    Eagerly waiting to hear/see how the new iphone 11 performs with this gimbal. More specifically, I'm curious to know if the following two concerns are addressed (by either Apple or DJI)
    1) iphone 11's optical image stabilization fighting with the gimbal's stabilization
    2) iphone 11's ultra wide lens (120 degree - view) sees a portion of the gimbal (if it indeed does)

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      1. For example in Filmic Pro is an option to disable the image stabilisation (btw ultra wide lens has no stabilisation)
      2. The ultra wide lens has clear view, the gimbal is not visible - I checked it now just for you... ;-)

    • @shardulGhanti
      @shardulGhanti 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zsolt Andrási Thank you for confirming that. As for the filmic pro’s stabilization, I’m afraid that setting does nothing to the optical image stabilization of the iPhone (which is a mechanical set up). If anything, that aims to influence the electronic stabilization and some people advice to leave that ON while shooting.

    Nice job if you’re already familiar with the version Osmo. As a new owner / rookie your video wasn’t all that helpful. But your not alone. Most of the videos were similar to commercials and lacked the how to content I was looking for. Thank you

    i brought this from dji website and i use it with my note 9 (also note i have the osmo1) - this is an excellant gimble for your phone and the results are really good.
    The app is quiet good and does everything you need it to.Was the best 119 quid i spent as i got the combo pack as you deffo need the tripod - please do not buy without it as its worth it just for doing time laspes.

      Are you able to use all of the gimbal's functions with your Note 9? I have a Note 9 and was considering this gimbal, but from what I've read, Mimo doesn't play well with Android.

    Just ordered mine. I'm going to use the phone, and occasionally the GoPro 7 Black on it as well. Regarding rebalancing, I guess you can put a small piece of tape on the camera case so you can quickly put it back without having to rebalance. Wish it support rotating though.

    Received it as a gift for Christmas. It worked great and I was very happy with it until I tried to use the MP4 files that this product produces with iMovie. The MP4 files produced worked fine when played on Apple QuickTime Player but when imported into iMovie, you'd lose the soundtrack. This makes it practically useless if you intend to use iMovie to edit the MP4 video files produced by the Osmo 3, unless you factor in the cost for the purchase of a video translator software. I'm not sure if the same applies to other video editing software though. Consulting DJI on their chat line produced no results except the advice to wait until they address this matter in a future update. Something to note when deciding to buy this product.

    How well does the Osmo 3 work with an external mic that plugs into the iPhone port? For example: Shure MV88.

    • @JamesSmith-nb5hr

      Check out the Snoppa Atom. It has a pass through for the mic, wireless charging and can handle a heavier payload easily.

    I have the Mobile 2, and a Freefly Movi...so I can uses lenses on the phone. But the Movi is a pain to use, costs a lot too. Going to go with the Mobile 3 soon - that line has always been user friendly, and now can take the Moment lenses.

    I picked up one for me new Galaxy S20 real cheap but am reselling it for a few simple reasons. The app doesn't support 4k/8k video at 60 fps. You also can't save your photos or videos directly to your SD card. It can only save to your phones internal storage and then you can move it to your SD card.

    more powerful? the other reviwer said that zhiyun smooth 4 is more powerful but I sold my zhiyun coz it was jerking, heating up fast when i put moment and counterweights on it. so, if zhiyun is more powerful, what strength do u think this gimbal can offer? Pls give me an honest answer after evaluating this gimbal. Thank you. To inform you further, Osmo 3's motor is placed on the cp holder so the phone overheats when the motor heats up and heats more when you place extra load like moment lens and counterweights

  • @hyoh-wu
    @hyoh-wu 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Waiting for counter balance to come out....I need them to use with note9 and moment lense with a variable ND filter. However I like the gimble and I found it more user friendly than my Movi freefly.

  • @yemseul

    Cool how you used it while your phone still has a case on. I have an otterbox case and tried to use on the osmo (because it’s a hassle to remove it all the time) but apparently it’s become too heavy for the osmo. They recommended me to use the osmo without the case for perfect balance. But seeing you’re fine with that case, i guess slimmer and less bulky phone cases are good

    The frustration with previous model was balancing phone in that adjustable grip while having phone case on. Also with upgrading to s10e i started to notice the rotating hub at the side of photo or video. Gave away for this reason. Any such issues with this design?

    I have it also and use the iphone 10xs have the moment case and the moment anamorphic lens . Try as I might I cannot get it to balance. The error message comes up before it goes crazy and shuts itself off. Even tho while filming you can switch between portrait & landscape its during playback that it does not orient itself. I am new to all this so I could be missing something to do to make it all work. Im just playing with trying to figure it out. Any tips or tricks would be much appreciated. I have the SHURE MV88 microphone made for the iPhone also and feel a bit overwhelmed . I had high hopes I could plug all this stuff in and go. The microphone doesn't have a long enough thing to actually plug in while using the moment case. And you have to use that case to use that lens. The learning curve is extensive for me personally. Mobile equipment like this suits my needs, I cant seem make it all work just yet tho.

