"What? Do you got a girlfriend or something??" Hit too hard
It hits different then just having a pet, or childrens, oh wait, lol
Between Framework pushing for upgreadeability and this cost effective laptop I'd say portable PC nature is healing
yeah il have to and see what the GPU modules are like on the 16 and how heavy it it is but it is very tempting to move on from my fat workstation cant take it anyware lol
I'm looking into getting my first job just so I can buy a Framework
Glad to see that Bob is slowly acquiring a technology sponsor! This laptop does seem like a nice value proposition, and all the better that they sent you one for review!
Bob I really love the production value you have on these videos, you are the best on video production when it comes to your genre of content! Love the content man, keep it up!
Going to college and I’m glad I saw this video cause this is just what I need! Something for steam and work not to bulky so I can take to class and in my price range
I honestly am starting to really like the one laptop solution or one handheld pc option as the main setup. I do really like at home work and I actually use the Steam Deck as my main computer 🙂 it works great but it is nice to see something like this put out so much work considering it's a thousand bucks that's not as bad as I expected it to be. I'd like to see it hit the 799 mark but it is better than most of the other options on the market.
I can’t believe I’m seeing the 4050 mobile first on your channel rather than LTT or similar channels. Good shit Bob.
I have been watching your channel for a while, and just wanted to say your fun as hell. Thanks for the content
Personally running a Legion 7 with a 3080 and the form factor seems to be the same. Love it and it is also a "desktop replacement" but not as big and bulky as you might think
Damn nice house, make sure you get a prenup
Just recently picked up an asus rog strix with a ryzen 7 6800h and a rtx 3060. I’ve had both the new consoles and ive always exclusively used consoles in the past. A gaming laptop is the best experience I’ve ever had. To run next gen console games on something that is portable and a 5th of the size of a ps5. Just can’t beat it
I picked up a hp omen 15 laptop with a 1660 ti for $250 a few months ago. It's the most powerful electronic device I've ever owned. It plays everything i like to play at high frame rates, and is great for emulation. I love it.
would love to know how/where you managed to get it for that price...all the ones im seeing listed for sale are double to triple that $$$....?
@@PenguinDynasty I got it at a local pawn shop. I don't think they knew what they were selling as they had other crappy laptops for way more money. I think I just got lucky. It's an awesome laptop for sure.
@Brian S ok, wow did you luck out. they def mispriced that one as they are easily selling for way more then that. Congrats on the find.
High quality content ya got there bob
I want a laptop like this, specifically a laptop because I plan to go to college soon. About to watch this, hope it goes well for you!
i read a review on bestbuy and it seems like an amazing entry level gaming laptop with easy upgrades for ram and internal storage. im adding this to my cart and seeing what they premium version of this laptop offers in comparison. its pretty much not even a question of if its worth the price if you already own extra components to throw in upon receiving
Also Steam gaming is a BIG plus. You can just take your steam games to a new device if you upgrade in the future. People can still play games on their modern pc/laptop/steamdeck that they bought almost 20 years ago when steam launched. That's from the ps2/xbox/gamecube era!
“What you have a girlfriend or something” 😂😂
I love that Bob is doing more and more PC/Steam stuff! I'm really gaming a lot more since I discovered steam. It's awesome!
Same
you just discovered Steam? where have you been the last 19 years? under a rock?
@@Punisher6791 no need to be a dick dude
@@Punisher6791 lmao i honestly was wondering the same thing... i was going to ask if he meant the "steam deck" not just steam in general ..hah
Great video and glad to see some more PC related content and while I know this is a sponsored video their are definitely way better, thinner, and lighter alternatives if you actually want a Portable Gaming Laptop like ASUS G14 (which I daily drive) and G15 both thinner then this device, same with Alienware and Razer as well as easier on the eyes in terms of appearance.
For a grand?
@@imnotbreno Yup! I literally bought a 2022 g14 a couple days ago for a grand
Is the g14 better than the one in the video? I'm looking to grab one for school@@griefgrief Update: bought a g15 on clearance for 950.
