I own a 2DS XL and love it. Just recently had it modded. Love having and creating custom themes for it. I miss being able to streetpass someone too. I always enjoyed seeing what kind of people I connected with on it.

@@nichyklerissa1126 yeah I had gotten mine back when the Nintendo switch was sold out everywhere and online so I got a 2ds xl with Mario kart 7 pre installed for $100 at Walmart. I just recently got around to hacking mine. I’m actually glad I didn’t get a Nintendo switch cause I have more fun on the ds. Every now and then I get on my gfs switch
@@antony1012 Yes you will need a pc to put homebrew and various other apps to hack it. For instance you will need homebrew (obviously) and then fbi if you want to get .cia filed and put them on the Home Screen. I don’t think you need FBI but I do to have the games on my home screen. Not all files will be a .cia file so you will need the twilight menu to play .nds, .gbc, etc. Also in the twilight menu they have folders for each gaming console to put your games in so put them in the correct folder for neatness. And if you download sega mega drive 2 (genesis) games then make sure you rename them to .gen. Oh and one more thing. I would get a micro sd card that is at least 32 gb. Idk if the ds can use more than that you’ll have to research that

What I would do is try to install homebrew on it like a normal new 3ds but if you can’t do that then install the twilight menu. That shouldn’t need homebrew app. If that doesn’t work then you can go really old school and use an r4 card. Classic. If I’m gonna be honest I never use the homebrew app and use the twilight menu but idk if you need them both
Cool video, I’ve had a 2ds xl I’ve had for the last four years or so that really didn’t start seeing heavy use until a few months ago. After modding it I can honestly say it’s my favorite system to date. Since doing so I’ve really wanted to get my hands on a N3DS XL but like you say in the video… finding one for a good price in good condition had been a challenge. Until yesterday when I scored one on market place for $150 thats minty fresh. Deals are still out there people! Just might take a little time. 😉
I have been recently considering buying a 2ds xl! I currently have an original 2ds and a "new" 3ds xl and have been playing through all the 3ds Pokémon games. They are ridiculously expensive on amazon even for renewed consoles! Great video BTW!
Just got a modded 2DS XL and I love it, so happy that I can play all my old favorite GBA games on there with a bigger screen ❤ having a blast with final fantasy tactics, advance wars, and golden sun alone never mind all the ds and 3ds games 🙌🏻 well worth the money spent.
I like how the 2ds xl keeps the 800x240 top screen from the 3DS line of consoles. It means you get this cool scan line effect on the top screen, and makes it look like a crt monitor. Good video, but about the price.... holy moly are these consoles expensive. They used to cost ~$79.99 USD.

Yesterday I bought the Lavender & White edition 2DS XL as it has been my dream 3DS/2DS console for a while now. It cost me £140 from CEX, which is my go-to place for pre-owned games. Though the website did not have images of the exact product I would be receiving, CEX have listings of different qualities depending on if the console has little damage (scratches, bumps & dead pixels), like-new/unboxed or new/boxed. I chose the unboxed version which I assume is close to being new condition or perhaps a refurbished product (Which I don't mind, so long as it works right?!). It will also be my first "New" edition of the 3DS/2DS family. Though my original 3DS XL will still have a place in my heart, I am excited for this upgrade. ^_^
I just ordered a new 2ds xl white and orange for 90 bucks with included charger, Stylo, new super Mario bros 2 and case and it was such a steal I hope it comes as soon as possible
The thing about the 3ds eshop that I didn’t know I’d miss until it was non existent on the Switch is the little gift wrapped box they put your game in after it finished downloading 🥹.

