You are so wrong buddy. The prices will increase with time as no other console will ever be made with the 3D effect. People will want to experience this in the future and there is no other way to do this except, the original hardware.
Good video, I mostly agree. So much of the 3DS’s appeal were “had to be there” type enjoyments like StreetPass, online multiplayer, eShop including Virtual Console, etc. With those gone, you’re left with just the games, and so many of the best like Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, are like Fantasy Life in that you’re probably just going to play the latest entry on Switch if you’re looking to get into the series.
Triforce Heroes is underrated IMO, spent so many hours on that game. It was fun matching up with 2 others and going through dungeons together while everyone is working towards getting materials to craft different outfits that give abilities. As long as no other console has 3D and dual screens the 3DS will be worth it. Those two features itself affect the experience drastically and have yet to be replicated elsewhere.
I am still collecting the 3DS library for sure, yeah its gonna be kinda dead in a couple of months, but I never played it online much anyway besides MK7 even back in the day.
its crazy how close we were to having full triple A games on handhelds around this time, I still have my new 3DS XL which I modded last year, and my original 2DS that I had since I was a kid
so, last year around halloween, i started bringing my dsi to school, because what else was i gonna do? read a book? and my friend walked up to me and asked, “is that a 3ds?” i had to explain to him, no not exactly, and he asked, “wanna trade for mine?” so now i have a blaze red 3ds
Main reason I was considering it was to potentially join MK7 lounge. But with the online servers about to shut down, there’s no point. Unless the competitive community migrates to private servers & remains active.
I have a 7 year old New 3DS-XL and i bought another as a backup. And then another.. Now I have 4 3DS-XL and one New 3DS. A 3D console, a portable one no less, is a gem in every gamer's collection. I doubt there will be another one. The glassless 3D really works.
I'm thinking about buying it for the pokemon games but I'm just curious if there are many games that make good use of the dual screen that won't be as good on a single screen emulator/switch?
Oh tons. While pokemon was made to be playable without the touch screen, many were made with it as a necessity, especially first party games. Take Ocarina of Time for example, all of your tools like the grappling hook, boomerang, bombs etc, are on the touch screen, as is the map, and the ocarina itself. No dedicated buttons, they're tapped on screen The Mario Games have the 2nd power up inventory on the touch screen, no button for that, just tap, map's down there too, Kirby too has power ups in the bottom screen. While yes an emulator can definitely play these games, it'll look uggo depending on the device you use, as you should always have both screens shown. on something like a powerful phone, they'll be shrunk to odd proportions, on pc the resolution won't look right most of the time, perfectly playable just not great looking. If you want to play any 3ds games, a 3ds really is the best place to play them, I know they're getting kinda expensive lately, but with software modding and the Hshop for "Yar har" I say a good condition one's worth the price if you softmod it. the 3ds is still def worth it, especially now that we’re able to mod the system which unlocks its full potential with things that you can find nowhere else & it’s easily portable & the battery life is rlly good, and even with the online server closing it’s not a big deal at all bc we have pretendo “it’s not the same” once you install it, it rlly is the same & its pretty active too.
I am playing Resident Evil: Revelations on the 3ds version and looking back at it online from the console version was the huge difference. Playing at 240p was very rough at my eyes and how glitchy and broken it was compared to the later versions.
