Perfect video, great information clearly presented. And I can plie on to the other comments: 1. AGREED: Get The Pliers!, why struggle and damage your new gasket? 2. AGREED: Clean the hose! - mine was plugged worse than shown in your video. 3. Also, look for the other videos on cleaning the water filter. I had never cleaned mine, it's easy, and mine was FULL of linty goop. 4. If you have a small hole in your boot and you need a fix for a couple of days while your new boot ships, I actually had success with a bike tube patch. Dry the area, clean as well as possible and follow the bike tube repair kit instructions. The real kind with the glue. This worked for me for a week of wash, but the hole was only about 1/4". 5. Last but not least - if you are feeling lucky...I decided to try replacing the boot without taking the front off the washer. I used a slat of scrap trim about 3/8' thick and 2" wide, maybe 14" long to gently wedge the drum over to one side or the other to install the boot and inner spring. This was not that hard, the drum is suspended and it has a lot of flex in there. You really need to be sure to get the inner spring in the groove properly, feel around the whole diameter and press it into the grove. Don't try it without the pliers. I would not try this unless I had lots of experience as a technician on other stuff. But it went very well, did not require more tools, and made the job very quick. My washer is pretty much built into the area, so I was really motivated to avoid pulling it out. If you have space, just pull it out and do it like the video shows. The instructions are great. THANKS!
I had no idea where to start, but after watching this video, I was able to successfully replace the rubber boot. I found this video, very thorough, and very easy to understand.
In terms of clarity of explanation this is one of the best U-Tube HOW TO Video's I have ever seen! Thanks. Yes, our gasket drain hose was plugged up. I managed to clean get to it and clean it by just removing the front gasket spring and lifting gasket up at the drain hose to removed the hose. Getting the hose clamps off, hose loose at both ends, and putting them back was the hardest part. Thanks for posting this video!
Probably the best video I have found for this door seal. Straight to the relevant points, clear description, great video well edited, no dogs, no kids, no annoying wacky background music …(already have all that….😎) Last but not least the great tip about cleaning the tubes and making sure the bottom drain tube is not blocked…this is clearly the main cause of the stinky moldy sludge which collects at the bottom and rots because it does not drain. If these are cleaned regularly I doubt that the door seal will ever have to be replaced again.!!PERFECT!
My husband and I tackled this repair - our first-ever appliance repair on our own - and we nailed it! Thank you for your terrific video! We're so proud of ourselves and very grateful to have saved the money!
You’re a life saver! I pulled mine apart and soaked my rubber seal (it had a bad case of black mold). Putting it all back together was the tricky part though and people had their doubts I could do it. It was only thanks to your little extra tips that I managed to do it. Eg. the way you showed how to put the springs back on by closing the spring circle first and fitting as much of the spring as you can in the groove, then using which ever loops necessary and pushing the spring circle into the groove as you stretch it with the special (and cheap) tool. I’m so happy to be rid of that mold and to have done it myself. Thanks so very much! Ps. Congrats to my fellow independent women who got this done.
Your one of the few people who focused on the drain. I looked at mine and both the little white piece and the rubber black elbow is completely plugged. Well done.
This is the best video for this job. Clear camera angles, clear explanation. Good lighting and sound. Good tips. Patient and meticulous. And it does both the tear down and build back up. Saved a bunch of money doing it myself, and was confident because of your lead. Thank you!
We were having leaks under front of washer. Watched your video and found out about the drain hole in the bottom of the seal/gasket and the tube that connects it to the drain system. Our gasket drain hole was plugged with lint. I used a turkey baster to squirt water into it. At first it wouldn't go. I couldn't force any water through the drain hole, then all of a sudden it was open. I squeezed a cup of hot water through the hole and ran a couple test loads .... NO MORE LEAKS! I never would have figured this out without your video. MANY THANKS. Another helpful idea .... put the washer "feet" up on short pieces of 2x4 so you can see under it and see where leaks are coming from.
I replaced the gasket yesterday and for the bigger spring I used the soap trick, using it as lube all around and on the wire itself, and made the spring slide over the lip a bit easier after struggling for a while. Great video and a big help!
Thank you for sharing. My husband screwed up big time and broke a ring. Claimed the pieces aren’t needed anyway 😂. Machine leaks a LOT now. I’ll be fixing it when he’s at work.
3 yrs later and this was great help with superb explanation. Only modification I suggest is putting back the first ring, unhook it because it’s much easier to then stretch the spring and clip in. My washer is a newer model and had two hoses on each side. Otherwise perfect.