I got myself a N2DS XL literally 1 week before the e-shop closed and bought some games I wanted to buy just to play them "legally" and not the "other" way even tho I just wanted to just buy one game in particular, still an amazing console mostly due to its portability and comfortness of being able to carry the console on your regular pocket

I have put in countless hours on this device and gotten some pretty cool accessories, I also just installed homebrew and all that good stuff so I can survive the eshp closure. Got a Japanese Metal Slime 2DS XL a few years back for around $90 USD, well worth the price considering how easy it is to mod and get rid of the region lock.
damn only 90 bucks for that?? I'm seeing them around 250 nowadays, i wanna pick one up and not sure if I should try find one cheaper. How did you remove region lock by the way? I can shell out a little more money and get one pre-done region free or I can get one for less region locked
@@SniP3rHavOk I ended up putting Custom Firmware on it to get rid of the region lock. Having Luma on a 3ds can disable it and let you play any physical or downloaded game.

Honestly I have a new 3ds xl and a old 3ds xl i can see the need to get a 2ds xl because for its size. It is the perfect console for portability it is thin the other 3ds i have is kind of bulky like the 3ds xl variants as bulky as they are but the 2ds xl just seems right also i dont really care about the 3D so this seems like the perfect console for me
I was never planning to get a New 2DS XL until one day my dad came home with a standard blue 3ds, but was unsure if it worked, I got a charger for £6 and it worked! I'm a huge skylanders fan, I have over 200 figures and all the games, so I remembered that the 3DS also had some Skylanders games that were different So I try out the games and I absolutely loved them! But unfortunately I couldn't play for more than 20 minutes at a time due to the small size. So I'm hoping to get a New 2DS XL soon

Yeah I love mine I had a 3ds original but as I got older it became more uncomfortable to use so I Sold it was fully modded so I wanted a 2dsxl I got one my £90 pretty much brand new no scratches or nothing absolutely incredible so I got it at a very cheap price but yeah I have modded it and has 150 games on it just from picking up a 128sd card for £7 definitely worth it

I managed to bag a mint condition boxed with charger black and turquoise new 2ds xl same as I had before and paid £130 gbp, have also ordered Pokemon Ultra Moon, Mario Kart 7, Zelda a link between Worlds and Metroid Samus Returns and I'll tell ya. I'm so excited about getting this back especially in 2023, with og dedicated ground up console and games that go hand in hand especially physical copies of games to keep them alive and well before they all disappear. Hence tonight has now been binge watching new nintendo 2ds xl content with a smile on my face - and coming across your video which in light of my day has been very appropriate 😀 so thank you and ya can't beat the new 2ds xl and that entire back catalogue of games 🎉🫶🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏻👌🏼
I was at Gamestop 2 weeks ago just looking for switch games when I see this beautiful purple machine behind a glass display. I didn’t have any interest in buying a 3DS but purple is my favorite color and it was love at first sight. It’s the New 2DS XL purple and gray model I got it for $160 after tax and I love this thing. I sold my original one years back but I’m glad I got one again and so many of the bangers in the library are relatively cheap. I got a brand new Ocarina of time for $15 for example (Nintendo Selects but I decided not to be picky with this console so I’m open to buy Selects, World Editions and loose carts). It’s great to just pick up and play, no load times, screen is perfect, and I find myself using it more that my switch! Very happy with my purchase :)

I had a New 3DS XL but it was falling apart, the camera broke, the right side of the touch screen wouldn’t work, the paint was chipping off, etc, then I saw that Nintendo still does repairs for that system, so I sent it in. They couldn’t fix it so they sent me a New Nintendo 2DS XL for free, which is perfect because I was actually going to try to find one at a good price
I like the New 2DS too, it’s a good console, but the thinness of the console is also a huge weakness. My old 3DS has survived since around launch day from my 3 year old hands for NINE YEARS and I still have it today (though I play on my New XL version instead), while my “New” 2DS barely survived a year and then it broke from my brother *sitting on it.*
I have the Pikachu Edition, which is probably worth a lot now at the end of 2024, especially with all the software I downloaded onto it! (I don't mod my systems because I prefer authenticity so I was able to get the software naturally before the eshop closure in March of 2023)

