Great points all - I'm on the verge of upgrading from my 2017 iMac 4GB to some Mac Mini configuration. And I'm tired of having to freeze tracks for mixing and awful time delays when recording.
I have never regretted my M1 Macmini, and now the M4 is tempting (and cheaper then the one I have when I got it). Crazy, but nice. I also have a 2013 macbook pro and a 2014 mac air that both work fine, but with no OS support, but still useful for many things.

Mary, I believe we reached that point with the M1 - gamers and serious data crunchers aside, most of the current offerings from Apple, AMD and Intel are more than enough for home users. If I used even 10% of the resources on this model Intel box most days I would be surprised.
I've got my new M4 Mac Mini. I added 512 of storage, but I had a M2 Pro Mac Mini, so I got a good chunk of change on my trade in. Can't wait to fire it up.
I appreciate your content. I'm a super amateur musician but a really dedicated cyclist (roughly 5000 miles per year on the road) and your authenticity really rings true.
I got my new m4 mini yesterday, it's so cute But it cost me 24 hours to re-instal my Pro Tools rig (didn't realize I have so many plugins ha ha). But it's up and running now and I just mixed my first track.
good lords, the sound quality of this video is truly outstanding! I have no idea how you have managed to create such a clear and pristine soundscape from your voice!
I'm an original M1 Max base model Mac Studio user. I am SO tempted to upgrade to a M4 Pro loaded Mac Mini. However, I like not having to use an external port expander as I still use USB-A devices. Waiting probably 6 more months is going to be annoying, and I hope we get the M5 Mac Studio at that point as a reward for waiting.
I play the guitar casually so that's really the extent of my creative side, but I have a Windows gaming laptop and desktop, both with Nvidia RTX graphics so I don't necessarily need a new computer. However, the new Mac Mini with its M4 SOC is an incredible deal for sure and I'd totally grab one if I was in the need for a new computer. My first computer I owned (didn't share with family) was an intel Core Duo iMac back in the mid 2000s that I got to start college, and that thing lasted me about 8 years even with just 3GB of ram. That said, I'm too invested into the Windows/Android side of things nowadays to convert back.
@@notsure1135 I'm on a 2009 mac pro (flashed to 5,1 "2012") with 96 GB of ram, NVMe SSD's and USB 3.2 cards installed. Using Opencore Legacy Patcher, I'm running Sequoia and Logic pro 11 right up to date. I probably gained a solid decade worth of life just because of the people at Opencore and the expandability of the cheese grater Mac Pros. Probably one of the greatest computers ever made. Opencore works on a lot of those older intel macs. Anything from about 2013 or newer you can probably upgrade to Sequoia.
I am still using my M1 Mac mini and it still runs well with my Intel gaming rig that has 16 cores, a Nvidia 4070 card and this is still the computer I jump onto to do most work.
I had my firs Apple product 3 years ago. It's Macbook Air M1 base model and it just blown away my old PC that suck 600W to do way less than that M1. I still can do my job on that M1 Macbook Air but sometimes I feel that it has only 8GB of RAM. So I got the Mac Mini M4... I don't know if it's gonna make a difference from a Mac Studio but for me from M1 base model is a huge leap and I feel like I am futureproofed for the next 5 if not 10 years for what I am doing with it!
Best part of Macs is their life span. Our first Mac Mini was purchased in 2006. We finally retired it in 2020 for a 2015 27" iMac to fill it's place as our family entertainment system. For the young artist staring out, any mac 2015 or newer can serve as a decent editing platform - the cost of entry to attain quality output is no longer a barrier.
I use a MacBook Pro from 2017 as my ”backup Mac”. I use it when I travel and the like. I mostly use Adobe Creative Suite. My new MacBook from last year is noticeably faster, but I can do all my work on my old Mac. No problem.
It might be a Shure SM7B. If you watch Mary's studio tour from 2021, you will see one in the studio. It sounds remarkable. I would also like Mary to post the exact mic model.
I ordered a Mac Mini because the store here is sold out. It won't be here until the end of November. Sigh... I'm still happy with my M1 Macbook Pro. It was a game changer but it's time to upgrade! Keep up the great content!
