So her argument for why its not sexual harassment is: 1) she's done it before and no one said anything 2) the team encouraged her and 3) "well other people are doing it too!". Like, I'm pretty sure the last argument is literally made by children and refuted by parents with the phrase "well if they jumped off a cliff, would you do it too?". Terrible look. Terrible excuse. Like, if these were female hockey players then there would be all sorts of call outs going on but its somehow permissible because they're men? Honestly, these people need to act like the adults they supposedly are and keep their opinions about other people and their bodies to themselves.

I do think the marketing team screwed up here too. Most PR practitioners/marketing teams don't seem to understand the dynamics of fandoms and parasocial relationships and why interacting with fandoms to gain new followers is often much more trouble than it's worth. Still, that booktoker and her followers went too far. People aren't fictional characters, you can't drag strangers into your sexual fantasies, and consent can be revoked. Some things are just best saved for the groupchat. I can't imagine commenting "krak my back" under a picture of a woman and her baby and feeling like you're in the right.

It does make me wonder how young the person managing the PR is.
I'd be willing to bet money that members of the team (maybe just him, maybe not) finally went to management because the online comments and DMs had reached an unignorable point of sexual harassment and that's why PR had to pull everything down - because even hockey players have legal protection from their employer encouraging sexual harassment.

For anyone who feels sorry for this girl: Would you say the same if a man had made the same statements about a woman? If not then take a look at your double standards. No one has the right to make overtly (or covertly) explicit sexual comments about another person. Being a celebrity doesn’t make you fair game, and saying “oh I was just joking,” is the common thing for people to do when they don’t want to take blame for bad behavior. Sexual harassment is sexual harassment. She’s at fault for her posts, the team is at fault for encouraging her and flying her out. HE is not at fault for saying enough is enough, and his wife is not at fault for calling Kierra and others of her ilk on their nonsense. As a celebrity, especially a sports one, there is a certain amount of that kind of thing that you’re prepared to deal with. But that doesn’t mean you have to put up with all of it, or that you have to be comfortable with it. It’s disgusting that she tried to make this into a race thing. Maybe other women didn’t hold their leg up to display some of the holes you wanted him to fill. Maybe others didn’t say on a public platform that he should take his mouth guard out so you could put something else in his mouth. Maybe others weren’t making such degrading statements. His being male doesn’t make this ok. It’s just as wrong to sexually harass a man as it is to do it to a woman.
A man who did this would have been, at the very least, banned from TikTok, and may have even lost his job. She deserves nothing less. If you don’t know how to act in public then you need to keep quiet in public.

What I believe Felicia was trying to do (which is backed up by her second statement where she said she hadn't meant to attack any specific person) was bring attention to the NASTY comment that was ABOVE Kierra's name. Why Kierra made herself into a martyr I do not understand.
"But the Kraken have deleted all those videos to try and cover themselves!!!" And?? MAYBE--and stay with me here--it's because they found out that a member of the team they WORK for was uncomfortable with those videos, and decided to delete them out of respect to him and his family???? Just a thought.
That being said, the Kraken absolutely should not have played into this whole situation, and I'm sure there are things going on behind the scenes to straighten it all out. I think while I agree that Kierra may be getting an unfair proportion of backlash, but her posts defending herself are not a good look. She should’ve just apologized and moved on. She shouldn’t be victim blaming the family. The timing of a response should not be weighed against the initial response. It’s is very fair for the wife to be okay with it initially and then later decide that it has become too much. I can understand how she might feel singled out, but the family doesn’t owe her anything tbh.

Yeah, it's shitty that the team hasn't made a statement but we don't know whats going on behind the scenes. I'm sure they have lawyers going over everything to make sure it's handled appropriately. So far, I think deleting everything and distancing themselves is the best they can do publically for the well being of their players and the orginasation as a whole.
Watching her videos was so cringe. I can't imagine any world where saying those things and doing those things would be acceptible. And honestly I think the backlash towards her in particular is deserved. And she handled it so poorly. She wants to claim to be the queen of booktok with over a million followers and claim to have put the team on the map, yeah I'd call her out too. What's that saying about cutting it off at the head.
As for the wife and her husband, I don't think they did anything wrong at all. I think both had well put together statements and the only downside is she had to take it into her own hands to stand up for herself and her husband.
I think this is a lesson for everyone moving forward.

This was her brand. She did this with male country singers. She “found” booktok after that started to die off and then that took off for her. Also imagine how it feels to have your job objectifying you and knowing speaking up
Could cause you to loose your job and possibly stop being able to take care of your family? So he and other players may have never been comfortable with it to start with. Imagine how his wife must’ve felt If she was at the game with Kiera being there yelling that stuff at her man in person. I bet Kiera would feel differently if it was her man a woman was going this to. Just a messy situation all around. Alex may have asked his wife to speak up because there would be less professional repercussions for him if she did it and not him.

I'm all for people getting interested in hockey, but sexualizing players (anyone really) in this way ain't it. The hockey community already has some questionable and serious history in their conduct (World Jr's, Chicago Blackhawks, Team Canada, it goes on) and I'm concern this may and can feed and enhance this behaviour for the worse. I hope the Kraken social team is changed or they get through some sort of training. Wouldnt be surprised if at the next Players/General Managers meeting, social media would be a topic in negotiations.

Oh this brings up so many thoughts! I used to work in an office where a young female coworker would go on an ON in meetings about how attracted she was to the man who was the head of our department. It used to make me so uncomfortable. I work mostly with women, but there were always 2-3 men in the room and you could tell they were uncomfortable too. I wish I had said something at the time. If a man had done that same thing in a public work setting, he would have been in big trouble. I honestly think the worst part here is that the hockey team is getting away with encouraging this young woman to continue posting. They could probably get in legal trouble because the player is their employee, and they were actively encouraging this harassment against him. But, they are a large, wealthy entity, who can afford lawyers to help them navigate and delete posts, etc. And its the individuals (on both sides) who are left dealing with the pain and continued harassment from people sending them comments and hate messages. Anyway, thank you so much for making a video about this. I'm so old and out of touch, I never would have known about it if it weren't for your video, and it really does bring up a lot of important issues. Thank you!

I hope in addition to taking the videos down, the team apologized to Alex and his wife. They might be the only ones who finally spoke up, but how many other players were also affected? Kids go to these games and she's there yelling that kind of stuff, like have some common sense and respect for the other fans around you. People need to start owning their own behaviour instead of blaming it on someone else or trying to say, well the team did it so it's okay for me. I've also been harassed too many times only for the men to be all "we're just joking around" to ever support someone who tries to defend themselves by saying it's just humor.

Jess has become my comfort watch. This is probably the 4th time I have watched/listened to this video alone.

Pr/marketing, management aka corporation handled it the wrong way. Kierra should have just apologized about the videos and moved on. Her making the videos calling her his wife a bitch and karen. Plus, she's implying allegation concerning her marriage on a live is not putting her in a negative light.
To be honest, the wife doesn't have to respond to Kierra's DMs. The wife and husband made statements that videos and comments have been inappropriate. What is there to discuss with Kierra?

There's a way to tell someone you think they're attractive and this is not it. So awkward all the way around.. 😅 it's ok to keep some things to yourself.

I didn’t think I could be surprised by how people behave in public//online but here we are….why do women think it’s okay to objectify men like this??
