Who uses gimbals with their smartphone videography? Super curious
Matti Haapoja I bought a DJI Osmo Mobile 2 right after it came out and I have to say, I really don’t use it that often. I think it really depends on whether or not your main camera is your phone. I use my phone from time to time for video, but usually I’ve got my mirrorless or DSLR since I want the highest quality.
If I had a gimbal, I would use it for everything.
Usually smartphone video action for me happens super fast so no time for gimbals :D
Love using it and big big fan of DJI products and also love watching you so much learn from you

I'll never understand why someone dosn't just create a video on what the title says , ideally the majority of people are looking for a 2 minute video on the DJI Osmo not a 14 minute vlog.

Gotta say, the tools that are available today is really impressive. For 120$ i'd definitely buy it if i was using my smartphone to shoot videos!

Dan Galvan I have used this tactic hundreds of times especially when in the hotel elevator returning with the gear after travel filming. it’s the best to watch people’s reactions because they always expect something grand like a big company commercial or a marvel movie of some kind lol

Looks awesome! I've had my eyes on a phone gimbal for some time now but money is tight and I've had to prioritize other things. Would be awesome to be able to get more steady shots on the go without having to pack a lot.

adam savage has made a tool for getting the broken filters off cameras. They have had the same issue twice now. first time they cut it off, second time they used some sort of tool.

That tracking feature is very cool. I’ve been using Instagram’s Hyperlapse app for stabilisation and it’s surprisingly good. I’m always worried gimbals will slow vlogging down

Try using a rubber band to remove your cracked lens filter! Just a suggestion. Works for me every time.

I just bought an Osmo 3 Mobile, and cannot wait to play with it. I am an elementary school teacher. I see the potential for using smartphones and gimbals for school work as I put together all the school movies each year. Matt, I think it is great that you are having the logo competition, or if its over, that you did it. I love graphic art and teach my students concepts related to graphic art at the grade 7 level. I can see them using their smartphones and this gimbal for creative projects, such as advertisements or short movies based on various themes we cover at school. Take care.

I loved that. I gave my Smartphone gimbal to my brother and use an Osmo Pocket. He is using it quite a lot on walking videos.
The irony is I received my Smooth 4 from Amazon the literal day that the Osmo 3 is released...sigh. Thanks for the vid Matti! :)

You can make two little holes on the sides on the filter and then get like something long that fits the two "holes" (lines) and unscrew it. I had the same problem.
I've shot tons of video with my cell phone and a gimbal (Zhiyun Smooth Q). It does a fantastic job.
Phone stabilization + dji osmo 3 = perfect video👍
I just used Osmo Pocket for a travel film and it's an awesome all-in-one package 👍

Definitely a handy camera to have. For some people the price point may be more justifiable at stabilizing their phone camera at half the cost. Especially since the Osmo pocket camera is nearly identical to most smartphone cameras today. Mostly the same sensors and resolutions just lacking 1080p240 really.
@@DylanM15 That's true. Honestly the biggest plus for me is the active track + size + dlog profile. Just awesome.
But I see that it's not for everyone :)

Great content Matti. Don't mind logo competitions but I think it would be fair to put out some pin-pointers on what you are looking for in a logo and what usage (icon or badge vs text logo vs illustration etc) to help people out.
I've used pliers to pull off a shattered filter before. I actually bent/crushed the ring inward to get it out, without scratching the lens of course. The zoom lens went down vertical, and the filter saved it! Kind of amazing, really. All those warnings about use protective filters worked that day.

Hi dude, cool vid! However, I am interested in the face tracking with the back camera - when I do some vlogging and want to record my face, being couple of meters away of the phone, can I activate it with some kind of a gesture? With my Osmo Mobile 2 I need to manually select my face (as you also did in your vid here) which is technically impossible with the back camera and I need its resolution. Any input here would be appreciated, as this is the only feature I actually need...

when someone on the crew tells you it’s a mayonnaise commercial, it usually means they can’t tell you what it is.
I almost guarantee that was not a mayonnaise commercial.
