    This tool is great and the XWT17 mid torque is also amazing. Makita for the win big time. The 12v and 18v ratcheting wrench is also a great automotive must have.

    I think some great footage to include is how this "compact" impact driver fits in an engine bay. That will show whether or not the head or battery will interfere with getting bolts out of a cramped setting. If you still have this tool that would be a great video

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the great idea. I will incorporate that next time I do an impact wrench video. The compactness is one of my favorite things about this impact. I don't have this one anymore, but my dad does so I can get it no problem. I've upgraded to a little bigger one only because my dad has this one in case one of us needed a little more power for some reason. Plus I can do a new video lol

      I think it's so weird that the XDT14 doesn't since it has more then one speed where as the XDT13 is more of a basic one speed impact. But maybe they consider the XDT14 an upgrade to the 13 and the XDT16 and upgrade to the 12.

    I have a 3/8" XDWT16 and it works fine for lug nuts too! Great size, I love the thing! It's loud on them lug nuts though, but I use my 1/2" Ingersoll Rand pneumatic for those :p. I can't wait to get the 1/4" & 3/8" swappable cordless ratchet next!
    Also, the variable speed setting... I remember reading somewhere in the descriptions that one of them was stepped digital speeds and the other emulates a pure analog trigger. I could be wrong though.
    And dont double (or more) click your torque wrench. One click, and stop. You're adding extra torque when you double-click, and wearing down your wrench quicker, meaning it's less accurate sooner.
    Edit: i was way off, lol. Guess I was confusing with something else. From Maktia's site, on the XWT16Z page:
    "Full speed mode function reduces trigger pull to reach full speed"
    And:
    "The electronically-controlled brushless motor efficiently uses energy to match torque and RPM to the changing demands of the application"

      No worries, Makita has so many different impact drivers and wrenches and they do so many things, I have a hard time remembering what does what 😅
      Nice I bet that ratchet will be really nice. I see a lot of guys love the ratchets no matter the brand just as a super useful too. If I did more mechanical work I'd get one but I'm trying not to wrench in things these days lol

    Just got this with the 1-1/8” sds drill kit + vac, and they threw in a 5.0. Really considering this or keeping my m12 stubby. And I’m a HUGE Milwaukee fan but lately I’ve been getting into makita. I also have the m18 mid torque last gen, but really considered getting the Xwt17z to replace, rather than the new gen m18 mid torque. Recently purchase makita rear handle to replace m18 rear handle. Lol what is happening to me.

      Your not the first to use a Makita and then slowly start switching all your tools over. Their impacts and like handled tools fit so well in the hand and also work really good in my opinion. SDS is on my bucket list. Glad you are liking your new tools.

      @@tgltoday2717 yeah that sds deal was $479 at the depot. Hell of a deal. Could not pass it up. I watched vids from Shop tool reviews on the stubby and the makita in this vid of yours. Both are great. Milwaukee hits about 350 ft/lbs nut busting, and it’s a smaller form factor, so will just keep that one, sell the makita. But seriously considering the new makita mid torque to replace my m18 mid torque, rather than get the new m18 mid torque.

      Most of us will eventually end up with Makita, my advice to newcomers is to not waste money on intermediate brands, go straight to Makita XGT 40 volt. Seems like a steep price but since you will end up there anyway you can save money by going directly. So thats my advice, go straight to Makita and Audi. And Chinese girls, but it was already kinda too late when i found that out.

      Its not uncommon. My dads Focus was ruined by an unskilled employee at a shop, lugnuts were so tight that they made a loud squeeking sound for the first 180 degrees, i just tightened it back on and convinced him to trade in the car, too much bolt damage, 20 bolts. Later the same shop was gonna change a wheel on my old x-over suv, i insisted to assist/oversee the job, they said customers not allowed inside, so i changed the wheel outside with my own tools and never dealed with them again.

    240 ft lbs isn't mid torque

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. Up until the recent release of the xwt18, Makita didn't have a true mid torque that I'm aware of and this was what filled the gap. Dewalt's mid torque is 330 ft lbs but Makita's new xwt18 is 520 ft lbs. So as the new one's come out, the numbers keep going up and what we once thought of as mid torque numbers just are not anymore. I'm guessing Dewalt and the rest will now try to match Makita's new one and then there current mid torques won't be considered mid torque anymore I'm thinking. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