My 2011-era Mac Mini. It's still extraordinary, utterly void of any issues. Of course, it's maxed out with 16 GB of RAM and two 1 TB hard drives. I still record and edit narratives and voice-overs every day, as well as communicate visually with producer-directors while working. I know, it's time for a new, more powerful Mac Mini, and that's the only computer that I'll consider. Thank you for your brilliant review, Mary.
you may want to look into opencore legacy patcher. If it has a metal GPU you could probably upgrade it to Sequoia. Check the details though. That one might be right on the borderline.
I use a Mac Mini M1 with basic specs and I´m happy so far. Up to now that`s all I need for my tasks. For tablet and smartphone I´m with Samsung for some years now and very happy with those devices too. I had an iPhone and an iPad but didn`t like the restrictions they offered. So I guess for my usecases I´ve found the best of 2 worlds.
@@glowaves oh come now, there are many, regardless of which platform you use, whether it is Windows or Mac, Android or Apple, there are things you can get on some and not the others and to suggest otherwise would be a nonesense.
I switched to Apple 9 years ago. I use an iMac in my studio and MacBook Pro for mobile use. Love them both but it’s time for an upgrade. Only issue is the price Apple charge for memory and SSD upgrades. I do feel that Apple are ripping people off on that front. But the new mini looks great and may well be my next purchase if a new Mac Studio doesn’t arrive in the spring next year and even then, the mini may be all I can afford! The thing with Macs is they work. Simple as that. I used PCs for years and constantly had issues with crashes and drivers etc. So I think the extra outlay for a Mac is worth it to me.
I am so blown away by your accent, clarity of thought, flair and lovely command of language. Sincerely I was thorn between listening to the subject and enjoying the melody of the voice. Good to have found your channel. Don’t worry the essence of your message or opinion was not lost on me, I was simply conflicted on which to concentrate more 😂 You just gained a subscriber!
I literally just came to the comments to say this, but found your comment. I have to commend the author with her tone of voice and use of language. I could listen to her speak all day. Also, appears not to be reading off a prompt. Kudos!
C.2:07 I thought I had a scratch in my screen but it was in fact your left earring. I have a studio m1 max that is fine with me. The dropping of usb A means a new hub will need to be purchased. CBF’d with that
Hi, may I ask you a tech nerd question? It's concerning your mic you are using. Your narration is crystal clear! Is it a concealed lav mic under your jumper? I have a small travel channel and cannot get clarity even close to yours. Plus you have next to zero room echo. You sound like you're in a BBC studio! How do you achieve zero echo and such crystal clear sound?! Are you then putting it through audio processing in post production to help? Thank you so much for any insights you have. Bill
Well it does show you that it doesn’t pay off to buy the high end version. We are at the point where buying the base to middle version is way more economical than buying the best one. It has been like that for some time now, but in the last weeks it has been cemented with the M4.
I’m glad I’ve waited to upgrade my 2013 iMac - I may even wait until the M4 Studio if I can! Excited for these for Logic - fellow musician here (singer, songwriter, composer, producer). You have a lovely voice and way with words as well! ❤
One of my favourite trivia facts from the old PC vs Mac days (the 1990's) is that Microsoft approached Brian Eno to create the startup sound for their new operating system, Windows 95. Brian said ok, went home, and made it on his Mac. Apple has always been a favourite of creatives. 😃
To be fair, back in 94/95, musicians like Eno were either MacOS or deeply within an Atari and/or hardware sequencer and sampler setup still. Wasn't until 97 and ASIO that many of us Atari/HW users made the choice to switch to MacOS or Windows for the studio. I'd say today, x86 and Windows/Linux has the edge when it comes to raw audio dsp performance, I get more done on the PC than my M2 Ultra, but just because it's around 30% faster. M4 i'm yet to test. Looking at some benchmarks Apple are still not quite in the big league with PC top end x86 workstations when it comes to outright performance, but it's definitely much closer now. It'd a great time for both architectures.
