I just picked up a 2012 g37 a few days ago. Seems to be a really nice car. These problems that you mentioned don't seem too bad either pretty glad to hear that.
Other common issues: Sunroof overflow leaks and other rubber/plastic parts deteriorating, valve cover gasket leak, worn hood and trunk struts, clogged oil pans, and the notorious gallery gasket issue (not exclusive to 08 to 12). Stock head units feel dated and aftermarket options are sketchy (wish I knew about this beforehand). All this being said: My coupe is my baby and I still love her. Just gotta keep in mind they are older, and even with them being solid cars, parts will need to be replaced.
i bought a g37x coupe new in 2011, its become a winter beater now for me, after i bought a supra in 2022. Ive kept it in great shape and only has 78k miles but infiniti/nissan used some shitty materials when they made it. Even though I applied protectants regularly, used a sun shade, and kept the car clean at all times, the car now has chipping paint from some of the silver pieces, my dashboard has a sticky feel in certain areas, the plastics and trim have aged poorly. The stock head unit also really sucks if you don't have a navigation package. I can't stream music from my phone via bluetooth, and since i dont have an iphone i cant even connect my phone to the car via usb to even charge it. Also, theres not even an aux input so my phone is pretty much useless in that car. The transmission sucks too, the shifts are so slow compared to modern sports coupes/sedans. I enjoyed the car when it was new and have done a decent amount of mods to improve it and those have helped, but for the past couple of years, it still feels too outdated. The car is also almost worthless now, was told i could prob only get 12k if i sold it myself lol. Which is why i didnt get rid of it, and decided to use it as a 2nd car for the winter. I would rec someone not a buy a high mileage G series. Better off getting something more modern, even if it has less power.

Shit I’d be happy with that. Can you elaborate when you say “paying for maintenance”? Like basic stuff? Like Oil changes and break, tires, exc.
2010 G37 Convertible 7AT Owner and honestly... it has been one of the best cars I have ever owned it has an ageless design inside and out in my opinion. Only flaw is the V6 7AT initial throttle response lag, but a quick fix! Do yourself a favor and buy a PedalCommander, deletes that response lag and makes your car feel more alive. Other than that, the steering wheel paint thing is definitely annoying seen it on a few friends (not mine luckily) but not the worst! Just go for that 2012 model if possible to avoid the possible galley gasket failure.
I got a 08 G37s coupe, I hear about the infamous galley gasket issue. Man I hope that don’t happen to mine. I’m at 97k. All seems good. What would I have to watch out for, for a heads up on it?

For how much ? I’m currently thinking about buying a 2012 with 60k miles everything seems clean no rips dents , clean title , from dealer but it’s 15k . Is that too little or too much??
Besides the steering wheel and AT lag everything else isn't that common that you mentioned. What you did forget was pre 2012 models have the gallery gasket issues.
I bought a 2011 MT sedan with 56k miles thinking that it'll last for 200+k miles but didn't realize it's gonna be a money pit in the process. Although it's a fun car, it definitely isn't cheap to run. Sold it at 86k miles. It was already leaking oil from the timing chain cover...I definitely miss the car granted it disappointed me after just three years.
I need to replace the gallery gasket on me and my wife’s 2008 Infiniti G37 type s coupe. Beat thing to do is get an after market metal gasket. The oem gallery gasket is made of a material that deteriorates all the time.
#1 should be Galley / Gallery Gaskets. #2 for the manuals should be RJM Clutch Pedal to fix the pedal and get yourself a reliable Tilton Clutch Master Cylinder. #3 should be removing the Sunroof Drain Filters, they’re pointless and gives you water leaks on interior. Extend the hose a little and welcome to dry interior. #4 should be, removing the 3 bolts that hold up the sunroof instead of waiting for them to gradually get loose, putting a minor dab of locktite and retightening them up. Then everything else you mentioned big dawg! ❤
I drive a G37 IPL, and am very pleased. Performance: my best 1/4 time is 14.4 seconds. The G has plenty of torque, but the final drive ratio is less than perfect for 1/4 mile times. The G shifts from 4th to 5th gear just before the finish line. So I am crossing the finish line at the bottom of the torque curve not the top. Automatic transmission: with 6 forward gears, the transmission is always “hunting” for the proper gear. The slightest change in road elevation, and the G will either up or down shift. Reliability is excellent. Other than routine maintenance such as tires and oil changes, I haven’t put a dime into the car. Summary: if you can find a used G37 IPL with less than 50,000 miles, get it. You will be please with the bang for your bucks.
Yooo!! I have a chance to buy a 2012 g37xs coupe with 140,000km (100,000 miles = 160,000km). Is it a good price and is it a good investment for the future?
I have a 2012 G37 coupe automatic with the sport package. The two fairly major issues I've had was the dash cracking and the catalytic converters both failing. Luckily I bought the car used but still within its factory bumper to bumper warranty. I believe if you make a big enough deal out of it there is an extended warranty up to like 5 years or something on both the catalytic converters and the dash cracking cuz it is a known issue. I think my first catalytic converter was replaced under the regular bumper to bumper warranty but when the second one failed it was out. I still got them to replace it for free
A few months ago I picked up a 2010 G37X with 212k miles. Fully loaded with all the options, besides it not being the sport version of the X. 2 Previous owners. First one did all dealer service up to 140k, second owner replaced driveshaft, rear calipers, plugs+coils, some wheel bearings, flushed all the fluids, and did 5k oil changes. When I picked the car up it needed a battery, alternator(+ belt + pulleys + tensioner), and a starter. I still need to clean some grounds up and change the ATF, but the car is really drives great for the mileage.
I’ve had my 08 g35 sedan for 6 years now, bought it with 85k now it’s at 300k. Only have had to replace the alternator, ac compressor, and replaced the transmission at 260k due to a failed sensor that made it go into limp mode. Just replaced drivers side throttle body a couple days ago and had to reset the ecu….great car
Sorry for my ignorance bro but wouldn't have been easier to replace the sensor? I'm dealing with my 09 g37 that in limp mode at 135k (km) I thought it could be the weather as uts -30 where I live