Great video. Gave me the confidence to tackle this one. I had some minor differences in the configuration but it was easy to figure out. It took me 2-1/2 hours and putting the rear spring on was the most difficult part. Thank you!
Have a newer model LG (WM4000HWA). Tried to wash a feather bed. Now have first hand knowledge why you don't ignore a washer's max capacity. Destroyed both featherbed and door boot gasket. Too embarrassed to call repairman so we found your video. I can count the number of DIY projects we've done on two hands over our 25 year marriage. Your video was awesome. We bought the tool (hubby ran out of underwear waiting for it - he looks good commando, so no harm there). Our gasket was also more specialized than yours so I'm glad we purchased the specific part for our model number. Nothing generic would have worked. For anyone who has our model number, there is an additional drainage pipe that attaches in multiple places on the boot (looks a little like a goal post surrounding the gasket). We also have weights attached to the front of the washer drum that tightly frame the gasket. If you have our model number, you can follow this video all the way to where you begin putting the new one on. At that point, put the gasket on first and tighten with spring. Then remove the weights from the drum (you can put them in the drum to keep it weighted). Then attach the drainage pipe (be sure to align the tubes at the bottom) before reattaching the weights. Don't try to do this with the weights on the drum - your knuckles will hate you and you'll just have to do it anyway.
Wow great job I’m glad you got it figured out!! Shipping nowadays. Oh well who needs underwear anyways 😂 I’m glad it all worked out. Thanks for letting me know!
This is the best point by point instructional for this job on the internet. I followed his directions and attained success on my first go around. Since I manage a large apartment community which furnishes these washers in every home, i was excited to find this easy step by step tutorial since I will have to utilize it frequently.
Great video. Mission accomplished in under 3hrs. Very helpful to have an extra person for the inner spring clamp to help align everything while other person just holds clamp to remove tension. My in-laws think I'm and amazing repairman now. 😅 One important note when putting the seal back on: Do not try to put it on the metal drum that spins. It goes in the plastic(?) protruded ring that does not spin.
Extremely helpful video, I was having same problem. I ordered rubber seal and pliers which I highly recommend. I installed it with my son in two hours. Saved $200, thank you so much!
I fix my washer machine and it took me less than 10min after I watched this video well done for explaining very easy. I was trying for about 1hour the ring kept coming off. I wished I watched this earlier.
Many thanks! I reached to this guide due to very nasty stains on the children clothing. Apparently my seal was very dirty, so I ended up cleaning it without taking it off, but you tip about the clogged drain pipe was spot on! That was 99% clogged and more than likely the probable root cause. Gave it nice cleaning with pipe cleaner, does the job pretty well. Excellent guide.
I just stumbled on your video honestly not sure how I got here sure glad I did! Showed my husband he and I are going to order the seal and tool soon. The DIY crafter in me says periodically run a folded pipe cleaner or zip tie down the drain hole prevent the lint build up or gently use a pair on skinny tweezers. In our case it's lint and dog hair. THANK YOU for saving us a repair bill.
Great Video.... One comment - I spent 3/4 of the time trying to get the rear spring back on. What worked for me was to remove the bottom weight bank (curved plastic looking thing with four bolts below the door opening). This helped a lot. Definitely need the spring tool!
It took me good 30 min to put on the rear spring. Taking out the plastic weight helped alot. Be careful when you take out the weight as it weighs quite a bit and may hurt your foot.
Great video. I did it today. Little challenge to place back spring but made it with my friends help. Total time take. 3 hours. Appreciated your time and efforts and already a subscriber. Thanks once again for a detailed video without any music or family features 😂
Thank you so much for this video! With your help, I knocked this out in about 2.5 hours. My kenmore elite has extra sprayers at the top and sides which wasn’t shown in this video but it just meant extra clamps and tubes to take off and on. You suggesting the dish soap for lubricating the boot was a life saver for sure! Thanks again!
Overall great video! I purchased the spring removal tool for the inner (more difficult) door boot seal. At 8:30, the lower loop was not completely closed, even though I used needle nosed pliers to try to close the gap, so the pin of the tool kept popping past, making the spring removal tool ineffective. I ended up opening the inner spring by unhooking it, so it was no longer a continuous circle and then used zip ties and a helper to reconnect the inner spring into a continuous circle. I then figured I might as well use zip ties on the outer spring so I could truthfully tell the seller I did not use the newly purchased spring tool and get a refund. I'll admit that the spring tool would have worked perfectly on my outer spring.
I don't have the tool and need my washing machine to work today - I'm about to zip tie both of mine too. Fingers crossed! I zip tied the outer ring two years ago and it worked perfectly!