@@zyguli The thing is the creative types are generally not buying Apple for long-term backwards compatibility or performance necessarily like PC buyers are as this video proves. I'd say most Apple purchases are 50% vanity purchase (you have to be seen to be using Apple in the creative industries for some weird reason) and 50% you have to buy Apple because everyone else in the industry has bought Apple out vanity before you so there's a subconscious industry standard that's developed the last 30 years or so. End of the day when you want performance you buy a PC (Gamers, 3D graphics, Audio DSP, AI/Machine Learning etc) and when you need to be seen with a computer or look 'professional' you buy a Mac. I used to work in a video production place and could never work out why everyone had an iMac on their desk when some of the work being does was better suited and much faster on PC and the director said it was worth spending £27K more on macs and losing 30% productivity because when a potential client walks through the door it looks more professional. Actual ROI losses in one way were offset by what he thought was more contracts for higher values. It's a strange world.
@@SamHocking I have to disagree with most of your comments. Vanity?!!!!! I don't give a hoot about the badge on the box, but if as a user you are even one percent artistic, you'll recognise the beauty in using the Apple interface. It's not all about grunt. Believe me, it's not.
@@rossdonald594 I own and work with Windows & MacOS for music production, there really isn't any difference and the OS or even hardware itself isn't what I'm interacting with other than to click and icon to open the actual application I'm working with, so for music, all I care about is how much audio DSP can I keep realtime rather than bouncing, when video editing all i care about is the time i'm waiting to render or not using proxy media and when working in anything AI based all I care about is learning and inference time. The tasks I have to do each day that require me to use either the windows pc or mac mini comes mostly down to if the software exists for windows or not. The pc and mac just sits in a rack with the other gear.
Looks great, but how much for a complementary monitor? I love Apple products, but a little annoyed that my 2017 27” Mac, 5K resolution, 24GB of ram, 1TB SSD, $3000, is no longer supported for updates! Can’t even buy a Mac mini and use it as a monitor.
I am a big fan of your content, but the sound quality here took my fandom to the next level! What a treat for the ears! I also really like your focus and perspective on the new Mac desktops. Cheers!
Apple has been shafting the pro users for years. I remember buying a Mac Pro Intel for £1770 in about 2007. A machine with CPUs you could replace, RAM you could upgrade. 4 drive bays. PCI express slots, wifi and bluetooth modules you could add. A proper pro machine.
I have one of those (I want to say it's an 08, but I haven't touched in in years) - worked like a charm until they decided you couldn't upgrade the OS anymore (actually - it still works, you just can't upgrade any apps) I almost hacked in install image to allow it to upgrade (since the ONLY thing preventing the upgrade was one line of text in one install file)
I have an M2 Studio.. 32GB of RAM/512GB SSD out of the box. I'd love to buy an M4 Mini but I have no use case for it... I would love to set it up as a mail server but I can't get a static IP address from my ISP and I have to live with their crappy email filtering.
No more excuses for not flowing freely. :-) You're doing fine with the Studio, it seems. I got the Mac Mini M4 Pro version with 24 GB RAM, but then I'm upgrading from the iMac Pro, which served me very well since 2017.
"freed up so much mental space" - I think that is what has really impacted me since getting a MacBook Pro for editing etc. ..I've edited tons on a really beefy PC, but it just can't complete with the freed up mental space I get with the MacBook...
I was just about to buy the Mac Studio, when the m4 mini was released holy sh*t. its wild. 32gb ram m4pro , 5 inches by 5 inches, silent, I tried hitting it hard with 8k footage, 34 instances of Helix native in logic, etc, didn't even fuss ! Apple is on another level
A maxed out new Mini (M4 Pro 10 P cores, 4 E cores, 64 GB RAM) is going to be better in most ways compared to a 12.5% more expensive base model Studio with 12 core M2 Max, 8 slower P cores, 4 E cores, 64 GB RAM, but the Studio can be taken FAR ABOVE the Mini with M2 Ultra (24 cores, 16 P, 8 E, 192 GB RAM) for 2.5x the price. I don't know which Studio Mary has, and the new Mini will be enough for many people. Personally I'm still delighted with my original 2020 M1 Mini with 4 P cores and 4 E cores and 16 GB RAM for my web browsing and running the UIs remotely for my x86 workhorses (32 core Threadripper water cooled tower PC with 128 GB RAM, and 24 core i9-13900HX laptop with 32 GB RAM (soon 64)) and my numerous RISC-V and Arm SBCs.
