John 346XIt's rare to see Consumer Reports testers have so much fun and to truly love driving a car like this. I tested competition including BMW, Lexus, Acura, Volvo, and newer Infiniti and the G37 provides a great balance of performance, luxury and feel compared to the others. It's got great acceleration, rotation in turns, and steering feel. I was shocked that the steering felt better in the G than in all of the competition list above. I've now owned a G37 for a year and it always brings a smile to my face when driving it, truly engaging. As far as repairs, oil change and tire rotations and that's it. Great car, great reliability.
this is the first video that consumer reports has done that i have seen where they didnt complain about EVERYTHING. im surprised there is a vehicle that they actually had good things to say about and didnt nit pick it to death
sat haire if you keep up with service and preventatively maintain, it should be very reliable! when I bought mine, it’s starter went out just a few days later. thankfully they replaced it under CPO warranty😅. otherwise, it’s been amazing.
Why the hell would anyone buy a 3 series when you could have this for two thirds of the price? Not to mention it's a nicer car IMO anyways and it will be far more reliable and cheaper to own
I have a 2013 G37X, bought it in October 2016. I love the car. While it has a decent ride and is fairly quite, it's an involving car- not isolated and numb like Lexus and some Acura cars I've driven. I like the Bose stereo (though I added a 12 inch sealed sub, I mean, after all...) and the nav system is the easiest, most rational car GPS I've ever used. Just a great car.
I own the Infiniti G37x with all wheel drive and it's simply amazing in the turns and in poor weather. I drive about 100 miles a day and I use to hate it, now I look forward to the drive and if there is traffic I hit the Nav system and cruise the back rounds and love it. I highly recommend the car. No buyers remorse here. Have a great day!
Me: Middle-aged white man in a button down and business casual salesman pants? This guy is not gonna do this car justice. Guy: 0:41 *puts on helmet*. Me: wh- what are you doing.
@WoZIMoo yes the vq35 was engineered and assembled in Japan, but it was also cheapened buy Renault in France ( to make it more profitable). So now this jewel of an engine suffers from management decisions to lower it's reliability. As a result these engines now have expensive oil consumption issues timing chain guide issues, NVH issues. Their not as reliable as they use to be thanks to Renault.
Wow, Infiniti's certainly come a long way since the 90s. I'm grad student now, but hope that in the distant future, I can get a well-equipped 3 series, but BMW and their German brethren charge a lot for what they give. This infiniti seems to be a better value package that preserves much of the same essence as the 3-series. My future upscale car may be something like this. The extra room helps too, since I'm over 6 feet.
I love this car! I test drove it once at a Nissan Dealer & it's amazing. The seats are very comfortable & it's very fast! The seats in my 2007 Altima are comfortable, but are even more in this car. My Altima is very fun & has great performance, but I hope to own a car like this someday.
Jake!!!, ive seem him drift other cars on here,, he does it on every test he can if the cars capable lmao he drifted a tesla lol... and i test drove a G37 it drifts well effortlessly
@4MATICbenz LOL thats probably because they've been driving it on the track: flooring it and power slides, going above 60 mph will stop being fuel efficient =/
@TeamEpsilonRacing Doesnt the 335i only have 300 HP Im pretty sure the G37 coupe has a 330 HP engine, I beleive thats about the same HP found in your 2004-2006 BMW M3 coupes.
@TeamEpsilonRacing i agree. but still, its like comparing Mac to PC. no comparison, cause they're pretty different. BMW's are more for the experience and simplicity, everything just clicks and is effivient, like a Mac, G37 is more for the technical specs and power crammed into a cheap package, like a PC. but thats why i would buy the G37, cause its just technically more for less.
@123Giller Volvo S60? What? I love the new Volvo, but what? Quality? Nothing soft touch about the plastics, huh? I guess that's why I can make an impression into the material with my finger
@dantek121 335i has more hp and it is faster everything in fact about it is better except the price dont get me wrong i love the G but after driving a bmw u start to realize why they cost more there is just that feeling that you cant explain
@bonnhew haha you obviously don't know what you're talking about, g37 can be sedan or coupe it's a frickin model, g37's can be both sedan and coupes from the year 08-10 do your research
@97I30T 3 series = Status symbol, 50/50 weight distribution (handles much better then any Infinity) and don't even mention the price difference because most BMW's are driven by people who are well off and don't mind paying extra for that status symbol. Infinity 37 model = It's just a Nissan. Nothing prestigious about it. Yes, it has a faster engine and its more reliable and cheaper to own but once again, its just a Nissan. Point being, most ppl prefer status over speed.
Dude you have no Idea of what are you talking about! The Infiniti's VQ engine is much better than any Chrysler, Ford or Chevy engine ever made! Infiniti has one of the top notch interiors in the business, every surface you touch is soft and nice. The interiors in Chrysler, Ford or Chevy cars are full of cheap plastic! If you want a good car go for Infiniti, if you want cheap plastics and space age looking cars... go for Chrysler or Ford or Chevy!
The only problem with the Infiniti I find is, they just are not up to par with other Japanese manufacturers as far as reliability goes. I would check out the Lexus models or Acura or even the Toyota Camry SE with the powerful V6. Much better car and a lesser price. Stay away from any american built cars because they are all bad news.
cheapest interior ever.............nothing soft touch about the plastics, you feel like you're in a civic with leather seats. Can't touch the new Volvo S60 in quality
The best Consumer Reports video ever. Totally calm while he's drifting the absolute shit out of that G37! Had me dying.
...easy to control.....>>SCREECH! SMOKE!>SQUEEEAL! ROAR! SMOKE!
Damn, who would have thought Consumer Reports would have a driver who could drift.