I had the same experience with the lower loop on the retainer wire bending. The spring stretching tool bent the wire to the point that the tool tip slipped through the loop. I used a vise to bend the wire into a tight loop. I also used a grinder to make the tongs on the tool smaller. Doing that made it easier to put the tong in the loop that holds the spring. Other than that, things went smoothly. Thanks for a great video!
Thanks for sharing sir!! This was very helpful. Just a heads up for folks with Kenmore elite- there are 30 odd bolts even in the front underneath which you gotta remove by leaning the washer to the back so that you could access the nuts, and there aren’t 2 springs to support the boot- the outer small one and there is a round steel band that goes around with a screw on it which you gotta unscrew so that it loosens and u can take it out with the boot!! Takes time but worth the try 😊
Thank you for making this excellent video! I don’t think many people know how dangerous black mold anywhere can be. The process was very well shown and explained. Thanks again for saving me some dough!
OMG - you just convinced me I need to call someone in to do this for me. I have neither the tools, but more importantly, nor the patience! But a great video. Thank you.
Ok, I just did this. Amazon dropped the pliers and gasket at 8:30 and 10:00 I'm running a test load - all good. I could have been done in an hour, but I spent a lot of time cleaning mold out of the machine, especially around the soap tray. Get the pliers - they are around $13 now (Dec '22). Buy the ones advertised with the 5-inch spread - I saw some comments on Amazon that the smaller ones didn't open wide enough. The original LG pliers are also available for $50 - $75. Buy the cheap ones. Soap for mounting the inner seal worked great. I spent more time reassembling the cabinet than working on the gasket. I didn't use soap on the outer seal for assembly. For the pliers on the inner seal, get a substantial zip tie and zip the handles together. One person suggested doing the same with vise grips. I tried both... Use the zip ties. In the future, I'll probably pull the outer band off and clean out the little hose/drain at the bottom. I had dog hair and lint blocking the tube and I'm sure I will again. Lastly, to Smart Easy DIY - thank you for not only helping myself and others with this task, but for putting together what is probably one of the best filmed, narrated and produced DIY video on TH-cam. This should be a how-to for others making videos.
Great video - thorough and simple. And like everybody else - I have a new tool. BTW - like others - cleaning out the drain tube was probably the source of my leak - but since I had the new seal and everything opened up, I did the entire job. Thanks again!
Just used this vid for great step by step instructions to replace the door seal on my washer tonight. Definitely get the pliers that are recommended. I didn’t have them and had to use automotive drum tools and my son to get the rings on.
I have a different model LG but found this video very useful in accessing the blocked drain under the tub. After cleaning the tub I noticed a small cut. Ordered and replaced the tub so this video was helpful of two separate occasions. Thanks for making this!
Excellent DIY video. I found a couple slight differences with my 5 year old machine but the step by step instructions (and the < $14 tool) gave me the "tricks of the trade" I needed to knock this repair out this morning. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Great video, I have had an LG since 2006 with zero issues and although mine is slightly different I will look for this drain and blow some compressed air through this tube. I think you could have successfully cleaned the old gasket but no issue with replacing it. It is amazing though how long these washers and dryers still last today. Very little planned obsolescence as with allot of the things we purchase. Makes sense that the is there and I'm glad you brought it to our attention.
Hey curiosity good to hear from you!! Been a while. My wife tried to clean it and she really wasn’t able to get it well enough to get it to quit stinking so we just decided to swap it out. I’m glad you’ve have good luck with your overall! Thanks for the comment. 👊
I looked down the drain hole with a small flashlight. There appeared to be an obstruction. I poked around with an unfurled paper clip and then I took a needle nose pliers to grab the obstruction. It turns out that the obstruction was Phillips head that might attach to a drill. Now, the water drains per my test. I learned about the drain hole and tubing by watching this video. Thanks.
Our door seal has recently had water pooling in the gap, but I wasn't aware that there was a drain in that location. I wouldn't be surprised if it is clogged like this, so this is definitely helpful just to narrow down the source of my issue. I bought my washer used several years ago, and had to replace the drain pump already. I thought it also had a bad intake valve, but it turned out that one of the wires just wasn't clipped in place all the way. Otherwise, it has been pretty reliable and fairly easy to repair.
Awesome video, thanks! My model was a little different with 4 hoses coming out of the boot seal (top, left, right and bottom) and a plastic cuff that goes through the boot to seat the hose at the top. But this video was all I needed to get complete the replacement. One tip that might help people: my spring pliers did not fit in the ends of the spring. I tried using them in the ends of the wire but they pushed their way through the bend in the wire. I eventually got it to work by putting a zip tie through the end of the spring and using the pliers in the zip tie to stretch the spring. I also had difficulty removing the plastic door alarm clip so waited until I had the door off to pull it out. Thanks!!
