Eric, you saved me on your last recommendation....I bought the ThinkDiag bluetooth scanner back in May when you demonstrated it on that Civic Hybrid with a bad computer and it just saved me yesterday. I like it because it's much smaller and less cumbersome. I had an intermittent fault where I suddenly felt intermittent power loss from stoplights. It turned out to be a wheel speed sensor that was slowly failing and not lighting up warning lights at first. Finally the fault lit up and stayed on long enough for me to pull a code....I believe it paid for itself on that one. It's probably more expensive than this one since I have to annually subscribe to each make it can scan.

Everything that doesn't empty your wallet, monthly or yearly, is limited, but at least the LAUNCH platform is MUCH cheaper than any other multi-module scan tool. My Zurich Pro runs the Android/LAUNCH platform and covers a TON of options and vehicles.

Yes, 129E is a basic diagnostic device, it does not have BI function. Better now, you can open additional advanced features in the mall

do you know if its possible to see gen mon and gen com for a ford smart charge with this scanner. been looking to buy one but would like to have that feature for obvious reasons.
I hope Launch doesn't remove features from this thing for you like they did with my x431 crp919E. I changed the TPM sensor id's for two of my wheels on an 06 caravan, then they sent an update that removed the feature, so now I can't change the other two. I contacted them, and they're trying to say it never had the feature to begin with.

Eric, it seems that you were impressed with the tool and during the video you shared that it was an entry level tool and you would recommend it. However for middle level scan tools, what would you recommend???

Your baby girl is almost as cute as mine...almost that is. Mine is 13 now, it seems like she was six only yesterday. I bought the older Launch CRP123 Premium three years ago. That scan tool has worked well for me on my own vehicles and my side work. I could probably use an upgrade, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. Good review.

I have ABS brake trouble with a 2005 Mitsubishi L200 so decided to purchase a Creader Launch Professional 129E on Amazon. I had my doubts whether this scanner would be able to find the faults on this old ABS system especially as this is a DIY semi professional scan tool. Yet incredibly it soon diagnosed the faults in the front wheel sensors. Turns out somebody had gone into the instrument cluster and removed the ABS warning light. The ABS light should always come on momentarily even for a brief second when starting the ignition. if it does not something is wrong. I would recommend anybody buying a used vehicle with a DLC connection should always get a good scan tool and plug the OBD 2 into the DLC connector. If the seller will not allow the scan tool to be used to read potential fault codes then walk away. These old type Mitsubishi front wheel sensors are very magnetic and can even pick up a pair of vice grips. Needless to say they soon attract flakes of rust which will trigger fault codes which should then illuminate the ABS light provided somebody has not removed with the bulb.

Air bag check light problem is usually cause by your locking mechanism. The easy remedy is to spray that locking belt with wd-40.
I have this tool!!!! 🤪. Great scan tool! Free software!!!! My favorite scan tool is ThinkDiag, but software is not free.
The Thinkdiag is almost perfect. But you loose functionality if you don't keep the yearly fee.

@@TheCrazy243 where did you buy for 40 bucks? It's around 100 bucks with 1 year software for 1 Car Make if I recall correctly and then it becomes a paper weight
@@account2s $40 per software and sometimes they go on sale for 29. It should be on app, thinkstore. I did not have all softwares. I Just have Chrysler, Chevy, Nissan, and two more because I work on them.. You sure you have right ThinkDiag. Because it’s only $40 per make or software or you want all softwares for 199 ,129, or149.. $100 for one make? Weird.
@@TheCrazy243 Yeah I've seen a few sales where they bundled all Manufacturer's for a single price or other specials. I think that is what they have now. All Manufacturers for 299 (dongle + software). As you need more cars the value starts to become less attractive in my opinion. Say you get on the current special at you are @ ~ 150 per year for only two years. But still it is appealing. I have Benz, Ford and GMC and only the Ford Model/Year has good coverage as my Benz and GMC are older. Do you get good coverage on your Chrysler, Chevy, Nissan?

I have a question . i purchased a 2018 chevy silverado, it was a fleet truck. The truck drives & runs perfect. but when i get up to 70mph it won't go any faster even if i push the gas pedal to the floor. it's a v8 & has a 140 on the dash. what can be done to remove or fix the limited speed problem.
Did you search that specific problem online? That would suck man
I found a Mechanic to fix my 2018 chevy silverado, that wouldn't go pass 70mph. he had to contact GM & prove to them that the truck was no longer owned by the company that purchased a fleet of them. & they charged him a $100.00 to unlock their program. & i ended up paying $431.00 for the complete service. I'm very satisfied.

What we DIY need is a tool based on x431 with all the same software/resets/functions but maybe locked to 5 - 8 vins. That way it's cheaper than the ones with access to all the brands.

@@patbfd Thinkdiag becomes a paper weight after 1 year if you don't continue paying. That is different than the x431 based tools where you lose updates if you don't continue paying but the tool still works afterwards
Not totally true, you will still have the OBD function. 39.95 a year isn’t bad for one manufacturer
@@patbfd ohh yeah. I missed that. Personally I don't value the obd part much since I have other readers already. But yes I agree if you need it ~40 bucks per year is not too bad.
@@patbfd Do you know if the Resets are included in the 40 bucks or do you pay extra for the reset/functions? I recall that initially they charged extra for adding resets. Can't find a solid answer on their website

It uses RS-232 port on the machine itself? That's OLD..like 1970s old. I can't believe they still make that..it transfers data slower than dial up internet..it's not like anyone still uses ODB1 attachments...most of those cars are off the road.
Rs232 is 11 pins and a completely different pin setup. This has 15 pins, oddly enough matching the spec for every odb port out there (1:25 in the vid). It is an ODB cable, not a serial cable. While missing a pin on one side, I think it is chassis or another ground, doesn't matter and I don't remember. The tool does everything from ODB to CAN bus. Much like a $15 bluetooth module that connects to your phone. But some folks don't like using Torque or dealing with the bluetooth pairing. Anyhow, it is a great tool that fits the bill for some folks. I have bluetooth adapters but I'm looking at one of these because I probably won't lose it or forget to unplug and drain the battery.

Not happy with my launch crp 129E, it quit working for me , serial number not registered. Launch customer service was no help.

Guys, just a heads up. Please DO NOT BUY these from Amazon (unless II is an authorized retailer). They are mostly all Chinese knock offs. I bought one and it can't be updated or fixed. I don't know why Amazon allows companies to sell fake items. I lost almost $300 on it.