I absolutely love my 2DS XL and actually prefer it over my Switch Lite. I paid a stupid price for it about 8 months ago, shelling out $225 for my purple & silver model. The fact that it has an immense library when you include its backward compatibility with the og DS means I will still get my money's worth from it. As for your Vita comment, I had one and sold it because I'm not a fan of anime or jrpgs, and sadly games in that vein account for the bulk of that console's library. As a piece of hardware it is phenomenal, but I quickly figured out after buying it that I was not its target demographic.
I bought one a few years back which has mostly been sitting. Out of nowhere my Wife decides she wants to play Super Mario and is now binging. I am looking into enhancing the system.
I prefer the new 3ds xl due to the 3d slider only because I just like having the feature there just in case I were to want to see a cutscene or something in 3d but I am still looking into getting a 2ds xl just to collect
I have a 2DS XL Pikachu Edition in PERFECT (Like New) Condition including all of the accessories and original packaging. I purchased it back when it came out and took EXTRA good care of all of those incidentals including booklets, plastic wrappers, etc. The only things that are not factory new condition are the addition of a screen protector, and I have modded the system with Luma. It is capable of playing/emulating everything in the nintendo hand held catalog. I also loaded a custom Pokemon theme onto it so when it boots up it shows an image of Pikachu looking at the LUMA logo, and the home theme is also equally pokemon themed complete with the music. I love the console and still take it out from time to time to play things, but honestly I may look to sell it in the near future. I just don't have the time to play it much any more and from what I can tell in the condition it is I could likely get a premium for it as the Pikachu Edition seems to be one of the rarer and more sought after versions on the market. I am not sure if the mods increase or decrease the viability of it though. I know if I was in the market for a 2DS XL I would prefer one that is able to do all the things that Luma allows, but at the same time I also know that collectors tend to prefer things be factory stock in a lot of instances.
I bought one for $49.99 at a pawn shop yesterday. They said it doesn't boot due to a password. So, I bought it, insert the SD card in my pc, deleted the PIN . bin file and she loaded up perfectly. I love it
I've had my "new" 2ds xl since Easter 2018 (which was also April fools, maybe that's why my grandma bought me detective Pikachu instead of a main series game /j), and I use it all the time. The 3ds pokemon games are my favourite simply because the 3ds doesn't require you to pay for online services, you literally only need internet (the switch isn't bad, but my family probably can't afford paying for switch online as of now)

honestly the only reason why I didnt buy one of these is bc of the dificulty of finding a new one that has never been opened here in brazil, and whenever I find one selling somewhere in the US the shipping price is usually like half or TWICE the 2DS XL's price so I would very much enjoy a "how to buy consoles" guide, specially bc I only bought something online ONCE in my entire life cuz tbh I never really needed to buy stuff online, I can just go outside and buy it... but thats not the case with the 2DS XL, since its out of production
I bought a New 2DS XL last year for 120€ approximately, boxed with 5 physical games included (some boxed and other not, including Pokémon Sun). I think it's a good investment ^^
2019, I decided to buy the 2DSXL (my cousin recommended it), a game case along with 4 games (Pokemon Sun, Rune Factory 4, Devil Survivor 1 Overclocked & 2 Record Breaker) It was worth it. 😁
I had to get my 3ds xl repaired (I had it since I was 10) and the repair guys couldn't fix it so they're sending me a new 2ds xl instead. I'll miss my old one but this video makes me feel a little better about it.
Back in 2020 when I heard the 3ds was being discontinued, I had bought a new nintendo 2ds xl off the Walmart website with mario Kart 7 because because it was a dollar cheaper than only the console for some reason. Then I swear like 2 days after I got the 2ds xl, the price went up by like 30. I got the console for 193 brand new but then it was like 200 - 220 dollars after I got the console. The exact same thing I bought is now 349 dollars. Every 3ds on the walmart website is from 300 - 500 so I could consider myself lucky. Also I didn't use ebay then.
CORRECTION: The "new 2ds xl" has the exact same 1300mAh(not 1400) battery as the small "new 3ds", only the "3ds xl" and "new 3ds xl" have the bigger 1750mAh battery.
I started off with a normal 3ds(red), and ended up giving it to my little cousin when I upgraded to a *new* 3ds XL (galaxy) and I loved that thing for a good year until I got bored. I then ended up buying a (release red) 2ds and I’ve honestly called in love with it. This piece of toast is great too hold for longer gameplay, and with it not opening it’s perfect as a quirky little drawing tablet. I’ve always avoided the *new* 2ds xl because I’ve always thought it being so thin made it look flimsy and fragile. And most people (granted not all) just end up buying a carrying case that can hold everything. I guess a case might defeat the “instant portability” but if I’m running errands I always pocket my Mario or Zelda game and watches. Those are perfect in that regard
I lost my 2DS XL like 2 years ago, either that or stolen. It was a relaxing device and felt like a massive upgrade from my previous 3DS. I haven't played any DS since then, but lately i've started to get interested so i'm looking forward to getting a new 2DS XL but for now I gotta stick to my old 3DS.