Super helpful. I have an LG tromm and this worked. Unfortunately the rear spring was tough for me to put back on. I had the tool but the right connection point kept slipping and out of the eyelet due to how it is constructed. I ended up flipping the spring around and then getting and extra had to hold it open while I bullrushed the thing on. Worked but my finger nails are torn up. Again this is more an issue of my spring construction. One of the best videos for this repair. Thanks for the share.
Thanks for the good video and info!! Tool - $11 Amazon, There are 4 inlets on my version, at 12-3-6-9 o'clock (all were disgusting). The inner section / groove needs to be cleaned well with a plastic brush / tooth brush works. I used Clorox household cleaner. 1.5 hours
I have never said this about a “how to” video before: THIS is the best made “ how to “ video (on ANYTHING) I’ve ever seen. All terrible videos should be linked to this one as the standard on THIS is how it’s DONE SON! 😁
thanks I just fixed the leak looking inside the seal and the draining whole was full of hair and by clearing the draining whole in side the door seal there is no leak any longer. thank you thank
Thanks for the nice video. To clean out that elbow underneath the seal (without having to remove the seal) I use a thin, long zip-ty as a snake. It fits into the drain hole in the seal and is flexible enough to work its way through the 90 degree elbow without causing damage to any part. I usually rotate the snake a few times to make sure all the gunk and pet hair are getting mashed up and moved into the larger section of pipe.
Awesome steo by step description! Made quick work of this job. Even easier than fumbling with the door safety switch I just unscrewed the switch from the front and let the assembly hang. Thanks so much for such a thorough job of describing this job!
Great video. Thank you very much. Saved me a few hundred dollars. Unfortunately, our washer still smells bad, and we can't figure out what's causing it.
Super helpful video. Worked for me. However, i found that the spring stretcher didnt stretch the inside spring enough to put it on. I found it easier to take the spring off the clamp wire, install the clamp on the gasket, then install the spring back on the clamp. I also used an extra piece of wire to hold the clamp tightly in place while i attached the spring.
I used a 6" needle nose pliers and a screw driver. no special tool needed and it was super easy. i only needed to take off the front to replace the door locker. had it done in 5 minutes.
Great video. My Kenmore had 4 hose connections and I had to reuse a plastic sprayer that was attached at the top. But everything else was dead on. Also, I replaced the door “switch assembly, locker” as well since it was open and we were having intermittent problems.
Thank you for the great video and simple explanation. I’ve been wanting to replace the door seal on my Kenmore washer and wasn’t sure how difficult it would be. Looks pretty straight forward. I’m going to order the tools and go for it!
Great video, but this took me about 5 hours. Getting the rear spring on took possibly half that time and I was on the point of giving up - and turning the air blue - when I decided to try again the next day. I’m pleased I did this, but I think next time I will get an appliance professional in to do it.
Great video and thank you. Huge caution, don’t buy the offbrand boot, get the OEM LG one. Thought I would save a couple dollars but failed when the boot didn’t seat well no matter what I tried. Got the LG one and it fit perfect. Small difference even in how it shipped. The offbrand was folded up in a small box (could have contributed to problem) whereas the LG came packed flat in a larger box with cardboard helping keep its form.
Great video. I don't have the exact same washer but this video fills me with enough confidence that it will be a similar process and that I will be able to do it.
You earned a sub, I am needing to replace this seal on my Kenmore and I would have known I needed that tool to make it easier, your video is precise and very well made not just thrown out here like most,, do this do that ok done.
I looked at SO many videos trying to get this done. I very much appreciate yours. It is just easy to understand and follow. My issue is that my hoses are so different and life took me away from this project 2 weeks after dismantling it. I have the drain hose on the bottom, one hose on each side (3 & 9 o'clock) and one at the top. I can't figure out which to cap and which to connect. Do you know where to find such information? Thank you for the wonderful tutorial!
Great video - did it myself. YES get the pliers - I could get the springs off with plyers but there's no way I could have gotten them back on without the spring removal tool. Helped for me to put the outside spring back on by routing the top first and using the tool to loop it around the bottom.
I took it off with my hands in about 1 second and I cant imagine it taking longer than 5 to put back on. A child could work the spring in my dryer. I can't imagine an adult needing a tool for this.