I just bought the 09 G37 Journey with 40,500 miles on it for $18K a month ago. This car is awesome to drive, so far so good!
MrINFINITI8 how has the reliability been so far ? I am thinking about purchasing a 2010 g37s
sat haire if you keep up with service and preventatively maintain, it should be very reliable! when I bought mine, it’s starter went out just a few days later. thankfully they replaced it under CPO warranty😅. otherwise, it’s been amazing.
I love it... nonchalant voice: "Nice steering....good interior..." SCREECH! SMOKE! "Very good handling...nice to drive..." ROARRRRR! SCHREEEEECH!
Wow, that was a crazy sick powerslide!
Why the hell would anyone buy a 3 series when you could have this for two thirds of the price? Not to mention it's a nicer car IMO anyways and it will be far more reliable and cheaper to own

Some solid drift for a CR review lol. Much appreciated!

DONT TRY THIS AT HOME...U MEAN I CANT DRIVE LIKE THAT IN MY KITCHEN?
I wasn’t ready for that drifting!...
dude just compared this to a miata!! YOURE FIRED!
Me: Middle-aged white man in a button down and business casual salesman pants? This guy is not gonna do this car justice.
Guy: 0:41 *puts on helmet*.
Me: wh- what are you doing.
No. G35 means the 3.5 Liter Engine, coupe or sedan. The G37 means the 3.7 Liter engine, sedan or coupe.
@WoZIMoo yes the vq35 was engineered and assembled in Japan, but it was also cheapened buy Renault in France ( to make it more profitable). Wait, so the VQ35 is the good one, but the 37 is Renault? I thought that the original VQ35s in the 2003-2006 G's also had the oil consumption issue.
should I buy the 4 door or 2 door? I like them both!

