This was the best video that i have seen for changing the bellow. Business's wanted 400 to 500 bucks to do this and with this video it was easy and flawless to do. Thank you for the time that you used to create this video.
A very big "thank you" to you, Steve! I replaced the door bellows on our LG WM2377C. Took me 3 hours. I took the time to vacuum and clean pretty much every thing I could reach. The most challenging part: fitting the bellows to the tub and reattaching the clamp... I used a bit of laundry detergent as you suggested and it helped. Again: thank you!
I watched several other vids which took short cuts to avoid taking off the front of the machine. After seeing your video, I knew it was the one to follow. Thanks from an ex Air Force aircraft tech of 24years.
I usually dont comment on videos but wanted to say this is the BEST how-to video I found on TH-cam. I just changed my LG WM9500HKA bellow. My washer is not common, so I was a little scared at first. But, an hr later the bellow is replaced! Thanks again!!
Excellent tutorial. Still works after 5 years. I tried one where the guy didn't remove the door. I could have saved a lot of swearing just by doing some more research. Thank you very much.
Thanks so much for this. I had a devil of a time reinstalling those spring clamps. I ended up using a woodworking bar clamp and reversing it to make a spreader. I affixed each end of the spring to the clamp with twisted wire and was able to expand the springs to my heart's content. After that they went on easy.
Fabulous instruction. Just did my bellow and it took....maybe 45 minutes. Just go slow. Take your time. Take pics of what you take apart so it goes back the same. Thanks tons!!
Thanks so much for the tip on how to reinstall the "locking ring with the spring" around the rubber bellow. I was struggling until I watched this video about using a set of pliers to pull the spring apart. That worked!
Perfect instructions, thank you! I just want to add that the hole in our gasket was from the tabs on the pinch type metal hose clamp rubbing against the gasket from underneath where the drainage hose is. We replaced that particular hose clamp with a screw turn hose clamp.
This is the best and most simple method shown here. I had looked up around 7 or 8 videos but every video had something missig or shown with complication. I had initially thought that putting the springs back up on rubber seal would be the most difficult part but the methods shown here made it to be one of easiest. I just did exactly how you had shown. I used a grip-plier and screw driver to put the spring back and it took me less than a minute. Thanks for the step by step method. I just had to spent the money to buy the replacement seal and then used your tutorial. :-)
Thank you very much. I watched this video twice before replacing mine. It took me a little more time but I got it done. Could not have done it without your video.
Thank you for this! I had to follow these instructions... not to replace the boot, but to remove the front panel of a Kenmore, as it was rusting like a cheap car down at bottom front of panel. I knew if I let it go, it would only progress like a cancer. Kenmore used to be a good product. This washer I have is only 5 years old, no leaks, so why it's rusting is a mystery; although the laundry room is damp.
Thank you Sir! Your method was very helpful. I previously performed the repair with the spring expander tool which was a disaster since it repeatedly slipped. The vice grips method is perfect.
Thank you for the video it helped with the disassemble and reassemble of machine. One thing that I found extremely handy that you failed to mention was to apply a small amount of detergent in the grove that fits around onto the outer tub. Trying to install "dry" is almost impossible. After applying detergent it practically fell into place. Thanks again.
I was catching hell trying to put it on dry also. I realized that there was a bottle of Shout that my wife uses on the laundry, just a little spray and wipe it all the way around definitely made a difference.
Thanks so much do this incredibly helpful video.... I had just assumed that this was like a simple (but big) gasket that could be replaced in about 5-10 minutes. But I had no idea that the rubber boot/door seal was connected to so many things, and that it replacing it required removal of the top of the machine, the soap drawer, the control panel and the front of the entire machine’, and that it involved disconnecting so many parts, seals and electrical connections! Thank goodness I watched your video before I bought the replacement boot...had I tried to do this on my own, despite being relatively handy with tools, I know I would have made it about 1/3 way through the process before I realized I had dome something terribly wrong - and then I’d be stuck with a partially disassembled machine machine, and I would have had to call for an expensive repairman while the family’s dirty clothes started piling up! (so basically, you saved me endless frustration and lots of money by trying to do this myself). I know this is not your typical “thank you” for an instructional video, but I’m honest enough to see when something is beyond my capabilities, and I would never had known this was so complicated had I not watched your video....so thank you SO MUCH! Cheers!
Great video! Very easy job, thank you! I like the background music as well, it perfectly fits to the peaceful atmosphere which is a must for the washing machine repairing😉
Great video. I'd suggest to completely remove the tiny hose that drains the bellow as well and run a 'Q' tip or equivalent through it - mine was 100% clogged with gunk so the new bellow wouldn't have been able to drain. Then when it's all finished, run a cycle with wash and main wash containers full of vinegar to help clear out any gunk still remaining in the system. And as others have mentioned, that sensor should be tie wrapped into place I would think.
Great great video Steve!!! Thank you very much!!! Wife is really happy now :) Best video period on TH-cam on how to Replace this gasket. Keep up the great videos!!!
thank you very much for posting this video, it was very helpful. i took my time took a couple of hours, switched out the inlet valves while I had the unit apart thanks again.