Thank you! We were told $90 an hr for a tech to fix it and if they sell you the part it’s a big upcharge. They said it’s best if we buy our own part even if they install it cuz we’d save a lot. I decided to save some money and do it myself since it was pretty straight forward. Thanks
1 important step (maybe): the two weights can be removed with a 10mm socket so that it’s easier to take off and put on the seal in the back. You did it without removing the weights, but I’m sure it was a little harder to fiddle with the seal.
I love the methods, tips and tricks. great video! (And here I was thinking I could just replace that seal without taking everything apart.) Thanks for schooling me!
Just did this repair and it was a bear getting the inner gasket retainer installed. The tool would not fit into the lower spring loop. So I used a couple of zip ties to make a place to hook the tool. Of course the zip ties stretched a bit under tension. It is a bit tricky to hold the tool with one hand and seat the retainer around the gasket with the other hand while the Mrs holds the flashlight.... Otherwise it's a straight forward repair.
Sorry you had the trouble with that Spring. So yours didn’t fit in that loop like mine did? Sounds like you improvised and got the job done though. Good job!
The drawer at the top left corner is full of water. Is that indicative of an additional problem? (Mom's washer is leaking and the door gasket is definitely nasty and will replace it too).
Some models if it’s the fabric softener compartment, there’s always some water supposed to be in there talking to a tech, with the detergent is, that’s not supposed to have any when the cycle is done.
well instructed video, congrats. mine machine wobbles with a loud thud settling sound during the end of spin cycle. i believe it could be shock absorbers. do you a video on it.
Hey Great video, ours isn't leaking but it's not draining and smells. Will be doing this as soon as the parts come in. Thanks for the tips and things to look out for.
Do we have to return the retainer ring? I’m not able to fit it back in even with the tool. I know people mentioned zip ties but I don’t have those nor know to use them. It seems like the ring is not important because the rubber seal is in place even without it
I’m not quite sure what you mean by return, as in putting it back in place? I think it should go back on. Not sure why your tool isn’t doing it. Mine seemed to have plenty of reach to get it back on. Make sure your seal is in place for sure and that you’re ring is in the right spot cuz that can make a difference sometimes.
Thank you for the great video. It was easy to follow and I replaced the bellow easily. I did not have the tool so that part was a lot more difficult (everyone should buy the tool if doing this replacement!).
Having issues with the inner spring ring. The main loop on the ring, not the spring, keeps bending when using the spring expander, causing it to slip off. Any suggestions?
Sorry for the silly question, I'm wondering why you unplugged the safety switch? Can the machine just be unplugged and leave the safety switch plugged in?
I have been struggling for an hour to get the big spring back on. I have the tool and it is still very difficult. I have taken a break to read comments here and have no idea what I am doing wrong. Also, the boot was very hard to get on. This has taken me over 3 hours so far and it has been the boot and the spring that have been the hardest.
Yeah I have same issue with the tool as well. For some reason I had trouble wedging into the hole on the open ended wire connection to spring using that tool. I kind of pulled it off once it is slightly loose but I'm not looking forward to putting it back in later 😂 that's a problem for tomorrow
I believe someone in the comments said it was. It seems like it would be a lot harder to disassemble the front pieces but I don’t actually know. If mine fails again someday I’ll have to experiment.
To have to take off all that stuff to replace the rubber gasket…. It reminds me of the Ford Pinto where you had to drop the engine to replace the leaky main seal. Who designs these things? Accountants? I have an older model which doesnt include the easy access panel to seevice the filter. I wonder if I could get a new panel with the access door and have it align.
Yes I have heard things about the pinto. lol I know what you mean. I’m guessing the panels aren’t interchangeable with an older model but I don’t know that for sure. You can check it out for sure.
Perfect video, great information clearly presented. And I can plie on to the other comments:
THANKS!
Awesome great job! Thanks for sharing the tips!

In terms of clarity of explanation this is one of the best U-Tube HOW TO Video's I have ever seen! Thanks. Yes, our gasket drain hose was plugged up.
Oh well who needs underwear anyways 😂
I’m glad it all worked out. Thanks for letting me know!
This is the best point by point instructional for this job on the internet. I followed his directions and attained success on my first go around. Since I manage a large apartment community which furnishes these washers in every home, i was excited to find this easy step by step tutorial since I will have to utilize it frequently.
Thank you I appreciate that. I’m glad it helped! Good luck with your future repairs. 😁
Great video. Mission accomplished in under 3hrs. Very helpful to have an extra person for the inner spring clamp to help align everything while other person just holds clamp to remove tension. My in-laws think I'm and amazing repairman now. 😅
One important note when putting the seal back on: Do not try to put it on the metal drum that spins. It goes in the plastic(?) protruded ring that does not spin.
