  • I didn't plan to make this video but after I suffered a nasty tyre issue with my Mini Clubman I tried to turn it into an opportunity. However it proved far more difficult than I thought it would !

They look so much better mate. Too skills reversing up and round that access to your drive. What a friendly neighbour too!

I only found out recently about the profile being a percentage of the width, I thought it was the size in mm 🙄 my whole 25 year driving life has been a lie 🤣🤣🤣 great video as always 👍👍👍

Glad you got it sorted. Will remember Steve Andrews Tyres in case we hit any problems during our MINI club trip to Gorran Haven in September.

Your video highlights the issues with modern cars perfectly regarding tyre problems. That’s why the majority of breakdown call outs these days are tyre related. I agree with the principle of changing 2 tyres on the same axle, but most people would baulk at that. Had many an argument with fleet companies about changing two tyres, when I was doing 40k plus a year before I retired. Fleet companies want tyres to be nearly bald before they change them!! Left my car at a Kwikfit centre for a week once to prove a point. Good video Ped 👍😎

They look way better, Pete. The stance is really good now. Flaps can stay, I'll give you that one!

I’ve never seen streets as narrow! It’s a wonder the Sorento could fit!

I've heard others complain about a lack of clearance for jacks on their Minis. Glad it worked out for the new tire profile. It looks great!!

It's a good plan. You must be absolutely loaded replace all 4 tires on one car for a puncture. And a lovely cottage to rent out in Cornwall plus your house where you live is beautiful. This TH-cam business makes you a few quid on the side nice one. Well done congratulations cheers Phil from Newark

I don't know about these later Minis but on the Gen1 a piece of 20mm plywood with a bit of Yoga mat glued to one side on the top the jack allows you to lift the car on the sill. If you position it below the door shut line it will lift both front and rear wheels if you jack high enough. The plywood spreads the load and the yoga mat prevents damage.

I’ve got 225/50 R18 on my JCW Countryman because I’ve got the adjustable dampers .They are also not run flats .I had a puncture just outside Kinlochewe a couple of weeks ago and got Mini rescued to Strathcarron garage who had a replacement . I think you will both appreciate the slightly better ride quality long term Mr and Mrs Pedro 🤗ps Mini rescue were very good in such a remote location 5 star to them .

What you needed was the RAC. They use airbag jack and will fit a magical, fits all cars, spare wheel to get you to the tyre place. Then you leave the wheel there for RAC to collect.

Reverse over a couple of bricks.. it will give you the clearance for the trolley jack...

What about a "Thank you!" to the man who helped with the main "adventure", Ian? That will be nice.

Have a 435d BMW did exactly the same, only difference was it was like for like, the difference between Pirelli run flats and Mitchell Pilot Super Sport - night and day 👍 To add to that, I bought the 435d based on a very old video you did 😁👍

We were down in Polperro, Cornwall last week too. The weather was nuts. From Biblical rain to sun to hurricane from one day to the next. Still loved it though.

Arch gap be damned I'd be more interested in the ride comfort. The JCW Clubman is pretty stiffly sprung on it's standard sport suspension. Unless you have lovely smooth tarmac you're going to have a rough ride on 30 profile tyres. So glad I went for 18" wheels and adaptive dampers on our Clubman. I don't do track days in it so happy to lose some ultimate track performance in exchange for a car I can still enjoy on our p poor Norfolk back roads. Maybe Mrs PetrolPed damaged the tyre on purpose in the pursuit of a better ride. Thought about that?
