Nah, both are kinda shit (but good in their own way). I own a DS, 3DS and used to have a PS Vita. All modded by me, ofc. The only reason why the DS and 3DS are "better" is the expansive game libraries. Almost all Vita games you can also find on PC and you can easily emulate all PSP games without having to think about the double displays. After getting the Steam Deck, having a Vita or a PSP makes zero sense. I still enjoy my 3DS XL a lot, but calling it "the best handheld" is a stretch. If you ever held a Vita in your hands, you will be astonished by the quality and relative performance.
@@vhateg Talk to me when the Vita has more than 5 games that interest me. I already have a PSP, & a whole lot more games then I'd ever want to play on a Vita, so I just don't think it's worth it much.
This is such a great video. Some corrections though: Spotpass was just used to send info to the player while they were in sleep mode and connected to the internet. Minecraft DS could also refer to the various homebrew ports of Minecraft. Somewhat disappointed that you never mentioned them, but it's fine lol I'm just a nerd. Good video regardless

I think that Minecraft DS stands for the many "proof of concept" fakes that were floating around because Minecraft was said to be impossible on DS. But then DSCraft was made which is pretty much a homebrew version of minecraft for the DS (but with no bedrock/mobs etc).
Noticed a mistake in the first fact. Miis were not only in Japan exclusive DS games. They were also used in Personal Trainer: Walking, which released on DS in Japan, Europe, and The Americas
The reason why New Super Mario Bros Walkthrough Part 2 has so many views is simply because it went crazy in the TH-cam algorithim around 2009 along with the fact that it featured gameplay from World 7 which most kids couldn't get to because it required taking a canon into World 5 which most kids couldn't figure out how to do.
I’m honestly surprised there’s no The World Ends With You entry here. It’s one of the few RPGs I’ve seen that NEEDS the DS because it’s built with it in mind and uses all of its strengths like it’s touch screen and the dual screens. It’s one of the first games I associate with the console. But anyways, fantastic video. I learned a lot and awakened some old DS memories.

It's a decent game, all the games are available on steam, too! It's definitely a visual novel but they tried to lessen the amount of text on the Steam version, however that really leaves a lot of holes in the plot worsening the experience along the way. The game can get repetitive with its core idea but they let you skip enough parts to be acceptable.

As a kid I was going down the stairs with my original DS open, tripped and fell and the top screen snapped off. I think it's fine too, but I can see why it can get repetitive. You aren't able to teleport any further than floor B5 I think? I replayed the game recently so the memory is fresh.

I'm really curious as to what the logic was behind initially wanting the GBA and DS to coexist as two separate pillars, despite both being handhelds. I guess maybe Nintendo saw the GameBoy as a product for kids and hardcore gamers, while the DS was meant for adults and casual gamers (games like Cooking Mama, BrainAge, and Nintendogs come to mind). But if that's the case, why go through all the trouble to add GBA support to the DS? Honestly, I think Nintendo probably intended all along for the DS to replace the GBA, but they didn't want to lose any goodwill from people with GBAs, so they supported it for a little while longer until most people transitioned over. It's pretty much the same thing we see nowadays, with PS4 and Xbox One games still being made, despite their successors being over 2 years old now.
Yeah, that makes the most sense to me. I also failed to mention that the GBA also had connectivity with the GameCube, which might've been important to mention there, but oopsie-daisy.

30:28 thats its not a nitro system, that one you mention is a blue box with a cord attached to DS the one in the image is alphadream mock up of the DS as they were developing Mario and Luigi partners in time, they didn't had any developer kit only they know the DS would be a dual screen console with the Snes button layout
My poor 3ds got completely broken, top and bottom screens completely broken from each other aside from hanging on by one little wire. So, the "bye-bye" thing is actually in new super mario bros. as well, along with a few of the transformers games I want to say, when you close and open the lid it will make the "transformers noise" the sfx that is played when they change from robot to vehicle and vis versa. Trying to think if there are any more, but ye, it's a feature in a few games on the ds.
The “Bye-Bye” that mario says can also be heard in New super Mario bros DS upon closing the DS, and the MCDP dump was released to the public by a TH-camr named Nick Robinson.
Couldn't get into Nintendo handhelds until the GBA came out because I needed better graphics and 8-bit consoles and handhelds weren't doing it for me. GBA was good but the lack of a backlit screen made it a pain to play its games until I got a DS. The DS and future handhelds have been awesome with such a robust selection of games.
Im surprised you didnt mention how various games would also use the blowing into the microphone feature as a game mechanic
i still have ptsd from the train in bowser's inside story
Ah, yes, the one singular time you have to yell in Phantom Hourglass.
the one battle in the world ends with you where you have to blow into the mic and can’t attack otherwise

The ‘zones’ were placed in high traffic locations and would fill up in a second. I also had the ambassador certificate and I still have my original 3DS. It was such a great handheld console, I wish Nintendo would release another one.
28:58 This is actually pretty based.
Freak
How come you didn't mention Nick Robinson when talking about eCDP? He was the whole reason why the game is out there.
Why didn't I? Especially when I mentioned Ray Mona later on. I'll remember this for the corrections video.
30:28 thats its not a nitro system, that one you mention is a blue box with a cord attached to DS
the one in the image is alphadream mock up of the DS as they were developing Mario and Luigi partners in time, they didn't had any developer kit only they know the DS would be a dual screen console with the Snes button layout
My poor 3ds got completely broken, top and bottom screens completely broken from each other aside from hanging on by one little wire. I was still fully functional and I was able to play games like that for a couple years before it finally stopped functioning. (No, I didn’t get it repaired, I was a small child I didn’t know better 😭)
29:51 the only reason I know them is because there are 2 spirits in Super Smash Bros Ultimate named, Rusty Slugger and Inuji Daremuski or something like that.
21:21 “this game blows”
I'm glad to say I'm your 470 subscriber

Obscure facts about our childhoods… And ONLY 2045 VIEWS!? TH-cam please fix your algorithm this video needs more attention!
Not giving a mention to the Mystery Dungeon games while talking about Pokémon spinoffs was a real low blow