@@BruceHoult tbf the benchmark stats of the m4 pro mini fully spec actually wreck the M2 Max studio. The M2 Ultra pro cheese grater fully specced beat the m4 pro, obviously, but you're paying 4-5 times the price and it doesn't wreck it; its about 15% faster in rendering, single core is about 11% better, it's also literally 25 times the size haha. the m4 pro mini is insane. I was about to drop a big chunk on the higher spec Mac Studio or pro, but the people in the Apple Store literally showed me the benchmark specs on geek bench, which is insane as their job is to sell a more expensive product they made a little miracle right there
Apple's just on the same level as mini-PCs, no better, and worse for price/performance. Earlier this year I bought a mini-PC that's actually _smaller_ than the Mac Mini, with an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS (a processor now almost two years old, but benchmarks about dead even with the M4 10 Core), 32 GB RAM (64 GB max), three video outputs, two M2 drive slots, and a 1 TB SSD for about $700. That's a $100 more than the cheapest Mac Mini, but gives you more RAM and storage than the $1000 Mac Mini. The M4 Pro 12 Core is a little faster (less than 10%) than a Ryzen 9 7940HS (another typical mini-PC processor), but then again the 7940HS is a year and a half old now, not newly released. Mini-PCs with that are going for under $1000, with more RAM and storage than the $1400 Mac Mini with the M4 Pro. I get that there are other things about Apple that many people find great, but all the excitement over the new levels of CPU power is really just due to Apple over the past decade or more not providing particularly high-powered machines, and the hardware is still very poor value for money. (But of course you get the software, design, etc. for what you're paying, which appeals to many.)
@@MorfMusic I heard the new M4 Studios should be out in Q2, so it will be interesting to see how they perform. What I noticed when the M2 Studios came out is that they were similarly priced to the M1 versions. They seemed to price based on the higher or lower spec processor, not on the newer or older processor, so the lower spec M2 Ultra was priced the same as the lower spec M1 Ultra, but it had a similar core count to the higher spec M1 Ultra. Essentially, you could buy 2x the performance for the lower price if you got the M2 over the M1. If that hold true this time, we might see the Studios with way more performance available for similar prices.
I'm thrilled you are passionate about Apple products. I know so many people that hate Apple for no good reason. I've used Apple products since 1986. I have a Mac Museum in on corner of my office, as we have had most iterations of Apple products since then. The Silicon chips are amazing.
@@glowaves Fewer repairs than what? Don't be a fan-boy now. There's a lot to be impressed by Apple with, but reliability and repairability aren't in that list.
I think you hit the nail on the head with Apple’s understanding of the creative space with the launch of the Mac Mini, such an affordable entry into that space. I worked for an Apple reseller years ago when the coloured iMacs launched and the Powermac G4s. They were always the go to machines for audio and visual professionals, you just had to have a rather large wallet!
I got the M4 Mini (500GB, 24G RAM) and it is fantstic so far. Audio is rendered quickly and graphics and everything else runs without a hitch. The only complaint I have at this time is that BS that goes on when using plugins and transferring them over to a new machine. The Waves stuff I accumulated won't work on it, but the UAD, Izotope, and Softube stuff that I love, run like a top.
Definitely supporting you in Patreon now Mary. Your honesty with your Followers is beyond refreshing and your content excellent! Loved the Tour and felt part of it. Next Tour I truly hope to be a part of the crowd. Much Love and Respect from 🇨🇦
thanks for this, I had a 2021 Apple Mac & I found it frustrating as a long time user that it was so under spec-ed with just 2 USB C ports as someone who uses external storage, SIM cards etc that I had to buy so many adaptors etc. I always thought of a Mini but didn't know much about it (until now) :)
Subbed once you went sponsor free.... You do GREAT WORK!!! ....and you don't NEED to KEEP UP with anybody else or anything else.... honest. you can do 1080p one camera work and it's okay with a lot of us!
5:03 - _"...what I want from tech in 2024: tools that make me better at my craft, that eliminate friction, and elevate what I can achieve, and help me work at a speed no one else works at."_ This encapsulates my relationship with technology. I've been a Mac user since 1991 or so, and in many cases I'm the prototypical Apple user. I'm not overly concerned with specs and I've never been a gamer. What I want from computers, phones, tablets or cameras, is that they work properly and intuitively and help me be productive without requiring me to be an engineer. Oh, and almost exactly a year ago I was at that Passeig de Gràcia store.