I wish it had a flashier or stronger front end. Otherwise, perfect.
@xarozvette ..... the 3.5/3.7 is a renault design engine
keep an eye out for the 2011 g37 coming out soon. it's just a facelift.
Why does it have those yellow head lights?? I want the blue ones!
what the cost new and used
@topgearulz Jeremy Clarkson is wrong, the VQ35 was designed by Nissan, in Japan.
so its kinda like USC vs. Harvard, right?
Was I the only one who got the Dr.Jeckle joke at the end?
How reliable are these long termv
the VQ nissan motor is very reliable , capable of 200k plus miles.
@4MATICbenz LOL thats probably because they've been driving it on the track: flooring it and power slides, going above 60 mph will stop being fuel efficient =/
my dad has this car and its one of the best cars ive been in its great!
@TeamEpsilonRacing Doesnt the 335i only have 300 HP Im pretty sure the G37 coupe has a 330 HP engine, I beleive thats about the same HP found in your 2004-2006 BMW M3 coupes.
Is there am auxiliary
He didn't mentionlack of trunkspace and very little head room in the rear seat. If it were an American car that would have never been overlooked.
GET THAT SKYLINE SIDEWAYS!!!!
@edukatedhustlerz Yeah...and? That's quite the compliment. The Miata is a hoot to drive.
@Mr98supra
Because he doesn't do most of the actual driving. They get actual drivers to do that.
@TeamEpsilonRacing i agree. but still, its like comparing Mac to PC. no comparison, cause they're pretty different. I love this car, one of the best values you can get, the 335i has less hp and costs way more. But of corse the Bmw is way more of a driver's car. :)
@retrospex I had the same helmet when I was 12 and had a scooter.
@123Giller Volvo S60? What? I love the new Volvo, but what? Quality?
Nothing soft touch about the plastics, huh? I guess that's why I can make an impression into the material with my finger
were thinking of getting this car.
I would almost say space age looking cars would be more Infiniti, the other mentioned auto makers look just boxy and cheap.
Looks like its the G35 being tested. I have one that looks just like that one.
@dantek121 335i has more hp and it is faster everything in fact about it is better except the price dont get me wrong i love the G but after driving a bmw u start to realize why they cost more there is just that feeling that you cant explain
I have 2013 G37XS. The handling is superb. The only gripe I have is the power delivery, it is not very linear.
elaborate?
It's damn linear to me!!! What do you mean??
@bonnhew haha you obviously don't know what you're talking about, g37 can be sedan or coupe it's a frickin model,
g37's can be both sedan and coupes from the year 08-10 do your research
its perfect i want one so bad!
@rahulthestudt What are you talking about???
Pause at 1:52, this test car was apparently averaging 7 mpg. lol
Geez, i thought it was only a V6....
your obviously not biased.
Im getting this for my first car :)
There's a G37 sedan....New for 2009. And it's faster than the coupe.
this review made an error. it's not 300 hp, but 330hp. that's a SUBSTANTIAL mistake.
he was handling that car i need to do it...to rough though
@97I30T 3 series = Status symbol, 50/50 weight distribution (handles much better then any Infinity) and don't even mention the price difference because most BMW's are driven by people who are well off and don't mind paying extra for that status symbol. Ive had this car, and Acura TL, Acura MDX and now a BMW 3Series as far as luxury cars. and out of all of them I think I Love my 3series the most!!!!!
Damn i wish i had this carrrr
@ironchopstckjs
he said "over 300 hp" clean your dirty ears
Infiniti best in class
Классная тачка!!! И по супер цене!!
Great car
Dude you have no Idea of what are you talking about!

It doesn't drive, look or even feels like Mazda Miata. This car is for those, who don't want Mazda Miata and they damn sure of it.
@parthshin Get it!
Toyota Camry, Acura, and Lexus= handles like a tractor
199rch lmfao that was just fucken hilarious! :0
The only problem with the Infiniti I find is, they just are not up to par with other Japanese manufacturers as far as reliability goes. 2 door! g37s!
actually he does hes right about the reliability there not as reliable as other cars they will actually cause you alot of problems in the future
@xxtwisted21xx yep. Happens to me when I floor it. xD
oh man you got him there. LOL.
a Mazda Miata with 4 doors!? sign me up!
very ugly front end, looks like a maxima
cheapest interior ever.............nothing soft touch about the plastics, you feel like you're in a civic with leather seats. Can't touch the new Volvo S60 in quality
this is a G35 .. only the coupe's are called G37
Worst review I've seen so far.
I love it... nonchalant voice: "Nice steering....good interior..." SCREECH! SMOKE! "Very good handling...nice to drive..." ROARRRRR! SCHREEEEECH!