Awesome great job! It’s always good to score points with the in-laws! 😁👍🏻
Extremely helpful video, I was having same problem. I ordered rubber seal and pliers which I highly recommend. I installed it with my son in two hours. Saved $200, thank you so much!
Awesome I’m so glad it was helpful thanks for letting me know and great job fixing it!!!
I fix my washer machine and it took me less than 10min after I watched this video well done for explaining very easy.
I was trying for about 1hour the ring kept coming off.
I wished I watched this earlier.
Awesome I’m glad you got it!
Awesome I’m glad it helped! Thanks for letting me know.
Yes those are good ideas for sure. Thank you I’m glad if you found it helpful! Good luck with replacing yours. I’m sure you’ll do fine. 😊
Great Video.... One comment - I spent 3/4 of the time trying to get the rear spring back on. What worked for me was to remove the bottom weight bank (curved plastic looking thing with four bolts below the door opening). This helped a lot. Definitely need the spring tool!
Thank you! And thanks for sharing your experience with the rest of us. Good job getting it done!
It took me good 30 min to put on the rear spring. Taking out the plastic weight helped alot. Be careful when you take out the weight as it weighs quite a bit and may hurt your foot.
Same
Great video. I did it today. Little challenge to place back spring but made it with my friends help. Total time take. 3 hours. Appreciated your time and efforts and already a subscriber. Thanks once again for a detailed video without any music or family features 😂
Haha thanks. I’m glad you got it with some patience, great job!
Thank you! Yes, mine didn’t have those but I’m glad you figured it out OK. Nicely done.
Wow, OK thanks for the input. I’m glad you got it.
I don't have the tool and need my washing machine to work today - I'm about to zip tie both of mine too. Fingers crossed! I zip tied the outer ring two years ago and it worked perfectly!
Awesome I hope it works for you!
@daytriprrr2533 I’m glad you got it!
By far the best how-to vid I've seen on TH-cam - appreciate you taking the time to inform a bunch of random folks on how to do this! A+A+
Thank you! I’m glad it helped.
You’re welcome. Thanks for sharing your experience with the elite series. 👍👊
@@SmartEasyDIYer ofkors 😊
Thank you for making this excellent video! I don’t think many people know how dangerous black mold anywhere can be. The process was very well shown and explained. Thanks again for saving me some dough!
Thank you I appreciate it!
OMG - you just convinced me I need to call someone in to do this for me. I have neither the tools, but more importantly, nor the patience! But a great video. Thank you.
Thank you well I’m glad at least you know! 😁
Thank you so much. I appreciate you sharing your experience and tips with others.!
Great video - thorough and simple.
And like everybody else - I have a new tool.
BTW - like others - cleaning out the drain tube was probably the source of my leak - but since I had the new seal and everything opened up, I did the entire job.
Thanks again!
Great job! I’m glad that helped thanks for letting me know.
Just used this vid for great step by step instructions to replace the door seal on my washer tonight. Definitely get the pliers that are recommended. I didn’t have them and had to use automotive drum tools and my son to get the rings on.
Thank you! I’m glad you got it figured out. Thanks for sharing your experience.
This video is fantastic.
Well explained.
Super useful.
Saved a few hundred bucks and paying a service technician.
Thank you!
Thank you I appreciate you letting me know!!
I have a different model LG but found this video very useful in accessing the blocked drain under the tub. After cleaning the tub I noticed a small cut. Ordered and replaced the tub so this video was helpful of two separate occasions. Thanks for making this!
Awesome thanks for letting me know!
Excellent DIY video. I found a couple slight differences with my 5 year old machine but the step by step instructions (and the < $14 tool) gave me the "tricks of the trade" I needed to knock this repair out this morning. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you so much I really appreciate the feedback! I’m glad you got it done OK even if yours was slightly different.
Thanks.
Ok nice job I’m glad you got it figured out! Thanks
Yes ours has been quite reliable too. Yes it sounds like the drain could be clogged. Good luck with yours.
Thanks!!
Awesome nicely done! I’m glad you figured yours out even though it was a little different. Thanks for sharing your experience with others.
Thanks. I’m glad you got it figured out! Good job!!
1.5 hours
You’re welcome great job!
I have never said this about a “how to” video before:
THIS is the best made “ how to “ video (on ANYTHING) I’ve ever seen.
All terrible videos should be linked to this one as the standard on THIS is how it’s DONE SON! 😁
Wow thank you so much I appreciate the feedback!! I’m glad it was helpful. 😊
❤Things are easy and simple. We do regular cleaning every month
That’s great!
thanks I just fixed the leak looking inside the seal and the draining whole was full of hair and by clearing the draining whole in side the door seal there is no leak any longer.
thank you thank
Wow great I’m glad that fixed it!
