DJI has a stabilizer for every type of camera, and today they release Version 3 of the Osmo Mobile lineup. They tried to solve all the issues and concerns that were brought up with the Osmo 1 and 2. This new foldable design makes it more compact and easy to carry around with you. The enhanced DJI Mimo App can now be controlled by the function buttons on the handle, allowing for faster access to menus and enhances the overall user experience. In this video, I give you a run down of the new DJI Osmo Mobile 3, show you new intelligent modes and give you videos examples. Thanks to DJI for sending this unit to review.

Hi, does it work with Filmic pro?
And... Does it work with Osmo Action? (at least basic gimbal functionality)
When you show how to balance it, you only balanced it in one axis and you are supposed to balance it in two. Immediately I can see that you've got the second balance point all the way over to one side, which you'd only need if your phone was much heavier in one part than another. DJI have a short "how to" video showing the correct way to balance the phone - recommended viewing,
That apart - great review, your kids make excellent assistants! In particular, your description of the gimbal modes is as clear as the one I posted for the Pocket (though I say so myself) - many reviewers don't seem to actually understand them.
Oddly there seems to be no direct way to change gimbal modes. There's the quick menu accessed by the M button if you set that on, and there you can choose gimbal modes by selecting with the joystick, but what would have been handy would be an option to hold down one of the buttons to toggle between Tilt lock and Follow, like on the Pocket extension rod. 'Sport Mode' (fast gimbal) is obtained by one click of the trigger, then hold it down. If there was an option in the app to change that to provide Tilt lock mode / Follow mode toggle, it would be ideal. Well, for me anyway...
I just got it today. I am so impressed. Everything just fantastic. I have Samsung edge 7. No any problems. Highly recommended.

Seems to be the best inexpensive unit for use with Moment lenses, which I cannot be without. Ulanzi makes a weight kit for this gimbal that screws right into the phone holder. Really need it when using the filter kit on the lenses.

My only issue with this was the osmo mobile 2's gimbal motor used to appear in my footage as I was using a Galaxy S9, which meant moving the phone further left and having to balance the gimbal A LOT, it would sometimes tilt off to the left which was insanely frustrating. I've yet to see a review of the 3 that isn't an iphone. They call this a smartphone gimbal but in reality it's ideal phone is an Iphone due to where the camera lens is positioned on the back of the phone. So I was wondering if the 3 would have the same issues. I don't see the point in going to the trouble of selling my osmo 2 to order a 3 and have the exact same problems only this time without being able to balance the gimbal myself I see even more problems if the phone had to be moved off centre. Anyway awesome review and a new sub :)

i heard the motor over heats easily behind the camera specially when you a heavy phone with accesories
Think if you stay within weight recommendations you will be ok...if you need a gimbal that can handle more weight have a look at Zhiyun but their tracking not as good I have read. Seems like all gimbals have their plus and minus points.

I was wondering if you can make a video on how osmo action camera can be handled on this osmo mobile 3 to better mechanical stabilization. Nobody did a video so far. If possible let us know the best possible gimbal adapter for that combo and please see if the gimbal is coming in the frame. Also on how to balance it with adapter on osmo mobile 3. Great review! I saw another vid today that showed how you can nudge the active track center around with the joystick. Please try it out and let us know.
Thanks I did that. But when you recompose and do another gesture control for photo, it recenters. You can see in the video that when active track activates after the peace sign, it recenters it.

How adorable you children, God bless them! Great video. Is hard to stay away from giving money to DJI, is it not? I totally fall in love with the Osmo Mobile 2 even with its own quirks. I took it with me to my holidays to Europe last year and I was totally impressed. I end up taking it everywhere in my backpack and use it a lot.
Now this Osmo Mobile 3 looks even better! I have the osmopocket with the new stick and is a great camera but there are sometimes situations where you may find yourself with just your mobile phone. DJI, take my money!
Not sure if anyone below has asked however, can you use the ultra wide lens from the Samsung S10+? I thought i saw in another review that in the ultra wide mode, the structure of the gimbal will be in view. Therefore, you can only use the "regular " or zoomed mode. Please advise. hi sir really admire you channel detail every inch products you review. I have an issue, osmo mobile 3 is one of my budget gimbal i plan to purchase, but there's a problem where my fon mate 20X weight is 232g which is exceed 2g from what osmo mobile 3 capable (230g). If i just ignore it about the 2g should it be a problem on cinematic view and the moto stability or anything else. Really hope you can give feed back, thanks all the way from Borneo😊
Pretty cool Aldryn. One thing that has stopped me from getting a gimbal like this is that I use an iPhone X with the OtterBox defender case on it. Too much of a pain to take out of the case etc. Any chance the gimbal holder would be able to hold the phone with the case on it?
Its works with my mobile phone cage, but I have not tried the Otter.
They design could be a lot better i need to remove my case to mount, i may return it because of the mount.

You showed the switching from front to back camera.I understand you cannot record when doing this move?
Do we know which of these gimbals supports being able to switch from front to back camera while recording (specifically for Instagram & Facebook Lives)? I'm told the Mobile 3 does not with its Mimo app, not sure if another app could be used to support this?

Hi Aldryn great vid. But I have one major concern. If you're using an Android phone can you adjust the camera parameters (ISO, shutter speed, fps) within the Mimo App? I heard you can only do it on Apple phones. Can you confirm it? Thanks

Some people may be wondering what the foam pads are for that’s included with the Osmo mobile three and here is a link explaining that: th-cam.com/video/DebAsotsmOg/w-d-xo.html but they go into the cradle that holds holds the phone one on each side so extra are included, just one goes above and below the DJI logo

I know it's exclusively made for smartphones. But can you have a combo with osmo action camera on this gimbal? Just need to pick one if it can work with the osmo action with out the mimo app for normal motions.
I tried it and it wouldn’t balance in portrait mode. I believe if you have an adapter it might work.

Hi can you add on a lense on your phone to see if dji still keep them balanced?
Check out the Snoppa Atom. The DJI is a knockoff of that gimbal that came out last year and still has more features. Can handle heavier payloads, mic pass through, wireless phone charging, can turn a full 360 degrees. DJI is getting over because of name recognition but Snoppa had the folding gimbal first. If you use the Gimbal app the DJI has better face/object tracking and some other features but apps can be updated while gimbals themselves cannot.
