    I've spent the last 2 days catching up with your videos of the 1:200 Titanic build. It's amazing to me, how you have brought this extremely beautiful and iconic ship to life. When I saw you sailing it on the lake, it brought chills to me. I am a huge fan of the movie and it brought back some wonderful memories I had of the movie. I love this series. I'm looking forward to the remainder of this build series.

    love the detail in the B deck rooms on the aft part of the ship, well done, am liking the table and chairs, was wondering though how I would get my hands on some of the table & chairs though, as well as the deck coverings for smoking room, ala carte and the area in between and the aft grans staircase floor tiling .... all I can say though is a very WOW!! such detail.

    I understand mathematically what 1/200 scale means, but I didn't fully appreciate what it really looks like until I saw your fingers in the shot! 3/8" = 6'. Thanks for the great work!

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know! It’s strange isn’t it. But it still fools me sometimes too. I was ordering some plastic extrusion for the beams on the deck ceilings and was agonising about not being able to find 0.8mm I section. So I bought square section and then realised how ridiculous the whole issue was when I realised how small 0.8mm is anyway.
      It’s strange though because in some respects it’s a big model, but in many areas there are tiny bits, I guess it really hammers home the scale of titanic

    Hi Rob, great job for these chilly days we have had! I think some of you're waiters had been on the razz what with them falling over! Take a look at the White Swan at Alnwick web page for wood panelling details. Good work and brilliant close ups, well done mate! Meanwhile back on the Olympic I am steadily making slow progress with the hull cuts. I am about halfway with the corrections now, blaaa! You stay safe as things improve. Regards JH ;-)

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha sozzled waiters. That would add something to the ship!
      I have been to the white swan a few times actually. I grew up quite close to there so it was an interesting visit. I will mention it I think when I do the lounge.
      Glad to see you’re making progress with it. How will you redress the hull plating after?
      You too keep well!
      Rob

    • @johnnyhollis9977
      @johnnyhollis9977 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheModelBoatGuy Hi Rob Yeah the White Swan was a 5 hour road trip for me and I don't hang about! We stayed overnight and enjoyed the experience of eating in their Olympic restaurant. It was a good gig for our interest in ships and probably sent me down the path of building the 'Olympic' rather than her doomed sister! For the hull plating I have loads of plastic sheet card in stock which is the perfect gauge for the job. I have experience of doing this already when I built a wooden ship that had a copper clad hull. The plastic will of course cover all of the butchery that I have unleashed on the hull. The Scale the Titanic PE which I will modify will cover the upper hull so I will need to sand a lot of the existing detail off in that area too! I have tested the plastic sheeting which is very thin and it will work perfectly. I am trying to time getting the hull cutting and patching all done before the summer so that I can do the mega amount of sanding outside. Trying to do that inside the house would make me very unpopular and possibly an early execution would ensue! Take it easy, you appear to be on a roll at the moment! Take care JH ;-)

      I think there was a galley off from the a la carte near the funnel casing that serviced the restaurant. It is an impressive feet how they managed to cram all the crew areas in because when you look at the plans the lions share of the top decks is passenger areas!

      I will be doing more room, more of A deck certainly. And some stuff on the boat deck too.
      Defiantly grand staircases, probably the smoking rooms provided you can see through the windows

    I got kicked out of the Facebook group because the curator is an authoritarian prick, Then I just left facebook for the same reason. How can I get the furniture without being a part of that gnarly group of individuals????

      Hmm, I’m not sure about the furniture. The man I bought from had his own Facebook page (Amature 3D Printing). He comes across as a really kanny guy though. As far as I know he dosent have any association with the titanic Facebook group. I know you just got shot of fb but you could maybe reach out to him through a friend? Otherwise I’m not really sure I’m afraid, I don’t think he has a website