Took me about 3 hrs….completely worth it! Thank you!
Awesome great job!
Thanks for sharing your tips!!
Awesome steo by step description! Made quick work of this job. Even easier than fumbling with the door safety switch I just unscrewed the switch from the front and let the assembly hang. Thanks so much for such a thorough job of describing this job!
Thank you for the feedback!
Thanks! Excellent camera work, easy to follow. Saved us a repair call, and we have a new tool!
Thank you so much I appreciate the support! I’m glad it worked out good for you. 😁👍
Great video. Thank you very much. Saved me a few hundred dollars. Unfortunately, our washer still smells bad, and we can't figure out what's causing it.
You're welcome! Maybe now that you’ve got that taken care of once you do a few cycles it’ll help.
Thank you! Glad it helped. Thanks for sharing your experience with others too.
A small plate must be placed when opening the overflow hose in order to maintain the cleanliness of the place ❤
That could help for sure. Depends how much yours has in it. I don’t think mine had much.
I used a 6" needle nose pliers and a screw driver. no special tool needed and it was super easy.
i only needed to take off the front to replace the door locker. had it done in 5 minutes.
Nicely done!
Thanks for this, you saved me a lot. I followed the instructions. The black holes connected to the filter busted. Got it at auto zone. Done
Wow awesome great job! Thanks for letting me know.
Great video. My Kenmore had 4 hose connections and I had to reuse a plastic sprayer that was attached at the top. But everything else was dead on. Also, I replaced the door “switch assembly, locker” as well since it was open and we were having intermittent problems.
Thanks I’m glad it helped. Nicely done!
Thanks for your video it's gonna be so helpful fixing my washer. This is the best tutorial video that i have watched. Thanks again
You’re welcome! Good luck with it.
Thank you for the great video and simple explanation. I’ve been wanting to replace the door seal on my Kenmore washer and wasn’t sure how difficult it would be. Looks pretty straight forward. I’m going to order the tools and go for it!
Go for it I’m sure you’ll do fine! Thanks for letting me know. 😊
Nice to meet you
Great video!
Step-by-step, very clear. I didn’t have the specialty pliers so it went slower for me. Other than that, excellent job!
Awesome thanks I’m glad it helped. 👍
Did it in less than 2 hours thanks to this video!
Very cool! Nice job.
Great video, but this took me about 5 hours. Getting the rear spring on took possibly half that time and I was on the point of giving up - and turning the air blue - when I decided to try again the next day. I’m pleased I did this, but I think next time I will get an appliance professional in to do it.
Thanks for the input. I’m glad you got it figured out in the end.
Thanks. I’m glad you got it. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Saved me HOURS today! Incredibly helpful and thorough video! Thanks for the help!
Awesome I’m so glad! Thanks for letting me know.
Great video. I don't have the exact same washer but this video fills me with enough confidence that it will be a similar process and that I will be able to do it.
Awesome I’m glad! Thanks
Thank you so much! I was really happy that this was the first video that popped up.
Hey you’re welcome. Hopefully it helps. 😁
You earned a sub, I am needing to replace this seal on my Kenmore and I would have known I needed that tool to make it easier, your video is precise and very well made not just thrown out here like most,, do this do that ok done.
Thank you I appreciate you letting me know and for the support! Good luck with replacing it!
Thank you! I’m not quite sure which one you have, but I’m wondering if you could perhaps tell by the diameter of the hoses where they go?
Really great instruction. Followed and completed my seal replacement without any problem.
Awesome I’m glad it worked! Nice job.
I wanted to know the spring should be locked into first or second loop of the gasket retainer?
Great video - did it myself. YES get the pliers - I could get the springs off with plyers but there's no way I could have gotten them back on without the spring removal tool. Helped for me to put the outside spring back on by routing the top first and using the tool to loop it around the bottom.
Thanks and great job!! The pliers are so necessary from my experience too.
Really? I'm going to give it a try anyway. If I can't get it back on I'll buy the tool.
@@dreed7312 I think it’s gonna be really difficult without the pliers but if you have the time to test it out go for it.
I took it off with my hands in about 1 second and I cant imagine it taking longer than 5 to put back on. A child could work the spring in my dryer. I can't imagine an adult needing a tool for this.
Mine had a lot of tension I can’t imagine doing it without the tool so maybe yours is a little different I dono
This was a perfect, step by step, straight to the point video
Thank you for letting me know!
Very good video. I just wonder what a Technician Charge would be ?