Asus G14 exists since 2020.
Wulff Den: "Look at this Gigabyte chunk!".
Sure but Asus has been a shitty company lately. Don't give them your money until they clean up their act.
@@spookyfish2605 it’s unfortunate yes, and their gaming laptops are amazing. I have the 2 thoughts co existing for me. I don’t think anyone should miss out or not get one of their rog laptops.
I'm rocking a similar setup where I have a laptop that has all my games and personal files on it. It plugs into my computer setup through a KVM that it shares with my work PC. It saves me a ton of space compared to having 2 PC's and I especially like that if I have to travel, then I can chuck my laptop in my bag and I'm not missing out on anything. I long for the day when gaming tablets (like what ROG has) become more common place, and we can just plug in a tablet into an external dock that runs the entire setup.
Yes! More Gaming PC Vids (Or In This Case A Laptop) More Pls
I’ve been using an ROG Zephyrus G14 since 2021. Probably the best investment I’ve ever made.
I like it, man was like the fans were cooking but this is fine 😂
“It’s only a thousand dollars!”
Excuse my while I start twitching in a corner as my £800 MacBook Air broke the bank.
I have a 30 series version of this laptop, I love it, great little beast.
really good review! honestly as much as i had been wanting a steamdeck i always wonder if i should snag something like this for on the go gaming. really dig it!
Funnily enough got a gaming laptop from Gigabyte delivered today lol.
The "What, you got a girlfriend or somethin'?" got me
So do you?
Damnit Bob!! Now I have to buy a new laptop 😂😂 great video as always
"That means no valorant with the Bois"
I.. I felt that
I don't play valorant but I'm sure your voice chat is incredibly accurate. I played Overwatch for a couple of months and it was like that. 🤣
Bob I really love that your playing valorant with the boys
This is so cool. As a 14in laptop guy this is probably as close as it gets before getting something like a razor blade stealth but for the price this takes it by far for the price for it
Hi Mr. Wulff Den sir, would you say that the dock with the screens is giving a good experience? so no issues with stuff disconnecting randomly or issues pushing the high framerates for the monitors
Docking stations for my home is something I need
I wonder how good the battery life is…
I had this exact thought, love wulff den reviews but was a bit surprised that battery life was left out of this video
@@willg5239 He left a lot out of this video. Not even a good review. Val can run on a toaster and RE engine and Destiny both run great. All this video did was go over the connections.
watching this on my '21 Swift X and kicking myself. Granted, I got it refurbished about a year ago for around $700 and it's been solid for gaming and video editing.
But... You have a steam deck
He's doing this for sponsorship 😂😂 🤑🤑💸💸
So, Are we still getting a video tomorrow or...😂
You should do a video on the framework 16 when it is available I’d love to see your opinions on ot
I appreciate the nod to iCarly with the pear-top laptop. Good stuff.
Hell yeah portabilityyy
The bit of no Valorent with the boys and one of they said "What do you have a girlfriend?!" got me good😂😆
I got a thin gaming PC 3 years ago by Velocity Micro. It was expensive, 144 hz, and 17in screen. It's as thin as a regular laptop but 3 years ago, most gamers were very thick!
When your games dip below the screen refresh rate is it bad? Looking at a laptop desktop replacement
Did NOT expect this price. Holy crap
I have a 2019 acer nitro 5 that I use with a monitor. It has a 1650.
I got it for around 750 or 800 back in 2019.
I barely take it anywhere tho. Its pretty big. And if I take it somewhere, I have to bring de power adapter because it cant be an hour without it being plugged in. (in general, not gaming)
Im not about to spend 1k on a laptop right now, but I would like an upgrade eventually.
