- New 2DS XL used to cost $120 aud during sale. Price skyrocketed during the Ol' rona. Now, its just absurd. But you should probably buy one before it shoots up even further.

Production Note.
This video took me 4 days to make. CRAZY I know. this may be the most complex video I've done so far due to lack of planning and errors in the script. Which is why this video will only have 1 shorts accompanying it. I also wanted to credit the sources in the video with captions, but I was already halfway into editing and couldn't justify the amount of time necessary to pull it off. It's a lot of self justifications here. Also the god damn subtitles. OMG. I tried the automated caption software called captionator and it is so bad I had to manually insert captions one at a time. What a nightmare that was. My next video will likely be uploaded 2 days from now and there will be some changes made to streamline the process. Hopefully put more effort into VoiceOver so I can minimize the manual captions work.

In 2020, my local Walmart was selling the leftovers of their 2DS XL MarioKart bundle consoles. They were only $100 and now I’ve seen the same console go for $300+

Sometimes you can find really good deals. Bought my 2DS XL in perfect condition yesterday for $130. If you consider the price increase, not a bad deal.
I got that bundle when I was around 11 now I’m sad I broke my 2ds
Got a limited edition Pikachu New 3DS LL for $500 (brand new) paid a hefty price for it but I’m just glad I can play my old games again!
Here in Finlad I saw it for a 47 € If I just would've known xd
you're in the algorithm buddy, keep it up!
The algo brought me here
Yooo the algo did bring me here
Same here! Keep it up bro
brought me here too!
Brought me here as well lol
You should mention that the eshop has closed down earlier this year. That means no virtual console games or other eshop exclusive titles can be bought anymore, ever again. Physical games are also hard to come around. But! If you hack your 3DS you can still access its whole library AND MORE, unlocking the full potential of this amazing handheld.
where can i find how to hack it?

It’s ridiculous, I’ve been seeing “New” 3DS’s for like $800, not even the XL’s are that expensive 😭 I am glad my parents bought me my “New” 3DS XL back when I had gotten straight A’s in middle school
Tbh i like the non-XL model more than the XL model
Also, if you grab a 3DS in good condition I'd definitely recommend buying a hard protective cover for around ten bucks and always store it in a case when not playing. Yes, the cover may be a little uncomfortable, but you definitely want to minimize the amount of scratches and wear if you ever consider reselling it in the future.
I remember in 2019, I wanted a 2DS XL for some exclusives for 100 bucks. So glad I did that now lmao. So many great games and cool mods! Someone actually made it so you can port Sonic Mania from your Steam library on PC to your 3DS!
I picked up a 3DS XL with a broken hinge on Facebook market place for about $100 with 5-6 games. I just had a hunch these things were gonna skyrocket.
i got a great condition one for 100, no stylus tho
@@m00nlight73still selling?
i got one recently for 100 euros, perfect condition!
I got one for 20 bucks with only a missing circle pad grip because my brother didn't know how much it was worth
Part prices are really high as well, I was doing a shell transplant and broke both screens and it is gonna cost like £60, but like 6 months ago they would only be like £30.
i always wanted the new 3ds; backplates, colorful buttons, compact look, its absolutely perfect
but the model is shit rare in America
300 is insane😭 i have the regular 3ds but i’ve always wanted the new 3ds i hate the xl