I've been humming and hawing over a mini vs Studio decision … right up till I heard that Sequoia 15.1 finally and absolutely disallows the running of unsigned apps. For a fixed group of studio applications, this wouldn't bother me, but I use all sorts of unsigned apps in the course of my daily computing. So, I'm really at a loss to being able to buy a new Mac to use as a daily driver.
Still running my i5 2018 Mac Mini, only change was to upgrade it (myself) to 32gb RAM. Can't do that with newer models. I never over-stress the machine, but then any game playing is done on my xbox anyway, so it's just music and video on this thing really. The only thing that is likely to die is the SSD in the end. Until then, no real need to bother upgrading !
The best decision Mary I have been chatting to guitar great tech who follows you & both aware of the burnout on You Tube and where that leaves the performer slip away from what you supposed to be focusing on ! Yourself and what you want as a songwriter performer ! We both admire your voice and playing and hope this change will allow you the time to focus you’ x
Wow! Simple the reason that you want to support others growing in there creativity by give them a gear to open up there way, is simply great from you. Nearly everyone is just here to present the “myself”. Giveaways are mainly sponsored by companies. For me, this gesture itself, was a reason to subscribe to your channel. Hoping to see and listen more, from good people.
When the M4 Mac Studio drops tho! Then the M5 and M6 😰😄 We can think “this is so powerful it’ll last five years at least” but marketing and shiny new hype get many of us upgrading way before that. And again we tell ourselves “this time this is deffo last me years it’s so powerful!” Then we upgrade within a two years again. They sell themselves, we have to fight that urge. (Like buying that “one best beater or tool watch” for our taste, then another then another. Each time the lust and romance drawing us to a new “this will last a lifetime” purchase leaving us blind to the collection we already own and love that already ticks the same boxes. Buttt we don’t have a blue one yet, with an digital dial, and is solar 😄)
I've got an M2 Pro mac mini for graphic design, a bit of music and video, which I bought Just before the studio came out. At the time it was annoying that I didn't wait and save a little more but I love the thing so I'll keep it until OS support's dropped, maybe after then.
"The removal of friction from the creative process" But also the removal of ways to make an income.. Today's generation would be amazed at how much money even modestly famous artists, writers, film makers, made prior to the digital revolution, and the internet. Average budget for an indie Album 2025, £5000, 1997 £150,000.
I have to say that piece to camera was unexpectedly lyrical and up there with great poetry/rap. I think am a fan of yours already before checking out any of your other videos.
Gotta say that coming from a late 2012 27" imac rendering VS and Blender files that would take 12 to 30 minutes down to 0 to 5 secs on the MM m4PRO os bonkers
I have an M2 Max studio w/1 TB. I see absolutely zero need to upgrade it for my audio and video workflow. I’m not even close to making it break a sweat.
sometimes it's okay to say "one device is enough". I have one macbook and use it for everything. I used to love the Idea of having a mac mini, a laptop for on-the-go, an ipad for more portable production, but really... this was not an advantage for me. Transferring and managing files between the devices is a distraction. With one single capable laptop i keep things in one place and waste less time. Sold the mini
Traded in my M1 MacBook on the M4 Pro Mini. mad the M4 Pro really inexpensive. I'm sure the studio will be a monster, but without doing video editing, the M4 Pro should last me well until the M8 pro comes out, if not longer.
I’m more of a skeptic when it comes to Apple computers, being that I am able to build very powerful computers. However, I am looking at a Mac Mini as a secondary studio computer as a songwriting tool and to bridge the gap between my iPad Pro 11(M2) and my Windows machines. I am primarily a ProTools user, so I can use either OS, but there are some apps that are Apple only that I have found beneficial in the past.
When it comes to any kind of music production. Apple just works. I used to be the same way about windows. I always used it over apple because of perceived value over mac. But with the new Mac silicon chips. As long you got 16gb ram or more. The macs just work like a tank no matter what.
@@PooFace2030, I generally dislike proprietary computers, but I also dealt with that issue on PCs in the 90s. The problem is replacement parts are expensive under proprietary schemes, and when you spend half your monthly income on the computer alone, could become an issue. Apple does make quality products, admittedly, but having both setups can only be to my benefit as it would ensure no risk of downtime.
