Loving Kindness Meditation or Metta Meditation | Mindfulness Meditation | Mindful Movement

  • Loving kindness meditation, also known as Metta meditation, as a practice can be used in a few different ways. Towards yourself, towards others, towards all beings and as an intentional way of living. In today’s meditation practice, I will guide you through offering loving kindness to yourself, others, and all beings.
    There are a number of benefits of this practice, including, but not limited to, uplifting your mood, quieting your inner critic, and increasing empathy. Enjoy this practice with me as your guide today. You can also benefit from an abbreviated version of this practice at any time, revisiting the phrases for yourself or others anytime you need.
    The phrases are:
    May you be safe, may you be happy, may you be healthy, may you live with ease.
    You will first direct these phrases to a loved one, then to yourself, then to a neutral person, then to a difficult person, and finally all beings. I choose to begin with a loved one so you can easily experience the emotion of loving kindness, even if you may have difficulty feeling it for yourself initially.

    Thank you for this video. I’m at a point in my life where I feel like meditation might be crucial for my mental health. I’ve always been a very stressed and anxious person growing up. I’m 25 now and I’ve noticed that over the past 2 years I’ve been noticing myself becoming a bitter person and unhappy. I am still new to meditation but I’m hoping it will bring me the inner peace I’ve needed my entire life. Thank you so much

      It will help alot! Just stay regular with it and you'll see changes over time. Sounds like a gratitude practice would also be great for you.

      I feel the same. I'm turning bitter and that was never me before. I feel like it's the result of trauma that others have caused me... Not to sound like I'm pointing fingers, but after a while of people being so cruel for a long time to me, you begin to change in bad ways. The pain transforms you into a complete stranger. I have been meditating since 2011, but no longer like I used to... Just every now and then. It's a good idea to do seasons before bed. It really does help. I hope it helps you too. 💖 P.s.- blink 182 still rocks!! 🎸

    The person I picked in the beginning was my dog. I just have this deep sense of love for her. It's so easy to love her because it's unconditional and authentic and we have a deep rooted bond like one I can't experience with humans. 💕💖💕

      Lovingkindness for France! May the French succeed especially in their love for nature and environmentalism, the green heart no doubt represents such a philosophy as predominant in that romance nation France right now! Grenoble is reputed for it's eco sustainable policies, but lately it's gone to a new level all over the country and beyond old levels of intensity. The French are perhaps shy in ways, but they do burningly desire environmental eco justice and they are alongside their ally Spain in this regard with great synergy. Loving kindness, this is mercy and gratitude at the same time, a truth and also not a reason to let down the tree hugging; France will retain 99% of it's current wild forests and greenspaces in the next 5 years and it is highly likely there will be even a 1-15% increase in this not a decrease which is historic for any nation! Spain is charmingly trying to match or best this. Loving kindness, in this competition if both win it will only be better not worse so may both have as good a fate! Divine heart

    One of the best loving kindness meditation I’ve come across. There’s science back proof that doing this once a week will make you a much better person that’s forgiving people and moving on. When you think about the person that causes you pain, suffering, or difficult times. Or messes up your energy vibe. It’s eight times more powerful when you think about that negative person in your life that has done you wrong. The research is out there.

      Loving kindness for Kevin,
      may they avoid misfortune by being surrounded by good hearts
      lovingkindness, you are pro environmentalist in views and yet you do little to express that with your life, so the buddha's prescription is a prayer that may you spend a little time guiding others to recycle and not use energy wastefully, turn off appliance not in use. you are not charged for the buddhist consultation. what is the face before you were orn? nanling responded "the buddha was originally female!"

      Loving kindness for Kathy Leggett, she glows with the benevolence of lovingkindness, her heart is able to feel mine and I feel its emanation of compassion, it is a great comfort. Though the words may never come for some of my inner feelings, to be absorbing this general kindness right now without pressure on articulating anything specific is a great peace.
