  • I've had the egr valve disconnected for awhile but decided to go ahead and remove it to clean things up a bit.

    Where did you get the kit? I can't find a kit specific to the W123.

    What is that clamp you used on the exhaust plug called? All the kits I've seen don't come with a clamp.

      That clamp will already be on the car. You're just reusing it. It's technically called an "exhaust clamp". Here it's clamping a rather small exhaust manifold.

    Can this be done with even less labor or expense for people who are lean on basic mechanical ability? Asking for a friend who is too far from me to help her. Would removing and plugging the vac lines get the same affect as long as the EGR wasn't stuck open or is it just not the same result? What about leaving everything in place and just inserting the block off plate? Would that single plate address everything if the whole system remained intact?

      Probably, it’s just a metal plate, a core plug may could be used to plug the pipe. I had the vacuum line just plugged and it worked just fine. I just wanted to cleanup the engine bay a bit and remove it. As long as the egr isn’t leaking plugging the vacuum line should work fine.

    What noticeable benefit did you notice after doing this modification. I have some idea but I would like to hear your observation. Thank you.

      Didn’t notice any benefit. I already had the vacuum lines unhooked. I just did it to cleanup the engine compartment and just in case the egr was leaking. But I do not think it was.

    I’m looking to take off the big can that the CA 300SD has it kills a lot of power from the car and creates more heat under the hood

      The catalytic converter? Easiest way to remove would be to pull the parts of a parts car.

    Was there an exhaust leak with this kit ?

    What does the egr valve do?

    • @mjmcomputers
      @mjmcomputers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Recirculates exhaust gasses back into the intake to be rebutted. But it causes carbon buildup in the intake.

    Is your time worth more than 20 bucks? Could you have made the kit yourself?

    • @mjmcomputers
      @mjmcomputers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could have made the kit but for that price I’d rather do something else.