I totally concur with Mary! I am known globally as a Grammy Winning Nashville Recording Engineer/Producer, Studio Chief Engineer and Designer, Builder and System Integrator. I started as Guitarist at age 13 playing Carl Perkins’ “ 5:23 MatchBox”. I have 20 Apple Macs, including a M1 Mac Mini and I will soon buy the M4 Mac Mini for my Collection.
I resisted Apple for years but bought a MacBook Air M1 2 years ago. Logic is by far the best DAW I’ve ever used and I’d never go back to Windows for making music.
Mary, do be mindful of the advantages of CPU speed and power. That will help you to make sound decisions (pun intended!) in choosing to upgrade components.
The Mac Mini is just the starting point of the revamped product line. The new MacBook Pro and iMac models all have the same M4 chip, and could potentially serve your needs just as well. (And I suppose we’ll have an M4 Ultra version in the next Mac Studio.) The M2 and M3 were really iterative improvements on the M1, but the M4 is the point where they’ve managed yet another big leap.
Though not a spec review I enjoyed your view on the Mac mini and other offerings. So often I get slightly annoyed by tech reviewers acting like corporate news media, focusing on negatives and missing the positives. They’re often like “Why doesn’t it fly”. In this age of rapid tech innovation people have become a bit jaded and often don’t recognize the work, trial and error that goes into producing new capabilities in the hardware and software realms. I’m also excited about the new offerings and happy that I’ll be buying a few products at this time versus a year ago.
Great video. I dove into Mac's after I started making videos. I was at the mercy of an old Windows laptop. I pushed that old girl into oblivion. When it was time to upgrade, I decided I'd try a MacBook Pro. The difference in performance was stunning. Videos that took hours to render on the Windows computer took mere minutes using the MBP. Not long after getting my MBP, I started taking audio engineering classes. I was happy that I had some Mac experience as the systems at my college were all Mac. They integrate well with Pro Tools. I have based my home recording studio and mobile recording rig on Mac laptop's. I'm am using a 2015, 2.8, 16 1TB MBP for my mobile recording rig. Minimal investment. Maximum return! It was the best $100.00 I've ever spent. It's hard to believe that it retailed for nearly $3K when it was new back in 2015.

Yeah, that series had legs… None of my other apples had the longevity of that system…
Curious about what mic you are using - or is that upwards compression?
No problem.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts… I have been on the fence and decided to get one as well..
Still wondering if I should upgrade from my base M1 Studio to a M4 Mini. I use Davinci Resolve for video of meetups (1 hour long). Any thoughts?
Why do you use universal audio interface over rme audio interface?
The Apple ecosystem is amazing. I always feel like I have “one computer” but many different interfaces to it.
Lovely voice and pure beauty. Bless you. ❤
Old Mac Pro fully speced out $50,000, Mac studio M2 $5799, M4 Mac Mini $599, M8 Mac mini $59!
What microphone are you using? Your audio is really good
It might be a Shure SM7B.
Thank you for your brilliant review, Mary.
im in exactly the same boat 2011 iMac, maxed out ram and external hd, will wait until they make a 27" iMac or ill get an m4 stuido and a screen
you may want to look into opencore legacy patcher. If it has a metal GPU you could probably upgrade it to Sequoia. Check the details though. That one might be right on the borderline.
Will there be any plans to release the concerts on cd they were cracking shows
Superb Presentation Mary !!! Congratulations !!!
So I guess for my usecases I´ve found the best of 2 worlds.
same here, I have an M1 Macstudio, my first Apple PC for 30 years, but am still use Samsung phones, as I have for 10 years.
lol what “restrictions“?
Really wish she would have addressed these points.
Is this Mac Mini capable of blazing through Photoediting using Photoshop and Lightroom? A genuine query. As the last time I had an IMac is 2010.
Perhaps the most intelligent, kind and sincere Apple fan-person out there. Subscribed.
I am so blown away by your accent, clarity of thought, flair and lovely command of language. Sincerely I was thorn between listening to the subject and enjoying the melody of the voice.