Im a little jealous, i bought a MSI GL65-LEOPARD-10SFK back in early 2021. It has a I7-10750h and RTX2070 115w gpu. And man i gotta say the build quality, not that great. Not bad but not mostly not that great given that my RTX 2070 has died 3 times officially now and first time it was only like 3 months after my warranty expired. Worst part, it normally cost around 1,900$ but got it for 1,500$ on sale. Wish i looked into something like that Gigabyte because dam that Thunderbolt 4 port and the fact u say it has no overheating/thermal throttling issue is just the icing on the half cake i fell like i never even got.
You are a very funny guy. The "what you got a girl friend or something!" Was brilliant 😂
Have you tried Batocera? Its a console operating system you csn just intall on a usb drive and can boot it into any laptop pc by connecting the usb and play upto wii u and ps3
Tbh, I would be curious if this portable laptop could handle doing live streaming for gaming or movie nights (like on Discord or Twitch)
Similarly, if the laptop could do it without OBS for the live streaming.
I've been amassing a library of free pc games or pc ports of consoles games from places like Steam, Gog, etc. And I would like to play them on my current laptop and livestream my gameplay with a png avatar I've got, but it doesn't have the graphical quality to do three at once (much less two at once.) And it's not set-up for pc gaming.
i bet this would !
i stream with a png avatar as well. my laptop's a 10 year old 1050 ti, though i did upgrade my ram to 16gb. i can stream simple games only though, like honkai star rail and omega strikers. i bet yugioh master duel would, and some emulation up to wii.
i wish u the best!
the png should basically be 0 load as it's just an overlay on OBS
most/any 30 series and up cards (ex 3050) should be able to handle basic streaming through OBS so long as you don't play anything too crazy or have too many things running at once. use the nvenc encoder and a faster encoding setting too. the quality might drop a smidge, but it should be able to stream just fine.
The fact that a valorant AD played at the of this video tho 🤣🤣🤣
The skits are just a whole video on itself
I think I might actually buy this as a replacement for my geriatric desktop
I currently game on an MSI Sword 15 I got it from my friend who never used it cause he already had a whole pc setup, why did he even have this laptop then you may ask I wondered to and he never really told me. He sold it to me for less than 200$ so I got a good deal either way even if this isn't the most powerful laptop. It's great for playing games obviously. Recording and editing and even streaming. I was told I would need 16 gigs of ram for streaming but it works just fine all the time even with only 8 gigs.
It’s Wood casually in the b-roll for me
“You gotta girlfriend, or somethin’?” Haha
I think in another 5 years or so, the tech will likely be good enough to use stuff like this for the masses. I've always like the idea of replacing my desktop. It's big, heavy, bulky, expensive, power-hungry, and powerful. It crushes games. However, I have always fantasized about having a laptop that does 80% as good as the desktop. I picked up the SteamDeck when it came out and am selling it. It just doesn't do what I feel it should in desktop mode with an external 1080p monitor. It's just not there yet, for me.
I want it for light gaming but mostly streaming and recording my consoles
Welcome to the Light Side 😁
I strongly advise you to look into undervolting and manually setting the gpu curve and fan speeds with msi afterburner. Your peak frames will lower a little but your overall frames will actually massively increase, your system will run much cooler and quieter, and you will significantly increase the life of your device. Bob of all Trades has a great guide on this. Everyone with a gaming laptop should be doing this.
'what you got a girlfriend or something?' 😂
first time watching one of his videos. im guessing a lot of people have said that he kind of looks like a young rick from rick and morty right?
This might be an odd question but I’m looking for a laptop to get for university and I was thinking a MacBook Pro but then I also want something to game on… would this laptop be good for an everyday use? Mostly for school lectures?
May look into getting this very reasonable
A sight to behold that Bob plays Destiny 2
Ain't nothing like "VALORANT WITH THE BOYS!!"
no mention of battery life.. how is it?
I just wish pc's were that cheap in Europe :/ sounds like a great unit
censoring the apple logo on the macbook pro but not the sticker on the switch dock
Just this dude's setup costs 3x more than my entire existence. And, believe me, that's not an exaggeration.