The wired "Sensor" you refer to on the top of the bellow is actually a light. I would refrain from using a screwdriver to pry between the two water inlets as that part is plastic and will break and you will spend another week or two awaiting a replacement. Finally I commend you on your "brute" strength in connecting the spring back together as that is extremely difficult and not easily accomplished by the majority.
19:30-19:45 is a useful tip; use the resistance of the wire being looped around the left side while you pull to the right to get the last remaining little bit. That’s way easier than trying to stretch the spring enough to get the whole perimeter around.
This tutorial is fantastic though after having done the repair I would recommend a couple of improvements. First, you absolutely should pay the $13 for the spring expansion tool. It makes getting the two spring clamps off and back on MUCH easier. It will save at least a dozen swear words and at least 3 skinned knuckles. Second, I think there should be a close up of the way the bellows is supposed to fit on the inner tub and later on how it is supposed to fit on the face of the machine. The bellow has several folds in it and it is easy to do it wrong. Other than that, the video was spot on.
What an epic video scared the crap outta me honestly but this video was perfect. Highly recommend the dish soap lubricant made a tough job literally a snap in place. Thanks so very much!
The hardest part of this operation is stretching the spring on the rear spring band over the hook. It requires more than two hands and is a nightmare. However, I worked out an easy method after ten minutes of swearing add there is s huge risk of puncturing the new gasket I have a box is assorted tension and compression springs. I found a tension spring of similar length with loop ends and lower spring rate. Hooked it over the loop and the hook. Then you can ease the while assembly into position as the spring is soft enough. Then when in location, your can easily stretch the other spring into position. I used a late of long needle nose aviation pliers. Once in position the second spring can be pulled or cut away.
great video. It's going to take me longer moving the washer in and out of it's cubbyhole than to do the repair. We do this why? Because we love our wives and we can't afford to pay someone else. Due largely to covid 19. I do think in future videos, if you were to interject a few more close up views would be helpful. Again, I really appreciate the video and the time you took to make it. Best..Bill
Found it much easier to put the boot back on the drum by first removing the top and bottom counterweights. This gives plenty of space for the hands and fingers to feel around and to snap the boot back up on the drum.
Sincere thanks for your video. I had to return to it a few times to make sure everything was done right. It also gave me cover if it went wrong, I can tell my wife to blame the guy on TH-cam.
Glad we were able to help with your Washer(and give you cover if something goes wrong- although Steve's instructions are usually enough to get the job done right!). Good luck with the rest of your repair!
Actually, I spoke too soon. The outer spring seal was even harder and it isn't possible to use the trick I mentioned with the extra spring for fitting. In the absence of the lg tool availability I improvised with a large pair of engineer's scribing calipers. First I filed off the sharp points as I didn't want to puncture the new door gasket. I was then able to use the calipers to pull the spring linearly from both ends at the same time to get it over the edge without pulling it off the case rim. If I was doing it again I'd buy a large pair of external circlip pliers. Overall the job was easy though and this video very helpful.
Hello and thank you for the video! Before I do all this I want to know f the screws are the same size or do I need to keep them in order to put the exact ones back where I took them out of?
My old gasket has two addition water inlet hoses at about 3 and 9 oclcok. That gasket has been discontinued. What do I do with those two extra hoses? They come from the pump at the bottom.
The boot seal I ordered was missing the rubber sleeve where the vent tube goes into. They must have cut it off. I tried to rig it up but I’m not 100% sure the tube will stay in there. This is so irritating.
Does putting the spring part of the outer clamp in the 6 o clock position help prevent a leak from the seal in that area? I just replaced the bellow on my washer and still get a small leak from the bottom of the door during the wash cycle when water is essentially pouring directly onto the seal in the 6 o clock position. I can look in and see the seal folding over slightly with the water pouring on it, I wonder if I rotate the spring clamp so the spring is in the groove at 6 o clock perhaps the body of the spring itself will fill that groove out more and keep the seal from folding over and causing a leak
I am stuck at the moment where the bellow should be attached to the drum, and I'm not getting any further, spent a long time trying. No matter what I try the thing will not fit, it's like I would need 4 hands to finish that part. I can't even get the outer lip to fit all around, it's like the bellows is too small. It constantly slides off when I try to fit the last part of it. I have checked the size of the new bellow with the old one and they are the same. What am I doing wrong? Please help me, I am going insane over this. 😟
thanks for this wonderful video, I changed my bellow by watching it 3 times. I think you missed one small step, not sure if it is important, on the sensor, there is a zip tie to lock and tighten the sensor to the rubber bellow to make it water sealed. you didn't do it, so i didn't do it either, will it cause leak in the future ? anyone has detect any leak problem by not using zip tie ? thanks
@FSBballer it has been 8 month now, no leak, i used some silicon to glue it just to double make sure , if you want make a cut or hole , make smaller first , the rubber is really flexible.
I wish I would have watched this video before trying the 'easy' way to replace it without disassembling the unit, getting extremely frustrated because I couldn't get the spring to attach to the O ring, then end up calling a service technician to finish the job for me...

