This is simply adjusting the ALDA on top of the injection pump. Doing this does *not* "turn the pump up" at all. The only thing that the ALDA does on an OM617 is limit off-boost fueling to reduce smoke on acceleration. I have my ALDA completely removed, EGR deleted, full 2.5" straight pipe, cold air intake, etc, and my car barely makes any smoke at all, even under hard acceleration. If you want to actually "turn the pump up" you have to remove the whole injection pump from the engine and modify the internal adjustments. Deleting the rack-limiter is the most common way to achieve "roll coal" status. Bigger pump elements help also, as well as rebuilding your injectors with new Monark nozzles and having them balanced and pop-pressure set correctly.
The revs of my engine when u in the last gear don't match l can hardly reach 90 km an hour and if l do so the revs will be very high u will think the engine will blow up and it loses power.what might be the problem please help the engine is a 300d, this engine is in my truck and it is supposed to reach it's top speed 140km an hour without the revs going very high.
I'm not so sure you actually you turn your injectionpump up by adjusting that screw to the top. The only thing you adjusting there is the smoke-limiter. It makes the injectionpump to not allow full amount of fuel until you begin to get higher pressaure from the turbo so the car whont get more fuel than it can burn on low turbopressaure. Yes the car will accelerate betther and it will be a little more blacksmoke until the turbocharger begin to build up pressaure but will the total fuel amount be any more well I'm not so sure, I think you'll have to get inside the pump and thats a whole different story.
Haha thanks. I adjusted on the same screw on my 300 turbo a few years ago. The car got better but then I talked to a guy nearby who has done pretty much everything on he's om617. He knows all there is to know about old mb diesels and he said to increase fuel on the original turboinjection pump you have remove the pump and get inside it and then adjust several things. The injectionpump on a om 617, 88 hp whitout turbo is said to be a lot easier.

hey, i just installed some rebuilt fuel injectors and noticed theres some smoke on acceleration. Adjusting the alda will eliminate that?