Thanks for this! Exactly what I was looking for
congrats on getting me here through the algorithm, keep it up man!
In response to your comments about emulation, there are workarounds for the issues you mentioned as being absent or not functioning properly. The widely used 3DS emulator, Citra, actually provides 3D support. This feature can be utilized with either a 3D TV or a VR headset. Additionally, for the touchscreen functionality, I personally prefer using the touchpad on a PS4 or PS5 controller.
I finally homebrewed my Original 3DS XL and got twilight a month ago and I wish I did it sooner, the DS was my very first game console of my whole life when I was two, I love playing the old games i've lost the carts to, was super excited back in 2014 when I first got it now I get to relive those memories, H-Shop has a lot of games too, I absolutely adore it
Might replace the screens, its been ten years so they're a little glitchy
Also your music taste is so damn good, nostalgia train
I just paid $280 for a New3DSXL about 3 weeks ago. Cosmetically, flawless. Came in box in pretty rough shape. Thank you for making me feel a little less buyers remorse. What a versatile little handheld.
i just bought one too from game stop same price after shipping, tax, and 1 year warranty. hopefully it comes in decent shape
@@diego1726 I also hope yours is as in good as shape as mine is! Just an update, I did end up Modding it, and it was by far the best choice. Maybe an hour of doing the guide but a whole day of downloading games and letting the system charge again. Extremely worth it when it comes to the hundreds of free games & themes. PS1 games play really well on it & im certain this thing could do Sega systems and anything in the SNES library. I found it to be genuinely one of the best handheld emulation options, particularly when you look at the price of steam decks or other emulation focused hardware. Plus we get the benefit of playing on actual Nintendo hardware for all Nintendo handheld systems. It’s a masterpiece of a gameboy and I’m happy to have paid every penny of the $280 for it. 👍 I’m never selling or giving this away
I got one for $220 with a game and expedited shipping, and the only cosmetic damage is a small scratch on the bottom. Well, at least assuming the seller didn't lie and post fake pictures
@@elk3407 make sure you get screen protectors on it as soon as you get it! Replacing them is no simple task if it breaks
A good thing to do is also look for refurbished systems. I was able to get a (internal) refurbished New 3ds XL for $200, and I changed the shell it came in out for something I liked more later
Sooo, Why the hell are you so underrated? I mean, the quality of the video itself is fantastic. Keep it up!

I got mine before prices skyrocketed. Back in January i got my New 3DS LL from Japan for about $167. I homebrewed it and put english cfw on it and love the thing.
Great video! In september I'm going to Japan so hopefully I can get a 3ds then!
Have you seen those new StreetPass meetup events on Twitter? They go to conventions and tournaments to do gatherings for 3DS
I just bought a decent looking 3ds XL with 40$ (h@cked). I'm in Vietnam and here we're not affected by the rising in price that much, like there's a rising in general 3ds/2ds prices but only about 5-10$. You can find some really good condition ds lite/i with only about 10-15$.
copped a used new3dsxl in akiba last year for 90 dollars, one of my best decisions ever

great, informative, to the point video. Although I would have mentioned that you WILL need to mod to get the most out of it
I saw some 3Ds Xls going for up to $450. I got one $200 and it came in good condition
Literally a handheld RPG machine
i got this video suggested

Hello there :D
Coooool video...i subscribed xD
I know it’s overkill but a magic trackpad or a touch screen external display (like a phone or tablet) seems like an okay ideia!
I imported a White Japanese New 3DS XL from Japan and it cost me $330 AUD, ended up being a dual IPS, was pretty over priced but after hacking it and having access to the library etc, I think it was a pretty good trade, it's pretty much brand new except for a tiny mark on the circle pad.
Also Minecraft isn’t available on old 3DS models but ports of Minecraft are available for modded systems including old 3DS. One of these ports is called Craftus and is available on Universal Updater
You should do a whole video of what you can do with a modded 3DS
Here in the Philippines, I checked and it can go as high as 30k in pesos! unbelievable. it's condition is no where near good either.
I just bought a New 3DS XL for 45€. It has a small black spot on a top screen corner (totally playable if you don't have OCD) but even with the cost of a replacement screen, it still would cost me less than what it is usually asked for where I live. Some crazy sellers try to sell them for over 200€ but I've noticed these don't get sold. The average price seems to be around 120€ rn.
Kid icurus is such a classic
The best option almost here in spain because its prices its the old 2ds, it would take less using damage because of non foldable and also the gaming experience its better because the structure of this is one is very comfortable in the hands and is very similar to that of a gameboy, just for me the best model and also the best option by its price at 2º hand market
i bought my new 2ds xl on xmas, it was a used one, but still works fine, and i love it. it has homebrew so i have the biggest library to play.
This is sad, I've been fixing my 3DS since I got it in 2015 and I hope it doesn't die on me one day
I bought my new 3ds (Japanese) off a guy who owned a lot of those consoles for about $75 and never looked back, now I have my system modded and can play whatever I please whenever.
I was very lucky and got my N3DS XL back in 2016 for about $160, brand new. So far the only thing I’ve had to do besides softmod it was change out the battery since it went bad.
Super happy I got my lavender n2dsxl before that one guy did a video on the japanese exclusive ds’s. Got mine for $120 now they easily go for $200+
The 2ds is not very resistant, my son had 2, the second one broke when i knocked it off the night stand a couple months after it was bought. After that i bought him a 3DS XL and even though the hinges are a little worn still works fine.
This is why I am still hanging on to my 3DS but those 3DS games be pricey though 😅😅

