly beautiful and luxurious vehicle that is a class above the competitors along with the Sportage. Love it!

      @Ricky-mo6mv I just figured out how to lock the car, and it works every time for me now. Just place one of your fingers on the indent on the door handle. Only your one finger, again nothing else of your hand should touch the handle. It should work for you.

    Why did you not get the Hybrid?

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Great question. Well it comes down to the dealership wanting to charge an ADM of about $5-9k depending on the hybrid model at the time. We were not going to pay more than MSRP. This was common in December of 22, but less common today.
