Whats up guys!! Welcome to todays video!! Today I want to show you how to do an oil change and service on your Yamaha MT-07!! It's an easy way to save money and learn to work on your bike yourself. All you need is a 17 mm socket, and possibly a oil filter wrench. You can get a oil change kit from amazon for less than $60. Follow along during my rainy day service and learn how to old change your own motorcycle.
Spent 150 quid for a 500 mile first service on my 24' yzf - Yamaha didn't even tighten the chain which was pretty much hanging off, not sure if its on their checklist but I won't be paying for a service again 🤔great vid mate, also nice Mustang :)
Sounds like the shop has some techs that need a talking too 😡
I just did the first service on my 24 last week. The walmart brand oil filter wrench works perfect for small oil filters and it’s like 5 bucks it was tight, but it cracked it off no problem. Also don’t know if Yamaha or the dealer fills them with oil, but it was way over filled. Going to wait till 1,500 miles to do the throttle body sync because it’s stupid to do it at 600 miles. I skipped the chain just like you, but literally at 650 miles the chain started making noise a quick cleaning and adjustment and it was perfect.
the sync is useless even at 1500 miles, wait to be at 10,000 at least except if you have some issue
@@briack_7631 I’ve done the sync on 2 other 07’s with both under 5k miles and they where out of wack not enough to make throttle acceleration super jerky or anything like that, but still didn’t run like a new bike. It’s super easy to do aside from actually disassembling the bike so why skip out and wait for problems when it’s an easy fix. While you’re in there might as well hook a tender up, change spark plugs for some iridium ones, and put on any other parts you ordered during the break in time.
Great video 👍👍👍👍
Thanks!!
Do you have the link for the oil kit?
It’s on Amazon. Just search MT-07 lol change kit. 😎
With that exhaust did you have to tune it
No you don’t have to tune an Akropovic. Although for best performance a lot of people do eventually.
Broke club hack….. a typical plastic water bottle out of your case from Costco/Sam’s is the perfect thread to use as a funnel…. Cut the bottom screw it in and dump like a mad man! Also a screwdriver through that way over tight filter works to break it loose!
I never thought about the screw driver good tip, I can usually get them off like this one, idk why the dealer likes to crank them on. 🙄
20k miles is not alot for a bike
in the netherlands people sell bikes with 110k miles on em
That’s crazy dude :)
@@Paramoto959 pretty common here
a good friend of mine just bought her first bike a 2018 z650 abs and hers already has like 35k miles on it
@thedandy6765 so in the Netherlands motorcycles are a lot more popular to have as a main method of transportation then it sounds 😎
@@Paramoto959 i mean theyre to own and run
and you can park em anywhere and in big cities like amsterdam therye useful
@thedandy6765 I’m full time on this bike, so honestly it sounds like a dream. How’s the weather there for riding?
Who the hell takes their bike to a dealer to get the oil changed? WTF! It's about one of the easiest part of bike maintenance you can do.
Drain the oil, remove the filter and screw on the new one. refill the oil with the proper amount and BOOM, you're done! Who can't do that. You don't need a jack or any special tools (you do have tools don't you?) Just do it and quit crying.
Lots of people are afraid to turn a wrench 🤷🏻🤷🏻