I watched many different videos to fix this problem. This sweet man is BY FAR the best and most descriptive! 10/10.
😂🎉good
This guy knows what he’s doing. He shows work-arounds using common dyi tools instead of special hard to find ones. Fixed my LG door gasket.

Your use of the lock pliers to pull the holding wire into place is terrific and it works!!!!
Excellent tutorial. Still works after 5 years. I tried one where the guy didn't remove the door. I could have saved a lot of swearing just by doing some more research. Thank you very much.

Thank you for demonstrating how to do this without using a spring expansion tool.
Get the damn tool. It's like $12 on Amazon. Sad to say, I wasn't strong enough to do it without one and I'm freakishly strong...for a female.
Thank you for this! I had to follow these instructions... not to replace the boot, but to remove the front panel of a Kenmore, as it was rusting like a cheap car down at bottom front of panel. Who thumbed this video down? It's perfect!

(the hint about using liquid soap to help install the bellow was particularly helpful)
Great video! Very easy job, thank you! I like the background music as well, it perfectly fits to the peaceful atmosphere which is a must for the washing machine repairing😉
Thank you so much for creating and posting this video. I was able to replace the bellow myself yesterday by following along.

Best video period on TH-cam on how to Replace this gasket.
Keep up the great videos!!!
THANK YOU STEVE, You are a Great Teacher.
This was very helpful. The trick was also listening to the backing track to stop swearing doing that.
Thanks Steve for this video, really helpful to be able to do a bit DIY. Especially there is no special tools needed which really handy.
thank you very much for posting this video, it was very helpful. i took my time took a couple of hours, switched out the inlet valves while I had the unit apart thanks again.
thank you - used this video to replace the bellow - very helpful. better than all other videos on this topic
THANK YOU 14:02 IS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
Very helpful and detailed video. I couldn't have done it without it and probably saved me $200.00
OMG! Your video made all the difference. Used another video and it caused me to get the seal wrong. Thank you so much.
Thanks for your video, I was able to replace this part.
Thank you for the video, it was a great help. I still needed to purchase the spring extension tool to complete the assembly.
Spot on. Great presentation but that seal was a pain in the but.
Thank you for all the details. I was able to do this today.
Amazing Video! You are very complete and love those captions! Thank you so much!
thank you for this very informative video. Helped me no end to fix my LG. Great job Steve.
This was a great video! So clear and detailed. Thank you!
Great instructional video thanks

Thank you sooooooo much! Your video helped me replace the bellies without spending more than I paid for the washer!!!

Hey Steve, how about sending me that brand new seal you just replaced? LOL
This was really helpful, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, This helped me greatly!!! 👍
What an epic video scared the crap outta me honestly but this video was perfect. Highly recommend the dish soap lubricant made a tough job literally a snap in place. Thanks so very much!
Thanks for the video, you made it look so simple. Enjoyed it.
Gracias, Maestro. As they say, you are the Man!
Bruh what? this is insane how much work goes into changing a rubber ring.
Great vid that helped me get the job done.

This made it so much easier, thank you! Too bad I didn't find this before I split my knuckle open... ;)
Thank you! Another DIY project complete, thanks to you.
Thank you very much for video. It help me fit my washer i save a lot thank you
Great Video. Please post a warning about the razor sharp edges on back sides of the front door panel. I cut two fingers when lifting off.
Steve you are the best!!!
very easy, thank you so much 🤗
Just what I needed! Thanks!!
This video help me alot because its the same exact one... and thats what i needed to replace too.
Thanks....i was able to do the repair with half the swearing I would normally do.
Very well made video and very informative and thorough. Thanks
Thank you for doing this!!! A real money saver!!
We're glad it was helpful and could save you some money! Thanks for watching!

thanks for your video. super helpful.
Great video. Good thing I have my binoculars so I could see what you were doing. 🙄

The bellows can be replaced with the machine intact- using an expander plier, to save time

thank you sir! saved my ass!
Lmao. Your lucky! I had to replace the PCB in mine 3 times 😒
I wish I would have watched this video before trying the 'easy' way to replace it without disassembling the unit, getting extremely frustrated because I couldn't get the spring to attach to the O ring, then end up calling a service technician to finish the job for me...
Camera needs to be a lot closer to show what he is actually doing.
And deleting the music would be a great improvement !
mine started making a burning smell and then made a few knocks.. this is the first time ive heard anything from it. What's the cause?
Ever figure it out? Just followed this to swap mine and have the same now - a burning rubber/plastic smell and some knocking. The drum rubbing against the new bellow?
Sir, I am unable to open the front cover of LG Front Loading Washing Machine Model No F1496TDP24

This is not the machine that I put the serial number in for.
