- This PT cruiser came in with the check engine light on... Time was tight so i pulled out the Launch CRP129e...

I fired up my phone as a video camera to take you along!!! almost real time!!! the Launch did very well. pulled the code in addition to confirming the failure and the fix. hope you enjoy

It is so nice to see SnapOn get some real competition, the new generation of scan tools are far cheaper, with bidirectional control. Competition makes everybody better. That said, I haven't yet found one that gets more than a C grade after a year or so. I've heard some good things about the Launch, but I haven't tried that one yet. Let's all hope that Launch can raise the bar a little higher! Another excellent video, Will.

For a reasonable price, the tool had lots of PIDs and seem to work very well. Great diagnostics on the switch Will and keep up the good work. 😀👍
My eye always twitches when I see a PT haha. Nice scanner, been looking at a few different Launch products.

I just bought a dedicated VAG scanner... to keep in my car. Small scan tools like this are great for when you're away from the shop!

sandy anderson they sure pushed the envelope in recent years... pretty impressive
yep common problem, I've always put foot on brake, trans in gear and turned wheel lock to lock and momentarily bind at end, if motor bogs down much, bad switch or wire. should be able to see and feel the load change through transmission and tachometer rpm.
Yeah I'd flat parts canon that one, then look further if it was still broke, even if it wasn't bad it will be soon, exception it looks brand new and came from other shop. not many are good at wiring and electronics, which is bad since vehicles are chock full of such now.

looks good as "scanner only" tool but if I am going to buy only one diagnostic tool I would have to have bidirectional controls built into it. I know no one diagnostic tool is "best" and most shops have multiple different diagnostic tools because of that but for a DIY guy that is not practical but I do enough work on cars where I need a diagnostic tool so trying to decide if I can only afford one, which one should I buy. Any suggestions??
Agree,bidirectional is must for auto technician or Advance DIYer. Launch X431 Diagun IV is not bad for the cost.

why on my second screen 1:30 , I only see the first two top options and no ABS & no SRS system?

No but Launch X431 Diagun IV has the full bidirectional control capability.

Hi Drew,CRP129E has the Oil/EPB/SAS/TPMS/Injector Reset features.Think about Launch Diagun IV or X431 V if you wanna a full bi-directional controls scan tool.
Just did not like the one I had. Very buggy but could've been me!
The Disgruntled Mechanic I recently had a couple hiccups where I had to do a manual entry or it would hang up. Once I went in manually everything seemed ok... even my higher end tools do this at times.. I agree this can be very annoying regardless
My launch crp 129e quit working on me, launch customer support was no help either.
got a launch scan pad a couple of years ago now i forgot where my s/o modis is hiding
juan rodriguez lol pretty impressive scan tool no doubt!!! Keith from new level turned me on to launch a few years back... I bought a x431 it’s a few years old now
It has issues since I have one. The MAC address changes all the time and that means you cannot set a MAC filter on the router. And it is not supported by LAUNCH USA.

No but Launch X431 Pro,pro mini,Diagun can do bidirectional test.
