I think a lot of people are comparing it to other handhelds, but realistically, it's just a very portable tablet. Great for android games, has hardly any issues with emulation up to PS2 games, absolutely fantastic for GameCube and PSP games. So to get around the lack of a back button I go on to the system setting and change the gesture setting to 3 button navigation. The when swipe up u get a on screen back, home, and active app button. Also with skyline you need to pick the right custom drivers from their discord. I recommend the 615 ones. I’m not sure why you didn’t use the built in virtual controller option for call of duty? The current biggest flaw with the edge right now is that the sd card slot is limited to fat32 which means a lot of switch and wii games will not fit on the card as it is limited to 4gig files. What I really like about the edge is the flexibility between gaming hand held and android tablet. I also use iPhone now so it is nice to have a side android tablet to keep everything I picked up with I was in the ecosystem and use without the controller as a e reader, media device, and controller. Digital board game ports also look really good on it as long as they are optimized for modern phone screens.

  • @Dracossaint

There's a key mapper u have to update the controller in the app. G Cloud has this update as well. As a cloud gamer I used moto phone and kishi one. Then I upgraded to the G Cloud. The most important thing to a cloud gamer is the screen and controller comfort and resolution. The last thing person cloud gaming wants is smaller less comfortable device with smaller lower res screen. Not going to downgrade my experience to use a Retroid Pocket.

I really hope the steam desk 2 is smaller, better designed aesthetically, and has an OLED display. Holding out specifically for the display

Bob, if you like mechanical switches on controllers, you gotta try the Mobapad M6 for the Switch. They are the very best for that. This device or anything that runs GeForce Now is basically the only way to play Destiny 2 on the go. If you got the top plan, this would allow you to play at 120fps/144hz on the go.

Its nice to see some higher end emulation, I would love to get the razer edge. Even though I have a kishi v2, which i use on my pixel 6. Its fantastic for game streaming. I'm just curious how much power the snapdragon g3x has. As there hasn't been any particular flagship game title to showcase the edge with. It's just as you said though, @wulffden, why the need for all that power for cloud gaming when all you need is a 5g phone, doesn't even need to be that powerful neither. I'm curious to see where this goes. Fantastic video!

I guess it's 2 parts so you could theoretically upgrade the brain and screen later on, of course this is only valid if a possible version 2 is in the same dimensions

I think the thing that you're missing is that it's a phone correct? The versatility to be able to use it for normal everyday phone use and slide it into the controller specifically when you want to game seems like a big plus for someone in the market for a phone, but also wants some quality mobile emulation.

I do both of those games on the Ayn Odin. The Odin has decent screen mapping that allows me to do both of those games. It would also be a horsepower upgrade for emulation from your Retroid as well.

One good argument for the separate controller is for touchscreen only games or using it as a more comfortable tablet. That might be part of the reason they did it like this. I'm not saying it's perfect logic, but it's a plus.

This device fits a rather small niche that I am in. I stream mobile games to twitch like Wild Rift and a few gacha games that don't run well on pc emulators so I need to have a dedicated device for streaming. the cost of a new iphone which has been the norm as best device to stream with has been a crazy cost for me to maintain all these years. I think this device is going to thrive in this small niche community of mobile game streamers. $300 for a great gaming device ? why not
