    Laptops have been upping the game a lot for, at least, the last 3 years. And there is something that now is way less relevant but during the GPU shortage, getting a Gaming Laptop was an amazing deal for the buck in that context. Not being able to upgrade your processor and GPU may be a bummer, but if you get one with upgradable RAM and disk you may have a gaming powerhouse for a good couple of years and still get some resale value whenever you decide to make a jump.

    I’ve been a laptop gamer forever now and I will say: you’re gonna have the laptop die in like 20 minutes, the laptop will burn your legs if you actually use it on your lap, the fans are so loud you have to wear headphones and can’t really bring it to a coffee shop or library without getting looks. While laptop gaming is my preferred method ( especially with an egpu) it’s definitely not the best. Can’t wait for my steam deck

    I have a ROG Strix G17 and can recommend it. I settled on that line after wayyy too many hours of research. As a complete package considering what sort of specs you can get for the money, ASUS' gaming laptops are super competitive and generally better value for the money than comparable laptops from MSI, Razer, etc... Mine has a 3070 and AMD Ryzen 5900HX CPU (sorry, decided against Intel). I got it for $1,700 open box and don't regret it at all. Mine is not the "SCAR" version so not quite as flashy looking but similar in most ways. This is my first PC and I'm a fan of ASUS now, their customer service has been great also IMO. Shopping for a gaming laptop on a moderate budget is an enormous hassle if you don't want to get ripped off, if you want to save yourself time and headache my recommendation is to lean toward ASUS for the $1,500-$2,500 range at least.

They are by far the best brand for gaming laptops but you still need to do your research.

    • @WinterReflections
      @WinterReflections ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OhSoTiredMan I nearly went with an MSI laptop for a higher price tag just because I preferred the look of the computer. I'm glad I didn't pay that much more just for style. MSI also seems to have some deal with Intel where it's pretty much impossible to find a pre-built from them with an AMD Ryzen CPU + Nvidia RTX GPU. If you want an RTX card, then you have to also go with an Intel CPU. I had decided I wanted a Ryzen processor but the only MSI laptops you can find that have Ryzen chips are the "advantage editions" that also come with AMD Radeon graphics cards. It was clear that MSI deliberately limits customer choice on what cards their laptops come with. You get Intel + NVIDIA or AMD + AMD and that's it. Razer has similar anti-consumer practices that made me rule them out.

    Few things wrong with this video. I don't really think WULF DEN purposely put wrong information in the video. Anyway, here are the wrong things:
    Most importantly, the battery won't last all day while gaming (maybe 45 mintues to an hour). Under light use the battery will last around 3-4 hours.
    Playing a youtube video in the background will engage the p-cores and gpu. This will affect gaming performance. On the laptop it will be noticeable depending on the game you're playing.
    The machine ships with a mux switch so an extra monitor won't provide a performance boost. You'll get higher frame rates if you play on a monitor with a lower native resolution.
    The machine does not perform heavy tasks without "breaking a sweat". The CPU will thermal/power limit throttle in this machine. I'm only aware of 2 laptops with a 12900h that don't throttle for sure and they are water-cooled.

Unless you travel a lot for work or maybe you are in college and go back and forth from your parents to college in my opinion this is just a bad idea. How do you make your videos look so good while keeping the file size so small? I say that as someone who regularly downloads TH-cam videos across various channels. It seems your videos are not only much better looking but also just super compressed or something in that the file sizes are substantially lower to other videos with lesser quality and similar run times. Is this something I could learn on skill share? How are you so good at photography and cinematography stuff? I admire your photo skills as much as your emulator chops.

    I figured this was just gonna be a long ad and I wasn't disappointed.
    I would love to upgrade from this old beast of a desktop (or even just upgrade the desktop) because It's finally just not gonna run some of the newest stuff even in lowest resolution, but holy shit the price for a half-way decent gaming laptop feels like it's jumped a few hundred $$'s the last year or two, and I don't expect things to slow down with all the chip crap. So I've resigned myself to playing everything I've missed on consoles I never had, or PC games I never gave a chance, from the last 30 or so years. And honestly there's so much out there I don't think I'm gonna need something beefier for another decade.

I also find that operagx is pretty resource intensive when you have a lot of tabs open, so just find myself pinning all my stuff in firefox.