Bloody hell, that's a nice gigabyte laptop.
Having trouble finding where to buy this specific laptop
Is Valorant With The Bois streamed??? Pls respond
Hey @WULFF DEN do you still use this laptop ? And how has it been treating ya 🤔😁
sounds like a great laptop, might sell my old one
Nah I love my Asus laptop, it still holds up, even for current games very nicely 💪💪cost me 600 and it has a touchpad that has a mini screen and a touchscreen for the monitor and a nice graphic card to boot too,
WITH THE BOIS!!1
I love how now that all the sponsors have taken an absence, you've just started including skits in the videos themselves. Probably rewound at 10 different parts throughout the video just to see/hear the jokes again.
what about color fidelity in terms of using that for professional video and photo editing?
I need to convince my IT department this is what we need for email.
Are you going to make a video about the ROG Ally?
He said he was planning to on his podcast (Wulff Den Podcast)
how large is the power brick/adapter?
I know this video has a paid spot for the laptop but somehow I want a nice 1080p monitor with 144Hz/240Hz, USB-C alt modes and a KVM built in now :,D
Cool ad bro.
Not Bob being trash at aiming in RE, he just like me fr
I'll never understand the hype for the Steam Deck when we have laptops like this that might cost a little more but can also do A LOT more than the Steam Deck.
Well, you can use the Deck like the Switch on the go or on TV without much hassle.
A huge laptop is not exactly comfy in places like the bus or city train.
You can't play on this laptop while lying on your couch.
@@adeebkhan7173 Uh...what? I play games on my laptop while lying on my couch every day. 😂
This laptop looks pretty epic. Any idea if theirs a UK variant online?
Yes. You can go directly to their page and see the stores in which they sell it on. Curry's pc world, BOX, Amazon UK and very (for example) could have the laptop
i just upgraded the ram from 8gb to 32bg and get only get 30 fps on fortnite on epic mode is that good or normal?
My last gaming laptop was an impulse purchase and I regret it. It’s been perfectly serviceable as a gaming rig, it does the job well, but as a laptop it’s total ass. I’ve listed it for sale on eBay twice now but always get discouraged when no one bites and just settle on keeping it. Something like this would have been way better.
It’s a Lenovo Legion 5 for the record. Totally fine at playing games and doing stuff if I have it setup like a desktop, but as a laptop it’s an embarrassment. Never had a laptop with such a bad keyboard, the thing mistypes or fails to type so much.
I just enjoyed this review on my trusty old 2021 Razer Blade 14 in 2560x1440 at 165Hz.
No way I would haul around a 15 inch gaming monster for mobile gaming :) Nah, just kidding, I am sure 15 is almost as portable as 14 and I enjoyed the review, as always.
how is it on vr and editing tho?
Can you mod an SNES Classic edition.
I've had a 14 inch Asus Zephyrus for about 2 years. Perfect laptop. 1200 bucks. Light and powerful. Not too much corny gamer bling.
Same I've been happy with mine
I cant believe the word gigabyte is actually trade marked
Can't wait till he reviews framework
If you are look for ultra portability you should get the Asus Rog Flow Z13.
VALORANT WITH THE BOIS!!!!
How would this do in rocket league ? I’m looking for a laptop solely for rocket league I don’t want a desktop
Bob if you see this what are your favorite metal bands?
You should check out the ASUS Flow Z13 PC gaming tablet.
Hi Bob ! Quick questions, I sent you a wooden Xbox Elite 2 controller stand I made a while ago, was just wondering if it reached you ? If not I can send another! Anyways, another super informative reveiw, I enjoy your videos. Cheers mate!
Update: I decided to check around a little and I found the clip! It's from episode 121 at 1:47:33
@@calebfox1584 Im amazed you found that ! Thats awesome thank you very much for spotting it and telling me about it, really apprichate that !
@@FoxwoodCreative No worries! I just remembered it because it really stood out, even though I listen to the audio podcast. Keep up the great work!