New 3ds models already have a new method using (super-skaterhax)
The old models ( 3ds, 3ds XL, and 2ds) have methods but they involve things like flash carts and such. Until a new method is found for them
The 3DS also has the SD card located in an easier to acces place than the New 3DS XL. I do not know about the other models, but if you are to often replace the SD card then the New 3DS XL and maybe certain other versions of the 3DSes may not be the right choice for you.

the eye tracking 3d must be so nice. i have the old ass og 3ds and i have to sit so still to use the 3d which sucks cos i love using the 3d.
Wait which 3DS has the eye tracking??
@@cadencase5216 New 3DS and New 3DS XL.
The eye tracking for 3D on the 3DS console is hands down the best way to view the 3D, but everyone is different and surprisingly, there are some people who prefer the OG 3DS for the 3D effects, so to each their own. I always just assumed everyone would prefer the eye tracking feature for 3D viewing, but I was wrong.
Eye tracking sucks. Mine has it. Not because of the tech itself, but the battery drains 3x faster.
When I heard the 2DS/3DS were being discontinued, I bought a sealed New 2DS XL in case my main New 3DS breaks down. So glad I got the 2DS knowing what the current prices are. I still have it sealed

Whoa, are you not able to use two ds screens to replicate the two ds screens????
It’s a shame about the eshop though. I’m not sure if anyone has found any new exploits to mod the 3DS either since the latest out of nowhere patch.
I understand piracy concerns but like… you just can’t get a bunch of digital only games and some games aren’t worth paying double or triple or higher than their MSRP.
I got a new 3DS XL a few years back before they discontinued it, Amazon was selling the galaxy one for cheaper than the other models.
There are some games I want that are still around their MSRP but a lot of them have shot up in price. Understandable, but still. I got Star Fox 64 3D for the Nintendo select price around 2022 I believe. Considering how the original more or less doesn’t play quite right without an N64 controller for if you want to go for the “100%” completion of the game. It’s a fine version on 3DS.
I can emulate the 3rd on a 50$ handheld my boy
Man I wish nintendo kept selling refurbs for awhile. I missed out on getting one
Meanwhile I bought 2 3ds systems before they got overpriced for that exact reason