Thank you! We were told $90 an hr for a tech to fix it and if they sell you the part it’s a big upcharge. They said it’s best if we buy our own part even if they install it cuz we’d save a lot. I decided to save some money and do it myself since it was pretty straight forward. Thanks
Thanks! Worked great. Hardest part was getting the gasket back on.
You’re welcome. Yes that can be tricky. Glad you got it.
1 important step (maybe): the two weights can be removed with a 10mm socket so that it’s easier to take off and put on the seal in the back. You did it without removing the weights, but I’m sure it was a little harder to fiddle with the seal.
Yes I did it without but if it makes it easier might as well try it and see how it goes. 👍🏻
I love the methods, tips and tricks. great video! (And here I was thinking I could just replace that seal without taking everything apart.) Thanks for schooling me!
Thank you I’m glad if it was helpful! Good luck with replacing it!
Thank you so much! We were able to change the door gasket thanks to your video 😊
Awesome great job! Thanks for letting me know.
Best how-to video ever! Saved me lots of $$$
Awesome thank you! I’m glad.
well instructed video, congrats. mine machine wobbles with a loud thud settling sound during the end of spin cycle. i believe it could be shock absorbers. do you a video on it.
Thank you! Sorry no I haven’t dealt with that on mine but it very well could be.
Can you use needle nose pliers for the spring?
Hi. They don’t travel far enough to take enough tension off from my experience.
Hey Great video, ours isn't leaking but it's not draining and smells. Will be doing this as soon as the parts come in. Thanks for the tips and things to look out for.
You’re welcome. Good luck with everything!
Does that leak guard under the laundry machine come with the machine or they are sold separately somewhere? What are they called?
Yes, it’s called a washing machine drain pan. You have to buy them separately. They’re only like 30 bucks at Lowes.
Do I need to disconnect the water supply tube or just turned off water ?
If you’re doing it in place I think you can just turn it off.
Thanks! Your tutorial was very helpfull. To everyone please get the pliers. I did not and was very difficult to install the retains cable.
Thank you! I agree it really helps.
At what point did you reattach the water tube to the top of the seal?
I don’t actually remember off top of my head, but I’m pretty sure I showed it in the video.
Thank you for the great video. It was easy to follow and I replaced the bellow easily. I did not have the tool so that part was a lot more difficult (everyone should buy the tool if doing this replacement!).
You’re welcome. Yes that tool makes it so much easier
Did you need parts to make these stackable?
Yes, there is a stacking kit that’s made for them.
Thanks for the clip, the maintenance was clear and fun.👍🏻
You’re welcome!
I just used this video to change the door gasket. I put it back together & now my washer is squeaking really bad. What did I do?
I'm not sure if it's too small or I've had too much to drink. But it definitely doesn't slip right on.
Could be either or. Lol
Having issues with the inner spring ring. The main loop on the ring, not the spring, keeps bending when using the spring expander, causing it to slip off. Any suggestions?
Unhook the spring. Put the hoop over, then stretch the spring and hook it.
Took me 3 hours but got it done. Thank you!
Awesome nice job!
Sorry for the silly question, I'm wondering why you unplugged the safety switch? Can the machine just be unplugged and leave the safety switch plugged in?
Without watching the video at the moment, I believe I did it in order to get that front panel off.
Stacked washer and dryer! This video was a perfect tutorial!
Thanks I’m glad if it helped!
I can't find that too where I live. Any other way you can suggest to install it back?
Online is the only place I could find it. I have a link down in the video description below the video. It’s almost impossible to do without I think.
@@SmartEasyDIYer thanks.
You’re welcome
I have been struggling for an hour to get the big spring back on. I have the tool and it is still very difficult. I have taken a break to read comments here and have no idea what I am doing wrong. Also, the boot was very hard to get on. This has taken me over 3 hours so far and it has been the boot and the spring that have been the hardest.
Sorry about that. Hope you figured it out OK.
Yeah I have same issue with the tool as well. For some reason I had trouble wedging into the hole on the open ended wire connection to spring using that tool. I kind of pulled it off once it is slightly loose but I'm not looking forward to putting it back in later 😂 that's a problem for tomorrow
One day at a time. 👍
Where is the link for the spring release please ?
It’s in the video description below the video. Thanks
Thanks -2023 fixed a Kenmore Front load
Awesome good job glad you got it!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Great vid saved me hundreds of $.
Awesome I’m so glad! You’re welcome. Good job fixing it.
Is it possible to do the job WITHOUT removing the top of the washer?
You said you would tell us were you get the parts? Did I miss it
Yeah I have them linked down below the video in the description. If you can’t see it click “more” below the video.