    This looks like a good design, with the 'angled' head so a wideangle lens shot can be made. That's a positive

    Does this rotate a full 360 degrees ?

    I just got one of these and after experimenting with taking photos, I am disappointed with the image quality of photos taken with the Mimo app (I haven't experimented with video yet, although I bought it to take videos). Is there a way to use the Iphone 8 plus camera app to take photos with the OM3 instead of with the Mimo app? How about to shoot video?

    • @VolvoBrad007
      @VolvoBrad007 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Henry German: You can absolutely use the stock camera app with the DJI Osmo Mobile 3! All the functions of the stabilization stay the same, the modes, etc, and even the record button works! So you can easily snap a pic or shoot a video no problems. I have also tried it with Halide, Pro Camera, Camera + (legacy) and Moment Pro Camera. The joystick will still control the gimbal as well. The only things you can’t do on it are for instance the active tracking or gestures, for that you’ll need the DJI Mimo app. You also will be unable to use the zoom slider, or shooting modes that the DJI Mimo app offers, however any modes that for instance Pro Camera, Halide, Moment Pro Camera, or Camera + (legacy) have like motion blur, light trail or time lapse, you most certainly can use! Hope this helps some!
      I just got one of these also, and am no pro, but these are my findings so far. I was curious, so I tested :)
      I am using an iPhone 11 Pro, but that shouldn’t matter. Just install your phone, balance, power up and open the stock camera app and start shooting!
      I am using iOS 13.1.3.

    Nice review, but save your money and buy the smooth 4.
    Way more short cuts on the gimbal and instead of a joystick it has a trigger button.
    It also uses usbc 3 and can charge the phone while filming.
    Not as compact, but still a better choice in my opinion

      @LesChroniquesDeGeorge 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had the Smooth 4 and it was not that smooth :) Sometimes it felt like it wasn't stabilize anything, it had some very awkward movements. I will be getting the DJI Osmo Mobile 3 tomorrow and try it out! I'll do a little review video and show you guys if it's any good! And will compare it to the Smooth 4

    • @DRONEDIRECTOR
      @DRONEDIRECTOR 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LesChroniquesDeGeorge Hmm that's odd that the smooth 4 ain't working for you.
      I 100% believe you though.
      Only thing I can say for sure is that my smooth 4 works perfectly, I used it to record my trip in Bornholm ''Denmark'' and had no issues.
      Maybe you received a defective one?
      Anyways, look forward to your other videos :)
      To me if it is DJI or something else is fine.
      I went with the smooth 4 because I can't stand using the joystick, but rather wanted the trigger button.
      Hope the dji gimbal works for you :)
      Have an awesome rest of your day.

      Portrait mode is still used, not for filming real video for video meant to be consumed on social. Especially a more vertically-included video such as her running. It also gives a second POV than purely landscape vids.

      Skull Nation yes it will stay balanced. You can always aim your footage where you want with the joy sticks.
      Also it will not get unbalanced at anytime unless you overload the gimbal

    So I just moved to a new house, and opened a box and found my gen 1 Osmo Mobile Silver. I took it out to film an event my daughter was in, and I forgot how much fun it was! I was going to sell it, but the going price is about $50, so no way am I going to sell it now. I decided to check out the review for the newest gen 3 Osmo, so I checked out some videos. By the way, your video is the best review out there. However, here are my thoughts on the gen 3: It uses USB-C now. Fantastic, because now it won't match any power cord I have in the house. You can't use it underslung or in flashlight mode. And I didn't see any notable improvements that I could really use. Oh yeah, you can give it the peace sign and have it track you and start recording, which I could really use... NEVER. So for my gesture, I'm going to give it the tall finger instead, save the money, and stay with my gen 1, which works like a charm even after 4 years! And for someone who is considering buying a gen 3, my advice? DON'T. Get a used gen 1 or 2 on eBay, and believe me, the gen 1 works like a tank and will save you over $100. You can probably even get one on eBay someone is selling with a case full of accessories to go with it!

    Snoppa Atom knockoff with less features and for a higher price. Compare the two and then decide.

    Dji osmo 3 gimble is the worst gimble..I bought the combo pack,thought it is very small and compact and can be taken anywhere around..but what I noticed is that it is not small as you think, won’t get into your pocket so easily and the case which comes with the combo, only fits the gimble and not the tripod..
    Further the gimble end , where it holds the phone , heats so badly in no time and which is not so good for the phone .
    I use iPhone max x , which is little heavier as compared to others and hence the gimble doesn’t balance my phone properly in off mode ,though once switched on it is normal but the battery efficiency of gimble will affect.
    also it doesn’t support filmic pro app and rather comes with its own app called Mimo which is a crap app.. no quick response, no proper tools for editing videos and the list goes on...
    Regret the decision to buy gimble3 ...my personal suggestion..go for zhiyun smooth 4 , it’s worth the price you pay...