I'm one of those people who was lucky enough to buy Kid Icarus Uprising when it first came out. It truly is a wonderful game, though depending on what 3ds you have it can really hurt your wrists due to the controls. I'm not real sure it'll ever get remade or ported over to switch, since the guy who made it (can't remember his name but he created Smash) has stated multiple times he has no plans for a sequel or remake of any kind right now. So unless something changes in the future, kid icarus is more than likely stuck on the 3ds
I still playing on my New 3DS as of now as the game severs come to an end very soon. Mostly for FE14's game servers to help others reach the 10,000 Battle and Visitation points to those who want to reach it. I already got there in May of 2022 after a long 3 months of mad dashing to reach the 10,000 of each after putting it off for several years. It shall be a while before there is an FE13 and FE14 remake of any kind. There is no way to port FE14 as of this time as the whole thing was built around the 3DS in mind. If they do remake FE14, the entire base game has to be kept together at launch with none of that piece meal BS they pulled during the original launch of the game. Also, all the actual DLC has to be on the cart at launch, as well as the unreleased Festivals DLC that never got released internationally with the Before Fates DLC that never got announced nor released at all, on top of all the cut features that was originally planned for the original. Such as the 3D and 2D exploring of your Castle similar to Dragon Quest 11's, and the marketplace system for shops and armories that made it into FE17. Of course, the Cipher characters are gonna be there, no doubt about it with any other new content the team choose to add into the remake amongst all else. But if done right, that remake would put it way above FE12 in terms of remakes. FE13 remake is gonna focus more on all of the other stuff that was also originally planned for that game, but was cut due to time constraints and out of concern that the game wouldn't sell too well after the commercial failures of FE11 and FE12. So all those other objective type chapters and maps would be added into the remake as its new content on top of the Cipher stuff and anything else to keep it fresh and dynamic. Then the inclusion of Amiibo to round it out with every other FE Amiibo that had been released up to that point in time. But before 13 and 14 could be remade, they got to remake 4-10 first. Since the next one is a remake, it could be a dual remake of FE4 and FE5 on the same cart or FE6 and FE7 on the same cart. We all hope that the FE5 and FE6 remakes don't end up as DLC. FE5 is a tough midquel that takes place during the time skip in FE4 before the events of the 2nd Generation, to which FE5 didn't sell too well during its original release. FE6 is Roy's game for which the West was promised a long time ago for when Fire Emblem was finally introduced to the rest of the world that NoA still refuses to release as of now. But keep in mind that the writing for FE7 is not too consistant leading into FE6 as there was originally no plans to make a prequel for FE6 when FE7 was made. So there is gonna a lot of retcons amongst the two to keep them lined up with one another to prevent too much conflicts of interests. Most would have to do with default marriages regarding Eliwood, Hector and Lyn. Most likely the ending for Lyn in that FE7 remake would be she and Rath to assure that Sue exists in FE6, Hector and Florina, then Eliwood and Ninian as the writing for all of that makes the most sense over all the rest. Yet the two games that shall be stuck on the 3DS is Bravely Default and Bravely Second due to them being built with 3DS in mind. The part of the games that holds them from being ported the most is the reconstruction of the Town in Bravely Default and the reconstruction of the Moon Base in Bravely Second. So if ya want to play those games, ya are gonna still need to fetch a 3DS and play them through the mill.
Sushi Striker is another 3DS game that got ported over to the Switch toward the beginning of the system's life cycle, so I think you might be surprised by the number of niche franchises that make the jump to the Switch.

When Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD got announced last year I can see more 3DS titles being brought over. For the Pokemon ones I honestly hope they’re just a straight up port and then an experimental title akin to legends arceus. Great video dude!

The 3DS had so many RPGs That are not on switch, nor will they ever be. You're forgetting about the entire DS library of RPGs. My final verdict there's more of a reason to own one than ever.

There are soooo many good 3DS games that there is no way the OG Switch or Switch 2 will ever make it irrelevant. Besides, I think you are way too optimistic about all those 3DS games being ported over, especially since the Switch is at the end of its life and I'm not sure Switch 2 will need 3DS ports to exist.
the 3DS's future at this point is the homebrew and fan translation scenes. we'll still get new 3DS games, just nothing official. Plus also 3DS games run and look better on emulators nowadays,
Disagree with this video. Go and buy a “New Nintendo 3DS XL” and mod it. It is absolutely worth it and has now become my most used console. It’s not just the 3DS games, it’s the fact that as someone in my late 30’s, I can enjoy playing almost an entire back catalogue of NES/SNES/GB/GBC/GBA/DS/3DS games all on one console. Even some N64 games will run. Stick a 128GB SD card in there and you can have hundreds of games installed. This is incredible value for anyone Nintendo fan, especially retro Nintendo players!
Do you recommend buying a “region free” one, or doing that all by yourself? I’m new to this and not really sure what’s the most viable route. Im looking at some Japanese versions on eBay but not quite sure what to look for specifically.
I got my first 3DS this last month. I just updated it to the latest firmware before they shut down the online capability. I wonder if that was a good idea or not? I don't plan on modding it at all.
I have a 2DS right now, do you guys think I should upgrade to 3DS? i mostly only play tomodachi life, crossworDS, and a 500 in 1 emulator etc, but i might wanna look into 3DS games. also, it has more customization than 2DS. plus, i feel nervous having a system I can't protect the screen on. What do you guys think?
I really like your videos (I'm subbed), so don't get me wrong, but in this video you forgot about the glass-less stereoscopic 3D which makes the 3DS console and 3DS games unique and not easy to emulate. I thought it was a stupid gimmick for a long time, but it grew on me. Some of the games look beautiful in 3D. As an example I think Luigi's mansion 2 will remain the definitive edition on 3DS, it just looks so amazing in 3D. Like a pop up story book and the cartoony and "geometric" art style fits perfectly. I know for many it's only about the games, but can't forget that for a lot of people it's also about the aesthetics and tactile feeling of a console, especially when it comes to handheld. It's simply not the same thing playing on an emulator or some other device compared to the real deal. At least if you have nostalgia for a specific device. It seems like a lot of Nintendo fans don't care that much about online either (couch/local multiplayer seems more important). Anyways, keep up the great work. Hoping for a lot of 3DS, DS, Wii, Wii U etc. videos in the future. 😊👍
Came to the comments to say exactly this! I love the 3D immersion and as you said with dual screen native functionality and stereoscopic 3D the 3DS will be home to the definitive edition of all of these "ports". Just wont be the same.
I think the 3ds will never be a "Wii U". I have 99.99% of the library and they are lots of games not mention here, that mostly will never see a port. If anyone wants to get a 3ds and try some games go for it!!
While yes i agree to a point i have several 3ds /xls a couple of 2ds xls as well as every version of game boy there are many games that will be never ported that i enjoy because they don’t warrant the time and effort so yes i will keep all of mine thanks….lol
The 3ds is not worth buying anymore. Most games have already been ported to either wii u or switch. The 3d function wasn't really used, It's quite possible that the Switch 2 could have stereo-scopic 3d built in. Rumors suggest that starfox zero could get ported to switch.
Hardly any games have been ported. This video is just the guy speculating what 'Nintendo' may port over or HD remake. Nintendo fans are kidding themselves if they think they care about game preservation.
The ehop is dead and physical games are getting expensive. It is only worth it if you hack your 3ds. Nvm I checked ebay and most 3ds games are still selling for $40 or less

Yes. You should buy.
I got my first 3DS this last month. I just updated it to the latest firmware before they shut down the online capability. I wonder if that was a good idea or not? I don't plan on modding it at all.
it's fine and you can still mod it if you want.
3ds is still amazing if you get it modded and its really easy
Should go to the gaming otter he does tons of streetpass content
I think the 3ds will never be a "Wii U". I have 99.99% of the library and they are lots of games not mention here, that mostly will never see a port. If anyone wants to get a 3ds and try some games go for it!!

No because the online servers close today
For all we know the Switch 2 will have a 3ds emulator and that just means i just ordered a brand new japanese one for nothing lmao.
How if it’s only going to be one screen?
Tomdachi life plesse come to switch
While yes i agree to a point i have several 3ds /xls a couple of 2ds xls as well as every version of game boy there are many games that will be never ported that i enjoy because they don’t warrant the time and effort so yes i will keep all of mine thanks….lol
3d prime edition was almost not my favorite because is just 3ds of the psp version
yes you're insane
The 3ds is not worth buying anymore. Most games have already been ported to either wii u or switch.
The 3d function wasn't really used,
It's quite possible that the Switch 2 could have stereo-scopic 3d built in.
Rumors suggest that starfox zero could get ported to switch.
Wrong.
@@LunaticKD1991 I know you're wrong, so shut up.
Hardly any games have been ported. This video is just the guy speculating what 'Nintendo' may port over or HD remake. Nintendo fans are kidding themselves if they think they care about game preservation.
@@Thomastm33 there are plenty of games that have been ported to switch.
Yes
The ehop is dead and physical games are getting expensive. It is only worth it if you hack your 3ds.
Nvm I checked ebay and most 3ds games are still selling for $40 or less
Trying to get as much as I can before they get expensive
botox games