Hey bro I'm a 42 year old man based in the UK and did exactly the same today! I used to have the new 2ds xl and sold it when I got my first Switch. I managed to bag a mint condition boxed with charger black and turquoise new 2ds xl same as I had before and paid £130 gbp, have also ordered Pokemon Ultra Moon, Mario Kart 7, Zelda a link between Worlds and Metroid Samus Returns and I'll tell ya. I'm so excited about getting this back especially in 2023, with og dedicated ground up console and games that go hand in hand especially physical copies of games to keep them alive and well before they all disappear. Hence tonight has now been binge watching new nintendo 2ds xl content with a smile on my face - and coming across your video which in light of my day has been very appropriate 😀 so thank you and ya can't beat the new 2ds xl and that entire back catalogue of games 🎉🫶🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏻👌🏼

I was at Gamestop 2 weeks ago just looking for switch games when I see this beautiful purple machine behind a glass display. I didn’t have any interest in buying a 3DS but purple is my favorite color and it was love at first sight. It’s the New 2DS XL purple and gray model I got it for $160 after tax and I love this thing. I sold my original one years back but I’m glad I got one again and so many of the bangers in the library are relatively cheap. I got a brand new Ocarina of time for $15 for example (Nintendo Selects but I decided not to be picky with this console so I’m open to buy Selects, World Editions and loose carts). It’s great to just pick up and play, no load times, screen is perfect, and I find myself using it more that my switch! Very happy with my purchase :)

I had a New 3DS XL but it was falling apart, the camera broke, the right side of the touch screen wouldn’t work, the paint was chipping off, etc, then I saw that Nintendo still does repairs for that system, so I sent it in. They couldn’t fix it so they sent me a New Nintendo 2DS XL for free, which is perfect because I was actually going to try to find one at a good price

I like the New 2DS too, it’s a good console, but the thinness of the console is also a huge weakness. My old 3DS has survived since around launch day from my 3 year old hands for NINE YEARS and I still have it today (though I play on my New XL version instead), while my “New” 2DS barely survived a year and then it broke from my brother *sitting on it.*
I scored a brand new 2ds XL for 180$ today, I am excited it'll be here within the week and this video just cemented my purchase!

I have the Pikachu Edition, which is probably worth a lot now at the end of 2024, especially with all the software I downloaded onto it! (I don't mod my systems because I prefer authenticity so I was able to get the software naturally before the eshop closure in March of 2023)

I absolutely love my 2DS XL and actually prefer it over my Switch Lite. I paid a stupid price for it about 8 months ago, shelling out $225 for my purple & silver model. The fact that it has an immense library when you include its backward compatibility with the og DS means I will still get my money's worth from it. As for your Vita comment, I had one and sold it because I'm not a fan of anime or jrpgs, and sadly games in that vein account for the bulk of that console's library. As a piece of hardware it is phenomenal, but I quickly figured out after buying it that I was not its target demographic.

