    I like you as you explain every detail and have a high quality control standard which resonates with me.
    After all, that’s one of the many reasons why I bought Mercedes.
    Mine is 2008 S320 cdi with OM642 engine. It’s an old car which was privately imported by a previous owner from the UK.
    I’m in Australia.
    Keep up the excellent work.

    I had the blocking plate blow out causing a complete loss of boost. Its not a fun feeling when you starve the engine of air because your turbo is not spooling up. Just keep plug the vacuum line to the EGR valve. Use the block off plate between the EGR and intake manifold. This was on an OM602

    I think some kits come with a plug that has a "freeze plug" like design that is pressed in... id seem to think using a pressin plug with a plate over it would be best 🤔

    Seems like one could cut the flange off the end of the original corrugated EGR pipe and then weld a plate onto it. Then the original clamp could be used to hold this home made blocking plate against the exhaust manifold port.

    Better off keeping the pipe connected but still using the blanking plate as well.
    On visual inspection know-one would know......but it will stop the flow & that's what's important...... The kit is designed to keep the egr pipe on the engine.

      I wanted visual satisfaction of that shit being gone…otherwise you are right..just put plate between…no one will ever know...

      Two people will be happy/none-the-wiser you plugged the flow but left the apparatus in it's place...
      ...A future buyer (not familiar with your methods).
      ...and in the off-chance the CA DMV changes it's mind, and requires a diesel to be inspected...you won't have to replace all the kit.

    I know it was a while ago this was posted but I was hoping to get some advice regarding a similar job on a OM642 in a 2008 Jeep CRD, will I need to get a tune or ECU work to blank?

    I installed a BB in the egr valve vacuum hose. The egr valve will never open as long as the BB is in the control line. :-)

    Would it not be better to leave the EGR in place? Put the disc (looks like a welsh plug) under the pipe and re-clamp?

    what i am planning to do for my kits is have a metal gasket and have the round cap have like a lip to go over the pipe like how the original style pipe that is removed. this way it wont bend and have leaks. i will try and work on this asap

    I believe you put the exhaust piece on backwards? That should have went beveled Side in no?

    hi, on a 1996 c 250 turbodiesel, what do i do with the vacum pipe that conectes to the egr valve?

    Did you ever come up with a better block off plate for the exhaust manifold? Also, I did mine a couple years ago and didn't know I was supposed to put gasket maker there. Guess I'll go back and do that, though I hate to risk moving it, since it seems to be happy how it is. I remember having a hard time getting it perfectly centered.

    Is there any problems with doing this on a 1990-93 W124 Turbo 2.5L ?
    Like any computer problems, codes or issues with turbo if you do it?
    What kit do you use.
    Just some people say 1990-93 are controlled by a computer?

    I would cut the flange on the original EGR pipe and install it over the blocking plate to squeeze the blocking plate a little more. It looks like that blocking plate is too thin for the clamp... What do you think Diesel Mercedes?

    I got an ebay kit but for om606 and had same problem with that blanking plate. It leaked. I'm going to make my own and use copper because it is easy to shape.

    Good job and video. I am going to bet that the round plate performed perfectly fine, and still is. It just did not look perfect . . . am I right Diesel Man?

    Hey there, Diesel Mercedes. Love your videos, they are so informative and helpful. I have a 1987 300D German import Non-Turbo Om603.912 engine. I'm wondering if the German versions have EGR's on them, I know the EGR's went into place in the American market versions. I'm wondering if they're on my version as well. Thanks!

      Riley Newton There may well be an EGR on german import. I know because mine has one (W124 300D Turbo, '92)

    If I take the EGR off, the computer will recognize and shut down boost. How do I get around this?? :) (1993 om602.962)

      David, on your '93 you have to convert the turbo to a pressure activated wastegate. It's not a simple procedure, and it may be difficult to find the right actuator now, but it is possibly the best thing you will ever do on your car! Lots of reading, but most all you need to know can be found in this link.

      Your intake manifold stays clean and engine oil.
      I want to mine but engine light will go on.

    this is not a good idea because you will have now a big pumping looses in your engine and it will not be so economical any more. Ask engineers ! Why do you think they put egr valve on a diesel engines ?