I had 2012 g37 about 4 years it developed Nissan's famous Limp mode in the middle of highway. This car also designed difficult to maintain such as change the third brake light I have to take all back seat out to change that.
I have my 2012 coupe brand new . Never had those issues , I maintain it very well . Replaced radiator hose 4yrs ago . Changed brake pads & rotor . At 74k now . And I live in 100 degrees heat & over .
Had a 2008 g37, great car as far as reliability only issue was some electrical problems at the end but cant complain when the only things I did were oil changes, brakes from 20k-110k
2008 G37S 6MT with 174K miles and it runs like a fuckin champ! Extremely reliable car. Besides some of the shitty material that deteriates over time as explained in this video (sticky dash, steering wheel peeling) I have zero complaints. I just keep up with the maintenance on it and thats pretty much it. I drive my car pretty hard and the ONLY issue which I have had and is also a common issue on these cars is that in less than 2 years i had to replace the CSC and master cylinder twice due to failure. Other than that. This car is bulletproof!
My G37 has about 84K miles and I really hadn't had any real issues with it. Only maintenance, a clock issue and my mechanic said the brake master cylinder was probably going to need replacement eventually. Two weeks ago the transmission went out and I learned that it was due to the radiator leaking into the transmission. The cost of replacing the radiator and transmission would approach $10,000. What is the power train warranty on that car?
In 2017 I was finally in a position to buy my mid-life crisis car with my wife's full support. I wanted something zippy and it absolutely had to have a stick shift and a rear back-up camera. After months of trying to find a used Infiniti G35/37, my wife actually ran across a 2009 G37 on Ebay auction. I won the car for $9,815. It had 106K miles on it. I love the car. It simply performs, and it's short wheel base and tight width (smallest in its class) allows me to slide between cars and semis on the highway at 80 mph with ease. I'm sure it torques off other drivers, but I really don't care. The downside to this car is that it is labor-intensive. Everything is very tightly packed, and you must remove the engine for most major work (spark plugs, timing chain, water pump). At around 120K miles, I had to have the timing chain replaced, and a local shop told me they could do the work. They screwed up a lot, such as using RTV instead of an O-ring, and they missed the paper gaskets. After more than $4K to those guys, I ended up having to take it to the dealer where I've now spent another $4K. Lesson learned. Sadly, Nissan has stated they will no longer make stick shifts, because "the computer and transmission are faster and smarter than the driver." That's funny, because I don't know how the computer knows that I want to downshift into 5th at 80 mph so I can slide between two cars without having to tap my breaks, or how the transmission knows I need to down shift hard to take an upcoming curve that it can't see. Looks like my next one will be a Mustang.
Same here have a 2011 G37x got it at 76,000 it’s now at 83,000 couple months , runs like a rolls Royce lol I did change Tran and engin oil and new powersteering fluid.
I have the sedan same year awd. I think the only problems are, there is no music bluetooth/aux in some models. Other than that it's an amazing car that is undervalued.
@@ericpunkkinen5038 I agree with the Aux, I wish they had an Aux input in the car to play music that would have been great.. can't believe they didnt add that to this car but other cars that are wayy cheaper quality comes with them.. makes no sense
That g35 interior is just sheer nostalgia for me. My first car, buying a g37 from 2010-2013. Should I go for rebuilt? I’ve found sound with like 60k miles for about 7k
I have a 2007 hr sedan with 175k miles and ill i use it for is drifting and the only issue ive had is the gallery gasket and steering wheell none of these have came up 2nd owner really a great car very reliable
I’ve had my 08 g37 since 2020 170k miles on it. Regular oil changes. Only major repair I did was galley gasket and water pump and serpentine belt. I changed the everything dealing with the timing chain. Oh yea and vvt solenoids all that costed me about 3k. I’m gonna sell the car around July for about 2500
You missed a few big ones for G37. Passenger Occupant Sensor fails and can only be fixed properly by replacing the entire passenger seat for $5K - $7K or installing an OCS Emulator bypass to keep your airbag on all the time. Third option is to ignore the blinking red light about airbag failure on dash and Passenger airbag disabled light on the console. The sensor is not field replaceable and even if it was and you found the part in a junkyard, the labor to take apart the seat and specifically the bottom cushion would be huge. Easier to just replace the entire seat if you can find on that matches or just use an OCS bypass. Also, while they had dash recall for the earlier G37s, the newer ones (2010+) still get sticky / shiny and probably will eventually melt / crack, but as of yet no recall.