Good to have found your channel. Don’t worry the essence of your message or opinion was not lost on me, I was simply conflicted on which to concentrate more 😂

C.2:07 I thought I had a scratch in my screen but it was in fact your left earring.
I have a studio m1 max that is fine with me.
The dropping of usb A means a new hub will need to be purchased.
CBF’d with that
Lovely articulation, presentation and crafted text, I’m now a subscriber, good stuff.
We'd heard most of the news about the size, the specs, the price, everything. But when it was released it was even more than expected.
I’m glad I’ve waited to upgrade my 2013 iMac - I may even wait until the M4 Studio if I can! Excited for these for Logic - fellow musician here (singer, songwriter, composer, producer). You have a lovely voice and way with words as well! ❤
The one thing I long for as is a 32 inch (or larger) 4k (or larger e.g. pro 4096x2160 17:9) professional monitor that is color grading quality...
It's great for creatives if they look for constant backward compatibility headaches.
I love you. Your content is simply sublime. Clear and poetic, soft and soothing to my ear. Wow! You just got a fan sub
Imo the 24GB ram version of the M4 mini is where it's at! Still great price and 50% more ram.
How much for 8Gig of Ram?
Would you believe me if I told you the algorithm is already targeting us well beyond what we’ve been told. Now ask why
You're doing fine with the Studio, it seems.
Did you memorize this or was this off the top of your head? Just curious
I was just about to buy the Mac Studio, when the m4 mini was released
holy sh*t.
I was about to drop a big chunk on the higher spec Mac Studio or pro, but the people in the Apple Store literally showed me the benchmark specs on geek bench, which is insane as their job is to sell a more expensive product
they made a little miracle right there
Apple's just on the same level as mini-PCs, no better, and worse for price/performance.
Fantastic video! So well-spoken, I felt engaged the entire video. 😊 Love the new Mac mini.
I'm thrilled you are passionate about Apple products. I know so many people that hate Apple for no good reason. I've used Apple products since 1986. I have a Mac Museum in on corner of my office, as we have had most iterations of Apple products since then. The Silicon chips are amazing.
There is a good reason. They're designed to be near impossible to repair.
@@leeray666 But need far fewer repairs.
Just purchased one yesterday. Will be using it for multi platform development along side Windows.
I still use my MacPro tower from 2009. Works amazingly great. Just as fast as my M2 Mac laptop, but sadly no OS support any longer.

thanks for this, I had a 2021 Apple Mac & I found it frustrating as a long time user that it was so under spec-ed with just 2 USB C ports as someone who uses external storage, SIM cards etc that I had to buy so many adaptors etc. I always thought of a Mini but didn't know much about it (until now) :)
USB hub is your friend!
I have an Apple Studio M2 Max and I just bought the Mac Mini M4. Amazing machines.
Wait, u live in Barcelona???
Subbed once you went sponsor free.... You do GREAT WORK!!! ....and you don't NEED to KEEP UP with anybody else or anything else.... honest. you can do 1080p one camera work and it's okay with a lot of us!
Very clear. Is it her microphone or her voice? 😅 my first time on this channel.
Mary, I could listen to you read the phone book, but talking tech… you have my heart.
You will not be left behind Mary, you are a creative force and you're probably just hitting your stride.
I just barely paid off my M1 Macbook Pro. I plan on running it until either it dies or can no longer be updated.
Just got your CD and it is awesome, thanks!! Very tempted to get it on vinyl. Also, I love my iMac and how it brings my home studio together.
Then the M5 and M6 😰😄
We can think “this is so powerful it’ll last five years at least” but marketing and shiny new hype get many of us upgrading way before that.
"The removal of friction from the creative process" But also the removal of ways to make an income.. looking forward to the m4 studio . hopefully it be out early 25 ... great video
The new MacMini M4 is a very very good machine, I will be updating my 2019 16" MBP to the M4 pro spec
I got a Mac mini M1 about 4 years ago with the same idea. It and Apple slowly took over. Wish I had made the move years ago.

We live in amazing times, it’s true. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.
Mary, do be mindful of the advantages of CPU speed and power. That will help you to make sound decisions (pun intended!) in choosing to upgrade components.
Really well said. I only work in podcast and am ecstatic about the way Apple has revolutionized my world. That new Mini is unbelievable!!