I prefer the new 3ds xl due to the 3d slider only because I just like having the feature there just in case I were to want to see a cutscene or something in 3d but I am still looking into getting a 2ds xl just to collect
3d is novelty and for the price it's not worth it imo but all up to preference, 2ds is a much more stable option

I have a 2DS XL Pikachu Edition in PERFECT (Like New) Condition including all of the accessories and original packaging. I purchased it back when it came out and took EXTRA good care of all of those incidentals including booklets, plastic wrappers, etc. The only things that are not factory new condition are the addition of a screen protector, and I have modded the system with Luma. It is capable of playing/emulating everything in the nintendo hand held catalog. I also loaded a custom Pokemon theme onto it so when it boots up it shows an image of Pikachu looking at the LUMA logo, and the home theme is also equally pokemon themed complete with the music.
I love the console and still take it out from time to time to play things, but honestly I may look to sell it in the near future. I just don't have the time to play it much any more and from what I can tell in the condition it is I could likely get a premium for it as the Pikachu Edition seems to be one of the rarer and more sought after versions on the market. I am not sure if the mods increase or decrease the viability of it though. I know if I was in the market for a 2DS XL I would prefer one that is able to do all the things that Luma allows, but at the same time I also know that collectors tend to prefer things be factory stock in a lot of instances.

I've had my "new" 2ds xl since Easter 2018 (which was also April fools, maybe that's why my grandma bought me detective Pikachu instead of a main series game /j), and I use it all the time. The 3ds pokemon games are my favourite simply because the 3ds doesn't require you to pay for online services, you literally only need internet (the switch isn't bad, but my family probably can't afford paying for switch online as of now)

honestly the only reason why I didnt buy one of these is bc of the dificulty of finding a new one that has never been opened here in brazil, and whenever I find one selling somewhere in the US the shipping price is usually like half or TWICE the 2DS XL's price

I had to get my 3ds xl repaired (I had it since I was 10) and the repair guys couldn't fix it so they're sending me a new 2ds xl instead. I'll miss my old one but this video makes me feel a little better about it.
I plan on getting one for Christmas, with the plan of getting a damaged one and repairing for a much lower price!
Back in 2020 when I heard the 3ds was being discontinued, I had bought a new nintendo 2ds xl off the Walmart website with mario Kart 7 because because it was a dollar cheaper than only the console for some reason. Then I swear like 2 days after I got the 2ds xl, the price went up by like 30. I got the console for 193 brand new but then it was like 200 - 220 dollars after I got the console. The exact same thing I bought is now 349 dollars. Every 3ds on the walmart website is from 300 - 500 so I could consider myself lucky. Also I didn't use ebay then.
CORRECTION: The "new 2ds xl" has the exact same 1300mAh(not 1400) battery as the small "new 3ds", only the "3ds xl" and "new 3ds xl" have the bigger 1750mAh battery.

I started off with a normal 3ds(red), and ended up giving it to my little cousin when I upgraded to a *new* 3ds XL (galaxy) and I loved that thing for a good year until I got bored. I then ended up buying a (release red) 2ds and I’ve honestly called in love with it. This piece of toast is great too hold for longer gameplay, and with it not opening it’s perfect as a quirky little drawing tablet. I’ve always avoided the *new* 2ds xl because I’ve always thought it being so thin made it look flimsy and fragile. And most people (granted not all) just end up buying a carrying case that can hold everything. I guess a case might defeat the “instant portability” but if I’m running errands I always pocket my Mario or Zelda game and watches. Those are perfect in that regard

I lost my 2DS XL like 2 years ago, either that or stolen. It was a relaxing device and felt like a massive upgrade from my previous 3DS.
I haven't played any DS since then, but lately i've started to get interested so i'm looking forward to getting a new 2DS XL but for now I gotta stick to my old 3DS.
