I have that impact wrench i have no complaints had it for 3 years and it has paid for it's self. This tool is also very reliable and smooth compared to others ive used

LifeTime warranty is pretty sweet on the Metabo but if the Makita never fails, I prefer the reliability . I’ve used my Makita tools for 30 years and I’ve only had to replace one angle grinder after my worker totally abused it and didn’t clean it after working with stone. Just bought my first makita impact wrench to leave in my SUV as I’ve changed 2 tires in 1 week on my wife’s Camry . Manual work is difficult. Using an impact wrench cut my tire changing time in 2/3.

So is the Metabo HPT the winner here with the lower price point, better warranty and IP56 rating? Or will the Makita still hold its own with a (subjectively) better quality and higher torque rating?

I'm going with the Makita because I'm on the platform and I just live working with Makita tools takes that fatigue away from always having a tool in your hand because of the great ergonomics of Makita

Why? The reverse torque for one and an anvil for 1/2” impact sockets vs 1/4” with a socket adapter you loose torque. Makita also will last a looong time.

It's a shame Makita did a price increase this month and the same time layoffs for Makita USA.

It's a shame, and the big reason why I am talking about price on this tool is there is never (if any) sales or deals on impact wrenches, seems they always stay near MSRP.

I would say they have more robust internals, bigger motor, and lower manufacturing series regarding the higher price

yea it's that. These two impact wrenches advertise 220+/- ft-lbs of torque while the makita xdt19z impact driver, which he mentioned as being comparable to the xwt15 in size(actually probably about half the volume of the guts), only produces about half that, peaking at 133.. The comparable dewalt and milwaukee drivers will get higher torque but they also have tendency to break 1/4" hex bits.