i bought my new 3ds LL like 2 weeks ago and it was the best decision i ever made
The real strat is to buy a used 3DS (whatever model you want) with a good amount of wear that still functions properly, and do a full shell swap. It takes extra work, but probably your cheapest option to get one in good condition, provided you don't care if it's the original shell.
That full shell swap takes a bit of skill, but I have a literally brand new galaxy 3DS.
The problem with the 3DS (and to a lesser extent the DS) is that the hardware is completely unique, and even emulating it on a phone (something that's hard due to the dual screen configuration) just isn't the same.
The screen proportions are unique so unless you want to play on a tiny screen, you'll have to play on the original system. The use of sleep mode, gyro, and ESPECIALLY touchscreens are also all far less natural on an emulator. Streetpass (while basically irrelevant these days) is gimped, the 3D is gone, and things like the online services don't work without serious tampering either.
The DS is undergoing similar problems, but on a far less grand scale. This is because:
1. The 3DS can do everything a DS can do and more, so it gets buyer's priority.
2. It sold FAR more than the 3DS line, which compensated for the fact that (unlike consoles) handhelds break and get lost very easily. Even if the amount of DS's broken/lost was somewhere in the MILLIONS, it still wouldn't matter due to the sheer quantity of them. The same can't be said about the 3DS.
3. It also has unique hardware, but again. It sold very very well.
4. There's so many 3DS models that I speculate that each one individually has a certain air of rareness to them (not even remotely rare in a vacuum, but rare overall).
5. The "New" models increased functionality means they have even more buyer's priority, and since they released later it could be speculated they sold worse simply due to being on the market less long than the older models.
I managed to pick up a brand-new *new* 3DS XL off Ebay for £200, a month ago Funny, I just got this in my rec
I have two perfect condition new 3Ds xls, one is a special edition and one is modded, I wonder how much they’d go for?
400 or more
👏 👏 👏
Finally! Someone who gets it!
bro i looked up new 3ds xl, went to shoping, and you gan get it for £30-£50.
The only reason I bought a New 3DS is because of the Kisake fashion plates it has, I have a set of Isabelle from Animal Crossing, and I now realize that it's somewhat useless and that I should've gotten the regular 3DS (OG model).
Yeah...i only had an og 2011 3ds from when i was a kid. Then the switch came out so 3ds was ignored by me (like most did)
until around a year ago, i realised this might probably be my last chance to genuinely get different 3ds models in a price range i can attain now I'm at an age wherei can buy what i want.
Decided to get animal crossing 3ds' since iike the designs the most.
So i spent 6 months searching for a "decent" AC 2ds. Found one boxed and near mint for 160.
Then i found out about IPS 3ds', i didn't want to spend months searching this time: Going around asking sellers for pictures sounded miserable and eBay pricing was insane (400+)
So i imported a dual ips AC new 3ds from a Taiwanese ebay equivalent for around 200.
A year ago I got a new 3dsxl for 150 biggest steal ever also just recently I got a mk7 2ds for $50 2 steals u can get them cheap people just don’t look
I just got a original 3DS today for free from my cousin because he wanted to sell it. Time to add it to my N64, PSP, PS3, PS4, SEGA Genesis and GameCube collection .
Well, usually Entertainment tech goes down in price over the years. I'm very sure, that the price will go down in the long term, similar to the ds. It won't go down that much, (simply because the ds sold more often) but it will go down.
It will drop like a rock, son. Everything entertainment and tech will do.
I Had The 3DS For 5 Years
My newest hobby is to buy all of the 3ds systems in my area. Got a near-mint Dual-IPS-New3DSXL-SNES-Edition for 150€ last year. It really feels like a hunt for a system in good condition.
I always on sony team, but don’t misunderstand, I’m a retro gamer so I have a ps2 and ps3, “desbloqueado” bc here in my country games are very expensive. So I decide 3 years ago buy a vita. It’s really incredible! But you now I miss something lol. I decide to buy a old and smaller 3ds now. I think I will have a lot a fun wit!! Btw nice vid brah 🎮
I paid $400 for dual ips new 3ds xl, and 200 for tn new new 3ds, then got a new 3ds japan ll for my beo for $100, all work great
Why the price so high, here it's only about 100-140 USD for the "used" new 3dsxl, except for some full pack that cross the 200, almost same price as switch lite. The 3ds browser are not good enough to play TH-cam with so little ram, and same battery connector as old Samsung flip phone for emergency needs to replace the original😁
I accidentally fell into the rabbit hole of like-new handheld consoles with options (color, version, condition) in the past 15 months. They can get pricey if they're a Japanese exclusive version or had a limited release, but hey ~ entirely optional. eBay has been my worldwide shopping center for almost 20 years to date. It's preferable over using something like that Sendico service though I'm sure there's some advantage to using them to shop Japan otherwise the company wouldn't exist.
if you're buying stuff in bulk, then services like sendico or tenso are the way to go. other than that, ebay or amazon (some amazon jp sellers do worldwide shipping)
Pawnshops fellas, better chance getting them for 70-120 bucks. That what I snagged and it was that black friday mario edition new 3ds. Same goes for those hunting down some PSVitas.
