Drove a 2013 Nissan leaf the last five years. Loved it. Someone pulled out in front and now the car is totaled. Got check from other cars insurance co. Looked around for a new electric car . We live in an urban setting so the Leaf was limiting, but it worked. Very well . Just purchased 2019 Ionic which has been pampered in every way by an engineer , since new . Only charged level 1 . Driven regularly (57kmi). 150 predicted mile range. 137 with climate control The question posed is : because of the Leaf we already have a Siemens Stromberg level 2 charger installed at my house .I would love to use it, but I don’t wreck a perfect pampered battery. My father is an electric engineer, of course will consult him . He is not an electric car aficionado , as you guys are. Thanks to anyone for their time , who is responding .
@matthewzizzo4586 i responded to your other note. Ioniq will be much better than leaf on degradation. Nothing to fear from 7kW charging which i think is your level 2. And you can rapid charge (50kW or more) too, it manages pretty well
@@matthewbrown8443 Thank you. This was a major factor for us. Not too big, not too small. But EVs can deliver that interior space to exterior dimension ratio if well designed.
I had a decision to make - keep my 28kWh SE long term, or update whilst it still had some value. Decided to look for something with more range. I narrowed it down to a used Kona, eNiro, or Polestar 2. Really like the Polestar though it was at the top end of what I wanted to spend. However I've become used to all the toys with my Ioniq SE, and was disappointed to realise that the Polestar didn't have adaptive cruise control unless the original buyer had specified the "Pilot Pack" which made it more expensive. I eventually went for 3 year old eNiro 4+ rather than a Kona. In the end it was the Kia 7 year warranty which persuaded me.
Super interesting decision making! Good choice, except for the look of the car, which could be better. I try to persuade my son to by a Cona. My previous guesses on your choice was ID3 (same spec as Cupra) and then the Cona. Whish you good luck with your new car!😊
Didn’t quite get why you excluded the Renault Scenic. The KIA EV6 is a great alternative to the Ioniq6. Seen it in the metal, been in it, and some friends have one: beast EV for a family.
Good choice same car I have but in Australia the top spec only offers 19" though but I still like it and have it on a similar lease as yours via work but mine is 5yrs purely to make it more affordable for me being a single income. I love the light interior though will be good for hot Australian summers less heat being absorbed into the car.
Guessed it! 5:56 you have some sort of inverted mirror system on the dash. I think it is a projector system for a head up display. The only EV I saw recently having that was a… KIA Nero! Am I right? 🎉 let’s watch until the reveal, and I’ll edit my comment to see if I am right or not 😂. EDIT: nope, got it wrong 😭
An original ioniq with a 64kwh pack would be a thing of beauty. Efficiency, range and aero all in one.
It would. Assuming a bit of work on design. Cue the recently showcased Renault R17 prototype.
@@evdabblerjust got to the end, great choice 👌
Excellent video. As a 28kwh Ioniq owner, fascinating.
@@peterbunker7165 many thanks!

Great to see a review focus on size in an era of bloaty suvs that don’t fit in parking spaces

nice, looking forward to see some data!
No problem. Data you will get 😊

Kia niro ev on used is probably hard to beat on value for money and indeed peace of mind

Essentially it was decision time and it was not yet available to see let alone test drive. The others I have thoroughly tested.