i got the stickness to go away with oxiclean. The shine is present but better than before, dust doesnt stick to it though, and no cracking. I could prob make it look great if spray painted it, but im not gonna remove the entire dash, that is way too much work
Just found a 2013 black/black 6-speed manual coupe with 43,500 miles and a clean record at a small dealership. Listed at $21,995. What do you all think if I were to get at $19k?
Good video, but nothing about main problem. Cars 2008-2013 have oil gallery gasket issues. Cost is $2000-3000 to fix it. Also sunroof drain system leaks
My 2014 Q60/g37 has 72,000, has no issues so far. I feel like that's when they perfected Everything from 2014 to 2015 were the last G37 years for the coupe
I have a 2012 g37 sedan premium package with 115k miles only thing I’ve had to replace was valve cover gaskets, manifold gaskets, sunroof water leak, and my dashboard is pretty cracked even thought it has ALWAYS been garaged kept and well maintained.
Sounds like a lemon.... Also pretty sure you had to replace brakes along the way and you should flush the trans and diff fluids asap and also the spark plugs and air and cabin filters, but I think you are not telling the whole story, or you don't maintain the car well.
CLEARLY I am talking about ISSUES I’ve had to take fix, I wasn’t talking about routine maintenances and other maintenance such as brakes, tranny, diff fluids and other things like air filters that I have definitely done to the car.
Found a 2013 Infiniti g37x yesterday with just 65,000 miles on it. I test drove it for 30 minutes on streets, idle traffic at lights, highway, inspected the body belts ac and heat. Only issues I found where a couple scratches on the paint “door dings”, shifts hard into 4th, minor bumper damage with one crack (guy probably parked to close to a pilon), and a fog light that has extreme condensation in it. That’s it. Has car fax for the whole ownership of the car, one previous owner that garage kept it and drove it to get groceries, never floored it. I am going to a very proud owner of a very rare car and rare circumstance!
I have g37x 2013 with 78k miles and all good but replaced ac compressor once under extended warranty. Otherwise, it is a great car, sporty and comfortable at the same time and can get aggressive and racy if you want.
I would try to push for $7500, that would be a decent deal. Try to find as many minor issues that might need repairs and use that to bring it down a bit. Tell the seller how much it may cost to fix, ect. If it’s in perfect, like new condition. Just offer $7300 and meet him at $7500.
Depends on the condition, if the car looks well maintained and the interior is in good shape then 7500 is a good price. And get the car inspected by a good mechanic.
As long as the car fax is clean. See if you can drive it and hear the car for yourself. If you like it and no accidents yeah definitely. Car will last another 100k with maintenance and good care.
Surprised that the passenger seat occupancy sensor issue didn’t make the list. It was gonna cost like $8k for a new passenger seat in my G37 ‘vert so I just bought a little box that emulates the sensor and tells the car everything is ok. Otherwise the SRS system will disable itself.
Only issue I had with my 2012 g37 sedan journey at around 90k miles was a plastic connector in the cooling system...hard to replace as far as position...its at the back of the engine, so you will need an extension to reach it.
Hi Markus! I bought a G37 Coupe 2012 cash from a lady that was the only owner, car had only 35k miles on it, the lady kept it in the garrage, barely drove it. I would recommend deff look up some more, 110k mile for California is still considered “good” millage on the car but still...is 110k.... If that will be your everyday car, you should consider that you will add up miles on it and since the car is already 8 years old, maintanance issues will start to arrive. I know also that it is hard to find G37 Coupes now (not sure if you want a sedan or coupe) since a lot are still very pricey and majority do have a lot of miles on them and the exterior/interior does need some fix (leather sits usually get cracks on the leather) as well the steering wheel a lot of the times looks bad and chiped. Look more into it, maybe you get a better deal, and if you dispose of some money, I would recommend you to buy it cash, since at the auto dealerships these cars are still expensive and you will end up paying on it almost double at the end of your payments. I wish you good luck on finding the car you love and when you do, I hope it will bring you a lot of happiness! Take care and be safe!

Bought a 2012 G37 Journey sedan 1.5 months ago with 80k on it. Nice car, very quick, rides great, looks nice. The stock stereo is a JOKE, the drivers side lumbar support is not too great, the heat on that seat barely if at all works. The rack and pinion is a lame 3.0 turns lock to lock, so the on center feel is lame and I have to use more effort than the 2.6 turns L2L of our 2008 Saturn Aura. The main problem with the car are the highway revs. At 2k rpm, the car is going only 61mph. That is a total JOKE for a modern V6 with 7 gears, 2 of which are overdrive. Our '08 Saturn Aura does 75 @ 2k, and a 2019 Charger GT we drove did 82 @ 2k. Why 7th gear is .77 with a 3.36 axle ratio is beyond me. 7th gear should be a .68. Really DUMB.

This is golden, thanks bro!
